@NEStalgia A well written and thought-out post, but I believe that as long as Sony continues to make great games and promote them effectively, they will be just fine (as will Nintendo); in fact, I encourage them to continue to use a model that reflects the value of their games as a high end product in the market. As an analogy, you can have Prada or you can have Gap. If Sony ends up being more "niche", as you put it, so be it.
@ViperXT Demon's Souls and Sackboy were both confirmed as launch titles by Sony. It's one heck of a launch with those plus Spidey and Astrobot. Godfall is one, too, but I'm not sold on that one by any means.
I am stunned that nearly 25% of readers here (a devoted Playstation fan site) would reconsider their PS5 purchase or even decide not to get a PS5, simply because Bethesda's new games, WHICH ARE YEARS AWAY, may not be on Playstation. Especially because Sony's first party games overall crush Bethesda's titles. I guess the XBox game plan is working...
I"m really not happy about the way this went down. Pre-orders were supposed to be today (it's 2:18 AM where I am), not yesterday. Everything in the US was sold out (including Amazon) by 12:00 AM today or close to it. I did almost get lucky enough to get a Best Buy PS5 Digital Edition yesterday evening, but it sold out just as I was about to pay.
First world problem, but I really wanted a launch PS5 to play the DeSo remake. Now I'll probably be waiting months to get one (I'm not going to pay $1K on ebay for one). Good thing I have a large backlog!
@Friendly I understand that sentiment but there is a lot more gameplay there than you think (except Death Stranding ). I am not big on cutscenes, so I get you, but combat/gameplay is really good in Horizon, GoW, and Ghost. And sometimes a good story can add weight to the game. That said, I prefer something like DeSo or Bloodborne, with minimal story elements.
@Friendly I mean those games all play very differently and have very different stories, so... I can't really understand your point of view. But if it's not your thing, it's not your thing.
@Zeke68 I never really understood that complaint. The fighting is a little wonky when you compare it to something as refined as the Souls games, but it’s pretty solid overall and is better than quite a few other games of similar nature. Could you specify what it is in particular you were having trouble with?
As for myself, I never played the DLC, so now I have an even better reason to finally get around to it. I’m pretty excited.
@zupertramp Talking about the modern Batwoman, as you know — introduced in 2006. The 1956 one is completely irrelevant to the new character, who was clearly created merely to cater to diversity.
@Orange_Man_Bad Yes. Batgirl is a cool character that fits into the DC universe from the early days and makes sense. Batwoman is an annoying and shoehorned-in rather recent character created to cater to a certain crowd demanding inclusivity.
@Jaz007 Red Hood looks the least interesting to me, actually. Robin and Batgirl are classic and Nightwing is super cool. Red Hood with his guns just seems out of place and derivative.
This game is officially on my most wanted list, above anything else I am anticipating (and tbh above Elden Ring, at the moment, since we've seen really nothing on it). Let's hope the full game delivers at the same level as this vertical slice.
I think it's a mediocre if not poor ad that should have focused on real gameplay, rather than CGI of a non-game. One thing in particular that bothered me was the voice was mixed far too low and was quite unclear in places, with several words difficult to make out. I'd say it's a C- at best.
Actually, unlike Microsoft, I think Sony would NOT say this were it not true. They don't need to overpromise and overhype. I'm confident they will deliver and that this lineup will blow away previous generations (which really isn't terribly hard, tbh, given prior launch lineups — with the possible exception of PS1's).
@gmxs it’s precisely because I like and value this site that I expressed my concern about its direction. It’s my right to express my opinion, particularly as my visits here support this site via ad revenue, etc. If you don’t like people voicing an opinion, you’re the one that should get lost.
@Boucho11 You think it's my problem, but it's actually yours — you just don't know it because more people in our society now accept it. But morality and behavior shouldn't merely be governed by what society currently dictates; there is a "right" thing to do. That aside, if you feel that kind of language is appropriate, I'm sorry but you simply have no class or consideration. Foul language offers nothing of value except to willingly come across as disgusting and rebellious. There are better and more descriptive ways to say things with words that are not offensive. It's one thing for people to use such language in speech for emphasis, which I also don't like, but it's another to show up in professional web pages and publications. Never mind the fact that kids read this site, too.
I know you won't see it my way, because you are not willing to honestly examine why such language or other crude behavior is inappropriate.
End of discussion — I won't be reading your responses from here on out.
Using “F*ckingNothing.gif” did nothing for this article except to come across as unprofessional and inconsiderate. I see this as a little bit of a trend lately here. Please stop it.
@Bliquid That's a good point. I had to grind a lot in Souls games, although I couldn't do it in Sekiro, which made me actually push myself to get better. In fact, I've considered replaying the Souls games without trying to grind so much, since I feel like Sekiro showed me I'm a better gamer than I gave myself credit for. But there are too many games out there still on my backlog for me to do that.
@Bliquid I'm actually glad to hear it's shorter, especially as it's a clone — these games never really live up to the originals, so if I do get it I'll be less likely to burn out on it in 20ish hours.
@Gr8VngnzN4esAngr Agreed. I truly believe angry uneducated/misinformed folk with an axe to grind online are a greater societal problem than the pandemic.
I'd really rather not come on here and read stuff like "chill the f out" in formal posts/articles (whether semi-censored or not). I get enough of that from uneducated and/or inconsiderate folk elsewhere. Surely you can do better.
@EvilRyu2164 Okay, but there’s no point in doing it that I can see. You can just wait to purchase until reviews or demos are available. Then you don’t have to worry about canceling or a bad purchase, etc.
@Cutmastavictory Understood, but when resources and production/promotional dollars are going to games like that, it’s taking away from other games being made.

Re: Reaction: Spider-Man PS5 Debacle Shows Sony Is Out of Touch
@electrolite77 Up to a point, you are right. Many people have crossed that line, though.
Re: Reaction: Spider-Man PS5 Debacle Shows Sony Is Out of Touch
@MidnightDragonDX Agreed, but change "gamers" to "the majority of people".

@JJ2 Glad it worked out for you too!

Finally grabbed a copy of DeSo Remake as well. Gosh that Best Buy website is struggling!
I usually buy digital but always buy my From games on disc.
Re: PS5 Pre-Orders: Where to Buy PlayStation 5
Update... Just got the full disc edition on Best Buy. Lots of refreshing and waiting and crashing. But finally went through!
Good luck to everyone still trying!

@Kev_Morrison Agree with some of your points but to say PS5 is "much weaker" than the XBSX is a bit ridiculous.

@BAMozzy To be fair, probably 95% of us thought the same thing.

@playstation_king Yeah, not Baron. Seems more Duke, Earl, or Viscount to me. Maybe even Marquess.
