No doubt the score for Intergalactic will be top-tier, these guys are at the top of their game. I love the transition from NiN to being sought-after composers for Film and TV (and games!)
@riceNpea while i agree, i would say as score composers they're quite out there on their own. If we were keeping the realm of popular or alternative music separate from scores and soundtracks.
I honestly wouldn't be too surprised to see the trilogy release on other platforms. first party IP use is evolving a little bit, with what Playstation and Xbox have been doing, though I still doubt it. with the OG Bayonetta being multi platform, who know's, maybe Nintendo will do it? Not much of a precedent when it comes to Nintendo mind you! We'll never see a multi-plat Mario!
@UltimateOtaku91 I would say Ishin is for sure, but it's still very silly and has some grindy content you may consider bloat. maybe you'd prefer the feudal setting though? Story wise, they're disconnected from the main series yes. they do use the characters from the main series as a template though, so some cheeky references or likenesses may go over your head, but it's pretty minor overall i'd say.
@UltimateOtaku91 If that's how you feel then I'm pretty sure the series isn't for you, from my perspective thats some of the stuff that makes the series special.
I can't express enough how much i love this series. I'm actually a few games behind though now, I haven't played Gaiden yet, so Infinite Wealth is still on hold. Playing Ishin right now. With Pirate Yakuza next year I'll have three games.
@Rich33 I get your point, thanks for the detailed response. I enjoyed both games despite any technical misgivings, but I've always been quite forgiving in that respect. That's not everyone though, and that's fair enough. I'm a huge FF fan, I enjoyed 16 but definitely a mid-tier FF for me. Still a very good game overall.
FFVII rebirth i really loved though, FF is genuinely the only series I buy day 1, I'm a patient gamer otherwise. I hope you grab it at some point and enjoy it.
@EfYI As a huge FFVII fan since release, this is something i hear and really don't understand. How can it spoil childhood memories when the OG still exists and is widely available? The remake won't overwrite your memories or anything like that, don't worry!
@Rich33 None of those are turn offs to me, aside from the blurry graphics. (which I didn't notice, cos my TV is old, I only ran it 1080p and it looked fine). also FFXVI? what do you mean by that?
For anyone looking to get into the series, this will be a great place to start as it's the first chronologically in the greater series. Does beg the question, are they going to remake Trails in the Sky 2 and 3? I'm thinking......yes
Glad he seems to be blowing up, he was good as Clive and it's well deserved. He's got a ways to go til he hits Troy Baker levels though! DennisReynolds will be annoyed! Thanks for the troll PushSquare!
@DennisReynolds I'm not insulting you, I'm criticising you, hows that? Anyway, I have been a bit heated recently, I'll give you that. What I said will get removed, gonna move on now. My original thought was you were being unfair to the actor, not because you thought he was boring, but because you said he hadn't got work after FF? That was just an outright lie. I'm not even a big Ben Starr fan or anything, I thought FFXVI was average. I still disagree with what you said. I try to offer a balanced opinion most of the time. Anyway lets agree to disagree, I take back any insults.
@Hyena_socks I mean that's a pretty ill-informed thing to say when it can be played single player. No need to be so cynical, could be a good game. I'm sure the people who are working on it are passionate about it. Unfair to say that
@ozkrmz Yep, I'm sure you'll be one of the guys who cries when the game is well-received. No need to be so cynical when the game isn't even out yet. Also, enjoy not buying it, I'm sure the world at large will go on, we'll have a lot of fun without you! I also have to take umbridge with the 'Battle Royale' tag that Push Square is using, seems a bit reductive. The way it's been described it sounds a lot like a co-operative rogueite with a few elements of a battle royale. Even that sounds off
@Kingy I mean, come on man, Is it really criticism when people are crying about playing as a female, or specifically one with a shaved head? not in my opinion. When people are attacking race, sexuality and the likes of Elon Musks 'anti-woke' agenda? because that's what this kind of thing amounts to. I know what you said about politics, but i think it's disingenuous of you to suggest that's not where a mountain of this criticism comes from, whether it's outright suggested or not.
I mean your Guy A/B argument is extremely reductive, It's ok to enjoy the trailer for the very fact that it's a AAA sci-fi game, which one might find intriguing, if you found it shallow, that's fine, but just like anything subjective it can be read differently, it doesn't boil down to hot and cold like you've suggested. The wor;d isn't black and white after all.
In my opinion, Yes, you should absolutely retain neutrality until the final product. That goes for absolutely any piece of art. like a painting, you don't judge it on a square inch or two. There'll be more trailers, there'll be a vertical slice. Maybe we can talk more then, a straight up judgement of a teaser is totally unfair in this case, and i'll argue that all day, til the cows come home.
I mean we're talking discourse over the way a character looks and teaser witha song for eff sake. Anything positive to say? The fidelity or the engine, or anything, or did you come in negatively? not to downplay your feelings or *****, i feel like you've been slightly disingenuous.
I will fight to the end of the world to judge them based on the final game whether they have more resources or not. they're only human after all, that's honestly a nothing point to me.unfair in my opinion. we know nothing about how difficult it is to make a game like this.
As for The Last of us 2, you're being disingenuous again. Come on. The critics roundly praised TLOU2 yes, but a lot of the backlash comes directly from Ellies sexuality or the way Abby looks, and if you deny that, I'm sorry, but i think you are being naive.Thats definitely filtered through to this game. You know what i mean, and if you deny it, i know you're having me on.
@DennisReynolds I mean i've disagreed with you elsewhere, but i could not agree with you more on your last comment here, and in this discussion in general.
@Treestar Yes, because the cesspit of YouTube commenters is the absolute authority of all of gaming worldwide. There's unwarranted backlash to absolutely everything. Usually the words, 'trash' 'garbage' or 'dogshit' are involved, any sensible human who can think critically should switch off at the mere mention of such words, unless they are indeed describing actual garbage, or ya know, the actual feces of a dog.
@Treestar No, but that's besides the point of what I've said. You talked about community backlash, and Ghost of Yotei had plenty, as did The Witcher IV. Or maybe you're just not part of those communties? Naughty Dog get held to a different standard and that's a fact. Blame on UNcharted, blame it on The Last of Us, whatever. The reaction to The Last of Us 2, proves everything.
@Kingy I mean, i agree with a lot of what you're saying, but you're definitely entertaining a lot of what you say you don't, and being awful judgmental for someone who says not to judge; the point of the article is to denounce unwarranted criticism, you can't truly judge anything until the game itself comes out. You can criticize a trailer, sure, but you can't criticise the game. It's like judging a full album on a clip of a song or a movie on a teaser, you simply don't know. Games get held to different standards, because ts now the biggest industry in the world and I kind of understand that, but the fact remains, you don't know. Nuaghty dog also get held to different standards because of the weird backlash to Last Of Us 2. I'll never denounce constructive criticism, but that was just off the scale in terms of strange behaviour. would never happen with movies or music, which is weird because they are arguably true artistic mediums. And the point of art is subjectivity. Tell me that's not backwards.
@IntimidatedDoggo I actually kind of agree with this to be fair. It's the very exact reason that the likes of Mary Jane in Spiderman 2 and Angela in Silent Hill 2 got so much hate, despite the actresses being beautiful. So yes, thanks for that one, i agree.
@Treestar Sorry, you've been spouting so much nonsense i should've specified what comment i referring to. 'Desire to play as a character is vital in character design' No thats not true at all. Take that from a gamer since 90. That's not what makes a game popular, nor does it pertain to the quality of the game itself. Your community response is a blip on the scale of things mate, no offense. This game will sell a load and no one will care about the nerdy opinions on a site like this and I'm sorry if that hurts you. Also, positive response to Ghost of Yotei?? You must be kidding. You should realise that opinions on games around the world are far beyond your pseudo- intellectual opinions. get over yourself and your community
@Treestar that's a fallacy btw. just outspoken loud nerds think that. the likes of this opinion means nothing to the average gamer, which still makes the sales. that opinion is not a majority. you care enough that you've pooped your nonsense all over this comments section, so explain that please?
Why do people come to a comment section just to be negative about a game? I Just don't understand this quirk of humanity. I can guarantee you that the people that do this don't ever clcik on a comments section to be positive. Get a life folks.
@NeonTiger Think you're exaggerating a little bit there. This doesn't have the affect the 'sacred' lore one bit. It can be non-canon or a multiverse thing or whatever. Which is what i think it is. People losing their minds over a big nothing as usual.
There are zero lore ramifications
As always I'm hyped for a new Naughty Dog game. The character could be absolutely anything and I wouldn't care. I'm more interested in the experience itself and won't be crying over a female character with a shaved head. This is discourse that shouldn't even exist, games are for playing, not to facilitate ones playing with oneself. I've noticed a good bit of backlash over the way Ciri looks in The Witcher IV as well, ya know cos she's not attractive enough. I'm losing faith in humanity. @Nepp67 I mean really? I understand power fantasy as much as anyone, but really? A character has to be attractive or you can't play? I just don't get it. If a game's good it's good, the way the protag looks means nothing to me. I like them any old way ,what matters is if they're compelling and the game's interesting.
@somnambulance Day 1 releases are vital for some people and not for many others. I don't care about Day 1 releases in the slightest. I much prefer Playstation Plus because I've had much more use out of its selection of games. Had Gamepass (f0rfor two years, but I cancelled it about 6 months ago cos I wasn't using it. Day 1 releases are a bad thing in the long run. I'm happy to wait for games or get em physical
@Stragen8 Well when you consider that's not was this game is trying to be, that's not really a valid criticism is it? If it was billed as the next main entry in From Soulslikes then I'd agree. This is clearly an experimental side game.spin off which has been pitched by a younger director, it's not Miyazakis next game. FROM are working on multiple games. Not all of their game have to be like that.
Sounds great to me, the usual dooming and glooming from some folk in here. Fair enough if you don't like the concept, but it's not meant to be a soulslike, it's a different type of game with The Elden Ring branding. One to be judged on it's own merits on release, not to cry about cos it doesn't align with your tastes. FROM are working on their next big game and we won't be seeing that for a long time.
@breakneck Why is that even a problem? Most companies are 5 years between games these days, and if the game is good, who cares? Honestly with the 'fanboi' chat as well. People can like things without being criticised because you don't.
Honestly man, kneejerk reactions like this is gonna be FROMS only game for years and years. Fair enough to everyone who say it doesn't sound like its for them btw, that's fair, unfair to criticise FROM in my opinion though. Judge things on what they try to be, not what you think they should
They have all been pretty poor, but The Venom films built up a solid fanbase, my family love them as well. Plus ya don't make three films for nothing. Not a fan of the SSU stuff myself, they should just can it. Stick to the mainline stuff or multiverse Spidermans like others here have said.
I just bought Sonic Frontiers two days ago, bloody typical. The upiside is that it's a physical copy! I won't grumble too much, decent month for me overall. Interested in Forspoken. Though i have FIST on my laptop, it'll run better on my PS5. I've had A Space for the Unbound on my wishlist for a while and I've been holding off on Coffee Talk 2, cos i finished the first one recently.
Got a respectable 10. I've got hundreds of hours in the series but i few of the questions were very tough. I've not played Gaiden yet so I didn't know the female character from that.
@breakneck Bit of an unfair assessment there, they talk about taking inspiration, as everyone creative does, and they're suddenly lacking imagination? I would say taking shots at bloober at the top of the comments is the only thing lacking imagination here. Will wait and see what the game is all about before judging.
@AverageGamer I think that's more a symptom of the difficulty and cost of making high-quality games these days tbh. Since games went Triple AAA both companies have struggled releasing exclusives, especially Microsoft. Sony have struggled with it recently. It's just the state of the industry.
@themightyant Or maybe they'll add meaningful, worthwhile content? Geez, people are so pessimistic these days. I'm cool either way. A bit of faith required, especially considering it's the OG developers. Silent Hill 2, Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 and more all did the OG justice.
Was Grime also on essential at one point? i cant check just now. I have it on my laptop anyway but would prefer to play on ps5. I put some good time into Stranger of paradise, so i think i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy my own copy. it's cheap now anyhow. I already own the Mega Man collections and Judgment so I'm good there and the rest I'm cool with not playing. CAn't play 'em all unless the gods grant me eternal life

Honestly man, kneejerk reactions like this is gonna be FROMS only game for years and years. Fair enough to everyone who say it doesn't sound like its for them btw, that's fair, unfair to criticise FROM in my opinion though. Judge things on what they try to be, not what you think they should
Re: Sony Pictures Seemingly Done with Terrible Spider-Man Spin-Off Flicks
They have all been pretty poor, but The Venom films built up a solid fanbase, my family love them as well. Plus ya don't make three films for nothing. Not a fan of the SSU stuff myself, they should just can it. Stick to the mainline stuff or multiverse Spidermans like others here have said.
Re: 12 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Arrive Next Week
I just bought Sonic Frontiers two days ago, bloody typical. The upiside is that it's a physical copy! I won't grumble too much, decent month for me overall. Interested in Forspoken. Though i have FIST on my laptop, it'll run better on my PS5. I've had A Space for the Unbound on my wishlist for a while and I've been holding off on Coffee Talk 2, cos i finished the first one recently.
Re: How Well Do You Know Yakuza / Like a Dragon?
Got a respectable 10. I've got hundreds of hours in the series but i few of the questions were very tough. I've not played Gaiden yet so I didn't know the female character from that.
Re: Bloober's Cronos: The New Dawn Inspired by Dead Space, Alan Wake Mechanics
@breakneck Bit of an unfair assessment there, they talk about taking inspiration, as everyone creative does, and they're suddenly lacking imagination? I would say taking shots at bloober at the top of the comments is the only thing lacking imagination here. Will wait and see what the game is all about before judging.
Re: Kadokawa Wants Sony's Full Commitment with Buyout of Entire Company
@AverageGamer I think that's more a symptom of the difficulty and cost of making high-quality games these days tbh. Since games went Triple AAA both companies have struggled releasing exclusives, especially Microsoft. Sony have struggled with it recently. It's just the state of the industry.
Re: Capcom's PS Plus Premium Games Available Now without Subscription
@Don I already got Resident Evil DC, is the same true for that?
Re: Capcom's PS Plus Premium Games Available Now without Subscription
Good, now we can all stop moaning and groaning about it!
Re: Remedy Is Aiming for Excellence with Max Payne Remake
@themightyant Or maybe they'll add meaningful, worthwhile content? Geez, people are so pessimistic these days. I'm cool either way. A bit of faith required, especially considering it's the OG developers. Silent Hill 2, Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 and more all did the OG justice.
Re: 16 PS5, PS4 Games Set to Leave PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Month
Oh and i beat Moonscars in one day, took 8 hours, an enjoyable 9-5 that day!
Re: 16 PS5, PS4 Games Set to Leave PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Month
Was Grime also on essential at one point? i cant check just now. I have it on my laptop anyway but would prefer to play on ps5. I put some good time into Stranger of paradise, so i think i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy my own copy. it's cheap now anyhow. I already own the Mega Man collections and Judgment so I'm good there and the rest I'm cool with not playing. CAn't play 'em all unless the gods grant me eternal life
