@PegasusActual93 Symphony of the Night is the only game from that era that I still play. I have favorites from that period, including those you listed, but I don't want to go back and replay them because I know I'll be disappointed. I'd rather just have the nostalgia than deal with all the glaring flaws and be disappointed.

How f***ing dare you put FF8 in anything less than top three. That game is a masterpiece.

I can understand having nostalgia for the 8 or 16 bit era. Those pixelated sprites have a certain charm to them. But I'll never understand pining for Sega Saturn/PS1/N64 graphics. It was such an ugly and clunky era in gaming with virtually no titles worth replaying.

I'm kind of indifferent. I'm so backed up on games to play that I doubt I'll ever catch up.

@Rural-Bandit When I can finally upgrade to next gen, I do want to get a new TV. I'll look into the LG C1. I read somewhere that you're supposed to run OLED screens at 50% brightness and contrast for the first so many hundred hours of use to minimize the long term risk of screen burn. When I do have the time to game, I usually get stoned before and run the screen at maxed settings because I want it to be as vivid and surreal of an experience as possible.

So they wouldn't green light the second part of Dune unless sales were good enough, but they'll make an entire game based off a stupid meme from 5 years ago? And someone gets paid money to make these decisions? How do I get that job?

I don't blame them. They bigger things to deal with than pandering to the "master race".

@Rural-Bandit McDonald's sells more cheeseburgers than anyone else in the world. It doesn't mean their food isn't garbage. High sales are not synonymous with quality. I get it. Nintendo makes family friendly games for little children. That's their bread and butter and they don't have to put in a lot of effort to get there. You can't deny though that if Zelda was made in the style of God of War (2018) and Metroid like Halo, they would be about a thousand times better.

@Rural-Bandit I have an LG C7 OLED that's about 3 years old and the screen burn is egregious.

Final Fantasy VIII was not only my first Final Fantasy game, it was also my first RPG. I will always regard it as one of the greatest games ever made.

@NEStalgia You're out of your mind. Playstation owns more than half of the console gaming market. They have the best exclusives, with compelling, story-driven narratives that are like playing a movie. Nintendo just re-releases ten-year-old games and tricks their cult into buying their garbage on nostalgia alone.

Guilty Gear has always been the gold standard of what an anime game should look like. I wish Bamco would put this much effort into their games. That or give up the rights to Dragon Ball and OPM.

It's not free. Game pass is $15 a month. That aside, I couldn't care less what crap they put on there. When Xbox can make something as good as God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, and the Uncharted Series, then I'll take notice.

I could see the appeal of playing Doom like this. It doesn't work with Horizon though.

@Greenfisted I didn't know they had achieved both. I thought you had to pick between ray tracing or 60 fps.

I think he might be on to something. With the drastic shift to online shopping in the last year, more and more people are going to acquire basic necessities this way and companies are going to streamline the way in which they provide goods for customers. Brick and mortar stores are eventually going to be a thing of the past. What happens when things like hygiene items, clothing, non-perishable food, and first aid supplies are snatched up en masse by bots and resold at extreme markups? I think he's trying to curtail an issue now before it becomes too big to fix.

I'll take a single player game with great storytelling and characters over multiplayer games, any day.

With the cooling issue and the reported stick drift on the new controller, I might be waiting for the next iteration before I buy a PS5.

A captcha would've prevented a lot of this. I hope either no one buys any of the marked-up PS5's and the scalpers get stuck with them, or some kind-hearted hacker unmasks these scalpers and posts their addresses and phone numbers online.

@TrolleyProblems I get what you mean, and I understand that it becomes a part of their assets and whatnot. I'm not wrong though. They have to make back all that money that they spent before that investment turns a profit. Whether they sell part or all of it, or if it's through software sales.
