Is this series a low-key hit?

I played a bit of the first one and thought it was pretty uninspiring, but it feels like a day doesnt pass without more news about sequels and spinoffs.

Think this will just be a promo reel for announced games for Holiday 2023, and announcement dates for any existing titles that will launch in the window and havent had day and dates established yet.

Love to be surprised by something cool though but I just dont see it happening

@Mintie absolutely. I think if you are insulated its the same small group of regular players but the last 10 years it has absolutely exploded in popularity

I mean, the Trilogy was a slap in the face but they aren't even doing any work on it this time.

I thought the first game was horribly dull honestly.

@Vorflynn suspect this is the reason. I think sometimes you can skirt controversy fairly without a big pushback but is studio made the game, he wrote it and he's voicing a significant amount of the characters also. Just hard to promote it without tacitly mentioning his role in it. A shadow drop is the correct move

I havent played it so not sure how extreme the content is (I've heard it a depressing play so im intrigued), but rating wise, if a game is an 18/M rating, surely you can have cigarettes in it?

cant wait to play this later, really enjoyed the first one

I think Tequila Works are just a pretty meh developer to be honest.

I think Rime looks amazing and it skewed the scores but it's actually pretty dull and not that fun to play. Seems the same deal with this

@themightyant totally agree with your comments, the mystery is alluring and what you encounter is interesting but the actually story is not as good. I could see Alan Wake 2 ticking all the boxes, I think the gunplay looked good, and I'm more into the Alan Wake storyline

@themightyant Control maintains that great atmosphere and story and has enjoyable gameplay making a complete package.

I am hoping for the same with Alan Wake 2

I played this on launch and found it incredibly boring.

No idea if you can patch/upgrade your way out of that, the idea of adding more content to an already very long game (I played 10 hours and got nowhere near the end of the game) seems counterproductive to me.

the gameplay changes could be interesting

good game. really bizarre to run a beta so long, I just assumed it would have a big patch to V1.0 rather than going offline. wonder what theyll add

@MattBoothDev fighting game matches are like, 2-3 minutes though.

I get it for sessions that are much longer but for these I think just finish it out then put the controller down

Not being able to play a game sucks, but it's the business. However I really think it's gonna be a pain when the final game in MachineGames Wolfenstein trilogy is exclusive.

Microsoft were coy around the last buyout, and the second the probing from authorities ended, they were suddenly very confident. All these franchises they just purchased would be exclusive to their platforms now.

It's just up to them to decide whether or not this is considered a problem.

people complaining they should have made a 3D game, they did that in 2008 and 2010 and noone bought it. one was a soft reboot, and one was a continuation from the PS2 saga.

These games will struggle to find an audience it seems, even if they're good.

You have to:
1. Drag players away from their current live service, which they may have been playing for years at this point
2. Get them to even think yours is worth trying, as on first glance a lot of them look identical.

And you still enjoy them as much as you did the first? I dont mind them, I just feel like overexposure to this type of game has dulled the edges for me

@Tharsman enjoy clearing out 100 imperial outposts, opening 500 bounty hunter caches and finding buried jedi artifacts based on treasure maps

This has nothing to do with the buyout, as the game is F2P it will stay on PS, just like how Destiny 2 is still available with updates on Xbox.

will find out if its just nostalgia for the psp thats drawing me to pursuit force.

I think I have a good impression in my head because miles morales is a tighter experience but yeah I think you're right, it's been a while since I played the first one

Performance gives this a significant score hit, but I think the story is less engaging and everything they added (extra stances, seed farm, bar you can recruit people to) is bloat

The two big IP franchises (This and Harry Potter) were both disappointing. I'm hoping Spiderman fairs better

I am astonished at how bad it is.

Other than AC Unity, I cant think of a AAA, hyped high budget game thats launched this poorly.

I'd cite Cyberpunk but I think it actually performed better than this (although this has only hard crashed on me once)

a rare disagree with the consensus from me as I've been dying to try Chivalry 2 but dont like paying for multiplayer titles in case I fall off quickly

@Anti-Matter I'd love them to put together an in-house team and just pump out sequels alongside their Marvel stuff.

Fun to play, good characters, I miss them

I dropped this game so hard, but the combat is looking pretty good here.

Legacy is like a billion hours long.

I'm personally not a fan of half-baked minigames in titles to extend their play time by hours.

For me, a new game plus mode should make you beastly. Like resident evil new game plus with infinite rocket launcher
