This is going to be the busiest holiday season for me. Basically from tomorrow til the 29th I’ll have nearly zero personal time, and when I do it’ll be working lol. The second the 29th hits I’m gonna mostly be chilling at home and gaming for the next few days. I love being around people but I’m gonna need that personal time to relax and tackle my backlog some more!
I hate being that guy but this article is pure clickbait. The title implies that they’re not supporting the game at all anymore, aka, shutting the game down. Yet in the article you say they’re just stopping development for seasons and they’re still supporting the servers and online infrastructure.
The only time I ever watch someone play a game is when I’m over my brother’s place and he’s in the middle of a single player game. I think watching streams is super boring and I could never get into it.
That said, I do listen to some YouTubers that talk about games as “talking head” videos while I clean, drive, or work. Basically treat them like a podcast.
Glad to hear this. Sometimes DLC can be worth it but more often I’d prefer the devs to focus on the next entry. Hopefully the wait for Part 3 won’t be too long.
I was actually happy to hear that Spider-Man 2 wasn’t getting DLC. I thought the DLC for the first game was mediocre and I’d rather them focus their work on Wolverine, Venom, Spider-Man 3, etc.
It has a 70 flat on metacritic. From what I’ve read it seems alright. My backlog is already humongous so I’ll probably wait to get it until it’s $20 or so.
Cool they added the option but imo it just makes it look super cartoony. But I’m also someone who’s never played these games so I don’t have nostalgia for the original visuals at all.
It’s a really cool looking system but just not personally worth it for me. Most games already look great to me in performance mode since I’m not super close to my TV. The few games that do look a little muddy (like Rebirth) aren’t much of a problem as my TV has a pretty good sharpening effect.
I’m happy with my current PS5 but I hope those getting the Pro have a good time with it. It’s always exciting when new hardware releases!
I remember playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on my Wii U back in the day. I liked it a lot and eventually got the 3DS version when it went on sale. Only played a little bit of Rise with a friend for a short bit before he just put the game down.
All that said, the little I played of this was fun but I’d rather just go back and play Rise or even 3 Ultimate for nostalgia. Maybe I’ll pick this up later next year when it’s cheaper… Monster Hunter games are just too big for me to play through completely lol.
The improved colors and lighting actually make a huge difference. The darker red hue of the original made the game look worse imo. That, among the other improvements, make this a must-buy for $10.
Now I just have to decide between PC or PS5. I recently moved my PC to my living room TV so I’m leaning toward that… the classic adult situation of having the money for games but not the time lmao
I actually wasn’t a huge fan of the DLC story content from the first game. I’d rather them focus on another grand story with whatever comes next (Wolverine, Venom, etc.). So I guess I’m one of the few people that sees this as good news.
If they had the indigo cover for the OG PS5 I’d consider biting. The controller is really nice too but I just got my Astro Bot controller lol. I bought the Astro controller then they revealed the anniversary controller and this. They’ve been cooking.
I love how the comment section here answered the question immediately, yet the heads of Microsoft that only understand corporate mumbo jumbo need years of investigating to still not know lol.
Nah, not interested. It’s a cool product but I’m more than happy with my current PS5. I’ve actually been trying to downsize my collection a bit so I’m fine with waiting for the next big generational leap that’s hopefully more reasonably priced.
They didn’t mention anything about the lighting or colors but they seem way more realistic here. I was kinda bummed about the rumors of the remaster but seeing it now… it’s definitely worth $10. Will be playing it this Halloween, I suppose!
Crazy how such a trivial and minor inconvenience has turned into a bloodbath online. We have it too well these days if these are the things that bother us. Crazy times.
I’m happy with my Spider-Man PS5, matching controller, and Astro Bot controller that just came in. I’m good on PlayStation hardware until the inevitable PS6. I do think all this looks really cool, though.
It’ll do well. I don’t think it’ll get close to PS4 Pro numbers but I don’t think PlayStation is expecting that. My guess is they’ll get larger profit margins off this model, especially for those who get the disc drive add-on. Just a guess tho.
Played it today before the football game and it’s incredible so far. I expected it’d review well, but I didn’t expect it to be the highest rated game of the year (other than the Elden Ring expansion). Stoked to play more!
It looks so clean! My game came today but the controller just says it’s still processing the order… so much for pre-ordering within the first 30 minutes possible lol. No big deal tho, it’ll get here when it gets here. In the meantime, the game is amazing!
Kinda crazy to me how a 77 on metacritic is seen as “just okay” these days. Not saying it looks amazing but there’s really only one negative review from Eurogamer and everything else is, for the most part, around the 7-9 range.
I know the article goes into a bit more detail on the criticisms but it seems like a mostly well received game to me lol.
I know it’s part of the idea that the controller is a robot but the eyes just seem really off putting. Shame because I love the rest of the design. Wish the touchpad just had Astro’s face or some symbol.
If they release the controller that Astro Bot uses in that demo as a special edition, I’d definitely snag that as I need a second dualsense. I’d even consider getting a console cover of it, too.
Never played them (unless you consider Monster Hunter) but I have had Elden Ring and Hollow Knight in my backlog for a while now, along with wanting to try Another Crab’s Treasure on gamepass. We’ll see if I like em lol.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with Stellar Blade behind it. Helldivers is a lot fun but I’m still shocked how much people have it as their game of the year. I thought it got repetitive after a few hours.
I got the game when all my buddies did and although I had fun with it for a good 8 hours or so, it is super repetitive. Not enough enemy, gameplay, or mission variety for a live service game… especially one you need to pay for. It’s a good game but I never thought it was something to write home about.
My picks are Astro Bot, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Star Wars Outlaws, and The Plucky Squire. There are a few other games I’m keeping an eye on but there really isn’t a fifth game that I’m excited for that’s on PlayStation. Which isn’t a problem, I have other systems and my trusty backlog lol.
The second half of the year is starting to look good. Astro Bot, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Star Wars Outlaws, and Indiana Jones (Xbox) are the big games for me. I might even give Black Ops 6 a go since it’ll be on GamePass.
But it’s looking good for the PS5. Glad more creative and silly fun titles like Astro Bot and LEGO Horizon Adventures get time to shine this fall.
Cool that it’s coming to Switch. I’ll be picking up a PS5 copy for myself. Sony may not have any “big story” games this fall/holiday, but Lego Horizons and Astro Bot are all I need. I love me some silly fun and creative games like these.
I completely forgot Project 007 was a thing. Hopefully we see it this month, I loved the 007 games from the late 90’s and early 2000’s back in the day.
This is all I need from PlayStation for the rest of the year. I love 3D platformers and games that focus on silly, creative fun. This is bursting with all of that. I’m stoked.
I love my Series X but the Hellblade games are basically slightly interactive movies with really slow pacing. They’re technical marvels but not a whole lot of fun imo once you get past the visual wow-factor.
PS5-only owners aren’t really missing out. Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are way more enjoyable games to me.
Reading the comments on all these sites has been rather interesting. My only gripe with Yasuke is his play style. My favorite parts of Assassin’s Creed are the parkour, stealth, and assassinations. But we have the other protagonist for that, so I’ll just wait for the gameplay reveal. Looks interesting, though.
@MrBook Maybe every game I get just has an update that isn’t required but they’re pretty large. That being said, I do remember my copies of Avatar and CyberPunk came with 2 discs… although my CyberPunk copy is for XBOX One so it doesn’t have the Series X data on disc lol.
Don’t most (not all, but most) games come like this nowadays? And even if you can “technically” play them without an update, you’re missing so much content that it’s basically a beta?
I think other than a few Nintendo titles like Mario Wonder, there’s usually a fat patch waiting for me when I put in a cartridge or disc for the first time nowadays.
Not saying I support this stuff but I don’t really see how this is a surprise at all.
@trev666 Exactly this. There are too many live service games that are meant to be played forever. Single player games don’t have this problem since you beat the campaign, maybe do some side or post game content, then move onto the next game.
Some can be successful like Helldivers, but they’re very few and between these days since the live service space is so oversaurated.
@Yorozayu Agreed. If it wasn’t selling well, the game would’ve been on sale or dropped in price. After nearly 2 months, I don’t think I’ve seen any price decrease or sale. It’s clearly selling well, even if not as well as Square or news outlets expected.
I haven’t been into Assassins Creed in a while, but a more open, current gen game in Feudal Japan, a remake of Black Flag, and a more traditional title with supernatural abilities… it all seems pretty interesting. Looking forward to hearing more about these projects.
Seems like it’s potentially a lot more powerful than I was expecting. Still sticking with my current Spider-Man PS5 that I got last October, though. Games still look great on it. I’d only consider upgrading if I could get it dirt cheap with a trade-in, which I doubt would be an option.

Re: Big New PS5, PC Shooter Concord Has an Uphill Battle Ahead of It
