Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Enjoying a 'Fantastic' Launch on Steam

The estimates aren't really that high, but this is one of those situations where if it sells well people will say it should have been on PC all along and if it sells poorly people will say it's because it wasn't on PC at launch.

From what I can see, Rebirth did pretty well on PS5 to begin with, but Square Enix obviously always has extraordinary expectations.

@AhmadSumadi Not really, no. But it does give us a reference point. So we can certainly conclude that Spider-Man 1 PC had a stronger launch than Spider-Man 2 PC.

Same with God of War vs God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Zero Dawn vs Horizon Forbidden West.

But you're quite right, it's not telling us the full story.

@Drago201 Some of them have been good ports, but it's been very hit or miss for sure.

I agree with @mariomaster96, if Spider-Man 2 wasn't ready to go they didn't have to launch it last week.

The game's already out on console so they could have easily spent a few more months working on the port, and used that time to do a bit more advertising as it seemed to drop out of no where.

As it stands, they've ruined their first impression now.

@HamKnight Yes, but you're projecting that those droughts are going to occur. We know Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, and potentially Marvel's Wolverine are launching this year. Sounds like a strong lineup to me.

Let's wait for the droughts to actually occur before we start worrying about it.

Re: Sony's Stocks Fly As Market Responds to New Corporate Hierarchy

@Atreus97 That's not true. Hulst had a great reputation at Guerrilla which got him the gig in the first place. He's since also signed a deal with Kojima to make a new espionage game and has overseen several first-party hits, including their fastest-selling game ever in Helldivers 2.

Obviously the stuff with Concord was not good and I'm a little sceptical of some of his decisions, but they clearly still have confidence in him.

Re: Xbox Boss Wants to Beat PS6 on Hardware Capabilities, Not Necessarily Games

@LifeGirl I see a lot of people saying this but it just doesn't seem realistic.

If they're opening up their platform to, say, Steam then they're creating an environment where their customers may buy the hardware and never give Microsoft another cent.

That's fine, but consoles are subsidised and affordable because they force you into their own ecosystem. (PS5, for example, requires you to use the PS Store and pay to play online.)

Get rid of that and you're basically looking at a very expensive piece of hardware.
