Fell in love with the dynamic between Ellie and Joel in the first one, played through it multiple times on PS3 and PS4 but I have to admit, all this "dire, stressful world"-thing going on (I get it, it's the world they live in) might have me "stressed out of my comfort zone". Meanwhile I'm playing my Switch with more joyful games and will watch the inevitable cutscene-compilation on Youtube some day. That said: I wish them all the success in the world.
Ugh. There are only 2 genders and a very very small percentage of people stuck inbetween them. But I wonder, how they will reflect that with character creation. Wouldn't it be enough to have 2 genders to create and then give them "androgynous" styles to wear?
@Heavyarms55 Don't forget architecture. Where I love they're pulling up countless flat-blocks and they all look the same, with differing colors in balconies... but that's about it. Awful. In 20 years, when all the shiny paint has turned into "street-dust-gray" it will look like in Bulgaria 1980s. Classy.
@rjejr Haha yeah. Something like that I imagine to be the case. Maybe throw in some alien reptile-overlords into the mix.... but you know what, I think "everything's just a conspiracy" might be a conspiracy! Inceptiracy!
@iamtylerdurden1 True, but that doesn't make them automatically good and opposing those are a million cookie-cutter titles by the likes of ubisoft, ea and activision. There are certainly "creative" and "fresh" triple AAA games, but really they're not as common as they used to be.
@kyleforrester87 No no no no, not at all. I just see a sharp decline in creativity in triple-A-huge-blockbusters. Especially all "non-Nintendo" companies. The indiescene is RIPE with good ideas and that kinda was the point of my argument, no matter how good the graphics, the IDEA makes a good game!
@kyleforrester87 What about them? I saw them but they didn't peak my interest. At the moment I'm enthralled by BATMAN (1989) and Castlevania Legends on the Gameboy!
It really IS funny, everyone seems to be waiting for good games coming out when there are thousands of good games already available! So I started to decide working on my backlog, from 1987!
Sold my PS4 a while ago to focus on RL, but this article was so well worded, it speaks from my soul. The reason (mainly) I even COULD get rid of my PS4 was exactly that: The predictability and "sameness" of all the triple A titles!
I recently started playing GAMEBOY games again. So... this is of little concern to me. I'd rather know, if the gaming industry will come out of its creative slump, what the future of free-to-play titles will be, what great indies there are coming and so on. The LEAST I'm excited for better graphics to be honest.
@deepspace5d You should try out the latest Forza Horizon then if you have the chance. For purists it's always gonna be Gran Turismo and if you love a plethora of choices and settings you should Project Cars II a go! Have fun!
No interest at all. I'm pretty sure it's all "dark and gritty", laden with microtransactions, and the main characters are some over-the-top-minorities. N'ah.
It was a brilliant game the first time round, and a really nice remaster to boot, but can we please stop re-releasing all the "not-quite-old-enough-to-be-retro" games over and over again? Thanks.
Everything's "dark and gritty" these days. Picard is gonna be this way, Star Trek Reboot was this way in general and don't get me started on the crap that is "Discovery". sigh
It's a dangerous political agenda seeping into our games.
Without knowing a thing about this new Need for Speed game I'm certain, judging by that screenshot, that the hero of the game is a (probably lesbian) female, saving the day.
Well deserved imho. Many of the "new" games just fail to impress, are devoid of content and stuffed with PC-messaging, lootboxes and micro transactions. I do know, that GTA basically has "pay to win" with the shark cards, but still it offers SO MUCH to do and only keeps on growing. It is truly the best game I've played in the past couple of years.
I'd argue that we've reached a technological threshold where the possibilities are somewhat limitless. All that counts is profitability and this will severely limit creative freedom. Look at the many great indie games out there, they won't need super fast SSDs or ultra high res 24K HDR PRO yaddayadda crap.
Well I perfectly see where he is coming from. I've a hard time since a year or so to get excited for any of the big upcoming games, regardless of platform. If those games would look even nicer or load faster, it wouldn't change a thing that I'm not excited.
I do think though that everything cloud (especially gaming) is the cancer.
Honestly, does it matter at this point at all? Both will be plenty powerful. Both are basically PC (now more than ever) Platforms. So what. I care for good games and either way I'm growing too old or the games are more boring every release...
Honestly I have no trust anymore in EA, Activision and the-likes. I gladly support smaller studios and watch Bethesda and company burn from the edge of the playing field. Slow clap and all.
It will be "modern cashcow 4" ripe with microtransactions and otherwise the unfinished mess that we've come to expect from triple A studios. That said: ZERO interest. Good bye Activision, see you in shareholder purgatory.
@gmxs Just watched his video concerning this on the pot an hour ago. And I don't even know him. Found it rather odd. In my opinion EA/Bioware should really roll out the red carpet to each and every customer they can get.
"If you don't like our game, don't buy it." - was the best advice (from DICE concerning Battlefield V) to give in general.
Been watching a friend play it, I took notes of bugs and within 3 hours of gameplay we encountered 5 minor bugs (characters glitching out, warping, disappearing) and 2 gamebreaking bugs like someone before mentioned, when talking to certain NPCs the game just crashes. But it doesn't happen all the time and not with always the same NPCs.
I don't buy the really big evil corp games anymore for quite a while now. Glad I didn't waver on this one.
Found it online, watched it. So what? We're streaming ridiculously gory (and stupid) fatalities of MK11 that's degrading to all forms of life in 4K gory-glory and people get offended by something that looked and felt like my 12-year old self giggling and fingerpointing with my friends at Cammy's buttock-prone outfit in Street Fighter.
Granted. This does nothing for all the "women's rights" movements here in the west. But it's fun. Nothing more, in my book at least. It seems like almost all cultures must censor themselves in a global discourse to puritanian, old fashioned christian standards just to not offend anyone.
I personally also find plenty of offense in the global political discourse and the treatment of women and "wrong thinkers" in certain regions of the world and I can't do anything about it. So what. People's opinions, traditions and values differ. You can either see this as a threat or for what it is, in context, and in this case, it was a "more childish than anything" somewhat stiff and stupid PR thing from Japan.
The times of corporate greed comes to an end. In an ironic plot twist capitalism and it's mechanics, used for what felt like eons to extract the last bit of cash from the consumers now is an adequate weapon to strike back. Vote with your wallet, which has much more weight than whatever you could do at a ballot box, and let them feel that we are the customers, we are in charge, we don't want to get insulted anymore with ridiculous pricing, unfinished games, stupid PR BLAH BLAH and politics. You want our patronage? EARN IT. Also: #supportindies. This will all come crumbling down and I'll be there, slowly clapping.
Characters look like puppets and the violence becomes more comicy in every Iteration. Awful and horribly stupid songchoice. Again. I liked the mystery surrounded style of MK 2011 more. Not impressed.
@get2sammyb yeah but it's all homegrown trouble by force-injecting (see what I did there?) PC culture, diversity and GREEDY money making schemes in the franchise. Running one of the two biggest sci fi franchises with all it's nostalgia bonuses into the wall... is a feat in itself.

Unfortunately the BF Franchise has become soulless and politically laden. I stay clear.

Can't wait to watch the fatality montages of all of them and be done with it!

@CameronEB As much as I despise the big corps, you're right on this one, being mainly a PC player myself I see it exactly the same way.

So done with Triple A.

I doubt there's an actual benefit to 8K over 4K except maybe high end photo applications in a professional setting.

Re: Kotal Kahn Gets His Ass Kicked in Mortal Kombat 11 Reveal Trailer
@johncalmc made me lol. I just meant I don't like an eye popping out everywhere. It's the same how the fatalities in MK3 were stupid compared to MK2.

That Noob Saibot is the first fighter I'm really interested in, this time round. Still skipping it.
