Re: PS5 Games Won't Support PSVR, Says Sony

starman292

It's annoying that they seem to be pooh-pooing VR all of a sudden, particularly as we got all those leaks showing some really exciting potential PSVR changes. In fact it was one of my reasons for getting a ps5. I will probably hold off getting a ps5 for now as I am playing my PC (which I am just about to upgrade my GPU) and my Nintendo switch way more anyway.

If they announce PSVR 2 next year then I will probably try and get it with a console in a bundle. Honestly the only exclusives I really wanted are Spider-Man (which I am now buying on PS4) ratchet and clank and horizon. There were other games I liked but I'll just pick them up when I finally buy a ps5.

The other thing is if they are planning to release a pro version with closer specs to or better than the xbsx at some point I would rather bite at that. I want to see some really impressive changes to VR when they finally launch it on ps5. I mean it was pretty impressive what they did with the PS4s hardware for the PSVR. So I think VR on the ps5 could be really good. That is of course assuming they make sure good VR controllers and bury the move controllers for all time lol.

@JoeBlogs Well yeah, something needs to push these companies to make more advancements. The issue is lack of real competition and everyone making incremental changes rather than really pushing things. Nvidia and AMD have basically not pushed the boat at all when it comes to GPU advances. Personally I feel graphically the generation differences are getting smaller each time.

If ps5/xbox does something exciting and gets high end games running 4k at a minimum of 60fps with raytracing then yeah that's actually good value and well worth looking into. But more than likely they only care with competing with each other and so we're going to be back to how we were with current gen (until switch mixed things up a bit). I'm not saying I regret buying a ps4 because it's had some really good games. But I found myself wishing some of the exclusive games were on PC just so I could run them better. I've been playing destiny on ps4 for over 4 years, but the moment it came out on PC I wanted to jump because it runs so much better.

So yeah if ps5 gives me a reason to buy it I'll be very happy but at the moment I can't see it happening sadly. In fact the thing besides launch titles that may be a motivating factor for me would be if psvr 2 turns out to be fantastic. They need enough power and optimisation not just to run ray tracing or 4k but to be buttery smooth too. That seems to have gone out the window with consoles recently!

Ps5 is going to have to be very impressive for me to consider buying. There is literally no advantage at the moment for anyone that owns a decent gaming pc. The only way it will be worth it is if they announce some really exciting exclusives. The hardware also needs to be really heavily optimized so at the very least it can get 4k 60fps or 1440 60fps with ray tracing. It's just not going to be worth it for any less than that as for more than likely the same price point or less AMD will be launching their high end GPUs next year. I'd rather just upgrade and not be stuck with a controller.

Re: EA: 'We're Fully Committed to Making More Star Wars Games'

starman292

It's annoying that they cancelled it because of a "change in the market". Meaning they probably saw how much games like fortnite are making and decided we can't really load a single player game with microtransactions so screw it. They even said that they want to make games "that people will keep coming back to". What are the chances they are going to make a game focused on a single player campaign without a money making multiplayer mode now? It's unlikely to happen...

@JoeBlogs
Yep I finally got all the trophies last night, but the challenges and the bases were definitely the hardest in the game so far. Particularly if you like completing all the optional challenges.
I'm probably just dumb but in the new stealth challenges it took me a minute to figure out what she meant by "the motion sensors" it's the spotlights that move and you have to web the lamps to temporarily shut them down. But yeah the new bases and stealth challenges were much harder. The big dudes with the chain guns are a nightmare if you run out of gadgets. Combat and skill challenges I finished first or second time. They have just made the timer shorter I think. But yeah I finished the last dlc in one night no issues. This dlc took me 2 nights of ragequit and then I got pretty much the remaining 70% done last night lol. I think the crimes are easier on this one though and you can complete them faster which IMO was a good thing lol.

Re: Spider-Man PS4 DLC to Give Fans Something Fresh

starman292

@Useyourname

Announcing the dlc before the game was stupid but I thought the game itself was fantastic. Even on how fluid the controls, movement and combat were in the game it sure is not mediocre. But if you didn't like the story then each to their own I guess. I would like to hear what in your opinion is a top rated game?

Re: Detroit: Become Human Will Drop Cyborg Jaws on PS4 Pro

starman292

@Paranoimia @BAMozzy

Ah 24 thanks for that.

But yeah I wasn't saying they can't run smooth, they do run very stable and very smooth. It is just some games feel much better at 60fps. For example a game like Life is strange would not matter if it was 60 or 30. But would you want to play super smash bros at 30? :/

Re: Valve Promises to Start Shipping Games Again

starman292

@Futureshark
Really isn't necessary IMO but updating it to the same as we have on pc would be nice for console players. A portal 3 or dare I say it half life 3 would be awesome. All valve's games are frequently played by PC players so a new entry would make PC fans hit the roof!

Re: ANTHEM Sounds Like It Could Be Make or Break for the Once Great BioWare

starman292

Disney should have just given bioware the rights to make Kotor 3. Would have helped Disney's star wars reputation and as long as EA wasn't involved I'm sure sales would have been through the roof. I hate how some of my favourite developers have been swallowed up by bigger greedier developers and now they just aren't as good. Or possibly aren't allowed to be as good!

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Sturdy, But Utterly Overshadowed by Switch

starman292

It's great, both my ps4 and switch are getting plenty of use at the moment. (I play forza on PC screw xb1 lol). The more sales they make the more games we're going to get! Nintendo are already producing another Zelda game whereas the Wii U got one right at the end of its lifespan and it wasn't even exclusive. Ps4 is doing well and we've had some really good games out of it. The thing that drives me mad about Xbox is they have so many fantastic IPs and they just rely on third party gaming. Bring out a new Banjo, perfect dark, conker and mechassault then I would happily purchase one. I'll stick to ps4 and switch for now as they both deserve the success they are getting.

Re: Oh FFS, There's a Loot Cave in Destiny 2

starman292

@BAMozzy
You don't have to do the whole lost sector again. Basically when you finish it and open the chest a door that leads back to the outside opens. So we what you do is run through the entrance get to the end of the corridor where it changes locations, run back and the location will change back to the weep and the chest will respawn. It takes about 15 seconds so if you rinse and repeat your getting about 12 faction tokens a minute.

Re: Review: Amnesia: Collection (PS4)

starman292

I've played amnesia the dark descent and a machine for pigs on pc. Both games made me realize/confirm I am not good with scary games lol. I'll download it and consider trying soma XD. The sound is amazing on these games I still remember the extreme feeling of paranoia in the first game from repeatedly hearing footsteps behind me slowly getting closer. That was like right in the beginning of the game too :/. For best results play in the dark with some decent headphones

Re: Poll: Are You Enjoying Destiny 2?

starman292

I like it about the same as Destiny 1 and I played the crap out of destiny 1 lol. The mapping and public events system is MILES better. Gameplay is similar but a lot of new little twists that improve the overall experience. One thing I would say is don't judge by the beta. It has been vastly balanced and improved since then. I can't wait for the raid next week!
