Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Suddenly Appears on PS5, PS4

Ashina

Tried playing it and too bad that it's F2P. I might keep playing for a while and then go back to Legacy of the Duelists. Hope we get a decent YGO game similar to the Tag Force games from the PSP era. Really love the story modes and some of the unique characters you meet in those games.

Re: Poll: Would You Still Buy PlayStation Consoles Without Activision Blizzard Games?

Ashina

I don't remember anything Activision-Blizzard related games that made me want to go buy a specific console so the answer is obviously yes, I'd still buy a PS console. In fact, I don't know of anything Activision-Blizzard games that I enjoyed. I mean, there's the N.Sane trilogy but I see them as part of the PS legacy more than anything relating to ActiBlizz. There's a lot of better games out there that are worth playing than anything they made in recent years.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

Ashina

@Rob_230 If only Sony can go back to their roots and be a Japanese company again but that's wishful thinking (at this time at least). Anyway, Nintendo is dominating the Japanese market and MS will have a higher chance of dominating the west with these acquisitions. Sony might want to make a move soon though I'm positive that by the time they announce their next line of games, it will be just as big as this announcement. Sony already have their strong devs and all they need is to focus on fleshing out their IP

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

Ashina

We live in fear of gaming studios being monopolized little by little. Thank God for indie devs. They are our saving grace in modern day gaming

@Badheelman Last thing Nintendo and Sony wanted is to be at each other's side. You can have Nintendo/Microsoft and Sony/Microsoft partnership but never Nintendo/Sony.

Re: Xbox Now Owns Legendary PlayStation Series Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon

Ashina

I guess this is my only take on this recent acquisition. The fact that Crash and Spyro, two beloved Playstation mascots, are now owned by Microsoft. Of course, being a mascot of PS hasn't been a thing for both character for years now but still, as someone who grew up in the PS1 era of gaming, I've always incorporated these two with the PS brand. Sony really needs to keep their IPs intact.

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

Ashina

@Sunzy98 Yeah, in a way, Sony's recent acquisition made more sense as they build relationship with them first and then acquire them once a stronger relationship has been established on both parties. At least at the time they acquire them, it wasn't when they were working on major multi-plat games

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

Ashina

@Col_McCafferty Doubt Sony will be the next Sega. The gaming industry is far different from back then and the PS brand of console is already popular enough to stand against MS and Nintendo

@MrSensical doubt Sony has anything that can compete with this acquisition. Best they can do is to iron out the games that they have with their owned IP.

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

Ashina

@MS7000 Yeah, exactly why I don't trust any words spoken by these execs, be it on MS or Sony's side. You hear Phil saying that exclusivity hurts the gaming industry and the next day, you see them acquiring studios to boost their exclusive libraries.

Anyway, so long as they keep their hands off on Fromsoftware, Square Enix, Capcom and any Japanese devs then it's all good. I'd rather that these companies be free of whatever console they want to work with.

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

Ashina

Whatever happened to Phil saying they are "Re-evaluating" their partnership with Activision Blizzard?

Anyway, not the biggest fan of anything Activision-Blizzard made so this acquisition is not a big deal for me. Good luck to Phil Spencer managing this messed of a company tho, I guess.

Re: Talking Point: Did The Game Awards 2021 Live Up to the Hype?

Ashina

Was an okay presentation, nothing really mindblowing or anything. Del Toro trolling about Silent Hill caught me by surprise and was hoping for "something" throughout the show but nothing. FFXIV and Arise winning was good enough for me and that Slitterhead reveal looks interesting. Still no FFXVI announcement tho. Honestly didn't expected the GoTY winner but if people loved it and happy that the game won then good enough.

Re: Feature: Predict The Game Awards 2021 With Our Ridiculous 30 Question Quiz

Ashina

My predictions are FFXVI will have some sort of announcement, Hideo Kojima shows up and just talk about whatever he is doing and maybe an announcement of a PC port of P5R as rumored.

I'm not expecting anything Sony exclusive being announced (aside from FFXVI) and I feel like that is something that will be reserved for a future PS event but who knows, right? Anything is possible but I'm keeping my expectations low for anything Sony exclusive

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2021?

Ashina

Didn't play much of the newer games released this year but the ones I enjoyed are RE Village, Tales of Arise (which I haven't finished yet) and Ender Lillies, which might be a hidden gem of this year since not a lot of people are talking about it but it's such a fantastic metroidvania game.

Re: Best Assassin's Creed Games

Ashina

Unity was so underrated. Yeah it was riddled with bugs and glitches. I remember avoiding it like a plague. I finally gave it a try and honestly, it wasn't so bad, especially once the bugs and glitches were patched out. I mean, the game can still get glitchy at times but for the most part, I enjoyed my playthrough. One thing that I really love about Unity is the parkour, which IMO still has the best one among the franchise.

Re: Jim Ryan: PS5 Generation Will Have More Exclusive Games 'Than Ever Before'

Ashina

More exclusives is good but how about variety? One thing I miss about the PS1 and PS2 era (even PSP and Vita) are the exclusive genres to choose from. Hack n Slash, JRPG, Platformers, etc. The PS4 also did well with the variety but not as extensive as the PS1 and PS2. With the restructuring of Japan Studios and Sony's focus on "blockbuster" hits like TLOU, I fear that the exclusive games for the PS5 will look and feel the same.

Re: Genshin Impact Gets 8 Minutes of 4K, 60FPS Gameplay on PS5

Ashina

Playing Genshin on PS4 but the lag and framerate drop are really an issue. Would love to play this on PS5 in glorious 60FPS.

I got to say, for a F2P game, it's really fun and I haven't even spent a single dime on it yet. It's a good alternative if you are looking for a BoTW like game while waiting for BotW2

Re: Rumour: Multiple Parties Interested in Square Enix Buyout

Ashina

I'm fine with either Sony or Nintendo considering SE's history with them. When I think SE, I always think of JRPG and action RPG (yes they also publish other genre but none of them interested me other than their RPG titles). Usually, if there are exclusive games that SE will make, it's either Playstation or Nintendo. While M$ may have more money to buy them, I just really don't see them clicking together and Xbox was never really known for JRPG games. It's usually Playstation and Nintendo consoles.

Anyway, I still want SE to be an independent company since I don't want any game devs to be under one eco-system just for the sake of monetization. SE is one of my all time favorite game companies out there and I want them to keep supporting multiple consoles.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a PS5 Remake of The Last of Us?

Ashina

Honestly, no. I've played the game during the PS3 era and played the remastered on PS4 but I never spent too much time with it unlike Persona 5, Ghost of Tsushima, FF7 Remake, Bloodborne and Gravity Rush. It may be Sony's AAA powerhouse but I've never really gotten into the hype for this game. Not saying that it's a bad game but I just decided that it's not for me.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Missing Shawn Layden, And He's Liking All the Tweets

Ashina

Not just Shawn Layden, Andrew House and Jack Tretton were also key to the PS4's success. While I understand that it was Microsoft's own fault that XBone failed, both Andrew House and Jack Tretton gave PS4 the boost that made it a powerhouse today. Heck, I even miss Kevin Butler. He may just be paid actor to advertise the PS3 but he was part of the reason that console ended being a success despite its rough start

Re: Poll: Is PlayStation Losing Ground to Xbox?

Ashina

While there are a lot of bad news from Sony lately, I don't think it's as bad as the PS3 era. I chose "Kind of, PlayStation's still on top but Xbox is doing well". Microsoft may have failed the XBone but the Series X is off to a good start. Personally, I don't think that Sony needs a direct response to Game Pass and just do what they were good at, make quality exclusive games. I mean, Nintendo doesn't have their own response to Game Pass but it's doing great this generation despite being in the middle of the newer gen consoles because of their exclusive libraries.

Re: Gravity Rush Character Designer the Latest Departure from Sony's Japan Studio

Ashina

I love Gravity Rush so much. Such an underrated Playstation exclusive. To see the team who worked on this game leaving left and right hurts so bad. Whatever this overhaul better be worth it since I haven't seen anything positive out of this yet.

P.S. - that illustration of Kat is so cute but dang, this could be the last official artwork of my favorite girl

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Success Could Be Key to Yakuza Samurai Games Coming West

Ashina

I'm a big fan of games in any Feudal/Mythical Japan setting and I would love to play this Samurai Yakuza game. Not just Ghost of Tsushima, Nioh and Sekiro are also good games that gained positive reception and are additional reason for this Yakuza game to be localized. Hopefully, we see some future installments for Tenchu and Onimusha as well.
