Re: Poll: PS5 Fans, Are You Sold on the Nintendo Switch 2?

__Seraph

Nintendo games aren't worth £75. Look forward to the 1st party games remaining that price for the duration of the Switch 2s existence. I wince at this because it was bad enough when they were releasing Wii U rereleases at £50 with very rare sales. It's only recently that some first party games have dropped to about £35.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Game All About Faith, Religion, and 'Being Lonely'

@Godot25 Last of Us 2 was first reported to have cleared 10m in 2022, no official figures since then I don't think. The problem with that is that you get clickbaity game sites reporting that figure for years after the fact.

With remastered releasing and the show having aired since then, i can only imagine its millions more in the last 3 years.

TLOU has definitely sold significantly more, but with three versions over 12 years, (7 years on the sequel) TLOU bundles, again the TV show, and the the inevitable sequel drop off (sequels to megahits rarely sell more) what do you expect?

TLOU2 was not a flop, thats just a narrative that haters spun to make them feel better about themselves. If you think Sony wouldn't throw money at sequel, especially with the success of the show, you'd be wrong (in my opinion)

As for the length, fair criticism, personally i liked that it was long, it gave it an ambitious feel. Even people that didn't like it can't fault the ambition. I thought the scenarios the game threw at us were varied enough to keep it high quality from start to finish.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Game All About Faith, Religion, and 'Being Lonely'

@Bionic-Spencer Lets be honest, there isn't anything in the world that's universally loved. Also, TLOU2 wasn't universally hated, it was extremely divisive, which is completely different.
You'd be naive to think that Neil Druckmann and co didn't think a lot of people were going to hate TLOU2, it was definitely intentional(to a degree)
Honestly, they deliver a good game that gets people talking, 10s of millions of people who love it, then Alex garland is right 'Who gives a f**k?' Especially when the feedback from the haters, is anything but constructive. I honestly couldn't disagree with you more. Keep pushing it, get people talking, forget the haters.
I think what they did with TLOU2 was ballsy and we need more people to push the envelope.

I'll be looking forward to this

Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

__Seraph

@johncalmc I've kept quiet on it until today, but I consider myself a hardcore fan and I was happy with what we got. I know there'll be online metrics probably expressing dislike etc. But i think it's fair to say there'll be plenty of big fans who don't engage socially on the internet. I generally don't apart from the odd message on here. I generally find most internet discourse and discussion just becomes fruitless because people argue their points 'loudly' and stubbornly in an infinite, pointless loop. Yet here I am.
I don't think being hardcore always equates to thumbs downing and so forth. I suppose we have nothing else to tell us.

I think you're right about the live-service debacle, defintely set Sony back years. But when we've got Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, Intergalactic, Saros and Wolverine in the pipeline I can't get too down.

I'm happy having seen these games already, enough to get me hyped.

Funny thing is , I might have been disappointed if the big trailer was DS2 again. I've seen to ultra long trailers of that already.

Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

__Seraph

The discourse just highlights several things to me:

1. A lot of gamers have become entitled and spoiled
2. People are still clamoring for 1st party exclusives on Playstation, even though there's a ridiculous amount of quality games coming, including probably all of Microsofts games. ( I find this a bit tribal)
3. People that claim to be gamers have a strangely narrow taste in games (Ok, that's not proven, but sometimes it seems that way)
4.People don't give a darn about new IPs, even if it could be the next big hit
5. People for some reason want close to everything shown to be up their street. (which is generally unrealisitic)

Now, people will counter with 'we don't need to like it' and that's true, ya totally can. I just get it. There's enough quality games to last me more than my lifetime, the only thing that annoys me is I'll be dead before i get a chance to play them all.
We're all on limited time, can anyone here truly tell me there's not going to be enough quality games to keep you going for life? I doubt it. I'm happy with what we're getting, I don't care about what Sony have put out this generation. I have enough.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for January 2025?

__Seraph

@Lup Just because you've played them doesn't mean its lackluster. It's a great lineup, I actully paid 60 quid over the holidays for Like A Dragon and God of War, and i've played and loved Sayonara Wild Hearts and Citizen Sleeper, so while theres nothing for me, it's undeniably a great month. I'm a huge GOW fan and still haven't played it. Not everyone needs everything day 1 and I find beinga patient gamer is a huge advantage overall. I;m not the only one.

Re: The Composers of Intergalactic PS5 Just Won a Golden Globe for Their Challengers Soundtrack

__Seraph

No doubt the score for Intergalactic will be top-tier, these guys are at the top of their game. I love the transition from NiN to being sought-after composers for Film and TV (and games!)

@riceNpea while i agree, i would say as score composers they're quite out there on their own. If we were keeping the realm of popular or alternative music separate from scores and soundtracks.

Re: Bayonetta Turns 15, Announcements Planned to Celebrate

__Seraph

I honestly wouldn't be too surprised to see the trilogy release on other platforms. first party IP use is evolving a little bit, with what Playstation and Xbox have been doing, though I still doubt it. with the OG Bayonetta being multi platform, who know's, maybe Nintendo will do it? Not much of a precedent when it comes to Nintendo mind you! We'll never see a multi-plat Mario!

Re: Game of the Year: #3 - Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

__Seraph

@UltimateOtaku91 I would say Ishin is for sure, but it's still very silly and has some grindy content you may consider bloat. maybe you'd prefer the feudal setting though? Story wise, they're disconnected from the main series yes. they do use the characters from the main series as a template though, so some cheeky references or likenesses may go over your head, but it's pretty minor overall i'd say.

Re: Game of the Year: #3 - Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

__Seraph

@UltimateOtaku91 If that's how you feel then I'm pretty sure the series isn't for you, from my perspective thats some of the stuff that makes the series special.

I can't express enough how much i love this series. I'm actually a few games behind though now, I haven't played Gaiden yet, so Infinite Wealth is still on hold. Playing Ishin right now. With Pirate Yakuza next year I'll have three games.

Re: Square Enix Insists Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Hasn't Been the PS5 Sales Disaster It's Been Painted As

__Seraph

@Rich33 I get your point, thanks for the detailed response. I enjoyed both games despite any technical misgivings, but I've always been quite forgiving in that respect. That's not everyone though, and that's fair enough. I'm a huge FF fan, I enjoyed 16 but definitely a mid-tier FF for me. Still a very good game overall.

FFVII rebirth i really loved though, FF is genuinely the only series I buy day 1, I'm a patient gamer otherwise. I hope you grab it at some point and enjoy it.

Re: Hands On: Final Fantasy 16's Clive Is Ridiculously Well Realised in Tekken 8

__Seraph

@DennisReynolds I'm not insulting you, I'm criticising you, hows that? Anyway, I have been a bit heated recently, I'll give you that. What I said will get removed, gonna move on now. My original thought was you were being unfair to the actor, not because you thought he was boring, but because you said he hadn't got work after FF? That was just an outright lie. I'm not even a big Ben Starr fan or anything, I thought FFXVI was average. I still disagree with what you said. I try to offer a balanced opinion most of the time. Anyway lets agree to disagree, I take back any insults.

Re: No Duos Allowed in Elden Ring: Nightreign's Take on Battle Royale

__Seraph

@ozkrmz Yep, I'm sure you'll be one of the guys who cries when the game is well-received. No need to be so cynical when the game isn't even out yet. Also, enjoy not buying it, I'm sure the world at large will go on, we'll have a lot of fun without you!
I also have to take umbridge with the 'Battle Royale' tag that Push Square is using, seems a bit reductive. The way it's been described it sounds a lot like a co-operative rogueite with a few elements of a battle royale. Even that sounds off

Re: Intergalactic PS5's Toxic Detractors Peddling Patently Fake 'Leaked' Story Details

__Seraph

@Kingy I mean, come on man, Is it really criticism when people are crying about playing as a female, or specifically one with a shaved head? not in my opinion. When people are attacking race, sexuality and the likes of Elon Musks 'anti-woke' agenda? because that's what this kind of thing amounts to. I know what you said about politics, but i think it's disingenuous of you to suggest that's not where a mountain of this criticism comes from, whether it's outright suggested or not.

I mean your Guy A/B argument is extremely reductive, It's ok to enjoy the trailer for the very fact that it's a AAA sci-fi game, which one might find intriguing, if you found it shallow, that's fine, but just like anything subjective it can be read differently, it doesn't boil down to hot and cold like you've suggested. The wor;d isn't black and white after all.

In my opinion, Yes, you should absolutely retain neutrality until the final product. That goes for absolutely any piece of art. like a painting, you don't judge it on a square inch or two. There'll be more trailers, there'll be a vertical slice. Maybe we can talk more then, a straight up judgement of a teaser is totally unfair in this case, and i'll argue that all day, til the cows come home.

I mean we're talking discourse over the way a character looks and teaser witha song for eff sake. Anything positive to say? The fidelity or the engine, or anything, or did you come in negatively? not to downplay your feelings or *****, i feel like you've been slightly disingenuous.

I will fight to the end of the world to judge them based on the final game whether they have more resources or not. they're only human after all, that's honestly a nothing point to me.unfair in my opinion. we know nothing about how difficult it is to make a game like this.

As for The Last of us 2, you're being disingenuous again. Come on. The critics roundly praised TLOU2 yes, but a lot of the backlash comes directly from Ellies sexuality or the way Abby looks, and if you deny that, I'm sorry, but i think you are being naive.Thats definitely filtered through to this game. You know what i mean, and if you deny it, i know you're having me on.

Re: Intergalactic PS5's Toxic Detractors Peddling Patently Fake 'Leaked' Story Details

__Seraph

@Treestar Yes, because the cesspit of YouTube commenters is the absolute authority of all of gaming worldwide. There's unwarranted backlash to absolutely everything. Usually the words, 'trash' 'garbage' or 'dogshit' are involved, any sensible human who can think critically should switch off at the mere mention of such words, unless they are indeed describing actual garbage, or ya know, the actual feces of a dog.

Re: Intergalactic PS5's Toxic Detractors Peddling Patently Fake 'Leaked' Story Details

__Seraph

@Treestar No, but that's besides the point of what I've said. You talked about community backlash, and Ghost of Yotei had plenty, as did The Witcher IV. Or maybe you're just not part of those communties? Naughty Dog get held to a different standard and that's a fact. Blame on UNcharted, blame it on The Last of Us, whatever. The reaction to The Last of Us 2, proves everything.

Re: Intergalactic PS5's Toxic Detractors Peddling Patently Fake 'Leaked' Story Details

__Seraph

@Kingy I mean, i agree with a lot of what you're saying, but you're definitely entertaining a lot of what you say you don't, and being awful judgmental for someone who says not to judge; the point of the article is to denounce unwarranted criticism, you can't truly judge anything until the game itself comes out. You can criticize a trailer, sure, but you can't criticise the game. It's like judging a full album on a clip of a song or a movie on a teaser, you simply don't know.
Games get held to different standards, because ts now the biggest industry in the world and I kind of understand that, but the fact remains, you don't know. Nuaghty dog also get held to different standards because of the weird backlash to Last Of Us 2. I'll never denounce constructive criticism, but that was just off the scale in terms of strange behaviour. would never happen with movies or music, which is weird because they are arguably true artistic mediums. And the point of art is subjectivity. Tell me that's not backwards.

Re: Intergalactic PS5's Toxic Detractors Peddling Patently Fake 'Leaked' Story Details

@Treestar Sorry, you've been spouting so much nonsense i should've specified what comment i referring to.
'Desire to play as a character is vital in character design'
No thats not true at all. Take that from a gamer since 90.
That's not what makes a game popular, nor does it pertain to the quality of the game itself. Your community response is a blip on the scale of things mate, no offense. This game will sell a load and no one will care about the nerdy opinions on a site like this and I'm sorry if that hurts you. Also, positive response to Ghost of Yotei?? You must be kidding. You should realise that opinions on games around the world are far beyond your pseudo- intellectual opinions. get over yourself and your community
