Re: You Can Now Play the Beginning of Shadow of the Tomb Raider for Free on PS4

Altaria_97

I've played through about half of the game so far and it's really good. The beginning is way more story focused than the previous two games, which sounds good but it took a bit away from the gameplay with little combat, slow traveling, and a ton of dialog. However, it doesn't last too long and before you know, it feels just like the previous entries just with sharper visuals and better lighting. Definitely worth trying the demo and picking up for $30 or cheaper.

Re: PlayStation Plus December 2018 Games Announced

Altaria_97

I done goofed and didn't buy PS Plus when it was $40 last week. I bought too many other things for myself and other people that I just completely forgot to. I'll just wait for another sale, pretty much most of the games I'm playing are single-player anyways.

Re: Battlefield V Half-Price Less Than a Week After Launch

Altaria_97

This is why I never buy games at full price unless it's from a developer known for never dropping in cost, such as Nintendo or Rockstar. Most of the time you can wait 1-6 months (depending on the title) and save at least 50%. And waiting is never too bad since I always have a huge backlog!

Re: Guide: All PS5 Games Confirmed or Rumoured

Altaria_97

My guess is the PS5 will release early or mid 2020. Architecture will be similar to the PS4, just stronger, so that it can play all old titles but also handle more powerful exclusives (backwards compatibility doesn't bother me as I'm not getting rid of my Spider-Man Pro but I think they'll try to support it). We won't see a ton of PS4 exclusives next year but that'll be to prepare for the PS5's launch lineup the following year. Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 will be marketed as one of the big PS5 games of 2020.

Guessing is fun.

Re: Guide: Best Black Friday 2018 4K TV Deals for PS4 Pro

Altaria_97

Definitely a lot of good deals out right now, especially for Samsung televisions. I got the 55" TCL 6-series last month for $550 and have no regrets. Brightness gets greatly high and colors pop on most of my PS4 games, especially Spider-Man and Wipeout.

If anyone is looking for solid 4K HDR performance, I highly recommend getting at least a mid-range television with relatively high brightness and a wide color-gamut. That way you'll notice the biggest upgrade from an older set.

Looking forward to receiving God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn in the mail to see how they look on the Pro!

Re: Reaction: Sony's Decision to Skip E3 2019 Is Confounding, But One We Can't Judge Yet

Altaria_97

I'm not bothered, I suppose. E3 2018 was pretty meh for all companies. They'll probably hype up games like the Last of Us 2 throughout the year and sprinkle in one or two announcements. They will also probably have their own conference later in 2019/early 2020 to announce the PS5 and some new titles for that.

Will be weird to only have Microsoft presenting at E3 now in terms of the big 3. At least Nintendo still has those Directs.

Re: Guide: New PS4 Games Releasing in November 2018

Altaria_97

I won't be picking up anything this month as I've spent more money than I should have recently. Finally bought my first PS4 last month (Spider-Man PS4 Pro edition) and just got my first 4K HDR television yesterday. Needless to say I have no more money to spend for a while now!

I will absolutely be picking up Spryo at some point, though. Just no idea when lol.

Re: Poll: Are You a Fan of Gaming Magazines?

Altaria_97

As most others, I don't think they have a place. I WANT them to have a place, but they simply don't. I feel like every major gaming magazine ends up selling out eventually these days and the market is so niche now. I remember growing up with years of Nintendo Power magazines... but now, I don't see why I'd subscribe to a magazine with YouTube and news websites. Having the physical media was cool, but being able to get daily updates on everything and discuss opinions with people in comment sections is way better.

Re: Spider-Man PS4 New Game Plus Coming 'Super Soon'

Altaria_97

I'm almost done the game now. It's amazing. I'll most likely be making the jump to a 4K HDR television this holiday season so the new game plus might be started when I get that. Can't wait to see how these games look with higher brightness, HDR, and 4K!

Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Odyssey - A Masterclass in Open World Design

Altaria_97

Awesome to hear. I remember starting with 3 and not enjoying it much. Got 4 due to the publicity and loved it. Unity was meh. But then Syndicate was really good. Glad they took a year off for the series because it seems they really learned how to vary the design of the games, create more unique settings, and make better open worlds. Will be picking up Origins soon and Odyssey not long after!

Re: Hands On: Team Sonic Racing Takes a Tailspin on PS4

Altaria_97

Such a shame. Transformed was truly a gem of its time, and in my opinion, the only kart racer that was as good (if not better) than Mario Kart. Everytime I see Team Sonic Racing, it just seems like a step back in nearly every way, and this article supports that.

Maybe I'll pick the game up when it gets cheaper if reviews and fans say it's good, but I'm steering away from this entry currently.

Re: Spider-Man Limited Edition PS4 High Res Photographs are Pure Console Porn

Altaria_97

@SilentJ Yep, that's what I was thinking. Mine as well just order it, if I truly regret it I can return it or sell it online... but I'm pretty sure I'm just going to keep it. Believe it or not, this is my first PS4. Been meaning to buy one for a while now but as a college student, other expenses just kept coming up. Glad I finally have the system secured and I'm hoping to pick up a 4K HDR TV for the holidays! Spider-man and Gravity Rush 2 should be a blast among others!

Re: Sony: We're Exploring What Our Customers Want from Portable Gaming

Altaria_97

With the Switch performing so well and essentially being a traditional system when used in handheld mode, it'll be difficult for Sony to jump back into the portable scene. Nintendo created what is basically a VITA version 2, so I'd imagine Sony will either try to make a portable, lower-end PS4 of some sorts or make a very budget-friendly system with no gimmicks. The Switch costs $300... what if Sony made a smaller portable with only the basics for ~$150?

Re: The Golf Club 2019 Tees Up Official PGA Tour Licence

Altaria_97

@zeppray Agreed, Rory Mcilroy's PGA Tour was pretty lackluster to me. I haven't played either of the Golf Club games but I've heard mixed things about them. Would you say they're worth checking out for someone who tends to enjoy golf games such as Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf? I also used to have Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on the Wii and loved that due to the Wii motion plus controls, but I haven't played much outside of that.

Re: Soapbox: PS Vita's Longevity Has Been Quite Remarkable

Altaria_97

I haven't touched it much recently, but every now and then I'll get the urge to restart a game. I actually got Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz a few weeks ago on Humble for a mere $1. I haven't liked any of the Monkey Ball games after Super Monkey Ball 2 but this one is actually pretty solid. While I don't play it as much anymore, I still love my VITA and want to collect a few more games for it. Long live the VITA!

Re: PS5 Won't Be at E3 2018, Sony Unsurprisingly Confirms

Altaria_97

@Turismo4GT Thanks, I’m super excited to finally get one. I’m pretty much just waiting for it to go on sale or drop in price. I know Sony just said they won’t have any new hardware, but who knows, maybe they’ll pull out a new PS4 slim or something.

Funny enough, I have a VITA and not a PS3! I’m really looking forward to playing a ton of exclusives, like Gravity Rush, it’s sequel, all 4 Uncharted titles, The Last of Us, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn, the new Spider-Man... and that’s just scratching the surface! I’m definitely excited!

Re: PS5 Won't Be at E3 2018, Sony Unsurprisingly Confirms

Altaria_97

@Turismo4GT I don’t even have a PS4 yet! I got an XBOX One back in 2014 over the PS4 due to Forza and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Obviously the PS4 has much more and stronger exclusives now. With college costs and constraints, I just haven’t gotten around to picking one up yet.

I was planning on picking up a PS4 last year but my family surprised me with a Switch for my birthday then I had to replace my laptop. This year will probably be the year I pick one up since I traded in my XBOX One last month!
