Re: Suicide Squad the Villain Behind Warner Bros Gaming Revenue Drop

everynowandben

I just played through Suicide Squad and it's not THAT bad, but it isn't good, and it especially sucks with what they did with the storyline. What a waste. It almost feels spiteful how disrespectful it was to their own legacy. It's like the dev team was their own suicide squad, killing themselves while killing their take on Batman.

I played through it on PC the other day and loved it. It's a dark, surreal, sometimes funny walking sim that subverts expectations for how video games work/play. The story was quite interesting and very well written in my opinion, and I would highly recommend it if you like the genre and artsy movies/games. Took me a bit less than 4 hours to finish.

Re: System Shock Remake Will Launch at Its Very Best on PS5, PS4

@breakneck This remake isn't really an imsim in my opinion, so I would consider that in your decision. I still liked the game when I played in on PC last year, but it doesn't have many of the qualities that are typically used to describe immersive sims. It's not very similar to System Shock 2 (or even Bioshock) as far as depth of system interactions and opportunities for player creativity. I went into it thinking it was something it isn't and was slightly disappointed over it. On the other hand, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door is, one of, if not the best, turn-based RPGs ever made imho. Can't say for sure if they mess up something in the Switch version of course. As a lover of both imsims and Paper Mario, I would say get Paper Mario first, and wait for System Shock remake to go on sale.

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?

1. RE4 Remake
2. Alan Wake 2
3. Amnesia: The Bunker
4. Dead Space Remake
5. Jedi Survivor
Runner ups: Hogwarts Legacy, Cocoon, Remnant 2

Played so many more amazing games on other systems this year, too. And then a bunch more games I want to play but still haven't even been able to get to yet.

Best year in gaming of all time!

Re: Do You Want Dead Space 2 and 3 Remakes? Time to Tell EA

everynowandben

Remakes for both would be amazing.

Dead Space 3 would need heavier changes, I agree with that, but it's not even close to as bad as people like to say it is. Pretty sure a bunch of the DS3 haters are phony bologna band wagon riders who have never even played it before. It's still a good game, and leagues above something like RE6. If you're whining about the 100% optional and unobtrusive microtransactions, then simply ignore them - problem solved - as again, they are 100% optional and unobtrusive.

Re: Reminder: Last Chance to See Your PlayStation Wrap-Up for 2022

My top 5 by time played:

Horizon Forbidden West
God of War Ragnarok
Metro Exodus
Spider-Man
Deathloop

The hour counts seemed WAY off compared to in-game hour counts. Wondering how they counted pausing or having the game on resume.. For example it said I played Horizon for 84 hours but my in game time was something like 55 as I recall. There is no way I put 84 hours into that game. GoWR was also off by about 20 hours.. Weird. It said Deathloop was 28 hours for me and I believe that is accurate or very close if I'm remembering correctly. Strange.

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Games for January 2023 Announced

everynowandben

I know AV2 didn't live up to the original for a lot of people, but I'm still excited to play it and find out for myself. It's been on my wishlist since it came out, so getting it for "free" is definitely means this month is a winner from my perspective.

I played Jedi back when it was on Game Pass, and also own it on PC from when it was free on Origin about a year ago, but won't say no to claiming it on PS5 as well. Hopefully a lot of people play it and then get the sequel when it comes out. I would love to see Jedi become a robust series in the franchise!

Fallout 76 I have access to on Game Pass but I've never been into any Fallout games let alone the "worst" one, so, this one is whatever to me.

Pretty good month overall!

Re: PS Plus Extra Loses 10 PS4 Games in January 2023

I played The Council earlier this year, and I don't regret it exactly, but I wouldn't say you're missing out on anything if you dont play it. I think the skill tree concept works for the genre, but it runs poorly to say the least, and the game itself is just not very good.

I might check out Electronic Super Joy for a minute just for fun before it goes.

Re: The Last of Us Was 'Ahead of Its Time', Sony Wanted 'Definitive Version'

everynowandben

It'd be great of they remade (and maybe even expanded) Uncharted: Golden Abyss. I'd buy that again for sure.

Or The Order 1886 is one that could use a thorough reimagining, but I'm pretty sure that one is dead forever.

Tbh, if they added even 30 minutes of new content to TLOUP1, I would have bought it for $70 day one because I'm an idiot for stuff like that.

Re: The Last of Us Was 'Ahead of Its Time', Sony Wanted 'Definitive Version'

The remaster and remake of Shadow of the Colossus couldn't be played on the same system though, and the remake price at launch was less than the original, not more. It's not a great comparison. If TLOUP1 was $39.99 and the PS5 didn't have backwards compatibility, there would be a lot less people complaining about it's existence. I also don't remember the SOTC remake having an intentionally misleading marketing campaign.
