Re: Review: Tom Clancy's The Division (PS4)

@SonyInfinity Actually this is one of the few Ubi games where I felt collectables are interesting to "collect". They all tell you a piece of the big story, and helps to get the grasp of the dying City.

On a general scale, I am liking the game a lot. The campaign is long and there are more things to do than Vanilla Destiny. Plus, all the main missions scales to 3 difficulty levels, daily challenges and size of the team, making them more re-playable. Also, you get a constant flow of loot, keeping you hooked (as long as you like loot games).

Overall a well crafted experience, let see what comes with upgrades and dlc, but the base is here and there is more content than the other console-MMO so far

Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console

arnoldlayne83

@ShogunRok your example would be valid if after two year my smartphone won t be able anymore to run and do what I have bought it for: calling, messaging, skyping, surfing.

I buy a console because I expect that for 5-6 years I do not have to bother about hardware update. If this is not the case, it is better to get a gaming PC, so I can at least choose when an upgrade is needed and is not imposed by a greedy company that want to cut me out if I don t pay the upgrading fee....

This is also why I got disamoured of Nintendo with its stupid New3ds

Re: Is Destiny About to Come Back with a Bang?

arnoldlayne83

Considering how thin were the 2 costly dlcs I wonder how big will be this update.... They should actualise the older raids to the new light level, update Skolas, introduce some random event and make the year 1 loot useful again.... I doubt this will happen.

Anyway, I am totally into the Division now and waiting for Dark souls 3 and No Man's Sky, so I don't think I will go back to Destiny

You should all check DW8e after the latest patch. Now units move out of their base amd gameplay got a lot better.

I will wait to get this one, I saw the review coming since I saw Robert playing this last week. Thanks a lot for the review. Which did you enjoy the most Robert, this or DW8EMPIRES ?

Re: The Division Is Ubisoft's Fastest Selling Game of All Time

arnoldlayne83

@BAMozzy the absence of trading in Destiny was good, otherwise interest would have faded in a week, considering how few decent weapons and armours are there...

Inbthe Division it seems the loot is much more varied, randomized and complex (each item has different modifiers, level and special perks) more like in Diablo or Borderlands. So i believe the total amount of combination is way bigger than Destiny. I would love to trade one of my ten knee armours with a silencer for my pretty pistol....

Re: Hands On: The Division's a Clinical But Compelling PS4 Shooter

arnoldlayne83

So far so very good. With a team (and even random matchmaking) is a blast. Bullet sponges happen only when you fight overlevelled enemies and yellow ones, but grenades, explosive shots and pulses can greatly reduce the effort to take them down. It is an rpg, anyway.
I also love that each main missions have 3 level of difficulties and they scales to your team size and higher team member level, so you can replay them all the time having a hard challenge. It is overall a surprisingly good game, coming from Ubisoft

Re: Ubisoft Told a Porky, You Can't Improve The Division's Frame Rate on PS4

arnoldlayne83

@adf86 I loved destiny and then slowly got pissed about it. So I am pretty happy The Division came, in order to satisfy that hunger left after Destiny weared out.

I played the beta and yesterday i reached lv.6. I am finding The Division much more "rpg-esque" than destiny, which was really a shoot and loot after all. Have you taken some time looking at all the abilities, perks and talents you can unlock? Have you seen that all the guns and equipments have dps, 3 modifier for each categories (which modifies your attack, defense and support) and parzicular perks like increased critical damage and or other bonuses? That's for telling you that it seems, up to now, a much more deeper game. I found better guns (dps-wise) than one I had, but i refrained to use them because of the perks I have on the older ones. Same goes with unlocking abilitites... I am still thinking if I should grow as a lone-wolf or more a support character for when I will play online with friends.... In destiny it is just a dumb run towards higher level and higher (read endgame) weapons, up to that point you don't really care about what your loot is, just that it can increase your light level. So at the end, 90% of the guns in destiny are pretty useless....
It is true that here, due to realistic setting, you can't have the "apocalipse 3000 mega-rocket-nuke launcher".... but you should focus more on the character build and perks. For me it is more rpg than it seems..... And I just mention that gunplay is waaaaay more tactical than destiny "shoot shoot bum bum and stay alive"

Re: Sniper Elite 4 Targets the Most Gruesome Low Blow on PS4 Yet

arnoldlayne83

Happy to see that they go for unusual ww2 theaters. After the north african campaing against afrikakorps they go for this one in my country during the civil war. It is weird for me (as italian) to listen people talking italian in soldier uniforms in videogames, our history of that time has never been considered too much in the Medias.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

arnoldlayne83

I don't understand all this fuss about. As usual, you can VOTE with your WALLET. Wait for the game to be released, inform yourself and then decide if it's a good value for your money.

Personally, I won't judge by the amount of people that made it, but about the ration price/playing hours or level of enjoyment it gives to you. That's all should matter to us.

It is not a lazy remaster with small texture update and nothing else like Twilight Princess....

Re: Ubisoft Really Is Desperate to Break Records with The Division

arnoldlayne83

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi the story will revolve about this quarantined NY with rival gangs fighting for control and the investigation about the virus, was it an intentional spread? Sure, base building is important because the levelling is separated among guns, equipment and perks(the latter is the base related one).

Re: Ubisoft Really Is Desperate to Break Records with The Division

arnoldlayne83

The beta won me. I passed from "looks like destiny all over again" to "looks like how destiny should have been...".
The loot is frequent, random and not pointless (not like in destiny: at low level every gun looks and shoots the same, at high level only exotics with highest light matters). Modding the weapons is fun and really change the gunplay style. You are not bound to 3 stupid, almost equal, static classes. You can experiment your build and switch perks on fly (foggy-snowy day? Take your sniper rifle and pulse perk for being invisible killer). DZ is surprisingly dynamic, as PvPvE area, me and my buddies passed from deatmatch to team deathmatch to zone control to all vs 1 to all vs bots. Extraction zone is a great mechanic that build up tension among players. The gunplay is very tactical, you can equip your team with different weapons (LMG for suppression fire, shotguns for closing gap, sniper for recon). You can really apply squad combat tactics to this game. You can grind the same mission for better, guaranteed loot (not like in destiny where story missions and patrols are useless).

My only concern is a general emptyness of the map. I hope they add more random encounters/factions war. But Dev said the stripped down the beta, so I am positive. Other issue is that the balance in the rogue mechanic. DZ can be a annoying mess or a boring friendly zone according to the oercentage of rogue agents at time. Devs have to fight the right point where turning rogue is good for you but risky, so a balance is guaranteed

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 106

arnoldlayne83

The Division.... I love the dynamic mechanics that are created in the dark zone and the tension that builds up at extraction zone. I am liking the game so far and the loot has more sense than in Destiny. I wish that New york would be more filled with enemies and random events. At times you just wander for minutes without anything happening...

Re: Review: Arslan: The Warriors of Legend (PS4)

arnoldlayne83

Thank you for your great review Rober, I was waiting for it.

The demo gave me the impression of an almost empty, bland musou.... I am sad that your review confirmed that impression. I was hoping for a grand scale musou with more strategy and tactics than DW series, but it looks like it is not. I ll skip this, fortunately on ps4 we already have some great musou in which i can sink myself...
