It was pretty "meh", huh? Sifu was a nice surprise and Kena is looking pretty good but it was an average showing at best. Probably why Sony announced it out of the blue: no mayor announcements so no reason to hype it.
Anthem was as good as dead on arrival but 2020 effectively killed any chance of a comeback release. Its still the best thing that can happen for both Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
Bloodborne is already the best 3D Castlevania game ever so if I had to give the IP to anyone else on the list beside FromSoft it would be Platinum Games or Team Cherry, with the proper budget of course.
For Metal Gear Solid the only sensible choice would be Kojima productions as this game is so inherently japanese, ideally with Kojima in a more hands-off aproach as producer and maybe get Yoko Taro to direct, mask on 24/7.
@Phelan CDPR still lied it's way to release and promised a game-to-end-all-games that is, as you point out, a "solid 8/10" with terrible performance. Safe to say this is one of the biggest letdowns in the industry in a long time. The only other such high-profile release that I remember tanking this hard upon release is probably Deus Ex: Invisible War as was pointed out in the comments.
I don't know how a new Metal Gear works without Kojima and, as much as I want a new MGS, I don't think I can tolerate another of Hideo Kojima´s self-adulation campaigns that go along with the development of his games. For example, Death Stranding might be a good game but for all his huffing and puffing about creating a new genre (he was a pioneer in the stealth genre but wasn't the only one. Remember Thief?) and he ended up with the "social strand" (really?) which, to be fair, is an evolution of From's soulslike invasion/summoning mechanics. Conclusion: I like his game design philosophy (minus the creepy views on women) but I can't stand his narcissim.
Next state of play has to be substantial, and I agree that Returnal needs more marketing behind it or they are just sending out to die. Hopefully the mkt campaign kicks in on April, it has to.
I was thinking the other day about how they should add a "warhawk" mode to Destruction Allstars or something. That game can work as a platform for all kinds of multiplayer ideas from Sony's past. A Twisted Metal mode or season is a no-brainer in my mind.
@GKO900 I also think this was a missed opportunity to bring back Twisted Metal. It's not like it's some obscure Sony IP, this was a major franchise during the PSX era, I myself only ever played Twisted Metal Black on PS2 and that was one of the best games on the system. Who is to say there isn't a Twisted Metal season or expansion down the line. At the very least new characters or skins of Playstation franchises.
Good lineup! I was already thinking of getting Control physical edition on March but this deal is too good to pass up if you add Concrete Genie AND Desstruction all-stars which I'm not that interested in really but might as well try it.
@Ear_wiG I imagine it will work something like Hades or Dead Cells where you unlock certain starting items, and ability-stacking like Risk of Rain and Binding of Isaac. I'm actually looking forward to getting this, pending reviews of course, but it's Housemarque so I'm thinking it's going to be a solid 8 at least. Imagine if its as good a Hades but with the "AAA production values coating" on top.
This was such a perfect PSX experience for me back in the day that I never thought it needed to be remade but now that I think about it... original PSX Metal Gear Solid + MGSV: Phantom Pain gameplay = YES, PLEASE!
@Nepp67 I´m getting that vibe. This games keeps looking better and better. With Hades proving you can have good storytelling in a roguelike provided you adapt the narrative structure I have high hopes that this will be Housemarque's long-coming but much-deserved blockbuster.
I like sales as much as anyone but most comments here want discounts on games that released just this past month, and I was going to go on a rant that sales undervalue a dev's work but then I remember that games now go for $70 USD, so f*ck that! gimme those sales!
Returnal looks better every time we get a new look. If the structure is anything like Hades rogue-like storytelling then I think Sony may have another Tsushima-level sleeper hit on its hands. And its probably going to be the best looking PS5 game until Gran Turismo 7 arrives.
Demon´s Souls remake is taking most of my gametime right now but I'll have to make some room for Sekiro and BloodborNe: Old Hunters as soon as I sync my saves to the cloud and download them on the PS5.
I was thinking about getting Control Ultimate Edition but I'll wait for the proper PS5 physical release now that it's been confirmed for March 2021.
We should have seen this coming. All the signs were there: multiple delays, mandatory crunch, pre-launch patches. I hope they can still turn it around but I'm not holding my breath for the last gen versions.
@PapaGlitch That thinking is a problem in itself with the negatives of somthing like Gamepass being that it basically devalues games, kinda like the same problem with steam sales. How do games make money with a sytem like gamepass? royalties or something?
I feel like we got a whole lot of nothing. We sure got a lot of CG trailers of games we won't hear back from for a couple of years. The positives: Returnal is looking very good, Disco Elysium coming to consoles. The WTF: Scarlet Nexus? Really Bandai-Namco? You only had to do one thing. Well, back to the dreg heap my hollows.
Gangs raiding delivery trucks to steal sought-after game consoles, scalper gangs using bots to secure pre-order; all this in the middle of a global pandemic that is collapsing capitalism as we know it and delivering us into a new techno-feudalism era ruled by our Silicon Valley tech overlords....all this time waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2020 sneaked up on us.
@willi3su Patience is the skill you have to master. Once you defeat Gael you know is because you got better, the fabled git gud attitude. Then you play Sekiro and get your ass handed to you by a poo-throwing ape.
What lesson was learned here exactly? It wasn't a rumor or gossip, he posted it on his social media channel. I think it's true that the PS5 pictured is his friend so he was just lying about getting one and wanted to seem cool because he sold it for a profit as a back alley ticket-scalper and now that it has blown up in his face he wants to turn it around as a lesson to us all to never trust what you see online, specially coming from a massive *****.
For me, MS can keep Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 as exclusives as long as they let Arkane keep releasing its games on PS5. I would buy a Series S on the spot for a Prey 2.

Re: Returnal PS5 Gameplay Trailer Focuses on the Ever-Shifting World of Atropos
Yet people still paid $60 USD for broken-ass Cyberpunk1997. I for one am looking forward to the nice fireworks to show of PS5.
Re: ANTHEM's Big Overhaul Has Been Cancelled
Anthem was as good as dead on arrival but 2020 effectively killed any chance of a comeback release. Its still the best thing that can happen for both Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
Re: Sony Confirms Next Generation PlayStation VR Is in the Works for PS5
Now we just need Valve to announce Half-Life: Alyx for it, or maybe an Orange Box 2 that also includes a Portal spin-off or sequel.

@RudeAnimat0r And they have to make Bloodborne 2 first.

@DeepSpace5D I was just thinking about Alone in the Dark. I sincerely hope a Japanese dev is handling Silent Hill.
Re: Classic PS1 JRPG Legend of Mana Is Being Remastered on PS4 This June
@nessisonett This is exactly the reason I liked this game when I was a kid. Now we only need a Vagrant Story remaster and all will be well.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Approaching Two Months Absent from PS Store
Can't believe I once tought this was going to be a kind of Deus Ex 2.0.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for February 2021?
Great month! I will be trying out all three games this months as I was already planning on getting Control so thanks for that, Sony!

Crash Team Racing 2. I'm calling it.

Re: Poll: What Was the Best PS4 First-Party Exclusive of the Generation?
Bloodborne is the only (in)sane choice, but I agree on the stupendouse generation that Sony had with PS4/PSVR.

39.99 is still too much for Godfall.
