Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Metal Gear Survive?

FantasyMeister

I looked at the user reviews on Metacritic on launch day and thought "No game deserves this" so I bought it then and there, from PSN (£34.99 when I could have got it for £21.99 online and waited a day for the post).

Survival isn't my genre (I'm MMORPG) and I'm up to the first mission where you activate your first wormhole portal and unlock a container with R2. Haters gonna hate. This is money well spent. The game is good.

"...research has shown that ‘children and young people often play 18+ games before they reach this age’. - Burrows, NSPCC

"Then there is the added danger that a child might play this hideous game – perhaps a child who lives with violence, who has been beaten or watched parents physically fighting. How many nightmares will this game provoke?" - Esther Rantzen

Both very valid points imho. However the game is a provisional 18 Rating in the UK and very likely to stay that way. As a parent I'm against censorship and all for ratings enforcement. This includes letting your children access content they wouldn't be able to buy themselves as long as a responsible parent is there to explain things to them.

I don't think Sony can do any more than it already has (PS4 has pretty exhaustive Parental Controls built in). Quantic Dream, or any other developers for that matter, are artists so can do whatever the hell they want.

Re: PlayStation VR Gets a Massive Temporary Price Cut in the UK

FantasyMeister

I've got a PS4 Pro and a 4K/HDR TV but I'm one of those gamers who has never tried VR. I watched your recent Skyrim VR videos and whilst it's good to know that all sorts of control options are available it's impossible to show me the big immersion factor.

But at this price I guess I might take a leap of faith. And it's my birthday next week so I'm hoping that'll cover the cost

Re: Review: .hack//G.U. Last Recode (PS4)

FantasyMeister

I'm loving the immersion of being a gamer playing a gamer playing an MMORPG and the mix of ingame forums, emails and then using the actual operating system is brilliantly layered.

I'm brought back to the days when I was cutting my teeth in my first MMOs and the ingame forums for 'The World' are very reminiscent of their real world counterparts, complete with newbie questions, recruitment posts, even fan art.

They even nailed the price of VR headsets, though whether that price was added during the remaster or was contained in the original PS2 version I'm not sure.

My favourite bit so far? My player's player character is a Player Killer Killer, just like me when I was playing Legend of Mir 2, which was around the time the original .hack//G.U. PS2 version launched

I had no problems with it. It was emotionally intense and I was more impressed with how they got that across using some of the best facial motion capture I've ever seen on display.

Not something I'd want young kids watching though, perhaps Sony could get pro-active and stick their own ratings on clips before broadcasting them. Or a 'graphic content' warning beforehand.

Re: Review: Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)

FantasyMeister

Easily the most boring racing game I have ever played. I'm not even sure 'game' is applicable such is the purity of simulation, wherein lies it's true nature. Unless you're a voyeur with a car fetish and a camera, then you'll also love it. Or if all you ever do is decorate cars, then you'll love it too.

Re: Star Ocean: The Last Hope Is Being Remastered for PS4

FantasyMeister

I remember it for all the right reasons If you like a high quality grind in your RPGs The Last Hope offers one of the best in the business. It already looked pretty fantastic on XBox360 so it'll be interesting to see how much in the way of improvements they actually do. My PS4 Pro awaits further developments eagerly.

Re: Feature: The 20 Best RPGs on PS4

FantasyMeister

I think Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness has been my most played RPG so far on PS4. I'll throw Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain and Grand Theft Auto V into the mix, a Far Cry here and there, it's the RPG elements in these titles that made me stick with them.

Also a shout out for Skyforge recently released on PS4. Not bad for a free MMORPG.

Re: Guide: How to Change Weapons and Armor in Mass Effect: Andromeda

For those having trouble equipping Arms and Legs, note that some chest pieces already include them (you'll see arms/legs already attached in the loadout screen for that chest piece), which means you won't be able to equip any more arms/legs if you have that chest piece equipped.

Also worth noting is Nomad Vehicle upgrades, once you have them in your inventory they'll be automatically equipped the next time you land on a planet and call the Nomad.

Re: Guide: The Best External HDDs for PS4

FantasyMeister

In the UK I went for the Maxtor M3 2TB External HDD from Amazon, around £67. Works a treat with the PS4 Pro plus it has a PlayStation Blue glowing light on it just as an added aesthetic bonus.

With my 2TB internal HDD and now this I 'think' I'm future-proofed until next gen. 3.9TB of it will be mostly backlog

Re: Take a Trip Back to Morrowind in The Elder Scrolls Online's New Gameplay Trailer

FantasyMeister

I'll be there! Currently playing through the housing update which dropped yesterday, includes some epic new music for Group Dungeon boss fights and the new crafting writ system is taking me to places I've hardly touched in the 20 months since ESO launched.

Probably most excited about the new 'beastmaster' Warden class than anything else, there are a few hybrid Summoner/Archer players in the game already so clearly there's a demand for that kind of gameplay.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Announced, By Far Biggest Expansion Yet

FantasyMeister

I'm still playing! I take the odd break now and again for other AAA titles that pass by but I always come back to ESO. Delighted that it's still going strong and getting such great support from Zenimax.

The new Warden Class? I used to love playing as a Beastmaster in FFXI, guess I'm going to have to shell out on an extra few character slots, been meaning to anyhow for the extra storage benefits.

Re: Sci-Fi Dark Souls The Surge Peers into the Dystopian Future

FantasyMeister

@AlejandroMora I couldn't get to grips with Lords of the Fallen either, but in my case I'm not very good with that sort of gameplay as I have slow reactions. This looks a lot more like Technomancer which I can handle, i.e. looks a lot more forgiving and seems to have a much more lenient learning curve.
