Re: GTA 5's Michael Voice Actor a Big Fan of GTA 6 Protagonist: 'Lucia's Hard, Man'

GeeEssEff

I was hoping the “everything is woke” brigade would all die out within the next 15-20 years but it seems muppets like Andrew Tate are creating a whole new generation of closed minded sad acts. The crazy part is these people have the audacity to call everyone else snow flakes when they are the ones offended by a female/gay/ethnic minority etc protagonist in a frikkin video game. Why do they care so much it doesn’t affect them in the slightest?!

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2

@Dalejrfanfreak The moment you use “leftist propaganda” as a criticism of this game you lose all credibility in my opinion. We live in a world filled with people of different races, religions and sexual orientations and as we become more globalised by the day the entertainment industry is acknowledging that their products are reaching more people and therefore should be more inclusive. Trying to make a wider audience feel more welcome in your game/film/comic is not “leftist propaganda” it’s a positive step forward in a world where these mediums are no longer predominantly consumed by straight white males. It’s insane to be that people can be so upset and offended by the world becoming a more friendly and accepting place.

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Baldur's Gate 3

GeeEssEff

While I don’t agree with this as a result it was always going to happen. Spider-Man 2 is one of the best selling PS games of the year and has broad appeal. I’ve seen as many comments on here saying they are unsure about getting BG3 as people praising it. When community votes are taken into account the game most people played and enjoyed is going to win because people won’t vote for a game they haven’t played regardless of how well it reviews. Either way don’t let it ruin your day people!

Re: Game of the Year: Robert's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

GeeEssEff

@MrGilly69 It is genuinely a masterpiece but does have a fairly steep learning curve if you don’t know anything about D&D or you haven’t played the Divinity games but it is well worth cracking. I think Divinity Original Sin 2 is on sale atm so might be worth giving that a go first to find out. If you like that you will love BG3 and if it’s not your thing at all I wouldn’t bother.

@Titntin If you are a fighting game fan you owe it to yourself mate! It simply feels amazing to play and constantly pushes you to be better. I have learned more about fighting game mechanics from the last 6 months with SF6 than I have in the previous 25 years of playing them.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 508

GeeEssEff

I will only get a few hours today before the non stop family & friend Christmas stuff starts so will probably play some Prodeus which I have been really enjoying so far. Deffo not usually my thing and I wouldn’t have bought it in a million years but it’s the perfect PS plus extra game.

Re: Rumour: Call of Duty 2025 Will Return to a Near-Future Setting in Sequel to Black Ops 2

GeeEssEff

I haven’t played through a COD campaign in over a decade so couldn’t care less about timelines and continuity but some of that Black ops multiplayer goodness is music to my ears. I can’t put my finger on why but I have always preferred Black Ops entries to the others. I even loved the ones which were generally considered mediocre like Cold War and Blops 3 which I think is still my most played PS game ever.

Re: Poll: Was The Game Awards 2023 Worth Watching?

GeeEssEff

Didn’t watch live because I was fast asleep but was pretty happy reading through the news this morning. The hello games open world and Sega modern versions of classic games were the highlights for me. It seemed like there were more announcements than usual even if a lot of them were just CGI trailers. Just give us some first party news Sony! It’s been super quiet for too long.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for December 2023 Announced

GeeEssEff

I’m angry. I spend £60 a year on essential and for that I expect at least 2 AAA GOTY contenders a month. Where was BG3 and Alan Wake 2? It’s Christmas FFS Sony. At the very least they should be comparing my library against my wishlist and curating three games that i personally haven’t played. Weak month, weak year, can’t wait to let my subscription lapse. Just depressed I am subscribed till 2031

Re: Next Gigantic Baldur's Gate 3 Patch, Feature News Coming This Week

GeeEssEff

Some features I would like in the future:

  • ability to search your party and non party members inventory
  • ability to rename backpacks, pouches, chests etc
  • A much easier way to move loose items from your travellers chest into backpacks/pouches within the chest.
  • ability to change your active party from a menu rather than needing to talk to a character to dismiss them then talk to the character to replace them (although I imagine this is a design choice for immersion and proper RPGing)
  • cross play…every single one of my friends who plays BG3 has it on steam.

General bug fixes in act 3 would certainly be welcome but so far I’ve not had anything game breaking and an overall improvement of load times would lead me to experiment a bit more. That said I have happily played this game for nearly 140 hours without those features and will no doubt put 140 more in for a second play through. Bugs and minor annoyances haven’t stopped this being a 10/10 game of the year for me.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS Portal?

GeeEssEff

I’m way more tempted by it now having read quite a lot of user feedback saying it works better than standard remote play on a phone. Unfortunately I can’t afford luxury purchases like this a month from Xmas so may look again next year.

Re: GTA Publisher Lays Out Complex Entertainment Per-Hour Pricing Algorithm

GeeEssEff

I don’t think he is saying that he just wants to make a crap game that’s long. I think there’s an underlying assumption here that users are only going to spend hours and hours on something they enjoy. I don’t pick up a game, dislike it within the first 2 hours and then think “well the next 60 hours are going to be a slog but here we go”…….I just play something else.

Overall my unpopular opinion is that I agree that games for the most part are still good value at £70. We like to pretend that gaming is the only inflation proof industry but with the price of literally everything else on earth flying up why shouldn’t games? They are bigger, better, smarter and more interesting than they have ever been before and a new AAA game is just £10 - £20 more than last gen which is like a 15% price increase. My grocery shop, petrol, clothes, gas/electric etc are 30-50% more expensive and those aren’t considered luxury entertainment they literally keep me alive. Frankly with the cost of development I think the industry overall has done us a solid and we are lucky a base edition AAA is still under £100. hides

Re: PS Plus Gets Heavy Discounts for Black Friday

GeeEssEff

@Scottyy I think they probably will but just haven’t announced it ahead of time. I extended my premium by a year last Black Friday. The main limiting factor for me is that I want to downgrade to extra but last time they offered extensions you could only stack on the service you were on.
