Re: Portal Co-Writer 'Would Love to' Make Portal 3

Check out Portal Reloaded if you have a gaming PC. It's a fan mod that ads a third portal (through time), a new story, and is overall very well done. It'll definitely break your brain and make you feel like a genius when you finally solve the puzzles.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 (PS5) - Dark Future RPG Is Finally Ready to Rock

Article compares it to an open world Deus Ex: MD. Just wanted to say that I think that's more like that's what CDPR tried to do vs what they actually did. If you like immersive sims, don't get your hopes up. CP2077 is a great game, and I enjoyed it, but it's not an imm sim. Hate to be the "um, actually..." guy, but I felt obligated to temper this specific expectation.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West's PS5, PS4 Visual Issues a High Priority, Patch Incoming ASAP

Loving this game! It's not very innovative compared to the first one, but the first one was great and I'm definitely happy with more of the same. If they do another one though, hopefully they find some ways to spice up the formula a bit more.

HDR is awesome. If it looks bad, you're doing it wrong.

I have definitely experienced some glitches: textures popping on and off at extreme rates, Aloy and/or enemies getting stuck in the environment, floating objects, visibility warnings that don't turn off... Worst one was that I couldn't finish a mission without reloading as snapmaw i needed to kill fell through the environment.

It's a little rough in it's current state, but overall the game is incredible and I am loving it. Nearly 30 hours in already!

I also played Half-Life: Alex on Oculus Quest 2 via Air Link on PC and it was truly an incredible experience. If you have a decent PC, find yourself a Quest 2, play this (and RE4VR while you're at it) and then sell it for the same price you paid for it. Make a fake FB account if you're paranoid worried about it - that's what I did.

For me at least, I kinda got used to the mental/physical disconnect that causes motion sickness. I mean, the severity lessened over time. I think your body kinda starts to understand that everything is fine if you play frequently enough. By the end of RE4VR, I was running around full locomotion no problem. It helps to kind of act out the motions when moving in VR - physically walking in place in real life for example - especially if there are stairs. Oof. I also found it helpful at first to turn sideways and pretend I was skateboarding or something, hahaha.. But jumping off a ledge in game, or worse, those launch portals in Doom VFR.. 🤢🤢🤮

Re: Would You Kindly Read This Rumour About BioShock Isolation?

@Miles_Edgeworth I agree with most of the critique that @nessisonett provided, but wanted to add that the first two games, especially 2, give you a crazy amount of control over customizing your build, and playing to a unique style that suits your personal tastes. Infinite killed off all of that, only allowing you to carry 2 guns, and 4 modifiers for playstyle customization. It's shallow. Additionally, the modifier choices are basically random, and unexciting. They were trying to streamline the mechanics for a wider audience, but in my opinion, they ended up dumbing down and neutering the most fun part of the gameplay instead. Severely limiting your choices like that killed a crucial component of what made the series great (in my opinion). That's just one of the many aspects of the game that came out half baked, and to me, it's the biggest reason Infinite is not even close to as fun to play as the first two. Still a good game, but ultimately a failed masterpiece that simply doesn't live up to it's name or ambitions.

Re: Resident Evil Village Wins Game of the Year at Golden Joystick Awards

@Onigumo Metroid Dread was awesome. The only reason I'd go RE8 over MD is that I felt like MD played things a little too safe, and didn't innovate as much as maybe it could have. I kept hoping for a really interesting new mechanic or powerup, but every time it was something familiar. Additionally, the parry mechanic during boss fights is basically just a bunch of QTEs in disguise, and I think people will remember this less fondly over time. Still an awesome game overall, and an absolutely respectable pick imho.

Re: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Has Gone Gold Ahead of PS5, PS4 Release

@theheadofabroom I played HR and MD within the last year, and I don't think they've aged poorly at all. There are of course many more options than the 3 you listed as far as where they could go with the franchise. If it were up to me, the next game should have about the same budget as MD (just to be somewhat realistic - I'd love for them to have a gigantic budget, but obviously that isn't going to happen), mechanics that iterate on the formula in the same way MD iterated on HR, and be marketed as a cyberpunk game that's very refined, and actually immersive. All easier said than done, sure, but that's what I think the goal should be. There are always real life conspiracy theories floating about, and I don't think there's any reason that the story line is going to hit too close to home for people, especially not the target audience.
