Re: Japan Simply Isn't Enough Anymore as Square Enix Calls Global Market a 'Critical' Priority

@UltimateOtaku91 - Can't disagree with a lot of what you've said, you make some great points, and yes JRPG's can be very lengthy experiences, I played Ys 8 about 2 months ago, played it for two weeks straight and suddenly got burnt out and had to take a break from it, so yeah I agree length can be an issue for some, but that's usually why after playing a lengthy game, I'll then play two short experiences and a medium-length game before I jump back into another lengthy experience.

Problem is with games based on Anime is that you have someone like Bandai Namco who has ahold of the licenses for most of the well-known Anime IP's, and they don't give the Developers a big enough budget to make a truly spectacular game because they don't have a lot of faith that gamers will even buy it, so most games based on Anime end up feeling pretty basic and uninspired, which is a shame because Japanese Developers are some of the most creative developers out there when given the time, money and resources to show off the full extent of their creativity.

Re: Japan Simply Isn't Enough Anymore as Square Enix Calls Global Market a 'Critical' Priority

JustPlainLoco

@Snake_V5 - If the sales for JRPG's on Xbox were acceptable to begin with to warrant porting them over, Microsoft wouldn't need to pay them to bring them over in the first place, the Devs would just do so.

Obviously, these Developers evaluated the 'risk vs rewards' of putting their games on Xbox based on data from past games already available on Xbox, and deemed it not worth the effort, I mean why else would they put Octopath Traveller on Xbox, but then choose to skip Xbox with Octopath Traveller 2? Logical conclusion is that not enough people on Xbox bought/played the first Octopath Traveller, so Square Enix just decided putting Octopath Traveller 2 on Xbox wasn't worth the effort.

Guess my last comment is better suited for this topic instead:
Problem is that most gamers, even the hardcore gamers, don't seem to want to support most Japanese Games, not willing to branch out and try something new, thus purposely miss out some truly great games like Persona, Danganronpa, Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, AI the Somnium Files, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, Ni No Kuni, Final Fantasy, Ys, Trails of Cold Steel, Chrono Trigger, Tales of, etc.

Gamers really need to branch out and have more variety in the games they play, instead of funneling themselves into a select few categories and limiting themselves to what's familiar and safe.

Also the dumba$$ notion that 'Anime' Games are for losers & virgins doesn't help either, the fact that there are morons that genuinely believe AND say this is utterly pathetic, and another reason why the gene pool needs a lifeguard.

Started A Plagues Tale Requiem, a little too action-heavy compared to the first one, but still immensely enjoyable, by the time I finish it, my copy of Gotham Knights should be here, if not, I'll jump back into RE Village and buy the Winters Expansion to play the Shadow of Rose DLC, as my RE Village Gold Edition probably won't arrive til Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Re: Hands On: Crunchy Combat Shines in PS5, PS4's Wildly Impressive The Callisto Protocol

JustPlainLoco

Is it weird that I'm most interested in seeing all the unique death animations in Calisto Protocol?

Dead Space had some truly unique & messed up death animations, like the acid-spewing Necromorph spewing acid down Isaac's throat, or the Necromorph Head that rips off Isaac's Head and the then it takes control of Isaac's Body, or the infamous Eye Surgery death that made me fear needles to the eye more than I already do.

Re: Naughty Dog to Partner with PSS Visual Arts for Unannounced AAA Title

JustPlainLoco

Doubt it's Uncharted or The Last of Us related, speaking of The Last of Us, I'm kind of hoping the next The Last of Us game focuses on an entirely new protagonist and a fresh cast of new characters, show us other parts of the world and how it's affected by the Cordyceps, new locations mean new variants of infected, and new characters means new ways to dispatch Infected & other Survivors, new weapons etc.
Plus I think Ellie's story is pretty much over, and I don't really want to play as Abby again, found her to be an incredibly average character, even IF her sections were some of the best in the game, seriously that part where you climb the skyscraper, climb across to the other skyscraper, then climbing down that skyscraper, it was incredible.
So yeah really want to play as someone completely new with a new cast of characters in a different corner of the world with new infected.

I'm supposed to be playing A Plague's Tale Requiem, but I foolishly decided to replay Dying Light 2 the day before A Plagues Tale Requiem released, and have been playing Dying Light 2 since, it seems quite a few of my issues with Dying Light 2 have since been patched, making Dying Light 2 a far greater experience than I first gave it credit.

Wish LEGO Harry Potter got the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga treatment, all 8 movies in one ultimate LEGO game package, with voice-acting taken directly from the movies, being able to explore in and around Hogwarts like you could with Middle-Earth in LEGO Lord of the Rings, and the inclusion of side-quest ALSO from LEGO Lord of the Rings.

Re: Microsoft Claims That Insomniac Developed Marvel's Wolverine Will Launch in 2023

JustPlainLoco

Insomniac Games themselves already stated that they are completely focused on the development of Spider-Man 2 before focusing all their efforts into Wolverine. While it's true that Insomniac does have two teams, while developing 2018's Spider-Man, they had the majority of both teams working on it, so I imagine the process for Spider-Man 2 is the same while likely having a small team working on Wolverine, once Spider-Man 2 is done, development of Wolverine will shift into high gear.

Microsoft only included Wolverine to make the argument that Sony don't need Call of Duty because of all First-Party Games and Second-Party & Third-Party deals that PS has... and whose fault is that Phil? You have 30+ Studios and you mean to tell me you can't release a steady stream of games on a yearly basis, yet Sony AND Nintendo can?

Most likely scenario is that Wolverine is a late 2024 or early 2025 game, not to mention Insomniac Games said themselves that Wolverine was still in the pre-production phase when it was revealed in September 2021. Insomniac Games may be experts in their craft of developing multiple games at once & releasing them in a timely manner, but they're still human, Wolverine not coming in 2023, so let's just allow these wizards to work their magic, Wolverine is guaranteed to be something amazing, just as Spider-Man & Spider-Man: Miles Morales were.

@LiamCroft - I have 2 questions, but one is a two-part question depending on your answer.

How are the Boss Fights in comparison to the Batman Arkham Games?

And are there any surprise villains in this game that haven't been revealed officially? If the answer is yes, how many surprise villains are there?

Re: Red Dead Redemption No Longer Playable on PS5, PS4 in a Troubling Sign of the Times

JustPlainLoco

They supposedly scrapped plans for a Red Dead Redemption Remaster to focus efforts on GTA 6, but surely they could have delegated the Remaster to a small team like Naughty Dog did with The Last of Us Remake, Rockstar has 2000+ Employees, just delegate a team of 50-100 people and make it happen.
Honestly I'd much rather a Red Dead Redemption Remaster, Bully Remake & Bully 2 over GTA6, after GTA5, I don't much interest in GTA6, in my opinion; GTA San Andreas was the last GREAT GTA game, every other subsequent GTA game was simply okay.

Re: Red Dead Redemption No Longer Playable on PS5, PS4 in a Troubling Sign of the Times

JustPlainLoco

Another reason why All-Digital & Cloud Gaming SHOULDN"T be the future, it doesn't benefit gaming in the slightest, it simply lessens the options people have to play games how they want to, and the developers can remove games whenever they want over really dumb reasons and we have zero control, we simply have to take it on the chin and accept it, but some stupidly believe "This is great for gamers!' when it really isn't.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 448

@kyleforrester87 - Dark Souls 2 gets WAY too much hate, while Dark Souls 1 is still my personal favourite of the Dark Souls Trilogy, Dark Souls 2 is still a great game, I love the world overall, great well-structured level variety, the atmosphere, the majority of the Bosses are fun & challenging but not overly difficult, there's a LOT more enemy variety, and it's just overall a great game, I truly don't understand why it's so universally panned.
My only real criticism, is that it's easy to get lost while playing, to the point you're not sure where you're supposed to go to progress forward, this is mostly due to there being more branching paths.

Re: Shocking: Sony Doesn't Want Game Pass on PlayStation, Microsoft Has a Pop at PS Plus

JustPlainLoco

Some individuals trying to play like Sony's acquisition of Bungie is equal to Microsoft buying Bethesda & Activision AND keeping established IP's off of PlayStation is at all comparable is a sad and poorly thought-out comparison.
Oh and trying to compare Sony making Timed Exclusive deals or getting Exclusive Content in games versus Xbox full-on gatekeeping Established IP's is an even stupider comparison.

Re: Shocking: Sony Doesn't Want Game Pass on PlayStation, Microsoft Has a Pop at PS Plus

JustPlainLoco

@truerbluer - True, and studios like Sucker Punch, Bend Studio, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Game, Insomniac Games, Bluepoint, Housemarque, Media Molecule & Firesprite primarily made games just for PlayStation, the exception here is really only Insomniac Games, however Insomniac Games never found much success when they did venture away from PlayStation, FUSE was a joke thanks in large part to EA's meddling, Sunset Overdrive sold less than 2 Million Copies across Xbox & PC AND Phil Spencer chose not to greenlight Sunset Overdrive 2 DESPITE Insomniac Games wanting & willing to make it, and their VR Games through Oculus didn't leave much of an impact, the only times Insomniac Games ever saw any real TRUE success is when they were glued to the hip of Sony/PlayStation,.

Re: Microsoft Says PS5, PS4 Would Still Be Bigger if Every Call of Duty Player Switched to Xbox

JustPlainLoco

@Martsmall - Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Xbox make similar promises with Bethesda's Games? First they said Bethesda Games would continue to appear on PlayStation, and then they said "Um actually, decisions will be made by a 'game-by-game' basis", to flat out "Going forward Bethesda Games will be Exclusive to Xbox & PC".
Hard to trust MS/Xbox's word when they've made similar promises only to go back on their word once the acquisition has gone through.

Re: Microsoft Says PS5, PS4 Would Still Be Bigger if Every Call of Duty Player Switched to Xbox

JustPlainLoco

@PlayStationGamer3919 - True, though I don't much care for First-Person Shooters, I've always had a soft spot for Resistance, especially how much potential it has as a series, and if it's one thing Insomniac Games excels at, it's creating a large array of fun weaponry, and that gives Insomniac Games a huge advantage if they were to create an FPS Multiplayer Game (But it absolutely has to a Single-Player Offline Story Mode).

Re: PS Plus Premium Adds Three-Hour Dying Light 2 Trial on PS5, PS4

JustPlainLoco

@TheKurgan - I agree, Days Gone really was a great game, I truly did not understand those that said "It's just another generic zombie game", I'm sorry but if there was another zombie game out there like Days Gone, point me in its direction so I can play it.

Plus a lot of the negativity was veered toward stupid SJW BS, like "Why do I have to play as a gruff white male protagonist" or "Where's the representation for Gays & Lesbians" even though there was a lesbian couple in the damn game, proof that these dumba$$ reviewers didn't play the game, and those 'issues' weren't even legitimate criticisms, just forced Pro-SJW Agenda's.

I can accept the bugs and glitches criticisms, because there were quite a few of them at launch and post-launch, but most of them were fixed in the first 2 weeks of the games launch.

But to say Days Gone was 'just another generic zombie game' as so many did, was absolute BS, I admit it does take a while for the story to pick up steam, but once it does, it's a really good story, I liked most of the characters, the world was beautiful and fun to explore, with diverse environments, and there was always this tenseness to the atmosphere as you were playing in the open world. Facing a Horde is never not intense and terrifying, especially when the music kicks up when nearing a Horde AND dealing with the Horde directly.
Days Gone was an 8.5 out of 10 for me, and much like the first Dying Light, I've replayed Day Gone every year since its release in 2019, such a fun game that I don't mind revisiting again and again on a yearly basis, also tried out the challenges for the first time this year, and those are surprisingly fun too.

Re: PS Plus Premium Adds Three-Hour Dying Light 2 Trial on PS5, PS4

JustPlainLoco

@OmegaStriver - Glad you're enjoying it, I wanted to go away from Dying Light 2 loving it, as I love most Zombie games, they're a guilty-pleasure genre for me, but Dying Light 2 pales in comparison to the first game in my opinion. For me, the combat against Zombies saw a significant downgrade compared to the first game, they did improve combat against humans, but took a step backwards with the Zombies, and I just don't understand why Techland messed with the combat against Zombies, when the perfected it in the first game AND Story DLC. Messing with the combat against the Zombies was a significant turn-off for me, the combat against Zombies in the first game was oh so damn satisfying, I replay Dying Light on a yearly basis solely because of how fun it was killing Zombies.

Re: PS Plus Premium Adds Three-Hour Dying Light 2 Trial on PS5, PS4

JustPlainLoco

I don't know what Techland did, but they butchered the combat against Zombies in Dying Light 2. Each swing of my weapon feels like it only hits one zombie at a time, in early game, that's understandable, but mid to late game? Nah. In the first Dying Light, most swings would connect with 2-3, maybe even 4 or 5 Zombies at a time, but in Dying Light 2, most swings will rarely hit more than one Zombie at a time. Why change the combat when it was already perfected in the first game? GRANTED they DID improve the combat when dealing with other Human Survivors, but the combat against Zombies was a step backwards. The idea is to improve upon what already worked, not downgrade it and make it worse.

Hopefully Dead Island 2 ends up being good, really enjoyed the first game despite some graphical issues and horrendously bad cutscenes, but I didn't enjoy Riptide, because I wasn't a fan of the swamp-like setting versus the Resort & City settings, didn't care for the Forest setting in the first Dead Island either, but that was near endgame, so I could deal with it.

Re: Arkane Confirms That Deathloop Is Set in the Dishonered Universe

JustPlainLoco

Loved the first Dishonored, it was truly unique for it's time, but I just could not get into Dishonored 2, and I honestly have no idea why, I bought it day one, and was super hyped to play it... but I just didn't enjoy it, the charm of the first game, I just could not find it in Dishonored 2. As for Deathloop, it was WAY overhyped, and I didn't understand what was so good about it, it was painfully average to me, I played it for 3 hours before turning it off, honestly Ghostwire Tokyo was the far superior game, yet no one really talks about it, and from the looks of it, no one really supported Ghostwire Tokyo either.
My best friend who plays a huge variety of games of varying genres, he RARELY if ever hates a game, but he absolutely DESPISED Deathloop, he played it for 5-6 hours, turned it off, and the next day, he took the game back and got a full refund... he even more rarely ever returns a game.

Re: Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden Get January 2023 Release Date on PS4

JustPlainLoco

Persona 4 Golden, my 5th favorite game of all time, I think I've played through it at least 9 times, I absolutely adore Persona 4 Golden, it has it all, an engaging story, amazing well-written characters, fun and rewarding gameplay, a GOD-TIER soundtrack, and I think I cried at least five times on my first playthrough, the Hospital Scene, Teddie in Velvet Room & Saying Farewell to Everyone the Day before you leave Inaba, these three sections always have me bawling my eyes out.
Can't wait to buy & play P4G again, and experience this masterpiece again and again.
I doubt a physical release of P4G & P3P for PS4/PS5 & Switch will happen, but I really hope it does, I want to physically own this masterpiece again.
