Just started it today and will retire it today as well. Played for ~3 hours and found it overly punishing and tedious. Glad other people like it, but it's just not for me.
Check out Portal Reloaded if you have a gaming PC. It's a fan mod that ads a third portal (through time), a new story, and is overall very well done. It'll definitely break your brain and make you feel like a genius when you finally solve the puzzles.
Article compares it to an open world Deus Ex: MD. Just wanted to say that I think that's more like that's what CDPR tried to do vs what they actually did. If you like immersive sims, don't get your hopes up. CP2077 is a great game, and I enjoyed it, but it's not an imm sim. Hate to be the "um, actually..." guy, but I felt obligated to temper this specific expectation.
Loving this game! It's not very innovative compared to the first one, but the first one was great and I'm definitely happy with more of the same. If they do another one though, hopefully they find some ways to spice up the formula a bit more.
HDR is awesome. If it looks bad, you're doing it wrong.
I have definitely experienced some glitches: textures popping on and off at extreme rates, Aloy and/or enemies getting stuck in the environment, floating objects, visibility warnings that don't turn off... Worst one was that I couldn't finish a mission without reloading as snapmaw i needed to kill fell through the environment.
It's a little rough in it's current state, but overall the game is incredible and I am loving it. Nearly 30 hours in already!
@DragonSlayer1759 My pre-order from Target says it'll arrive on Wednesday.... So yeah, I just got back from the store, planning to return the copy I get in the mail next week.
I also played Half-Life: Alex on Oculus Quest 2 via Air Link on PC and it was truly an incredible experience. If you have a decent PC, find yourself a Quest 2, play this (and RE4VR while you're at it) and then sell it for the same price you paid for it. Make a fake FB account if you're paranoid worried about it - that's what I did.
For me at least, I kinda got used to the mental/physical disconnect that causes motion sickness. I mean, the severity lessened over time. I think your body kinda starts to understand that everything is fine if you play frequently enough. By the end of RE4VR, I was running around full locomotion no problem. It helps to kind of act out the motions when moving in VR - physically walking in place in real life for example - especially if there are stairs. Oof. I also found it helpful at first to turn sideways and pretend I was skateboarding or something, hahaha.. But jumping off a ledge in game, or worse, those launch portals in Doom VFR.. 🤢🤢🤮
I got an Oculus Quest 2 a couple months ago. I can't imagine having to be tethered by a wire. Unless PSVR2 is wireless, I'll skip it like I skipped the original.
Okay, no longer eagerly anticipating this one unfortunately. Will still keep an eye on it as we get closer to release, but this footage is not doing the game any favors. Looks ugly and boring.
Not worth it for me personally. I almost never replay games I've already beaten. If there was some new content I would pay up and play again for sure. Oh well.
Wait, do you get the movie ticket voucher even if you are just doing the upgrade? I'd buy it then for sure since I was going to see the movie anyway.
@Miles_Edgeworth I agree with most of the critique that @nessisonett provided, but wanted to add that the first two games, especially 2, give you a crazy amount of control over customizing your build, and playing to a unique style that suits your personal tastes. Infinite killed off all of that, only allowing you to carry 2 guns, and 4 modifiers for playstyle customization. It's shallow. Additionally, the modifier choices are basically random, and unexciting. They were trying to streamline the mechanics for a wider audience, but in my opinion, they ended up dumbing down and neutering the most fun part of the gameplay instead. Severely limiting your choices like that killed a crucial component of what made the series great (in my opinion). That's just one of the many aspects of the game that came out half baked, and to me, it's the biggest reason Infinite is not even close to as fun to play as the first two. Still a good game, but ultimately a failed masterpiece that simply doesn't live up to it's name or ambitions.
@FullMetalWesker I haven't played Psychonauts 2 yet, but it seems like it's a must play. I'll have to bump it up my priority list. Would you recommend playing the original first, or does it not really matter?
@Onigumo Metroid Dread was awesome. The only reason I'd go RE8 over MD is that I felt like MD played things a little too safe, and didn't innovate as much as maybe it could have. I kept hoping for a really interesting new mechanic or powerup, but every time it was something familiar. Additionally, the parry mechanic during boss fights is basically just a bunch of QTEs in disguise, and I think people will remember this less fondly over time. Still an awesome game overall, and an absolutely respectable pick imho.
Also my game of the year. If you don't think so, what's yours? Pretty cowardly to say RE8 doesn't deserve it, but then not say which game you think does.
My hidden gem of the year is Portal Reloaded, but it's PC exclusive. For Playstation... Procession to Calvary was pretty great. I also really liked Rain on Your Parade, but that's not on Playstation either... Procession to Calvary was pretty great though!
I started this a few days ago, and am just over halfway through the campaign. Its alright. Good enough to finish, but I can tell by now I'll have no interest in any of the content beyond the main campaign.
Knockout City is pretty fun with a couple friends. I might give The Persistence a shot at some point. Walking Dead S&S seems pretty good if I ever get PSVR.
Very excited to play these games. Love Batman. There is a ridiculous amount of Batman and Batman adjacent video games in existence.. Finally got to play through Arkham VR for the first time today actually. Hopefully these 2 new ones will be among the greats.
@get2sammyb Yes, but still kind of weird because Deadshot and Harley Quinn don't look very similar to the versions of those characters in the Arkham games.
No matter what I type in for a new password, even a gigantic string of random letters, numbers and symbols, it says "too easy to guess" so... unfortunately it looks like I won't be changing my password
@theheadofabroom I played HR and MD within the last year, and I don't think they've aged poorly at all. There are of course many more options than the 3 you listed as far as where they could go with the franchise. If it were up to me, the next game should have about the same budget as MD (just to be somewhat realistic - I'd love for them to have a gigantic budget, but obviously that isn't going to happen), mechanics that iterate on the formula in the same way MD iterated on HR, and be marketed as a cyberpunk game that's very refined, and actually immersive. All easier said than done, sure, but that's what I think the goal should be. There are always real life conspiracy theories floating about, and I don't think there's any reason that the story line is going to hit too close to home for people, especially not the target audience.

Re: 13 Per Cent of Horizon Forbidden West Players Have Finished the Story on PS5, PS4
Finished it a few days ago, did all the side quests I could find, and maybe half of all the other stuff too. ~55 hours total. Great game!
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.07 Is Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes
@Yorgen Wouldn't it be better if all these fixes happened before the game released?
You're unlikely to do anything worthwhile, relevant, and/or interesting if you're always waiting for things to be better.
Re: Cyberpunk Shooter-RPG The Ascent Guns for March Release Date on PS5, PS4
I don't get what some people love above this one. Guess it just wasn't for me or my game group. We all bounced off it pretty quick.
