I think spiderman was a great game but I did not finish it. I think it will have been a brilliant game to younger / newer gamers but maybe a little to by the book for some who have played a lot of games with the a similar feel. But it was well made, swinging was great for the first few hours and it was well written. Not everyone has been gaming for 2 decades and newer gamers are well served by this next gen Arkham. Its a winning formula for Sony and rightly so.
If it was a 30 hour games I would buy it but it does not grab me enough to invest 100 (+) hours in. I'm at a point where I like my games to finish within 20 hours and stretch to 30 only if I'm really having a blast. To many games, to little time!
What we have seen of the story so far has been a bit of a turn-off for me, YA pulp fiction, but the gameplay looks good so I'll keep my eye on it. May be a better match for my 14 yr old than me.
I don't see a need to offer an upgrade here, If you have the game then play it, if you don't then maybe you want to buy it. This is really just a re-release for new players.
Going in I had hoped to see 6 first party releases that we would see over the next 2 years. With Wolverine and Spiderman both coming from the same studio and given they have just released R&C I don't think we will see them for 2 to 3.
Third party games are great but not what I hope for from a PS showcase. Time will tell but given PS talked of 20 titles in development I had hoped to see more PS content not just gaming content. Still, clearly going to be loads to play over the next two years and 1st party will come later in the generation.
I had hoped they would update to the control engine. Its was good game but it has not aged the best. Still worth a play though, just temper expectations
Well, good move Sony I guess. I mean the outcome is the right one for Horizon and the plan going forward is clearly stated.
I really hope after the show case we get to spend a bit of time and excitement talking about the great things Sony has in store for us all instead of their plans to nickel and dime us and burn their goodwill into the ground.
Its a good to very good game but I don't think the gameplay aged to well. I played it on PC about 18 months ago when it returned after being pulled due to licences expiring on some of the music. I think at this point it could do with a bit more than a remaster, perhaps if they use the control Northlight engine and update the game play. Alan wake was also built on a inhouse engine and that probable spawned into Northlight so it is possible if not totally likely.
I want to see some new things, Not more Horizon and not more bloody Deathloop. While it would be good to see some GOW I'd like to see some new IP or Old IP made a new. I'd also like to see some of the AA or aaa games coming out sony studios Not just the AAA and AAAA. I've been having a blast with Hades and Psychonauts the last few weeks and its reminded me that games are more than interactive cinema. PS has not been getting a lot right of late but we all know they can made some fantastic games. So please PS remind us all why we love what you do..
@Deljo Its strange, Some people do latch onto companies in a almost quasi religious manor. And while most on here will be Gaming fans with a tilt towards PS there will be those who tie their identity so tightly to the brand they see criticism as a personal slight. But I would presume they are still very young and with time, like most of us do, they will broaden their views and see a larger world in which to enjoy life.
I've been gaming since the early 80's and PS4 gen was a master class. They made it look easy but it was far from it. We saw both MS and Nintendo crash and burn, for different reasons, but burn they did. We must remember PS went in to the generation on the back of months long PS network outage.
I wonder if the console industry would have collapsed further, like many predicated it would without Sony/PS steadying the ship and maintaining a platform on which the others could rebuild? But to all things comes change and to my eyes since Shawn Layden lost the rains PS has taken many poor roads. But the industry today is in great shape and if PS are unable to step up others are lining up to do so.
@SilkySmile89 Good info, although they can send power over the same USB-C cable and if I'm reading the specs right there is a pair of wires that could also support usb-2 speeds, plenty fast enough for position and input. It looks viable at least that have given themselves headroom for a single cable solution although a two cable solution will be nature give them more bandwidth to play with a grow into.
While PSVR is not great Sony did wonders with what they had so I think PSRV-2 should be a highlight of PS5.
@theheadofabroom you can not set more than 2 PS as your primary. We have an extra account we all share but it makes life complicated. Having a disk keeps it simple, whoever has the disk has the right to play that game without kicking someone else off. I have close to 40 years worth of games lining the walls of our games room. Over 4300 games! so I'm a little partial to physical media still
Can you imagine a PC game where it is £50 for medium settings, £60 for High and £70 if you want to enable the Ultra pre-set. This must be why Sony games released on PC with so little in the options menu, they are waiting till they are able to charge extra. I mean come on, that dev has to be paid to flip those 0s to 1s in that conf file!
So I only have 1 PS5, but my sons are still on PS4. So if I want to buy for all of us to play I need to buy 2 copies! Not happening. I may get the ps4 disk as we can all play that but more likely I will just hold off. I'm not a fan of how Sony is dealing with cross gen. Sure, consoles got away with this stuff in the past but we are no longer in 2013 and tech has changed. Sony is looking less and less like its going to retain its stop as my primary platform this gen
I did not jell with it, I found the slow movement and fixed camera things best left in the past. Only played for an hour so can't say much about the story really. I think this is one that will split the audience and that seems clear from the comments above.
Yep, I already fell out with everyone I have ever known and everyone I will ever know over overcooked, and Hitman 2 have played to death, all sorts of deaths actually. But these are both great games. I don't have plus any more but I'm not sure what folks what from PS at the moment. These are good games.
I played the first many many years ago, Even after playing the second I can still not really remember much of the first, and it did not effect my enjoyment.
This is a great game and at £35 seems to be a bit of a bargain in a world of £70 games. I don't think the art style requires high resolution, but I would say play at 60fps if you can. Lots of fun!
I'm holding off as this may still be a surprise drop on Gamepass for PC. If not I will buy it if the reviews are good. Don't like all the DS vibrations though. I get that some folks find them immersive, I just find them really, really annoying and distracting. I find myself missing old style rumble. The new style buzzing I had to turn off.
It's not up to game Devs to push next gen. They are focused on where they make the best return on investment. It's up to the platform owners and as long as Sony is making cross gen games 3rd parties are going to follow suit.
17 Hours ? hang on a minute, how much dying did you do? Others are putting the main quest at 3 hours, side missions, another 2 hours. So I have to wonder if you need to "git gud" 😎
personally I have little interest in clearing very marker on the map and £30 for 5 or 6 hours of main and side quests is to much to temp me back.
I bought NMS about 5 months after launch for about £8. Even in its base state I went to the centre and back. I did not mind it for £8. But since then I have built a top end VR rig just NMS. In the day I'm restricted to a wheelchair but on some evenings I explore worlds and travel the stars. I have put in over 2000 hours on the PC. It is my escape from the limitations I live with. So... You might of guessed by now I quite like the game 😁
It amazes me to hear people saying portable gaming is "niche" at least in my area of London every child I know has a switch and Nintendo is closing in on 100 Million sales, that's far from "niche". Almost every one of those homes will have at least one main console. PS or Xbox but kids and young teens have flocked to switch. My 11 year old has close to 4,000 hours on his day one switch and would have double if allowed. I loved my PSP back in the day. The fact that PS has failed in the portable market has to do with the fact they placed there energy into the console market, which has paired of well for them, not the fact that the portable market does not exist or is to small to be worth while.
Normally when you find a lot of power being stolen you find either a weed cultivation or crypto mining. I suspect the police were as surprised as the rest of us.
I have to say I hate the controller buzzing, I know it's a strong word but I really do. I hated it on the switch to. It may be partly because I have MS and the buzzing is a trigger but I'm not a fan. The triggers on the other hand "can" be great, when just giving the slightest feedback mind you. I'm sure many games are going to over use it. The cards I have not really thought about so that probably means I've not seen them used well in the very few PS5 games I've played. It's early days so we will have to see if third parties use or ignore these features over time. I'm pretty sure PS paid to get these features added as part of the PS+ deal as a way to promote them on the new console. Down the line they will want these added at the developers cost. I hope they get supported.
I really liked this game. I played on PC with game pass so I don't think there is any advantage in replaying the update but I will revisit one day happily. This and Hellblade: Senua's sacrifice really showed the value of "AA" games last gen and I hope we get a lot more of these mid budget narrative games in the coming years. An easy 8/10 for me
I've been meaning to give this a try for a long time. Its hard to find the time for "good" games these days. With so much to play if a game does not scream great its rare I find myself taking a look. I'm guessing I miss out on a lot of good games this way.
Hopefully AMD's tech can gain some ground on DLSS. I mean DLSS was not good when it launched but today it is leaps and bounds above AMDs solution. Given both main consoles run AMD it really matters that AMD up there game.
As far as open worlds go.. Ubisoft has soured me. I used to love AC games but I have not been able to deal with the long slog of the last few. I did not even try the last one though so my view is somewhat dated.
I'm amazed at all the "I'll just spend £2k on a PC instead of getting a £500 PC5 then" a lot of seemingly very childish reactions. I do not get why folks are so triggered by other people getting things. PS5 hardware lose money on every sale. Sony needs to make returns on its investment into games. If PC sales help Sony make better games we all win.
First dead space was great, second still good but I did not think much of the third. I do hope EA is not looking at what it tried with 3 and going in that direction. If so I'm not going to be interested.
Its a bit cheeky making a directors cut of a game where the director had full control first time round of a game made by a studio that even carries his name.
Can't help but think this is a cash in. Although I'm not counting out the fact that after all this time there could be many improvements and additions he did not have time and/or budget to include first time round.
Really think this should be offered as a patch or upgrade path to current owners.
How is Mario Kart 8 still getting in the top ten. Good to see R&C doing so well. I never finished the "first" reboot so didn't fancy dropping £70 on a couple of hours of play but still good to see games keeping the plague of FIFA off that number 1 spot.
I lived in Japan in the 90s and kept an apartment their through most of the 00's and still spend a lot of time visiting friends and family. Sony totally designed PS5 for western markets with its big, bold and loud design. In Japan many house holds will bring out a device like the PS5 and pack it away once finished playing. This is not conducive for high game sales. I'm sure plenty live in child's rooms where they would stay connected but few living rooms will leave the PS5 out on display.
It was not the best year and the pandemic will have had some bearing on that but both MS and Nintendo had very good showings. Clearly if you are PlayStation focused any event what has no PlayStation presence is going to have less relevance for you. But that does not invalidate the event. Again both MS and Nintendo have shown their future offerings at an event that PC, PS, MS and Nintendo gamers all followed and read about. Push Square would not have done all these write ups if Microsoft did a stand alone event, neither do they write about Nintendo Directs. Just the fact that we are discussing this right now shows that point of an event like E3. It crosses boundaries and fandoms. It gets eyes on, and lines written, from those that would not partake in stand alone events.
Its almost as if they went out of their way to set expectations as low as possible. I can't believe how bad the trailer production was. At least the game its self can only be better than what they have shown this time out
I think it is strange all those saying game pass can only loose money and will destroy gaming. Its like all these people have not already seen Netflix beat the same path. Game Pass is going to make a fortune for MS. Is there still room for Full price games, Yes. But they better be 95 plus games or true top tier. For the same price as R&C I can get 12 months of Game Pass. I have ended up with paying for one GP ultimate and two GP PC subs for my household, And we have 2 PS5s and only one XsX. As far as PS5 games all I have bought is one copy of Demon Souls. Having a preteen and 2 teenage sons plus myself means we are not a standard household but its clear to me that GamePass is a winner for Microsoft's bottom line.
I was not keen. I did not like the fact they seemed to make it very cartoonish. Both the colour palate and the increase in all the neon overlays looked garish. Also movement was janky, you left no marks on the world, clipping was poor and the trampoline hair seemed worst. But Its early days so hope to see improvements.
We've seen quite a bit of young Nathen in the games so its reasonable to set the movie in his younger years. I'm not expecting a master piece but at the same time There is plenty room for a fun heist movie.
Even with PushSquare being one the more positive game focused places on the internet still plenty folks on here looking to find a bit of misery where they can.
I'm with @Enuo on this one, 60fps is more important than 4K, and while 4K is noticeable on my 70" it's barely noticeable on a smaller screen. To many games have dropped the level of detail down ultra low to reach 4k in my view. I would have much rather had high quality textures, shadows, lighting and details at 60fps than the empty flat worlds running at 30fps/4k that we see so often on console.
Looks good but I'll be waiting to pick this up down the line. I don't think I finished the last one. The game play only held my interest for a few hours and its no longer worth me just picking things up on release to have a few hours fun with.
Edit: I just checked and I paid £30 for 2016 R&C day 1. So going from £30 to £70 in 5 years is a few steps to far for me
BC is a feature that really counts at the start of a generation, It means less as the generation continues and the native library grow. But a simple way for PS to boost BC would be to release Bloodborne 60/4k. I know I'd be happy at that point.
I played on PS4 a little after release and it was good, just replayed on PC, with gamepass, and Its a lot better at 120 fps and much improved visuals. It will be a very worth while upgrade.
And the fan boys will keep telling us that its not possible for Sony to continue without a 40% game price increase and all those MX are needed in every game. Gaming has never been more profitable, which is a great thing but lets keep this in mind when looking at costs to players
I don't pre-order anything. That's a fools game. But this would not have been high on my list even without the price issue. Rouge is not really my thing. I liked hades and dead cells but enough to justify £15 but that's about it.

Re: Reaction: E3 Is a Relic Desperately Clinging to Relevancy
Re: You Won't Have to Wait Too Long for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on PS5
Its the day one game pass that makes this a no go on PS for me. One game on PS costs almost the same as one years game pass at launch.
Re: Babylon's Fall Gets Smashed with Dislikes Upon Its Gameplay Return
Its almost as if they went out of their way to set expectations as low as possible. I can't believe how bad the trailer production was. At least the game its self can only be better than what they have shown this time out
Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side
Re: PS5 Is Probably Telling You to Charge Your Controller Way Too Early
As others have stated, follow the notifications if you want long battery life.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Mesmerises in 14 Minute Gameplay Sequence
I was not keen. I did not like the fact they seemed to make it very cartoonish. Both the colour palate and the increase in all the neon overlays looked garish. Also movement was janky, you left no marks on the world, clipping was poor and the trampoline hair seemed worst. But Its early days so hope to see improvements.
Re: PlayStation Fans Aren't Happy with This New Uncharted Movie Picture
We've seen quite a bit of young Nathen in the games so its reasonable to set the movie in his younger years. I'm not expecting a master piece but at the same time There is plenty room for a fun heist movie.
Even with PushSquare being one the more positive game focused places on the internet still plenty folks on here looking to find a bit of misery where they can.
Re: Technical Issues Restrict Biomutant to Just 1080p, 60fps on PS5
I'm with @Enuo on this one, 60fps is more important than 4K, and while 4K is noticeable on my 70" it's barely noticeable on a smaller screen. To many games have dropped the level of detail down ultra low to reach 4k in my view. I would have much rather had high quality textures, shadows, lighting and details at 60fps than the empty flat worlds running at 30fps/4k that we see so often on console.
Re: First Impressions: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is an Eye-Popping Demonstration of PS5's Power
Looks good but I'll be waiting to pick this up down the line. I don't think I finished the last one. The game play only held my interest for a few hours and its no longer worth me just picking things up on release to have a few hours fun with.
Edit: I just checked and I paid £30 for 2016 R&C day 1. So going from £30 to £70 in 5 years is a few steps to far for me
Re: PS5 Game Boost Trailer Raises Eyebrows
BC is a feature that really counts at the start of a generation, It means less as the generation continues and the native library grow. But a simple way for PS to boost BC would be to release Bloodborne 60/4k. I know I'd be happy at that point.
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order PS5 Version Feels the Force This Summer, Free Upgrade from PS4
I played on PS4 a little after release and it was good, just replayed on PC, with gamepass, and Its a lot better at 120 fps and much improved visuals. It will be a very worth while upgrade.
Re: PS5 Console Sales Reach 7.8 Million, Beating PS4's Record
And the fan boys will keep telling us that its not possible for Sony to continue without a 40% game price increase and all those MX are needed in every game. Gaming has never been more profitable, which is a great thing but lets keep this in mind when looking at costs to players
Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying Returnal?
I don't pre-order anything. That's a fools game. But this would not have been high on my list even without the price issue. Rouge is not really my thing. I liked hades and dead cells but enough to justify £15 but that's about it.
