I played the demo or beta or whatever it was... and flying around was fun, but you can only fly for like 6 seconds. I thought there was going to be some exploration aspect to it. You gotta land and treat the game like Destiny, a repetitive shooter with the same enemies everywhere. Its online (only, i think) too, so I rarely felt any progression and the story is all on the side... its basically Mass Effect minus all the parts that made it a good game.
As someone who was truly excited for this game... I'm so disappointed and not planning on picking it up at all.
I traded my XBOX One in last year for a PS4 since the only exclusives I played on it were the Forza games... which I can now just play on my laptop (got a laptop with a 1050 for video editing and game development a while back, just a bonus being able to play Forza on it). Microsoft really needs to make use of the other IP's they own, like Fable, Banjo-Kazooie, and Conker. I'd even love to see another Perfect Dark that focuses on local multiplayer!
Awesome. I'm not a huge fan of the series but I picked up Dimensions on the 3DS and 5+ on the VITA. Both very good fighters, especially for portables. Very few fighters on the systems had as good online, as good visuals, or simple controls to masters. Will definitely download the demo to see how it is!
I might just pull the trigger on Spyro. I usually go physical with my games but it apparently only has the first game on the disc. Would be nice to just have it always on my system and, hopefully, all 3 games will be on a cartridge if it comes to Switch.
I've been tempted with purchasing Wipeout for a while now. Love the demo and it looks beautiful in 4K HDR. Might pull the trigger tonight since it's yet again only $6.
I've played through about half of the game so far and it's really good. The beginning is way more story focused than the previous two games, which sounds good but it took a bit away from the gameplay with little combat, slow traveling, and a ton of dialog. However, it doesn't last too long and before you know, it feels just like the previous entries just with sharper visuals and better lighting. Definitely worth trying the demo and picking up for $30 or cheaper.
I done goofed and didn't buy PS Plus when it was $40 last week. I bought too many other things for myself and other people that I just completely forgot to. I'll just wait for another sale, pretty much most of the games I'm playing are single-player anyways.
Got this game for $20 last week with Black Friday deals and rewards points. Still haven't played it yet as I have a lot of projects due and finals over the next week, plus a big gaming backlog when I finally do get more free time. Glad to hear these updates and patches will be implemented by the time I get around to playing it.
This is why I never buy games at full price unless it's from a developer known for never dropping in cost, such as Nintendo or Rockstar. Most of the time you can wait 1-6 months (depending on the title) and save at least 50%. And waiting is never too bad since I always have a huge backlog!
Throughout the past week you could have picked up the 1TB PS4 with Spider-Man for $200. Then Uncharted 4 for $15, God of War for $17-$25, Gran Turismo Sport for $20, and an entire year of PS4 Plus $40... all for well under $300 total.
My guess is the PS5 will release early or mid 2020. Architecture will be similar to the PS4, just stronger, so that it can play all old titles but also handle more powerful exclusives (backwards compatibility doesn't bother me as I'm not getting rid of my Spider-Man Pro but I think they'll try to support it). We won't see a ton of PS4 exclusives next year but that'll be to prepare for the PS5's launch lineup the following year. Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 will be marketed as one of the big PS5 games of 2020.
Definitely a lot of good deals out right now, especially for Samsung televisions. I got the 55" TCL 6-series last month for $550 and have no regrets. Brightness gets greatly high and colors pop on most of my PS4 games, especially Spider-Man and Wipeout.
If anyone is looking for solid 4K HDR performance, I highly recommend getting at least a mid-range television with relatively high brightness and a wide color-gamut. That way you'll notice the biggest upgrade from an older set.
Looking forward to receiving God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn in the mail to see how they look on the Pro!
Cool, didn't pick this game up yet since it isn't on sale anywhere but I'll probably get it sometime late December or January with holiday cash. Hopefully online is fully fleshed out by then.
I'm not bothered, I suppose. E3 2018 was pretty meh for all companies. They'll probably hype up games like the Last of Us 2 throughout the year and sprinkle in one or two announcements. They will also probably have their own conference later in 2019/early 2020 to announce the PS5 and some new titles for that.
Will be weird to only have Microsoft presenting at E3 now in terms of the big 3. At least Nintendo still has those Directs.
Hmmmm... I'm debating on whether I should pick up Shadow of the Tomb Raider now for $30 digitally or wait until Black Friday to get it for $24 (20% off with Google Express) and physical. Will probably just wait.
Wow. Throw back to my childhood. I remember loving these kind of double packs as a kid. I have 3 GBA cartridges that are double packs featuring Crash and Spyro games. Very neat to see them bring them back in some form!
I won't be picking up anything this month as I've spent more money than I should have recently. Finally bought my first PS4 last month (Spider-Man PS4 Pro edition) and just got my first 4K HDR television yesterday. Needless to say I have no more money to spend for a while now!
I will absolutely be picking up Spryo at some point, though. Just no idea when lol.
Sad to hear it's average but since the deluxe edition came free with my console I'll be downloading it anyway. Will wait until I pick up my new TV to play it in glorious 4K HDR. Loved the main game so I'm sure I'll still enjoy this extra story.
As most others, I don't think they have a place. I WANT them to have a place, but they simply don't. I feel like every major gaming magazine ends up selling out eventually these days and the market is so niche now. I remember growing up with years of Nintendo Power magazines... but now, I don't see why I'd subscribe to a magazine with YouTube and news websites. Having the physical media was cool, but being able to get daily updates on everything and discuss opinions with people in comment sections is way better.
I'm almost done the game now. It's amazing. I'll most likely be making the jump to a 4K HDR television this holiday season so the new game plus might be started when I get that. Can't wait to see how these games look with higher brightness, HDR, and 4K!
Awesome. The name I made when I was an immature kid in middle school can finally be changed without losing all my progress. Even better, itll be free. Thank you, Sony!
I'm basically expecting the PS5 to be like the PS4 Pro, just more of a leap in power and with some exclusive titles. It's working with the Pro, and as long as the architecture allows for more power, I don't see why they would stop.
Awesome to hear. I remember starting with 3 and not enjoying it much. Got 4 due to the publicity and loved it. Unity was meh. But then Syndicate was really good. Glad they took a year off for the series because it seems they really learned how to vary the design of the games, create more unique settings, and make better open worlds. Will be picking up Origins soon and Odyssey not long after!
I wouldn't say Sony was dumb as they didn't need to business-wise. But it's nice that they did it regardless, stirs up positive publicity and us consumers benefit. It's not something I'm going to use a lot but it'll be appreciated when I do.
I loved playing the original on my family's old PS2 via backwards compatibility. Also enjoyed a coupe of the GBA versions which were handled by different developers. I have a soft spot for 3D platformers and collect-a-thons so I'm very hyped for this. Wish it was on PC but at least I finally own a PS4 now!
I'm actually pretty excited for this game. Gameplay looks great and I feel like Mass Effect Andramada was just one misstep. I'm not sure if I'll pick this up on PS4 or wait until I build my gaming PC late next year to play it, but regardless I'm excited!
Such a shame. Transformed was truly a gem of its time, and in my opinion, the only kart racer that was as good (if not better) than Mario Kart. Everytime I see Team Sonic Racing, it just seems like a step back in nearly every way, and this article supports that.
Maybe I'll pick the game up when it gets cheaper if reviews and fans say it's good, but I'm steering away from this entry currently.
It's an awesome game that I unfortunately haven't been able to put much time into. This week has been a bit hectic with school and personal stuff, not mention I have a ton of other games I want to beat. I wish I had more time to game but I'm hoping to put more time into it Tuesday night!
@SilentJ Yep, that's what I was thinking. Mine as well just order it, if I truly regret it I can return it or sell it online... but I'm pretty sure I'm just going to keep it. Believe it or not, this is my first PS4. Been meaning to buy one for a while now but as a college student, other expenses just kept coming up. Glad I finally have the system secured and I'm hoping to pick up a 4K HDR TV for the holidays! Spider-man and Gravity Rush 2 should be a blast among others!
I'm very upset I didn't pre-order it when I could have. Literally had it in the pre-order in the cart and back out... then 30 minutes later it went out of stock. Curse my indecisiveness.
With the Switch performing so well and essentially being a traditional system when used in handheld mode, it'll be difficult for Sony to jump back into the portable scene. Nintendo created what is basically a VITA version 2, so I'd imagine Sony will either try to make a portable, lower-end PS4 of some sorts or make a very budget-friendly system with no gimmicks. The Switch costs $300... what if Sony made a smaller portable with only the basics for ~$150?
@get2sammyb It definitely seems like it, which I'm fine with. I just heard some mediocre things about the controls with this title. I'll probably give one of the older entries a go if I can find it on sale!

That would be neat. Never played CTR but I enjoyed Nitro Kart. I'd consider getting it and it would be cool if they put online play in it.
