Sounds like good fun to me, I don't want 90 hours of open world filler. I really hoped Watchdogs would review well, than never happened but this is the first Ubi game that I want to play in a long long time.
I don't have any but I feel for those that do have it. Had a graphics card with coil whine a while back and my kids could not sit in the same room. Can have that finger nail effect.
This is the one game I'm going to play on PC. Would have happily played on the PS5 or XSX if full next gen release was here. Small advantage of PC play is I can move from desktop to laptop and back. I plan to play 3 times, one in each role if its good enough so being a bit portable will help.
Don't care about what's out about the game. The whole of the Witcher 3 was being streamed before the game released and it did not spoil the game in the least for me.
Cool whine has nothing to do with fans. It's from the inductors. I had a graphics card h that had it. I could hardly here it but my kids could not sit in the room. That chalkboard kind of sound. It seems to be far worse for young ears than old.
My PS5 gas no issues happily but even if it doesn't bother you, it's can still be a real problem for others
I received my demon souls disk yesterday but no time yet for PS5 delivery, Will be here some point today, but I won't get to look at it till weekend so I'm chilled about it.
@PaperAlien Modern Japanese urban homes are very small and space is very much at a premium. The switch is a very good match as a home console both due to sound and size. The OG Xbox one never stood a chance based on size and the PS4 really suffered due to how loud it was. The PS5 is large and in your face, not sure it fits Japanese aesthetics. Both the SX and SS would seem better matched, more so the Xbox Series S but I doubt either will have any traction given past performance.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yep, I had to turn it off when I was watching IT. There was one bit where it whispered in your ear, Its ok with head phones but when in an open room and something is whispering in one ear then the other it totally creeped me out. ππ
I have to say while I did not mind the combat in Yakuza games its never been the reason to play them. So taking a chance on changing the combat while maintaining the story telling and, I hope, the 1000 and 1 other wacky things to find and do sounds great to me.
Its been a long time since the famed Bioware star faded. DA: Inquisition was not great in my book, ME Andromeda, while having some ok gameplay had high school level writing. No idea how bad Anthem really was, but it sure wasn't worth my bandwidth to find out. I have no expectations from the studio at all.
I learnt a lot from this comments section. I did not realise Sony had made such big inroads into mobile gaming with anime linked titles. I just finished watching Demon Slayer and thought it was ripe for a move into gaming.
@graysoncharles I can't speak for Sony's 3D audio yet but if it is like Dolby Atmos it is nothing like like 7.1 surround. I have a prosumer level Atmos setup. It can produce the sound of a fly buzzing around your head or a bullet flying past an inch from your head. The difference is the sound does not just come from different directions but can be placed in a very precise 3D space. Giving each sound sample a x,y,z location for that moment in time.
For me this is the biggest upgrade. It's what made me move the the one X for multiplats. And as with @EquiinoxGII if the PS5 matches the one x I'm happy but in reality I expect it to be even quieter.
@GKO900 My day one PS4 Pro was a jet engine from the day I got it. The first 6 months or so run had a fan curve stepping from 0 to 100% in an instant. It was improved in later models. I ended up adding a little bleed resistor across the fan control wires to try and take the edge of it but if you bleed off to much it's a problem when high fan is required.
Good to hear its a decent length, 10 hours a good run time. I see no competition between 30 fps with RT or 60 without. I'll be 60 fps every day. For me framerate > visuals > resolution. Although I'm planning on upscaling my TV to 75" so I guess at that point resolution may become more important.
Good to hear the load times live up to expectations. Once under 10 seconds it becomes meaningless for me, It takes 10 to have a sip of tea after all.
While I really liked Spiderman, I'm not in rush for more but will pick this up in the summer when there is always a shortage of releases.
Gosh, I remember first playing this near PS4 launch. Tried it for a few hours thought I'd never hear of it again. Got into it around 3 years ago and put in 100's of hours. It can be really fun. Its the only Games as a service I've ever enjoyed and one of the very few online games I've put time into. Also have to give them a shout out about how they price. Frames can be a little expensive but in a fully free game they are really flashed out. A few times, after long weekend seasons I'd go and buy something just to say thanks to the devs.
@LiamCroft The LG CX 77 is closer to Β£3500 than Β£2K. Next updated version is going to be my main gaming TV, I'm just going to give them an extra year to get all the bugs out of VVR and 120fps but don't think I'll find one anywhere near Β£1999
I have very powerful PC's at home and even my laptop has a RTX 2080 Super in it, I need them for work. The reason I play on PS4/5 is to play on the big screen from the sofa. I few people playing on monitors would mostly be streamers I guess but that's a tiny fraction of the user base
Most big games have supported Atmos for some.time so.i expect 3D audio to have at least the same level of support. And if the controller API's are simple it's likely they will get good support. Just how many controller features are used beyond triggers we'll still have to see
I'm fully in on Demon souls. Everything else I need to see reviews off. Man eater looks like its q bit a laugh so may pick that up so I have something to play with the family that we can laugh over. Already have the generations update but on PC, I play a lot, but PC VR only.
@OneManDroid Yes, I'm afraid so. I've spent a small fortune on a 13 speaker system in our games room. It's also out movie room and its supported on old and new XBOX so not a total loss but as a PS fist player I was really gutted for a long time. They have said it may be supported in the future, or at least they have said "We are working on supporting 3D sound through the TV" The link above from @Dragonsmana has some details. Like I said I slowly gotten over the hurt but still not totally a happy bunny.
I wasn't that taken with the last one so while this might be a great show case for the PS5 its not on my list, at least at the moment. Demon Souls is the only launch title in my shopping basket right now. I need to see MM Spider-Man is a full experience before I jump onboard. Still if Demon souls is as good as it looks it will on its own make this a great launch.
I'm still a bit sad my Atmos will not work with PS5 although I'm mostly over it. I don't play online so I don't need a "gamer" headphone with a mic. The upside of this is can I use my set of AKG 812's. So I expect the PS5 to sound really good.
@LordSteev His earlier books are great but the later the release the more the books read like every line has been written and rewritten over and over and the books are worst for it. I think the focus on the first person dialog makes the feel of every word being rewritten worse. Speech is spontaneous and the books no longer read so. Just my opinion though and I know many will disagree.
A real question I have is how much of the IP do the platforms own. It is not common in TV to pass IP rights to platforms even when that platform may be offering up front finance to have the programming made.
I don't get the concern, They only finished Sekiro just on a year ago. To be honist I didn't expect to hear anything about Elden Ring for some time. I stopped reading GOT books before the TV series released when It looked like GRRM would be dead long before anything was finished but I'd hope they'd just keep moving forward without him, much like the TV series did.
Wow, by time this comes out it will be like having a remake of game from the past that never actually was. I'm sure I was still a young man when I first heard of this game.
Ow, that hurts. Ubisoft seem to have the worst writing team in gaming. We've seen good narrative this gen from both big and small studios, how can they keep getting it so wrong? I wanted to want this game, its my home town but I'll pick it up for a Β£5 just to take a look around the environment.
This is one of my games of the generation. A reminder that 3 guys can make a game that takes on the AAA space and comes out on top. Tight game play, great world building, a art style to die for and a sound track to raise you back up again.
Shadow of lootbox was terrible at launch. I know they rebalanced it when they took out the loot boxes so it may be worth playing now. Hollow knight is a must play in my book. And bugsnax must be the game I found the least appealing on reveal in resent memory.

So reading EA site one thing stood out, you are able to move between the PS4 and PS5 and back again with online content staying intact.
