Re: Review: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4)

VanillaLake

@get2sammyb Yeah, I haven't played 4 but it looks like it's the best, and that's logical because of all the experience the developers got after making the three first games, plus the better hardware. Naughty Dog are really impressive.

Re: PS4K Is Codenamed Neo, Has Upgraded Specs, Will Not Supplant Existing PS4 Systems

VanillaLake

So the PS4K/Neo concept is making games with two hardware configurations (kind of a PC thing) because to stop supporting PS4 at this point would be suicidal for Sony. Some 3DS games work like this, so you could say Nintendo (re-)started this idea on dedicated gaming hardware. The only problem I see is that developers might aim for the Neo better performance and leave PS4 with whatever is left, which is already happening on Nintendo 3DS, where some games are unplayable on the original hardware, e.g., Hyrule Warriors Legends.

Re: Poll: Would You Like to See Final Fantasy IX Come to PS4?

VanillaLake

Why not? There are a lot of people who haven't even played it. And lots of people would buy a remaster of any FF game, too. I got FFX/X-II HD Remaster and will get FFVII after having played the original PC version long ago. Well, if it's just a port, it's better than nothing, anyway, but I prefer remasters and remakes. Square Enix is busy now but they can pay other teams like Nintendo does.

Re: Review: Resident Evil 6 (PS4)

VanillaLake

I haven't played it yet but according to Digital Foundry's analysis the new generation version is much better. The frame rate is massively improved. As a Resident Evil game, it can be disappointing, but if you play it knowing it's not a classic Resident Evil experience, I think you can enjoy it. Also, you can keep on following the story of Resident Evil, something I love to do. I will get it, probably physically, but of course I hope Resident Evil 7 goes back to classic survival horror. Let Umbrella Corps be the shooter franchise, Capcom.

Re: Store Update: 12th April 2016 (North America)

VanillaLake

@get2sammyb Hey Sammy, do you think you could put the link to the European store update next time and vice versa so it's easier for both Americans and Europeans to access the correct one?

I think it's a great week for PS. I see that the price of Ratchet & Clank is not premium, which is great. It's out in Europe tomorrow, I hope it has the same price here. If not, I can wait, because I just got The Nathan Drake Collection.

Re: Hands On: Uncharted 4 Is Bigger and Better Than Ever Before on PS4

VanillaLake

As a relatively new PlayStation user, I just ordered Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection. One of the first PS games I bought was The Last of Us Remastered, a Naughty Dog game that I liked much. I also like Tomb Raider games and they say Uncharted is similar, so I think I'll enjoy the Uncharted trilogy quite much. If so, I'll also get Uncharted 4.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Don't Think PS4K Is Okay

VanillaLake

@Anchorsam_9 I totally agree with you, Sam! And you are very brave to express all that on Push Square, where there's an excessive tendency to honour every step that Sony makes.

I bought the PlayStation 4 six months after it launched and I can tell you I'm quite disappointed as a new PlayStation player, not only for Plus service but mostly for the lacklustre catalogue of old PlayStation games. I expected something like PlayStation 3 store, where you could find lots of PS and PS2 games, but on PS4 there are just a dozen of PS2 games, and none of them are what I was looking for. I really hoped for PS4 to be at least as appealing as PS3, that had not only brilliant new games but an impressive retro library.

Re: Street Fighter V PS4 Patch 1.02 Is Finally Live and Kicking

VanillaLake

@adf86 I agree. The game should have been delayed because of the lack of modes and content, because that harms the game's reputation, but the game will be solid and probably the best fighting game of this generation once the content has been delivered. The only problem was releasing SFV before the masses would be happy with what was included when they made their purchase.

EDIT: I will get this game, but I'm waiting for more content to be released, and a good deal if possible.

Re: PS4, Xbox One Sales Outpacing Predecessors in the UK

VanillaLake

Great news. I hope both consoles keep performing well so we get lots of good games and deals like we're doing now. Both Sony and Microsoft fans benefit from this competition.

Xbox One is much more interesting now (Kinect-less, cheaper, backwards compatible) than when it launched, while PS4 has never stopped selling, with and without games. Actually, like @BAMozzy said, it's not that Xbox One is not successful, but PS4 achieved a stratospheric success right from the start, most probably because of Xbox One early mistakes: Kinect, higher price and reserved resources not available for developers.

I don't like Sony fans saying that Xbox is dead either, but that's not true anyway. And now that Kinect era is over, it is expected that Xbox One can benefit from it and get a better performance, with higher resolutions and frame rates.
