@Zeke68 Ubisoft games def have size/playtime hell they are too big/long and quality is up to each individual person so I can’t comment on that. I just remember paying like 110 or 120 for the steelbook gold edition of Origins from GameStop back when I was physical so thats what I meant by I don’t get the outrage because ubi has been doing this for awhile now at least I’m the US
@Shakybeeves dude are you new to gaming single player games have had season passes for well over 15 plus years now. Is Elden ring, HFW,Witcher 3 etc greedy because they give fans more content to enjoy
@Specky I agree with certain game communities that are insular but when I need a question answered when it comes to games, comics, movies etc they are pretty helpful and chill
@gipsojo because Capcom or capgod as fanboys and media like to call them because they’ve been on a roll lately got it some points plus in the decade plus DD has become something of a cult classic on the internet so that helped. I agree though the game is mediocre just like the first and there’s a reason in real life it’s never brought up.
@VaultGuy415 that is empty though there’s nothing to find but a repetitive enemy you’ve fight dozens of times before since the bestiary is anemic as hell. Like I’m sorry but calling HFW,Zelda or Elden Ring empty is crazy because they are the furthest thing to empty there’s always a sidequest, treasure chest, npc’s,unique area or camps to take over.
Literally just finished it and now I wish I wouldn’t have played it because I was already hyped and that demo just blew my already high expectations away like damn lol.
That’s because it’s not a great title it’s mediocre just like the first and instead of listening to the criticisms of the first they just doubled down and didn’t improve
@Godot25 I never said they couldn’t I specifically said that the mp part of their new game would probably be a live service or live service like mode kind of like gta online is for gta now
@Godot25 listen this conversation is going nowhere so let’s just wait till Sony or Bend themselves make an announcement. You can go on believing they are turning into a live service studio and I’ll continue to believe their working on a new open world ip with mp like they’ve already stated and until then neither of us are wrong
@Godot25 my guy the studios on the slide and other articles Sony released were their studios making live service games for Sony so that’s why Bend weren’t on there like keep up. They aren’t hiring people to turn Bend into a live service studio Jesus it was one job opening and once again their new open world ip is going to include mp which I’m sure you’ve googled and saw the articles so that’s why. Devs don’t make mp modes that are meant to be played just a few weeks they all want continued live service money so they got to keep those mp modes moving with new content, battle passes etc. Now is this clear enough for you since you somehow say I dodged your post when I literally replied to you lol.
Of course they were going to port more they weren’t doing just four and stopping all of a sudden. I’ve always said since this started happening that they went with the four they did because they are smaller and the backlash wouldn’t be as loud(even though that ended up not being true lol)and once their fans were used to it is when the big ones were coming.
@Godot25 go google Bend announcement and see where they say they are starting work on a new open world I.P with MP. This job listing wording means absolutely nothing and when Sony announced their live service plans Bend wasn’t listed as one of the studios working on one. Sony also just cancelled quite a few of those announced live service games. Bends new game that has a mp component isnt being looked at as an afterthought so they want an experienced person to help with it and monetize it but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a live service game which would be totally different from how they announced what they were working on next
The original article is completely clickbait and flimsy and I can’t believe push would post this. Bend already said they were working on a new open world ip that would include MP which is what this is most likely pertaining to but it’s easier to just report they are doing a live service game and rile up the haters because that gets more clicks
Lol all these problems that most games would have def got dinged for in their reviews hell look no further than the sites Alone in the Dark review but yet this game didn’t and got a 9 smh. I’m already seeing people turning on the game across the net because they fell for some reviews that over praised it saying that it’s boring, nothing to do but fight, horrible story and characters and a world that’s boring as hell to explore and all I can think is I feel sorry for the ones who didn’t play the first DD because all that describes that game and its why after reviews said they barely changed anything from the first that I saved money after buying the first three different times and never making it past a few hours. The series just isn’t for me and is imo mediocre from top to bottom except for it’s combat.
Nah don’t make try to semi justify this pushsquare it’s ridiculous a single player rpg has micro transactions. It would be just as crazy if FF 7 Rebirth,HFW or Witcher 3 did it or I don’t think any of them would get a pass would they?
@ShogunRok @ShogunRok yeah I read the review and it was a very well written review but nothing in there told me that you thought it moved the open world genre forward. There’s landmarks which every open world game as but to my understanding there’s never nothing unique to find or explore just emptiness or maybe a fight which ok that’s not unique. No map markers is cool but it’s not like Elden ring or Zelda where they wanted you to discover a whole bunch of cool stuff since there’s really nothing to find but fights. I’m just not seeing and reading anywhere what is so amazing about this open world that it would push the genre forward. I’m happy that you were a big fan of the first and you love the sequel and I wish I could have been a fan but when there’s 12 years between games and it feels like you’re playing an expansion because the game doubled down on its few strengths while fixing none of its many negatives that just doesn’t cut it. I just can’t buy the statement that it moves the open world genre forward when it does nothing major that the first from 12 years ago didn’t already do and no one ever said DD 1 moved the open world genre forward.
@ShogunRok please explain how DD 2 pushes open world design forward I’m honestly asking because I haven’t seen any other reviews say that and watching videos I just don’t see it. It literally looks like the first DD but prettier and that one’s open world wasn’t special and was actually one of the worst I’ve experienced
@Korgon yep same reason I hated the first one and knew this probably wouldn’t be for me. Like if you’re going to do an open world action rpg you better have good lore, story, characters, companions and setting or at least some of those. This game has lore that’s about as cool as watching paint dry, comical characters and not in a good way, barely any story and the pawns being the companions is bunk because they are blank slate nobodies. The reviewer being a big fan of the first, which I’ll never understand having fans lol, is the reason this review is so gushy and somewhat hyperbolic. Like I doubt this game comes close to ER or TOTK going by other reviews I’ve read but hey I’m happy he can enjoy a bland world, story and characters just because of the combat and no map markers but I need more than that in my open world rpg’s.
87 metacritic which is higher than I was expecting but it sounds like more of the original which I thought was mediocre so I’ll be passing. Igns review really summed it up perfectly by saying it bolstered its strengths while adressing none of its weaknesses. Reading this gushing review and it’s crazy because it’s mostly about the combat and saying how dangerous the open world is which was true of the first while noting the story is nothing to write home about. There’s no great sidequests like Witcher 3,HFW etc, the dialogue lip sync is comical and would be harped on if it was other games just like the crap sidequests would and hell you just did with FF Rebirth. You say in the beginning it’s stuffed with secrets but give no examples so I find that hard to believe because the firsts open world had jack all to find. I feel like some reviewers see an open world with no markers and automatically think oh how unique and great and completely overlook or downplay the negatives which is just ridiculous.
@RBRTMNZ oh I couldn’t make it pass the first two levels so don’t feel bad. I’m glad I tried it on gamepass because if I spent money I would’ve been pissed
Played and beat it on gamepass when it came out but the game is so good that I still preordered it and started playing it yesterday. I’m finishing rebirth on chapter 13 thank god than I’m focusing on it.
@GeminiReign the story was standard but wasn’t serviceable because it was badly written and forgettable, the world I don’t see how it was interesting to explore when there was nothing unique to find or any rewards for doing so plus the level design was mediocre. I said the combat was one of the only good things about it but it wears it welcome out because once again the enemy variety was anemic and that’s all there is to do in the game. At least you didn’t try to argue about the bad voice acting and forgettable music and characters so there’s that. I’ve played plenty of rpgs I’m playing rebirth right now and there’s plenty that’s way better than DD. To name a few there’s FF rebirth,HFW,Witcher 3,Elden Ring,GOT,Cyberpunk 2077 and going back a little further there’s Fallout 3/New Vegas and Skyrim. DD doesn’t come close to sniffing any of those games which offer almost the complete package some more than others compared to DD.
@GeminiReign @GeminiReign so what specifically do you disagree about with my comment since I took the time to explain why it’s mediocre bordering bad. You don’t think the story was garbage and characters forgettable and do you think the world was actually designed well and gave reasons to explore?
@GeminiReign that’s fine you don’t agree but I feel it’s was mediocre bordering on bad. The story was a joke, the world was barren and horribly designed with no reason to explore, voice acting was mediocre to bad, characters were beyond forgettable, music was forgettable, enemy variety was anemic and the technical aspects were really mediocre. The only thing it had going for it was it’s combat and pawn system and that’s it.
I’m really enjoying it it’s a good game but man this is when I wished I had nostalgia for the original like the hardcore fans do because it would help to overlook all the problems. The world can be beautiful but way too inconsistent graphics wise and the sidequests are still poop and barely better than part one I would love if they were Horizon FW,Witcher 3,Cyberpunk 2077 and GOW Ragnarok level. The overarching story is pretty bad but the character interactions are great and I really love the combat. The open world feels like a gen ago I mean ubi towers when even ubi quit doing that ages ago lol and there is nothing unique to discover at landmarks hell anywhere that isn’t marked with an icon. I would probably give it an 8 so far but I still have tons of game to go so maybe it will get better. Oh and their slow walking sections are literally worse than any other game that has them
Yeah I’m really liking the game so far but my god in the mountains of nibelheim there are tons of spots where the rocks and mountains are just low res and muddy where it just looks like globs of clay mushed together and this is in fidelity mode.
I don’t get why people do this like what do they gain. It’s like when a game as leaderboards and all you see is cheaters on the top spots and at that point why even have leaderboards
@man_what lol exactly I’m still excited to play this but I can’t stand the hypocrisy from users here who I’ve seen crap on games for having filler or crap sidequest.
