Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Treat Gaming Like a Chore?

VanillaLake

@Anchorsam_9 But you're a reviewer so that's normal. By the by, I've always wondered if a reviewer reaches a point where he hates games... He won't admit it though.

EDIT: I think a reviewer should beat the game he is reviewing but I don't know why I get the impression most don't do it.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Treat Gaming Like a Chore?

VanillaLake

My opinion about this topic is a clear. I believe you shouldn't start a new adventure game before finishing the other one. You can play several games at the time if only one of them is story-driven though. Otherwise, it's like if you were watching two films at the same time. It's pointless and it disconnects you from those stories. It's like watering them down.

If you can't reach the end of a story-driven game is because you don't care that much for that game and you should consider giving it up and sell it if possible. The only adventure-type game I haven't beaten is Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) because it's too long, tiresome and even boring, I have to take breaks but I want to beat it because I'm around 75% (25% until I reach the end, not until I complete everything). And if you have like 50 new games you haven't even played you should consider getting less games.

I know a lot of people disagree, I have a friend that gets lots of games, he starts playing one but gives up before reaching the middle point, then he starts another one and tells me how he would love that next release date to come, and so on. I tell him that it's pointless. It's also a life attitude, I suppose. Some people don't finish what they start doing.

Re: Uncharted 4 Has Been Delayed Again, and We're Not Even Kidding

VanillaLake

I can understand Uncharted fans are annoyed but lots of big games (e.g., Zelda, Final Fantasy...) that had a long development process were delayed. The only solution is to announce a release date when development and manufacturing are almost done (one month earlier), and people wouldn't be happy with that. Or to say that it will launch in 2017 and then release it in May 2016, but people wouldn't be prepared to buy it at launch. It's tricky, if you ask me.

Re: Review: Heavy Rain (PS4)

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi No sarcasm here, I mean that the average score it got from reviewers is 81, which is quite good.

Why everybody seems to think everybody else is sarcastic on the internet??

Re: Hardware Review: How to Extend Your PS4 Controller's Battery Life

VanillaLake

I just wrote about the DS4 and its battery life here before reading this. This is the link where you can read what I've written:

Also, just for readers to don't make mistakes, Eurogamer made an article about a disappointing battery replacement just here:

Re: Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 Are All Shuffling to PS4 This Year

VanillaLake

@PlaytendoGuy It doesn't look like Capcom is going to release a disc version. RE5 and RE6 are last generation games, and most probably Capcom is releasing the HD version of 4 and all the DLC of RE5 and RE6. All that data won't fit in one Blu-ray disc (and I don't think they are releasing a multiple disc bundle), it's not like 0 and 1 Remaster that are around 10-15GB each (Origins collection).

I will get the three of them, and I hope to see a visual upgrade on them, better resolution and frame rate would be enough, but if they can improve lighting and shadows that would be great.

Hopefully, Resident Evil 7 will be survival horror again. Umbrella Corps can be a simple shooter if they want.

Re: Guide: Mastering the Basics in Street Fighter V on PS4

VanillaLake

Of course I'll get this game! I spent many hours of my early childhood playing Super Street Fighter II. One Street Fighter classic annoyance is the enemy that is constantly throwing projectiles to you, specially online. Is there a way to make them change their minds on SFV?

Re: Review: Street Fighter V (PS4)

VanillaLake

@adf86 Well, Metacritic is not to blame, they just compile all available website scores, including Push Square's. You can safely click on www.metacritic.com.The website that gave SF V 5/10 score is called "We got this cover" (don't click on them).

Re: Review: Street Fighter V (PS4)

VanillaLake

@Shillll Your review is brilliant because it's well written, you know the game very well, you have detailed all the relevant information, that's what I love to read about a game!

Re: Review: Street Fighter V (PS4)

VanillaLake

@get2sammyb Yep, those guys gave the game an unfair 5/10.

@Shillll 's review is very good, I'm a long time Street Fighter player, I did not enjoy SF IV much because it's too challenging for me. This review explains perfectly what has changed in SF V and what can players expect. Add to the well designed mechanics the new modes and fighters that are coming soon and you get one of PS4 highlights and a paradise for fighting games fans. Also, it's great that the game becomes "Super" and "Ultra" with the updates and optional purchases.

Re: Review: Street Fighter V (PS4)

VanillaLake

Wow!! Some website (don't click on them) cut the score in half just because of this:

"Street Fighter V is easily the fighting title I’ve had the most fun playing in my 20 years of gaming. That’s also why the overall package is such a disappointment. Instead of getting a feature complete, content filled package, we’re instead left with a bare bones offering that doesn’t even have the basics of the genre. The gameplay is phenomenal, with the enhancements being a natural progression of the series, but you have so few ways to experience it."

EDIT: I don't mean that's not important but that's going to be fixed, and the reviewers know it.

Re: Review: Resident Evil Zero (PS4)

VanillaLake

@Glacier928 I liked that you talked about the atmosphere, sound, "creepiness" and clever game design on the review. I loved those two games back in the day and I still have my GameCube there. I want to get the Origins Collection now, these two games well deserve being remastered and enjoyed again. I hope next Resident Evil games are survival horror like these two, and that Umbrella Corps becomes a separate shooter franchise.

Yeah, I'm a Remake/0 fan.

Re: Could Rise of the Tomb Raider Plunder PS4 Earlier Than Expected?

VanillaLake

@BAMozzy Good point. PS4 has been a hit since the beginning, but Xbox One is selling well. Since Kinect is out of the bundles and Microsoft started including games in them, 1TB hard disc drives and even elite controllers, Xbox One started being quite successful.

Even for a die-hard Sony fan, it's not good that Xbox One fails, I think last generation was great for all gamers because PS3 and Xbox 360 sold almost the same units. I would love to see the same situation this generation. Both Sony and Microsoft would be cruel if they were alone.
