Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD

Scollurio

This is a non-issue. Just be conservative with your data management and most likely SOME kind of fix will be available until you've filled your internal storage up.
Also I feel like this time XBOX is a VERY good competitor for Sony. Also the Bethesda D-move makes sense for them.

Not getting any new consoles, but yeah. Still interesting to observe.

Re: PS5 Price, Release Date Confirmed: 12th November in US, 19th in EU, $499 Standard, $399 Digital

Scollurio

Hmm I feel like this year it's more than ever about exclusives. Both camps (green and blue) look solid machine wise. Price is okay too. Now it's the question if you'd prefer god of war, bloodborne and gran turismo over gears of war, halo and forza (roughly speaking). I'm not so sure if it's clever or stupid of Microsoft to deliver their first party games on PC as well.

Still, to get into high-res gaming the prices are fair.

That said I'd always go fps over resolution. Wonder what Ninty will do with rumored Switch Pro.

Re: PlayStation Returns to Facebook, Instagram After Two Month Hiatus

Scollurio

Of course they're back, they need to soften Nvidias blow with their 3000 graphics card series. Anyone seen the reveal? I'm not much of a gamer anymore but price and performance are just crazy good. I bet secretely Sony and MS are wishing they went with NVIDIA instead of AMD.

That said I'm a huge AMD fan.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Is Sony's Fourth Best Launch in US History

Scollurio

@ShogunRok I don't think anyone's derailing anything, but if you're posting an article about the 4 best selling games and TLoU2 is one of them, sure it gets mentioned. And yes it DID play a role in sales of Ghosts. Not saying Ghosts isn't a brilliant game but many people were left hungry for a satisfying experience after TLoU2 and Ghosts offered all that.

I think Ghosts success is well earned, especially considering it's a new IP and Sucker Punch is a great studio.

Re: June 2020 NPD: The Last of Us 2 Tops the Chart Across the US

Scollurio

@TheArt What you say is all true but you have to understand that most people loved TLOU I for the story and how the characters were written. It's a bit like complaining about people that moan about the story when they bought a book. That's what they came for.

But yes, nowadays it seems like everyone is a vile creature if they don't agree with one's own opinion. This is not limited to gaming and certainly not only to TLOU.

Re: June 2020 NPD: The Last of Us 2 Tops the Chart Across the US

Scollurio

@East76landS I guess you don't see the irony in calling people disagreeing with you "a bunch of entitled gamers" do you? I didn't like the game and where the story went, how does this make me entitled? Are you entitled as well when you go to your favorite restaurant, order a burger just the way you always had them and they changed the recipy and you don't want to go eat there anymore?

Either people are throwing around big words with no clue what they actually mean or people are just happy hating on each other for stupid reasons.

I'm perfectly fine with people enjoying the game it's just a disappointment to me and I voiced my opinion. Last time I checked this wasn't a crime yet.

Re: June 2020 NPD: The Last of Us 2 Tops the Chart Across the US

Scollurio

@WallyWest I agree fully with you but I also feel like the timing to release those dastardly posts to the public was chosen well just to ride the "toxic fans hate us"-train even further when in reality the whole society is filled with "weirdos" and every person that's somewhat in the public eye faces them in one way or another. I can only imagine all the hate mail ANY random big Youtuber regardless of his content must get.

Re: June 2020 NPD: The Last of Us 2 Tops the Chart Across the US

Scollurio

@WallyWest I still don't get why anyone would root for or against a game like their life would depend on it. Even the Youtubers I regularily watch have moved on. I believe what you say it's just that I personally haven't experienced it. Also I never experienced alphabet-phobia or something like it.

But yeah, apparently there are plenty of people who can't let go, no matter the topic.

Re: Guide: Best PS4 Exclusive Games

Scollurio

So far I have zero interest in getting a PS5, but an expansion of the Bloodborne universe could change all that. This lovecraftian masterpiece had me tangled up in it's weirdness for months and I loved every moment of it.

Re: June 2020 NPD: The Last of Us 2 Tops the Chart Across the US

@wiiware I'm sure with their assets and experience in mocap-storytelling a spectacular sci-fi epic would be not only a sight to behold but also a fresh start. Even though I don't like Druckman as a person (without knowing him IN person of course) I'm sure he's perfectly capable of crafting an engrossing NEW IP, as he has proven time and time again. And I love scifi.

Re: June 2020 NPD: The Last of Us 2 Tops the Chart Across the US

Scollurio

@LiamCroft Apparently most of the "so called haters" have moved on already and don't seem to care half as much as you do!

I "hated" the story but I never wished it to fail fyi, but I doubt a potential TLOU III would sell nearly as well. Many people have been burned and even though plenty of people liked the game for what it was, I just don't think that you can hang a marketing campaign similar to the one TLOU II received with Joel and Ellie onto the characters of the second game.

But again, that's just me.

Re: Kaitlyn Dever Would 'Love' to Play Ellie in The Last of Us TV Adaptation

Scollurio

@randomrun I'd really want to know, since she obviously loved the first one for the first reasons I did and none of that is in the second. I wish they find a nice cast for the TV show, preferably lesser known actors to give them a chance to break into the business. I also hope it will do well for everyone involved, but I don't think it's for me.

Re: Ubisoft Execs Resign Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

Scollurio

I get the feeling that every huge enough corporation no matter what field they exist in becomes eventually rotten to the core. Crunch work, sweat shops, sexual harassment, gaslighting, etc. mix in the usual balooney-headed higher-ups taking huge profits home while letting go many employees at the first sign of a crisis and you basically have a nice sample of todays world.

Yuck.

Re: God of War Director Prefers PS5 Price Increases Over Microtransaction Hellscape

Scollurio

Living in the hyper-technicized world we do I wonder if something like this would fly:

For digital games, make ALL games 30 bucks. Halfway through the game a screen pops up, asks you to rate the game and if you like it, if you'd pay 30 bucks for the second half of the game. Also you're provided with a code that you can use to legit-review the game on metacritic. If you didn't play the second half of the game as long or much as the first half, you're eglible for a refund of 30 bucks. If you're done with the game another window pups up asking you to tip the dev if you liked the experience better than expected.

That way developers are encouraged to create quality games, players don't run the risk of wasting full 60 bucks if they didn't like a game. User reviews would be legit and people could get a refund, but only if they really stopped playing the game after paying 30 bucks for the scond half. If they were amazed with the game, why not tip the dev team?

I'd love that kind of thing.
It would be much more transparent and fair than the crap we got moving forward.

Re: God of War Director Prefers PS5 Price Increases Over Microtransaction Hellscape

Scollurio

The scope of modern AAA games has generally increased while the quality oftentimes has decreased. Too often broken messes of beta-software get released only to be fixed months after initial release, if it all. Oh and don't get started on DLC that could easily have been part of the initial release and only being held back to sell it to us further down the road.

In my book, most Indie games have a far better value than many (not all) triple A titles.

Increase quality, not price.
