Re: Game of the Year: Graham's Top 5 PS4 Games of 2019

Ichiyama

Super Blood Hockey seems right up my alley, so to speak. NHL '94 is incontrovertibly the greatest game ever made, and I haven't found a suitable replacement in the fun department since. Might give it a go. Is it any good as a single-player game?

Dig the list.

Edit: Wait a minute - ESRB warnings are Strong Language and Use of Drugs? Not that I have a problem with either, mind, but unexpected.

Re: The Game Awards to Feature 'Around 10 New Games' and Much More

I want a game where David Byrne crash-lands his spaceship on a swamp planet and has to use a giant hammer to demolish his way to a mountain of dilythium crystals, developing a mutant power skill tree along the way. With a surprise twist ending involving J.R. from Dallas.

But that's probably just me.

Re: Rumour: PS5 and Xbox Scarlett Have Similar 'Very Powerful' Specs, Microsoft 'Well Behind' Sony in Terms of Communication

Ichiyama

The more tech advances, the less interested I find myself. Specs don't make games more fun, the consoles that contain them just make us more vulnerable. The contrast between innovation in gameplay and relatively advanced specs becomes more apparent as one continues to outpace the other.

Maybe I'll change my tune down the line after the 5 has been through its paces and I see what it offers.

Re: Guide: Long PS4 Games

Ichiyama

I'd dig a list of short games. Got a zillion epic 100+ hour games that I've never played. Like having War and Peace in your library.

Sad, sad little man.

Re: US PlayStation Store Sale Offers Discounts on Warner Bros PS4 Games

@swagbag713 I have them for PS3 and dig them. Thinking of re-buying for convenience, DLC, and tepid-remaster-curiosity. I love games that commit to an atmosphere, and they definitely do that. If you have a PS3, you could get Asylum used physical for a couple bucks and take it for a spin. I kinda prefer the color palette on the 3 anyway.

Re: Soapbox: 7/10 Is a Bad Review Score? The World's Gone Mad

Ichiyama

It's a combination of factors, I think. A preponderance of games are good, certainly serviceable. I suspect that a solid majority of games score 5 or better, with a plurality likely 7+ (allowing for possible confirmation bias, natch). Expectations shift up the scale accordingly, along with the knowledge that games take time, and if I'm going to sink 20, 30, or 100 or more hours into a game, I want it to be worth the investment.

Then, of course, there's the Internet. Bless its little collective heart.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Kill Cursors in Console Games?

Ichiyama

@ZAKtheRIPPER Hence "Soapbox". And folk can think of more than one thing at a time.

I find cursors moronic and a tad pitiful. Be what you are. Reminds me of Mike Martz. Not that Mr. Martz is pitiful. Just an analogy. Well, not that Mr. Martz himself is an analogy. Okay, I guess he might be an analogy in a given context, but I don't know what that context would be. Certainly not here. At least, not as far as I can see. Now I'm gonna have a sandwich.
