Re: Rumour: Sea of Thieves Might Be One More Xbox Game Coming to PS5

Altaria_97

@XenonKnight As someone that loves a lot of Microsoft’s exclusives… I gotta agree. Sea of Thieves was nothing but a slow paced game around a barren world with boring combat. I was surprised to see so much hype around at the time. I stopped playing after a few hours and my friends that got me to play it stopped shortly after.

Re: Push Square Readers' 20 Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2024

Altaria_97

There’s not a whole lot I’m looking forward to this year but that just makes this a backlog year, which I’m cool with. I’m sure more games I’m interested in will be announced, anyway.

Here is what I’m looking forward to:

  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (PS5)
  • Star Wars Outlaws (PS5/XSX)
  • Shantae Advance (PS5/XSX)
  • Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (Switch)
  • Paper Mario TTYD (Switch)

There are a few other titles I’m keeping an eye on but those 5 titles are all I'm really excited for lol.

Bring on the announcements!

Re: Talking Point: As PS5 Turns 3, How Are You Feeling About It?

Altaria_97

It’s been very good. Now that I'm older, I have the luxury of owning every game console but less time to game. And now that gaming is bigger than ever, there are more games to play than ever before.

Taking all that in to account, this has been a great new generation for me. The PS5 exclusives have been great. They look and play awesome on my TV set. This could all be because of the whole “more games, less time” thing, but it’s been a fun ride for me. Great console.

Re: Suicide Squad Backlash Doesn't Stop Warner Bros from Doubling Down on Live-Service Games

Insert GIF of the Joker saying “You get what you f$cking deserve”

Seriously, chasing a sailing ship that no one wants to be on anymore. What a shameful business practice and worst of all, the devs will probably pay the price and not the executives making the crappy decisions.

The world of game development seems scary with these terrible practices and consistent layoffs.

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

Altaria_97

Super excited. But I’m leaving for vacation to visit some friends the night it comes out and will be gone til Tuesday. So the earliest I will play it is Tuesday night after work.

I’m trying to forget the game exists until that Tuesday lol

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Assassin's Creed Mirage?

Altaria_97

I’ll snag it once it hits the $20-$30 mark. I like the more condensed and assassin focused games over the “open-world RPG” fluff of the newer titles. So yeah, this seems up my ally. Just not for $50 with all the other blockbuster releases coming out now.

Re: Chequered Flag for Gran Turismo Sport as Online Services Shut Down in January 2024

Altaria_97

Yup, I waited til I could get GT Sport for $10 knowing this. The game will effectively be a demo once the servers go down.

I didn’t buy GT7 for this exact reason and I don’t plan on it unless it dips to that $10 price point. I dont usually complain about the “all digital future”, but this online-only single player stuff effectively kills games.

Only reason I’m getting Forza MororSport right away is because it’s on GamePass and I’m already subscribed to that.

Bad move from Sony imo.

Re: There's Something Weird Going on with Titanfall 2 Right Now

Altaria_97

Bungie went on to make an open-world RPG with Destiny. Battlefield got slammed. And a lot of people are stepping away from CoD after MW2 shoved ads and micro-transactions down people’s throats (and are releasing MW3 this year when they said that wasn’t the original plan). I also know a lot of people that are getting burnt out of Fortnite and other battle royale shooters.

All that said, I think now might be a good time to capitalize on those things and release a traditional multiplayer shooter with little-to-no ads/micro-transactions. There’s a reason why BattleBit got as popular as it did.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Mortal Kombat 1?

Altaria_97

Never cared about Mortal Kombat but that’s also because I’m not much into fighting games. Smash Bros is the only fighting series I could ever get into and that’s more because it’s a fun party game, but even that everyone takes to competitively nowadays.

If I were to try and get into a fighting game anytime soon, it would easily be Street Fighter 6. I enjoyed IV on my 3DS back as a launch title. Plus Street Fighter a little more silly and cartoony.

But I’ve been hearing good things about Mortal Kombat 1 so I hope everyone that gets it enjoys it!

Re: Looks Like One of PS5's Best Games Is Getting a Complete Edition

Altaria_97

@Shepherd_Tallon Same here. I’m shocked how most people I see online say this generation is lacking. I’ve been having a ton of fun. Games look amazing, run well, and feel great.

There are obviously some stinkers in there but for the most part this is one of my favorite generations for all platforms. The visuals are blowing me away and I think the games are just super fun. Maybe I’m just getting older but whatever lol ¯(ツ)

Re: Red Dead Redemption PS4 Announcement Gets Slaughtered by Fans

Altaria_97

@Dark_Knight They did unlock the frame rate for a handful of PS4 games on PS5 (Racthet and Clank, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.) but I agree, Bloodborne seems like such an obvious choice to give a 60fps update.

I feel like they’re just sitting on a remaster to sell to us for $70 lol.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Muting Your PS5's Beep?

Altaria_97

The only thing on a game console I ever muted is the XBOX Series X startup noise (not the beep but the actual sound from the TV). For some reason, Microsoft decided to make the startup noise 500% louder than all other sounds. Even at 8% tv volume it would explode my speakers and destroy my eardrums.

If there was an option to lower it, I would have. But it was either mute, or have it shatter my windows. The console beeps I don’t mind but that’s cause I live alone lol.

Re: Exoprimal (PS5) - One of the Most Promising Online Co-Op Shooters in Eons

Altaria_97

I played it on my brother’s Xbox with GamePass and it was pretty fun, albeit in short spurts due to the repetitive nature of it. Don’t think I see myself playing it outside of a few quick games.

I didn’t do any research on the game before playing so I thought it was going to have a co-op story and a horde mode. But no, it seems to be this weird “kill as many Dino’s as possible and then kill your enemy”… which just felt weird in a game where there are rifts of endless dinosaurs opening up for you to shoot.

It feels like the idea is silly fun but in execution it’s just a generic, more repetitive team shooter.

Re: Poll: How Hyped Are You for the PlayStation Showcase?

Altaria_97

I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure if I'll watch it live, though. It's on at 4pm where I'm at so if I have to work late, then I'll put it on in the background. But if not, I'll probably go for a run or hike after work since it's finally getting warm (and not rainy) out in my area. So I'll probably just skim through it Wednesday night.

Re: Xbox Boss Admits Microsoft Can't 'Outconsole' PS5

Altaria_97

Wow. I love my XBOX Series X and yet this is one of the dumbest quotes I’ve ever read. To say that great games won’t sell consoles is just lying to yourself.

Look at the Wii U. It was underpowered, yes, but it lacking third-party support and having more simplistic, less ambitious first-party titles is what caused it to sell poorly.

The Switch is even MORE underpowered to the competition than the Wii U and it’s selling like hotcakes. Why? I don’t know, maybe… great, ambitious games that people want to play?

He had to have just goofed and said something dumb on the spot cause I can’t fathom how someone who pays even a bit of attention to the console market could think what he said.

Re: The Excellent EA Sports PGA Tour Adds Classic Three-Click Swing on PS5

Altaria_97

Sweet. I bought Mario Golf Super Rush recently and man, it’s mediocre compared to the N64, GC, and 3DS entries. It’s not bad but the altered mechanics just make the game less fun.

This might be my go-to golf game now that it has 3-click button controls. Plus the option to make the game faster paced is a huge plus as the game felt a bit slow before. I have to say, they’re doing a good job of fixing the game’s issues.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy God of War Ragnarok?

Altaria_97

I’m one of the few people here who hasn’t upgraded to a PS5 yet so I’ll be playing it on my PS4 Pro. I’ll pick it up once it gets discounted as I have a lot of games I’m currently playing though but I’m really excited to try it!
