For me, PSVR2 is like one of those weirdly shaped or coloured dog poos you sometimes see - it catches your eye for a few seconds, then you move along and never think about it again.
@Andy22385 Yes, I agree. By the time this comes out people who bought the OG PS5 will have had up to four years or so use of it, they are still free to keep it, trade it in against the new model, whatever they want to do. Silly for people to argue it's somehow a slight at such buyers to bring out a more powerful model.
I mean....that new TV that Sony brought out this year? Damn them - I bought one just a couple of years ago and this model does everything better. Real slap in the face. That phone I bought last year from Google? Bloody new Pixels are far better and Google had no right to do it.
I almost prefer the Essential games. At least if you keep the sub up on that, you don't have that fuzziness that they could disappear at any random time.
I've struggled with that aspect of the Extra library a lot more than I thought I would.
I lucked into a long Extra upgrade thanks to the loophole with PS Now when it started, and I imagined I'd be all over it, an embarrassment of riches presented to me for 'free'. All those hours I'd be tucking into the stuff on Extra....
Turns out since then that I've spent more time on the games I own than those on Extra, and that goes for games I've played loads and some off the backlog.
I just don't like that feeling that what comes and goes from the sub library is out of my control...it bothers me far more than I thought it would, and it also affects the way I play the games on there too.
So I do get this article. If Extra disappeared tomorrow I wouldn't really miss it, which logically sounds crazy, but it's how it is for me at least.
but...but...this site and many others were 'confident' that the acquisition wouldn't be blocked - it was being posted as news as recently as last night. and now look at the back pedalling. You just can't trust MSM.
@KaijuKaiser Sadly, yes! I was about to jump back in but saw the stuff on social media about the new update and after the first time around I knew better than to doubt much of it.
I'm sure they'll sort it, but some of the crashes and bugs are so obvious you do wonder how on earth they get missed in any kind of testing.
@Toypop as someone with a degree in economics whose dissertation was titled 'Perfect Market or Imperfect Indifference? Factors affecting equilibrium in postmodern supply and demand models', you're basically correct.
The (free)market will always find its price re supply and demand. In hindsight, yes, scalpers took a portion of the additional profit that Sony could have made by pricing the console higher, but when exogenous supply shocks that radically shift the whole supply curve (COVID) like this occur, companies have other considerations such as customer relationships, forward contracts, uncertainty about realised demand at such levels and so on. This is why eBay auctions, like them or not, are the closest we will ever get to 'perfect competition', as it's called in economics.
'banning' scalping would work about as well as banning drugs...it just goes into a black market where the likelihood is that prices would be even higher due to increased friction from even tighter supply.
TL;DR People can grumble about scalping as much as they like. It's a consequence of supply shocks to a free market system that is far far better than any alternative.
Since I've had Extra, I've still spent way more time on the games I've bought over the years. Old stuff getting the nod ahead of unplayed AAA on Extra quite often.
It's a great selection of games on there, and I got a free upgrade to 2026 so it's not costing me anything more right now, but still not an outcome I was expecting.
@UltimateOtaku91 Games disappearing like this is a kind of silver lining for that sense of annoyance when a game you bought 'cheap' in a sale appeared on Extra before you've even played it!
Ray tracing is obviously the future standard at some point, but imo nowhere near there yet, and the implementations on current gen consoles aren't worth the sacrifices in resolution or detail for me.
I just go for the 60fps and I don't miss not having ray tracing. Even with insomniac games, I tried the Performance RT modes but soon went back to regular Performance mode because I didn't enjoy the drop in world detail and resolution for it.
No 'press a couple of buttons to swing' easy option?
It looks amazing and I suppose if a game has to have 30fps to get those visuals then this is the kind of game it matters less on.
However, I always find I start golf.games eagerly and with the best intentions, but soon get bored and/or frustrated with the mechanics and repetition. Much like the game itself.
Won't buy but will definitely watch a few let's plays on YouTube.
He's going to reveal he's been employed by Sony all along, sent out into the world to wreak havoc at all their competitors before returning to the fold, mission accomplished.
Try being 50+ and hearing 30 year olds talk as if they're getting old! I remember when my C64 felt retro, let alone the PS3. 🤣
On the positive side, I'm far fitter, happier and more relaxed now that I ever was at that age, and enjoying my gaming more than ever, so don't panic quite yet. 👍
Six months time it'll be one of those things that sit in the corner of the room or a cupboard somewhere, you know, like food processors, weights, sandwich toasters.
Nothing wrong with any of them per se, they all seem like good ideas at the time.
If the pushsquare staff stuck to their remit as a gaming site and kept socio-political censoring (at whatever end of the spectrum) out of here, they would have had my money.
The last gen version is looking awful. DF and media (pushsquare aside) really need to start being more critical of these lame attempts to cash grab over a few gens.

Re: Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop (PS5) - Bright and Breezy Sim Is Better Than Ever
I thought I'd enjoy this as it's my kind of game but found it too janky,, unintuitive and frustrating.
Glad I could try and delete at no cost thanks to Extra though.

Re: 22 More PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available to Download Now
@Nightcrawler71 Friends is far better, but good spot and nice bonus nonetheless, not sure why it wasn't promoted as being available as well.
Re: 22 More PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available to Download Now
@Chaudy Definition of a first world problem, but yeah.
Re: Poll: What's the Best PlayStation Startup Sequence?
PS1. Didn't even have to think about it.
Can still vividly remember starting up my (Japanese import) PS1 for the first time back in 1994. Shivers.
Re: PS4 Game Seemingly Removed from May 2023's PS Plus Extra, Premium Refresh
damn, Sony....was looking forward to that one! let them off bearing in mind the rest of this embarrassment of riches.
Re: 23 Games Hit PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week in Big Update
Obviously Rift Apart...but also weirdly looking forward to Bus Simulator and Friends of Mineral Town.
Re: Well-Liked Immersive Sim Weird West Gets 4K, 60fps Version for PS5
@Svark it's been confirmed as a free upgrade for those of us who bought on PS4...wonders never cease!
Re: Well-Liked Immersive Sim Weird West Gets 4K, 60fps Version for PS5
@SlySnake0407 no mention of free upgrade..I fear the worst, bearing in mind they're calling it a 'Definitive Edition'
but as someone who bought the PS4 version in a sale and never really got around to playing it properly, I hope for the best!
Re: $70 Games Could Be Hurting PS5, PS4 Sales, But There's More to the Story
Buy on the Turkey store. The £70 ones are £35 on day one.
It actually works out that you save more than people who buy physical, rush through them and trade them in...and you get to keep the game.

Is this expected this year?
Re: Microsoft Goes Scorched Earth Over UK's Activision Buyout Block
@Shepherd_Tallon yeah, CMA effectively trolled MS over the last year, then pulled that rug away and had themselves a good chuckle.
Re: Microsoft Goes Scorched Earth Over UK's Activision Buyout Block
Cry harder dude, I need more salt anyway.
What a baby 😄

Great game though when it works
Re: PS Plus Premium Embraces Evil with Cult of the Lamb Trial
New update is buggy at the moment, so don't use that hour until at least one or two patches have come out for it.
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 Physical Copies Require a Download to Play
@thefourfoldroot1 "much more expensive digital copies..."
you're doing it wrong. I pay far less for my digital games that any physical games, and that's for day one or at any other point.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores (PS5) - Aloy's New Chapter Is Essential for Fans
Tried HFW via Extra and sure, it's a pretty game, but blander than Blandy McBland from the planet Bland.
Re: Cult of the Lamb's Relics of the Old Faith Update Offers Communion on 24th April
Bought this in a sale ages ago and never got round to playing it (yes, that scenario again) so may as well wait for this and give it a go then.
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's PS5 File Size Is Ridiculous
@PenguinLtd not really, takes exactly the same amount of space on your console as a digital one, and I'm sorry that you have slow broadband. 👍

Re: Scalped PS5 Prices Plummet as Retail Stock Surges
I don't think they need sympathy, and it's pointless to try and gloat at them now.
They had two years of making easy money from this console, with crazy mark-ups in the first year. Sadly most of them did very well.
Re: Dead Island 2 (PS5) - A Surprisingly Refreshing Zombie Slasher
Will wait for it to reach Extra.
Re: Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone Halts Haunted Chocolatier Development, Returns to Stardew Valley
I've put more hours into Stardew Valley than any other game I've had, ever.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for April 2023?

@Kunfoostu thanks for the info...I'm a lazy, easy mode gamer these days so that would get my interest.

Even scalpers couldn't make any money. In this day and age, that tells you all you need to know.
Amusing that the 'pancake' label that VR fans love to throw about as some weird slur is going to end up squashing this monstrosity flat.
Re: Ex-Sony Director Phil Harrison Quietly Departed Google When Stadia Died
@Shigurui I agree that he did great work for Sony in the 90s, but that was practically 30 years ago.
'man used to be great, but is now sh1t' is an entirely valid narrative.

Really don't need any more games right now, but very tempted by Sifu for a tenner via my Turkey account.
Re: Tchia PS5 Patch Adds 60fps Support
@lets_do-this_1999 not at 30fps they don't!!
Re: Tchia PS5 Patch Adds 60fps Support
Would always take 60fps at 1080p over 30fps at 1440p, or whatever the resolution was in this case.
Will get straight into this one later now they've done this. 👍
