Re: Larian Studios' Next Two RPGs Sound Ridiculously Ambitious

BG3 is probably my second favorite game of all time, just after Elden Ring. They removed the awkwardness and repetitive elements from the Divinity games and made something truly special, with deep characters and an overarching story I cared about. The turn-based combat is probably the best I have ever seen, and I dearly hope they don't change that (I can't stand real time with pause, it's way too confusing). I will admit to being concerned about them not holding on to the DnD license, but I have a feeling that, regardless, they will be giving us some excellent titles for years to come.

This sounds like DD1. It was so hyped to me as an amazing cult classic must-play, and I put in a good number of hours trying to find the fun. Eventually, I realized it just wasn't. I think all the above comments have convinced me to pass on DD2, which I was already leaning toward doing.

@CrackmanNL He may have done some good things in the past, but it's pretty obvious with the timing of everything that he was asked to leave. He pushed all these live service games and put the company in a serious hole. He oversaw the awful Bungie acquisition. There are almost no PS5 first party exclusives. He has no respect for classic games and Playstation's history (he has been quoted on this), and the PS Premium lineup has largely been a joke. He has no gaming sense, and most of us are thrilled he is gone.

I found the demo dull, but they obviously put a lot of effort into it, so I was generous and gave it a 5. If you actually fought the battles, I think it could have grabbed my attention. For background, I'm a huge Vandal Hearts and FFT fan, so it's not like I don't enjoy Tactics RPGs.
