@get2sammyb I often think US media (particularly the perceived "large" gaming sites) will give a game an exceptionally high or low score just to get the clicks. I know that's awfully cynical of me, but that's just the way I am!! Of the sites I trust for reviews, Hardcore Gamer gave it a 5 out of 5. The review is worth reading as they do state the issues the game has - they just don't feel these things detract from the game overall.

@viciousarcanum Do what I do - take your machine over to a friend's house to download. Then you can take it home & play away!!

Which is why my personal new norm is to rarely (Torment: Tides of Numenera & Divinity: Original Sin 2 being the exceptions) pre-order any games. I can wait until reviews are out. There isn't a statue, soundtrack, piece of dlc, or anything else I can think of that can persuade me to change my stance.

It's not the option I'd prefer, but it's great to have it for people who'd otherwise end up frustrated & abandoning the game. The more options to enable more people to enjoy a game, the better! 😺

@get2sammyb Yes, I think you are indicative of the market. I haven't watched a movie on disc since early in the PS3's life. Until all this talk about the Pro, I didn't even know there WAS an upgraded blu-ray format!!!!

When my current PS4 dies (which, with the amount of time I play, it eventually will) I'll replace it with the Pro. Won't cost more than I originally paid, & it's an upgrade. Nice that we'll have the choice between it & the cheaper Slim.

Oh, the irony! I'm not fond of the normal DW formula, but love tactical games. I've been hoping they'd announce a western release for this - maybe with so little sales they will just to try to recoup some of the cost. (Even though I'm more of a disc fan, they could release it digital-only to defray some of the expense.)

What's really nutty about this is that the broadcast didn't even start until 10p (EST). They show full frontal nudity (of real humans!) on ElRey (as an example to show it's not just on "premium" channels) from 9p on.

I don't remember where, but I'm pretty sure I read that you can't manually save in this game. (I take that to mean there's just one save slot that the game saves to in its selected areas.) Is this true? If so, could you please include this information when reviewing games in the future? It's my top gaming pet peeve!!

From what's been shown, I don't understand how FFXV could win the best RPG award over Horizon. (I was/am a big FF fan, but am still wary of XV.)

I enjoy the combat in Dragon Age, but have never been able to get into Mass Effect's. Maybe that will change with Andromeda. I'll wait for reviews & streams of gameplay.

Between Persona 5 & Horizon: Zero Dawn I'll be too busy in early 2017 anyway.

@Neolit @get2sammyb It did happen on PS4 when I downloaded Warframe. Soon as it asked, I uninstalled it & never went back. It's what prompted me to ask about Neverwinter.

I've never played an MMO, but am curious to try one. Just have one question - will they ask for a credit card number? I've downloaded a couple of "free" games in the past only to have them ask for a cc# as part of their set-up. I immediately uninstalled the games. If they're free, they don't need this info up front - ask for it if I decide to pay for content.

@finalstan It did get a physical release in Japan, but I'm pretty sure it's only digital here in the states.

I'm also wondering how well this new battle system will actually play. All the reviews in the world really won't give me the first hand experience I'll need to make a judgment (just as you can't really hear how a song sounds from a review), so I've decided to just put FFXV on my Christmas wish list rather than gambling the $60+ away myself.

I'll spend my money on Persona 5 - which I should be done with just in time for this present!!! 😊

It's still hard to believe the last console Persona game was for PS2!!!! Talk about a long time between drinks! I'm optimistic that a release date will accompany this forthcoming live broadcast.

I don't know how many years apart it was from initial release to its second iteration (for me, I bought my first PS1 at the end of 1997 so it wasn't that long), but remember when they came out with the PS1.5 (my name)? Big difference being the addition of the two sticks on the controller, & Ape Escape being the first game to require it.

I think that's where Sony gets the idea it'll work out ok this time around. I never bought the 1.5, but my tv died a couple of months ago, & I ended up with a 4k set (was only $700) so I'd consider buying the new console down the road. Not when it first comes out - I always wait at least 6 months to see if there are any new hardware issues before purchase.

I've never had PS+. I don't game with others, & since its inception, they've never offered enough games that I was interested in to recoup the cost of the service. It's just more cost effective for me to buy the (few) games I want.

@themcnoisy Yeah, over the years I've heard nothing but good things about Lost Odyssey. It's the only game I really feel I missed out on by not owning a Microsoft console.

@Expa0 I also wish they'd gone the turn based route. Particularly now, with many turn based computer role playing games on/coming to PS4, would have been the perfect time.

@themcnoisy I agree with your overall assessment of the FF franchise. While XIII wasn't anywhere near the best in the series, I do think its battle system is woefully underrated. I'm hoping XVI, like IX, will be an attempt to recapture the series classic roots.

After seeing a frame rate comparison of pc vs. ps4 & x-1 over at Shacknews (in a piece decrying the consoles' poor showing vs. pc), I'm not at all concerned about this issue. I saw such a negligible difference it wasn't worth a moment's worry.

I've never played any of the Uncharted games either. I'd like to watch you give 'em a go!

I hang on to most of my games. It's only when I don't enjoy it (try hard to avoid that, but nothing is 100%) that I trade it in. Except when I say I trade, it's not to a store. I go to Gametz.com & swap with someone. So I get a game I've been interested in for one I don't care for. It's a free site (trading costs only the postage to send it to the other person). I've used the site for over a decade & couldn't be more happy with it. Can't do that with digital which is one of the reasons I still prefer physical.

Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (145 hours in at the moment)!! Has anyone tried Joe Dever's Lone Wolf Console Edition? If so, how is it? I can't find a review for it (specifically the console version) anywhere!

I'll be keeping an eye out for this one! Love me some turn-based gameplay!!

I'd say I can't wait to sink my teeth into this game, but I really want to see if I can get through it without killing anyone!

Being able to get through the game without killing anyone sounds intriguing. Wonder if they'll let you feed off the "lesser vampires" in place of humans (only way I can think of to keep the character alive).

"... it now claims that Vampyr will be its biggest undertaking yet" - so you could say they have a big stake in this!!

@xMEADx I have to admit, the only time I really notice the difference is after I've been playing the PS3 (as I am now with Trails of Cold Steel). The 4's controller lasts about 7 hours before it needs to be charged so I always tell myself it's time for a break anyway! 😊

If it's not the LED & speakers, why is the PS4 battery's life so much shorter than PS3's?

A Dragon Age game in my favorite genre?! As long as it's on PS4, I'm there!!!! (I don't game on my computer & don't have a smart phone/handheld.)

Finished my replay of Suikoden V a week or so ago. Now that my pocketbook's gotten a breather since Christmas, picked up Trails of Cold Steel. Neat game so far - shaping up to be, imo, the second best game of 2015. (Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition being 1st.)

Fun fact: The Grammys were inaugurated in the 50's to divert attention from Rock 'n Roll, & put the spotlight back on more "traditional" pop music.

I tried it at a friend's house a few years ago. Not my cup of tea. Same friend's son loves it though.

I voted for Vampyr, but Detroit: Become Human sounds like it'll have a very interesting story (now if they'll just get away from QTE gameplay). One more thing I'd like to know more about is Josef Fares' (Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons) new, unnamed project.

Replaying Suikoden V (determined to get all 108 stars!). Will also be downloading Bastion & Transistor as they're on sale this weekend for less than $10 combined!!! (Even my cheap self can't resist that deal!)

Yes, I did play Wasteland on PS4. It's not as good as Divinity, but it's still very good. You're an icon on the overworld map (as opposed to your character); save before you exit an area as it is very prone to crashing when you leave (all areas - none worse than others); the frequency & depth of puzzles is lacking compared to Divinity; still, lots of weighty decisions to make; very good battle system (being more gunplay it's very different than Divinity's, but it is turn-based which I love vs. action).

To give you an idea of my opinions, my top 3 games this year were: 1. Divinity, 2. Wasteland 2, 3. Witcher 3.

@kyleforrester87 Yes, it's a fantastic game! I'm about 110 hours in & almost to the Source Temple (my first time through). I hope it sold well enough on consoles for them to bring the second one to PS4.

I usually wait at least 5 years before replaying a game (that way it almost feels like a new experience)!

Divinity has become my all time favorite game!! I also hope the second one makes it to PS4.

@kyleforrester87 I remember the demos for VIII & XII (didn't play the one for VII) being underwhelming so you're right - can't go by that. I'm hoping XV ends up being a return to form (I felt XIII got progressively worse with each release).
