Re: PS Store Golden Week Sale Features Over 700 PS5, PS4 Deals

everynowandben

I think I'm going to break and just get the Deus Ex MD Deluxe Edition even though I already own the standard edition - just to get the DLC. I've been waiting for the season pass to go on sale for over 6 months now, but it never has - even though both the standard and deluxe editions of the games go on sale seemingly every other week. Really I'd only be saving about $4 by getting the season pass over the deluxe edition anyway. Plus, maybe selling "another copy" of the game will help the future of the series in some small way.

I may also pick up the Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition Duke Nukem Bundle. Seems like it could be some dumb fun.

Waiting to see what gets announced for May PS+ before making any purchases though.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying Returnal?

@bpomber Reviews often contain objective and/or semi-objective information such as game length, features, modes, options, and quality of experience (i.e. bugs/glitches) that are sometimes NDA'd out of previews and impressions. Knowing that kinda stuff before making an expensive purchase matters to me, especially when the game is a new IP and/or from a studio I'm unfamiliar with.

@Nem Holy $#!+ don't even get my hopes up like that! I would actually explode and die like 😮😮😯😵💥💀 Honestly though I think they would probably try and complete the Jensen trilogy before remaking the original. That being said though, I would love nothing more than a great remake of the first game. It's still an incredible game, and holds up overall in my opinion, but a fresh coat of paint, tighter controls, better voice acting... Oh man... 🤤🤤🤤😳 I mean 😎 Yeah that'd be pretty cool or whatever

@lolwhatno Haha.. Most liked comment of the day maybe, but definitely not ever on the site or anything. You might notice that comments towards the top of an article typically get the most "likes" regardless of content. Oftentimes this is simply because whoever comments first (or close to first) is really just the first person to say something a lot of other people were also thinking - I think that's what happened here too.

@Richnj Dude, I wasn't actually calling people stingy gits, I was quoting your previous comment, sarcasm included.

Also, of course "professional" reviews are not perfect, but they obviously can guide you. The PushSquare review for Days Gone for example pointed out that the game has bugs that detracted from the experience. Additionally, user reviews are not a fail-safe surefire way to look into a game either - look at how many games get review bombed or sometimes the opposite like what was going on with Balan Wonderworld. On top of saying that, user reviews also do come fairly quickly anyway.

@Richnj Reviews come out on the day of a game's release or several days beforehand. You're a "no good stingy git" if you wait for a sale, not if you wait for a review.

Edit: Just wanted to specifically point out (because apparently it was not obvious) that I was quoting comment #172 and not actually calling anyone names. Richnj said, "if you wait for reviews of games to come in, you're a no good stingy git, according to this Sony dev it seems." What I should have replied with was perhaps something like, "I believe your statement would be more accurate if it was phrased as follows: 'if you wait for a sale, you're a no good stingy git, according to this Sony dev it seems.' " because Garvin was talking specifically about gamers waiting to purchase games at a discounted price, not gamers waiting for reviews. Hopefully that's clear enough to understand. If you would like to know what I think, scroll up to comment #2.

Hopefully people read this and think twice before attacking their fellow community members without taking the time to understand the context of what is actually being said and to whom.

Re: Resident Evil Village Has You Killing Animals for Upgrades

@Gilvin I'm not a psychologist, but I do have a degree in psychology. Here's my take on it: Humans are morally responsible for their actions, while animals are not. Animals never "deserve" to die, while with people, it's easy to imagine them as "evil" and therefore, we don't feel bad when that "evil" person is eliminated, even if by our own hands. Not only that, but eliminating evil actually feels good. Even when animals are misbehaving, or do bad things, we still don't typically view them as being "evil" but merely wild, confused, hurt, etc. which is why it never feels good to see animals hurt or to hurt animals. It also has a bit to do with in-groups and out-groups. People care about who or what is in their in-group, and not about what is in their out-groups. Where that line is drawn is often the cause of all sorts of prejudices regarding race, sexual orientation, religion, political party, and most relevant in this example, what counts as a "person." When a person considers X to be outside of their in-group, its very easy to take one more step and consider X to not even be a person, and therefore no longer feel empathy towards X. It's easy for most people to put animals, especially cute animals, in their in-group. However, even people who love animals still eat meat, and its typical for those people to have cats, dogs, bunnies, and horses in their in-group, and cows, chickens, and pigs in their out-group. It's interesting too how easy it is for a person to find the pig they met and can see with their own eyes in their in-group, but the pig their bacon this morning was made out of was in their out-group. I could go on but I'll stop there.

Re: Upcoming BioShock Game Could Be Open World

everynowandben

I'm really excited to learn more! Personally, I don't prefer open world design in general, but I don't think it's inherently the wrong choice for a new Bioshock game. It might be awful, it might be awesome - it all depends on execution. I think people are going to have pretty high expectations for this too, so hopefully this game aquires the top talent the IP deserves.
