But does this show people want CO-OP games or want Josef's games. I think its the latter at this point. But he's on a 3-0 winning streak. Need to play this one still.
@manonfire It still runs terrible without the FAR patch, played it last month and it is what it has always been, a really low effort port. It really does deserve a real fix.
I played this a little time after I payed Automata, I still have my PS3 hooked up. It had a few rough ends and PS3 performance but still a great play. I'm really looking forward to replaying but with the "right" cast this time. In some ways it beat Automata, others it fell a little short but 100% must for Nier fans.
It sounds and looks great, but I'm finally going digital for the majority of my games this gen and I'm not paying £70 so I'll wait till it hits the sales.
I was very happy to see the back of fifa when my kids got into real gaming and hoped never to see another sports game in my house again, But I may give this a try on game pass just because its there.
When EA first had the star wars exclusive licence I though at least we will get more KOTOR. That all worked out sooo well.
But they need a full remake, just a remaster will not do them justice and yes, as others have pointed out combat was not a high point even when they where fresh.
While I still have my PS3, which plays everything till that point my PS4's are already packed up and ready to go. Just like I don't need a PS2 with my Fat PS3 playing those games I don't need a PS4 with PS5 covering those games.
And a simple firmware update will fix this issue. Would be nice if that update came before people packed away their PS4's but I will still bring mine out and do the final update some time in the future.
PS5 is so ugly I have mine wired up from a little comms / utilities cupboard. Upside of not wanting to see it has been hot hearing it. Although it makes playing from or swopping disks a bit of a pain its worth it until I have a better way of hiding it away.
@Carck @Nem MS already made profit on the zenimax purchase. The market cap for MS increased by $13 billion on the news on the Zenimax purchase. This was not just a $5B increase in value for stock holders, as even with the cash reserves reducing by $7B value increased by $13B so MS made its stock holders the full $13B in share price growth. That $13B alone could well bankroll a $1B Game Pass loss for the next 10 years and MS will still have made a profit.
I think this will be day one Game Pass for PC and Xcloud so I'll defiantly be giving it a go. Having worked with large tech companies for many years I can very well see MS taking the foot of the gas with this. While they may not actively be holding it back they will not be pushing resources at it. It would be better for MS if this came out at a busy window. Not only does it dilute the effectiveness of Sony's investment in buying the exclusive rights, it gives MS something for game pass PC to compete with full purchase releases and it could reduce the number of players in the first 12 months giving more weight to the Game Pass console release.
It must be remembered that all three console platforms, with Sony being the leader, spend a lot of cash to keep games of other platforms in an attempt to damage their market share. To think MS will not be thinking how to counter this move with Deathloop is just naïve. MS did not buy Zenimax concerned about current income and cashflow. Tech companies buy loss making companies for billions looking to the long term all the time. Zenimax is already profitable and MS has a long game strategy.
@GamingFan4Lyf As a gamer not a rabid fan I'm 100% in agreement. Consoles are not football teams , they are a means to play games and with competition the players win. I get why some people who can only afford a single option want the best service they can get on that option but so many players seem to care less about games and more about putting down other gaming platforms.
Don't know why this has popped back onto the front page given its somewhat close to the 6 months mark its worth giving it a score so far, and right now I'm only giving it 2/5. Its big, its ugly, has few games and sucks at playing ps4 games (compared to the competition) Now it's early days and I'm a long time PS player so I'm sure it's going to improve, I still think my full fat day 1 PS3 was a great buy, it just needed time, and I'm sure PS5 will be the same. But for those that are struggling to find one, I would not rush and get scalped.
Be wise to wait and see on this one. It looks a lot better than the combat when it was first shown but they have had years to fine tune. Hoping this is a good un.
It's not a great look but I'm thinking a firmware update will remove the requirement at some point. I do hope they do it before most people pack away their PS4's though.
But seeing PS5 is the main way to preserve your ps4 games its a lesser issue. At this point last gen I was already following PS3 emulator development. I could not give a squat about PS4 emulation as I sould never need it.
I have a 244hz monitor on my PC and my laptop even has a 300 hz screen (2080s) but the truth is as long as its 60+ I'm good. My son who plays lots of shooters tends to see 120 fps as a base requirement but I struggle to see the difference. Variable frame rate is the most important thing for smooth gaming though, regardless of frame rate.
I don't see why they need be expensive, Quest has the same finger tracking and can play half-life, if plugged into steam. So that is what Sony needs to look to as its price marker. The quest can also be used stand alone so PSRV needs a price cap of £250 to compete.
@NathanUC Oculus has proven inside tracking. It works perfect, I like my Index, a lot, but I can't in all honesty say its controller tracking is any better in use than the quest 1st gen I also have. You can force errors but in use its as good as perfect.
@NEStalgia The IR emitters will be hidden under the plastic of the bands, They shine at a frequency that passes through the plastic. Again the Oculus handsets work the same.
The only thing missing is a hand strap, so you can completely open you hands with the controllers staying in place. This works really well and really should have been included for best in class.
Those look really great. I'm a big VR user but I used PSVR for about 30 minutes. But these look like the best controllers on the market. PS5 has the horse power to run decent but not perfect VR, My 3090 still struggles to push NMS on my Index, but good enough for 95% of applications. I hope the headset is a good match. getting rid of the outside tracking is a good move. Oculus has shown how well that can work with very limited overhead. I'm looking forward to seeing what Sony has on offer. My PS5 was looking like it would get little use outside exclusives but VR could well extend that.
I can't help thinking PS paying to keep this and Ghostwire off Xbox is a big part of why MS just outright bought Zenimax. Still waiting to see if this is on PC GamePass day one
@rjejr Sonic Transformed, great memories playing that on a projector when my kids were still kids. I think I'm going get the old set-up out when everyone is around on Sunday (Mother's day in the UK) Thanks for the reminder, you probably just made our family weekend
@Bagwag82 2k's market cap is about $13 Billion. To buy out it will take about $16/18 Billion. Sony Market cap is about $15 Billion. That's not going to happen.
I wonder how much Sony has spent paying for exclusives to keep games of Xbox and how that has effected its investment. It was a strategy that worked well until now but Microsoft has come out and committed to opening up its much bigger wallet. If the timed exclusives redirected a lot of investment it may take Sony a while to react.
TES and Fallout are big ones, I've spent 1000's of hours in those worlds, but also Dishonoured, Doom and Wolfenstein. But the fact is, with everything coming to GamePass I won't miss anything and I like the game pass model. End of last gen, my PS4 pro gathered dust. Only used for the great PS exclusives with its rocket engine fans. I never saw this gen going that way but since Demod souls I've only bought Cyberpunk (pc) and played game pass and EA play games. Never mind what else happens we know PS will roll out its own 9/10 exclusives along the way. But I do wonder will I be willing to pay £60 a pop by then?
While leaks can on occasion build excitement they mostly just spoil the moment. A few E3s ago almost everything was leaked in the weeks before and for the first time in many years I got nothing from watching the showcases, E3 never really recovered it's magic of me.
I remember the days the excitement and tension would build for weeks before the show. Maybe I'm just getting old or looking back with my rose tinted glasses but it feels like that is a thing of the past. Today everything is drip feed in little leak here, little leak there and by the time we see anything solid all the surprise is gone.
Only had mine for 3 days and have only tested for 15 minutes, very Meeh to be honest. Sound is very poor to my ear and they feel cheap. They will not replace my open backed AKG's thats for sure but they are a fraction of the price and right now are needed for 3d audio so at the price I'm OK with them. I still wish Sony would support Atmos along side their proprietary system but till then these will do the job.
I think we have to remember that Playstation paid money, a lot of it, just to keep Deathloop and Ghostwire off Xbox. I can't see how that does not effect Microsoft's thinking.
I keep hearing from PS only players that PS builds, not buys, it's exclusives. But that is far from the full story.
Don't effect me either way, I have PS5, Xbox and PC but I don't see any new Zenimax games on PS from here out
I'm just going to say it, after getting use to offset sticks the last couple of years I've gone cold on the PS controller.
