Re: Round Up: Baldur's Gate 3 Reviews Rate It as One of the Best RPGs Ever Made

Gamer_Guy

@PsBoxSwitchOwner Eurogamer giving it 4/5 was tiresomely predictable, they are desperate to swim against the tide on anything. Yet they'll give obscure indie games where the dev more often than not knows someone on their staff 5/5's all day long.

Once all the reviews are in, theirs won't carry enough weight to move the average score at all; it'll just be a footnote to remind everyone what a whack site they are these days.

Re: Reminder: 10 Excellent PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Leave Next Week

Gamer_Guy

@sop I loved it for the first hour or so, indifferent for the next couple, bored stiff after that.

It's like the review here said, it IS the best Far Cry game imo, but open worlds, mindless AI and too many alternatives that aren't a clone of the other 5 of these made it all meh for me.

Perfect for Extra though, tried and dropped with curiosity sated and no buyers remorse. You'll probably complete it or drop it well before they take it off.

And the pet crocodile is cute.

@ChrisDeku I've saved a fortune buying games from Turkey. FFXVI cost me about £25 day one, Spider-Man 2 pre-order even less. Even better, you can get PS+ Extra for about £15 a year. And play it all on your UK account. Insane.

They have increased pricing on some of the games recently, but even with that they're still cheaper than UK

Pre-ordered Baldurs Gate 3 the other day for just over twenty quid. 😀

Re: Baldur's Gate 3's Bear Sex Just the Tip of the 'Horny' Iceberg, Apparently

Gamer_Guy

@deathaxe it's just the usual few who aren't interested in the game and don't like the amount of coverage it's getting, or they're angry it's only on digital because they'd rather miss a game they'd love than not buy on disc, or they're angry because they simply don't understand this type of game etc etc

The 'getting angry over a videogame' thing is all too real for some!

Re: PS5 Sales Absolutely Explode in the UK Following Price Cut

Gamer_Guy

@Powerplay94 Very good point about the purchasing.

I have PS+ Extra but I still buy the games I'm really interested in, often in their first decent sale. I view Extra as a big library to browse and dip in and out of, rather than the be all and end all that GamePass seems to be.

Sony are fine, all the whipped up 'concern' is ridiculous and these figures prove that.

Re: PS5 Sales Absolutely Explode in the UK Following Price Cut

@themightyant isn't it just? And yet people still say Sony is 'finished' on a regular basis.

Ask me if I could only have one console out of Series X, Switch and PS5, heck include PC if you want, and it's an easy choice for me to go with Sony.

I'll probably even stump up for a Pro if/when it happens too. Not because I'm bothered about 8K, because I'm not at all, but because it will hopefully mean the end of any 30/60 framerate compromises. Not expecting 4K60, but a lot closer to it and with more stability.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 File Size Is Bloody Massive

Gamer_Guy

@Northern_munkey I looked at Far Cry 6 the other day, having downloaded it off Extra a while ago and turns out that crap is taking up somewhere north of 100GB, and I haven't even bothered to play it. So an easy solution for me on this occasion.

Having said that, I'd happily find a way of making 300GB free for this if I had to 😀

Re: Baldur's Gate 3's Narrative Is Structured Like a 'Spiderweb', with 17,000 Ending Permutations

Gamer_Guy

@Fiendish-Beaver Thanks for the detailed reply - you've managed to both tempt me for the game with your praise, and also dissuade it from it, as I very much enjoyed DOS2 years ago and LOVED Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous more recently, but I found those 2 quite the steep learning curves in themselves. May wait and watch some YT of the first few hours of this on release and see how confused I feel.

Re: Another 10 PS5, PS4 Games Leave PS Plus Extra, Premium in August

Gamer_Guy

@lacerz you're absolutely right, even the PS+ Essential games don't have this problem as they stay as long as your sub does, so they're effectively in your library.

I got a long free upgrade to Premium when these tiers started, but I've already realised I don't like the transient nature of the games on the higher tiers - I just can't get invested in playing them, and will definitely drop back to Essential when it expires.
