@Bleachedsmiles - "Trust if they could spend billions on an acquisition they'd make a 'big deal' of it." I would like to point you to the following comment I made "I think that we shouldn't expect an acquisition announcement to occur during future events, unless it's a HUGE acquisition". My point was that they wouldn't make a big deal of it UNLESS it was a BIG Acquisition.
Additionally I would like to refer you to the article provided by @RBMango in which said article, it states that Firesprite are currently working on two big upcoming games, both of which don't sound like they fit into that VR category, then again if that latest rumor is to be believed, Sony are trying to build games that can be played through VR as an option if you want it, meaning you can play through many upcoming games in VR if you want to. So while I do believe they were acquired to create PSVR2 experiences, I don't think it's fair to assume that's all they'll be working on.
At some point they really should attempt to do a PROPER Crash & Spyro crossover video game, one in a similar vein as Crash Twinsanity,, by which I mean; interconnected levels with an overarching story, and as they progress they encounter villains from each respective game, complete mini-games and be forced to collect Gems for Moneybags in order to progress. I know it'll never happen... but it should.
@Tielo - They will likely have to see it through to the end, just like Insomniac Games did with that Oculus game they were working on at the time they were acquired, Stormland I think it was called.
The announcement of the acquisition of Firesprite Games confirms one thing in my mind going forward, and that is that we probably shouldn't expect acquisition announcements whenever Sony does an event (during the event specifically), so far every time Sony has announced an acquisition, it's always before or after an event, but never during an event, with the exception being Insomniac Games during Gamescom 2019, but overall the announcements are pretty random. I bring this up because I think and I could be wrong, but I think that we shouldn't expect an acquisition announcement to occur during future events, unless it's a HUGE acquisition. As such I wouldn't go into this event expecting them to announce the acquisition of Bluepoint, perhaps after the event, but not during the event. I don't think Sony are aiming to make a spectacle of an acquisition the way Microsoft does, by which I mean; don't expect Sony to come out on a stage and make a big deal of an acquisition, it just doesn't seem to be their style.
Not exactly a mind-blowing acquisition, but one that certainly makes sense for PlayStation to make, definitely makes the return of WipeOut more likely now, and The Persistance was quite a unique game, an interesting blend of Bioshock & Dead Space. I wouldn't mind seeing another First-Person Horror Game from these guys.
I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Remedy, just could never get into their games... EXCEPT Alan Wake, which is a damn good game, and can't wait to play it again.
He can Rest in Peace knowing he contributed in creating one of the most fun and truly badass weapons in Gaming History, and getting to wield the Blades of Chaos outside of Kratos's house, was truly an incredibly gratifying and nostalgic moment, cementing once and for all; that this is still the God of War we remember, and George Mawle... your legacy and your memories will live on through these two amazing weapons you forged for a new generation of God of War fans, Rest in Peace brother.
Hopefully I'll be able to download & play this either tomorrow or the next day, hoping to play it before Life is Strange True Colors releases, but man I just have too much on my plate, I still need to finish Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, Spider-Man Remastered, Kaze and the Wild Masks, Among the Sleep, Dark Souls Remastered & Dark Souls 3, and I still haven't had a chance to play Returnal, Biomutant, Baldo: The Guardian Owls and Timothy's Night. Not to mention all the games I wanna go back and replay sometime soon, like Sly 3, Infamous, Kingdom Hearts 2 & Birth by Sleep, Detroit Become Human & Spider-Man Miles Morales.
The upgrade fiasco doesn't affect me so I can't really speak on the matter, I buy most games for PS4 AND PS5, just like I buy most games on PS4/PS5 & Switch. I bought Miles Morales, Sackboy and Resident Evil Village on PS4 & PS5, will be doing the same for HFW, God of War & Dying Light 2. Why do I do this? I just like owning games on multiple systems, especially games I know will be great, plus I also have some friends who either can't afford to buy a lot of games OR just don't have a PS5 yet, so whatever the case; they can just borrow them from me. Also sometimes I just buy games just so I have them, sometimes I buy games knowing one of friends will want to play it, even if I have zero interest in said game.
I wonder if Alan Wake Remastered could be announced at the PS5 Showcase alongside the announcement of Alan Wake 2, I would absolutely lose it if this were to happen.
Wish there was a Mini-Golf game out there that is reminiscent of Mini-Golf in the PS2 title: Stuart Little 3: Big Photo Adventure, now that was a surprisingly fun game back in the day, wish I still had my copy.
I think Insomniac Games has something up there sleeves, I have a hard time believing that they've only been working on Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart & Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games are masters of juggling multiple projects at once, and I think they either have a Sunset Overdrive Definitive Edition OR Resistance Reboot in the works, and if a Sunset Overdrive Definitive Edition were to be announced, I wouldn't be too shocked if they're also working on a Sunset Overdrive 2, may even have a teaser lined up ready to go.
I'd be down for a Destroy All Humans 2 Remake as @would_you_kindly suggested, and a SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom 2 as @bpomber suggested
@velio84 - If the Bluepoint Acquisition isn't announced within the next two weeks, then I think we can truly brush off that 'Welcome to the Family' tweet as nothing more than a mistake, I HOPE Sony have acquired them, but if they had, I feel they will announce it within the next two weeks, before, during or after the PS Showcase Event, if not, we'll just have to accept the Bluepoint Acquisition just ain't happening.
I'd be happy if we just got some gameplay for God of War and perhaps one BIG surprise announcement, like say the announcement of a new remake from Bluepoint OR the announcement of a Resistance Reboot OR hell just the announcement of a Sunset Overdrive Definitive Edition or Sunset Overdrive 2.
Juggling between Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, Spider-Man Remastered & Among the Sleep, mostly Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut though. However I might take a break from these games to try out Timothy's Night & Baldo: The Guardian Owls.
Just saw the trailer for this game yesterday, immediately piqued my interest and bought the game this morning, might take a break from Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut to give this game a fair go. ALSO for those who are fans of Ni No Kuni, might want to check out Baldo: The Guardian Owls, which also released today as well.
Replaying through Ghost of Tsushima from the beginning, forgot how much fun I had on my first playthrough, one of the few open-world games I actually want to collect & complete everything, and I really didn't think the game could look better than it already did on PS4, but goddamn the game is breathtaking on PS5, the color and vibrancy of said colors really pop out more on better hardware. Also despite the inclusion of weapon lock-on for the Director's Cut, I found myself never using it, plus I feel like Sucker Punch must've gone back and done some serious tweaking, because so far, I've not once felt like I wasn't attacking the intended enemy, it always feels like I'm attacking my intended target at all times, whereas in the original version it was more finicky and I often found myself going after the wrong target. This game is sure to keep me busy for the next month.
@sanderson72 - So you want them to announce what they're working on before they're ready to announce it, and then proceed to complain about the fact they announced it too soon?
When it comes to PlayStation, there just ain't no pleasing people, recall how the PS4 was labelled the 'IndieStation' for it's heavy reliance and promotion of Indies, cue the last 4 years and suddenly 'SoNy DoN'T SuPPoRT MAH InDIEs' but whenever they host State of Plays and even the PS5 Reveal Event, the primary complaint ALWAYS seems to be Sony highlighting the Indies, so which is it? You want the Indies or not? Because there's so much mixed messaging that I don't think ya'll know what the hell ya'll want.
And of course you have those that believe PlayStation needs to create more Multiplayer Games, because god only knows that if there's one thing this industry needs is more Multiplayer Games (Sarcasm). PlayStation's biggest strength is their Single-Player Story-Driven games, and Sony's focus should remain where it excels, additionally PlayStation's strength is also what helps distinguish themselves from most developers because of just how few truly great Single-Player Story-Driven games there are nowadays, Multiplayer Games are a dime a dozen, whereas quality Single-Player Story-Driven games are becoming fewer and fewer by the year. Honestly if every PlayStation First-Party Studio came out tomorrow and revealed all upcoming games in development are multiplayer-centric, then I would consider that a serious downgrade and a waste of their talents.
And I'll admit that Sony being so silent lately is a tad annoying, but I also know that if Sony came out tomorrow and announced a slate of new games and updates to already announced games, the topic of discussion will fall on release dates / release windows and whether or not they announced it 'too early', but the same people who WILL complain the most are the ones that were demanding / begging for new games / updates to already announced games, so essentially they want news / trailers before they're ready, and proceed to to b@tch and moan when they show it too early.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; whenever it comes to Sony / PlayStation, they're damned if they do, damned if they don't.
The only thing I would like for them to do regarding the PS Store is to give me the option to buy games separately as opposed to having to buy games in bulk. For example; today I added 4 games into cart, but only wanted to buy 3 of the games because the 4th game is still a tad too pricey for my taste (Zanki Zero: Last Beginning for $81.95 AUS). However all games you add to your cart, you have to pay for the lot, even though I just want to buy 3 of the games, while keeping the 4th game in my cart for purchase later on down the line. I hope this makes sense.
Probably the only game from the PS5 Reveal Showcase I completely forgot existed, I still intend on getting the game, who knows? It may end up surprising people.
Only BlooberTeam game I liked, though I feel like an idiot because despite playing through it twice, I couldn't seem to piece the story together, I also wonder what was real and what wasn't real. Watched a couple videos on YT but couldn't find a video that thoroughly explains everything.
Among the Sleep Enhanced Edition, Ghost of a Tale and I need to replay Intruders Hide & Seek since I only have a handful of trophies left, I might as well shoot for that platinum trophy.
Sounds like the future for AstroBot is looking bright, then again it could also be a new Ape Escape game, either way after what they were able to achieve with Astro's Playroom, I'm all in whatever they have in store for us. If it is a bigger & better AstroBot game, I hope they go the extra mile with the PlayStation references, maybe even incorporate AstroBotified worlds of PlayStation games, like Haven City from Jak & Daxter, Yharnam from Bloodborne, Empire City from Infamous, Paris from Sly Cooper, Gallowmere from MediEvil, Craftworld from LittleBigPlanet etc. Just go all out with the concept.
Imagine an Astro's Playroom 2 but instead of just referencing iconic PlayStation characters, have Astro constantly hop between the worlds of these PlayStation Franchises but remade to suit the platforming gameplay of AstroBot. For example: Infamous, imagine a side-scrolling level version of Empire City, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, being shot at by cute little ReaperBots from the background, grinding on rails, then at the end you fight the Beast. Another example: getting to explore the Streets of Yharnam from Bloodborne, even altering Astro's playstyle so that Astro may fight the enemies similarly to Bloodborne's Combat but with AstroBot's signature charm. At the very least I hope they continue with the Easter Eggs & References, there were plenty of PlayStation Franchises that were not referenced in Astro's Playroom, like Twisted Metal, Legend of Dragoon, WILD ARMS, Dark Cloud, Demon Souls, The Mark of Kri etc.
If not a new AstroBot game, I would gladly take a new Ape Escape game.
Weird to see people make such a big fuss over these Director's Cuts, have we all suddenly forgot the existence of Definitive Editions & Game of the Year Editions? Or do we just pretend those don't exist simply to have a reason to complain about something?
9/10 for me, which is incredible, especially considering the fact that I generally don't much care for Samurai or Ninja genres of games. So the fact that Sucker Punch were able to create a samurai game that I not only liked, but loved, is an incredible feat and a true testament to Sucker Punch as a Developer.
Plus I think it's awesome how Ghost of Tsushima was able to have such a positive impact on the real-life island of Tsushima, always great whenever a video game is able to make a positive real-life impact on the world, especially during difficult times as these.
Really wish PlayStation / Sucker Punch had made a 1-hour long Documentary of the Making of Ghost of Tsushima, like with God of War, Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Demon Souls Remake etc. Really would love to see and understand the thought process and the trials and tribulations that went into the creation of this excellent game.
I just hope the back-and-forth between Ellie & Bill is as funny as it was in the game, I absolutely loved the dynamic those two had.
Ellie: Why not use one of these cars? Bill: Oh my god you're a genius! This whole time why didn't I ever think of using one of THESE cars? Ellie: Ooookay don't be a dick
@nessisonett - Aw it's a shame you didn't like Chernobyl, me and my Mum watched it and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but we tend to like those types of shows / movies that depict real-life events like Argo & Patriots Day. Then again Chernobyl had very slow pacing, and it doesn't take til episode 3 for it to really pick up speed and get good, but I understand Chernobyl ain't for everyone.
@FatalBubbles - I remember hearing back in December of 2020 that the game is in a playable state. However because of COVID they weren't able to start on Motion Capture, however I wouldn't say that this is a cause for concern. My guess is that they've already completed a good majority of the playable segments of the game, and are now moving onto Motion Capture & Voice Acting which normally occurs much early on in development. That being said; the game is still likely a year away at the very least, it really depends on how they went about developing the game with the limitations that COVID imposed, and how they were able to work around it.
@J2theEzzo - No Ren & Stimpy wasn't 'before my time' but the airing time for the show was rather inconsistent here in Australia, and I was just never able to catch it whenever it was on TV. Additionally the toons that I did list I listed because they are just as integral to Nickelodeon as Spongebob, Invader Zim, The Wild Thornberry's etc.
Really hoping Jenny Wakeman (My Life as a Teenage Robot), Timmy Turner (Fairly Oddparents), Jimmy Neutron (Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius) & Luna Loud (The Loud House) are in this! Also who the heck is Powdered Toast Man?
Funny how I'm not seeing the same level of 'outrage' about THIS. But ya'll were quick to jump on Sony's ass about Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut while simultaneously forgetting the existence of Definitive Editions & GOTY Editions. Come on people! Keep that same energy HERE that ya'll had for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, don't pick and choose when to be upset.
Was planning on playing it this weekend, but my best friend managed to finally get his hands on a PS5, but Returnal is currently sold out in my area, and he really wanted to play it so I let him borrow my copy. But at least when I finally do get around to playing the game for myself, I got someone to go to for tips and tricks.
Naughty Bear was a surprisingly fun game but plagued with a LOT of bugs, glitches and crashes, the crashes especially, the game seemed to crash every 20 - 30 minutes for me. I never got to complete the game because of the crashes, I just got sick of the game constantly crashing on me to the point I just stopped playing it, I ended up selling the game years later, I kind of regret doing that.
Now there is NO EXCUSE, anyone who has not played the underrated gem that is A Plague's Tale NEEDS to play it. This is NOT a request, this is an order! A Plague's Tale was hands down the best game of 2019 that deserves way more love and attention than it currently gets.
I still firmly believe Sony have already acquired Bluepoint, but are waiting for a specific reveal to announce it, by which I mean I think the acquisition reveal will come shortly before or after PlayStation's next big event where they will reveal A) Bloodborne Director's Cut, or B) Metal Gear Solid Remake, or C) both. There's no way the Bluepoint 'Welcome to the Family' banner was an accident.
I'll happily take a Dead Space Remake, honestly I don't think I would trust EA to continue the Dead Space series so a Remake is probably the best option, not sure how much they can improve however, unless they truly decide to put in that effort and make it as close to the Resident Evil 2 Remake levels of detail.
Also the announcement of the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut may lend some credence to those rumors about Sony being in the final stages of acquiring Arc System Works, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Weird to see people make such a big fuss over these Director's Cuts, have we all suddenly forgot the existence of Definitive Editions & Game of the Year Editions? Or do we just pretend those don't exist simply to have a reason to complain about something?
Re: Ubisoft Announces Tom Clancy's XDefiant, 6v6 Free-to-Play Arena Shooter for PS5, PS4
Another generic shooter, like we haven't got enough of those...
Re: Poll: Ghost of Tsushima Released One Year Ago Today - What Review Score Would You Give It Now?
Re: The Last of Us TV Show Now Has Its Bill, Frank, and More
I just hope the back-and-forth between Ellie & Bill is as funny as it was in the game, I absolutely loved the dynamic those two had.
Ellie: Why not use one of these cars?
Bill: Oh my god you're a genius! This whole time why didn't I ever think of using one of THESE cars?
Ellie: Ooookay don't be a dick
Re: The Last of Us TV Show Now Has Its Bill, Frank, and More
@nessisonett - Oh yeah you're right, I wasn't aware he had already been casted.
Re: The Last of Us TV Show Now Has Its Bill, Frank, and More
@nessisonett - Aw it's a shame you didn't like Chernobyl, me and my Mum watched it and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but we tend to like those types of shows / movies that depict real-life events like Argo & Patriots Day. Then again Chernobyl had very slow pacing, and it doesn't take til episode 3 for it to really pick up speed and get good, but I understand Chernobyl ain't for everyone.
Re: The Last of Us TV Show Now Has Its Bill, Frank, and More
Now we just need to know who will be playing the brothers; Henry & Sam, creepy cannibal David & lackey James & Tommy's wife.
Re: The Last of Us TV Show Now Has Its Bill, Frank, and More
@nessisonett - He was in Chernobyl, he was that whiny Plant Director that kept turning a blind eye to the incident.
Re: Rumour: Mocap for the Next Spider-Man Game Has Begun
@FatalBubbles - I remember hearing back in December of 2020 that the game is in a playable state. However because of COVID they weren't able to start on Motion Capture, however I wouldn't say that this is a cause for concern. My guess is that they've already completed a good majority of the playable segments of the game, and are now moving onto Motion Capture & Voice Acting which normally occurs much early on in development.
That being said; the game is still likely a year away at the very least, it really depends on how they went about developing the game with the limitations that COVID imposed, and how they were able to work around it.
Re: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Finally Lets You Beat Up Reptar as Nigel Thornberry
Re: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Finally Lets You Beat Up Reptar as Nigel Thornberry
@Floki - Dang I never watched Ren & Stimpy
Re: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Finally Lets You Beat Up Reptar as Nigel Thornberry
Re: FIFA 22 PS4 to PS5 Upgrade Locked Behind £90 Ultimate Edition
Funny how I'm not seeing the same level of 'outrage' about THIS. But ya'll were quick to jump on Sony's ass about Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut while simultaneously forgetting the existence of Definitive Editions & GOTY Editions.
Come on people! Keep that same energy HERE that ya'll had for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, don't pick and choose when to be upset.
Re: Soapbox: What Makes Returnal So Special
Was planning on playing it this weekend, but my best friend managed to finally get his hands on a PS5, but Returnal is currently sold out in my area, and he really wanted to play it so I let him borrow my copy. But at least when I finally do get around to playing the game for myself, I got someone to go to for tips and tricks.
Re: Cult PS3 Serial Killer Naughty Bear Makes Unexpected Dead By Daylight Cameo
Naughty Bear was a surprisingly fun game but plagued with a LOT of bugs, glitches and crashes, the crashes especially, the game seemed to crash every 20 - 30 minutes for me. I never got to complete the game because of the crashes, I just got sick of the game constantly crashing on me to the point I just stopped playing it, I ended up selling the game years later, I kind of regret doing that.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for July 2021?
Now there is NO EXCUSE, anyone who has not played the underrated gem that is A Plague's Tale NEEDS to play it. This is NOT a request, this is an order! A Plague's Tale was hands down the best game of 2019 that deserves way more love and attention than it currently gets.
Re: Sony Snapped Up Housemarque Before Someone Else Could
I still firmly believe Sony have already acquired Bluepoint, but are waiting for a specific reveal to announce it, by which I mean I think the acquisition reveal will come shortly before or after PlayStation's next big event where they will reveal A) Bloodborne Director's Cut, or B) Metal Gear Solid Remake, or C) both.
There's no way the Bluepoint 'Welcome to the Family' banner was an accident.
Re: Rumour: Future Dead Space Title Actually a Remake with New Content
I'll happily take a Dead Space Remake, honestly I don't think I would trust EA to continue the Dead Space series so a Remake is probably the best option, not sure how much they can improve however, unless they truly decide to put in that effort and make it as close to the Resident Evil 2 Remake levels of detail.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Free Update Adds Combat Lock-On, Option to Hide Quiver, and New Legends Mode
Also the announcement of the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut may lend some credence to those rumors about Sony being in the final stages of acquiring Arc System Works, but we'll just have to wait and see.
