This was my first Final Fantasy game and while it's not in my top 5, this still holds up as one of the memorable FF game (even though I never managed to complete this back in the days and it did took me years to finally beat)
PS5 Pro aside, and this is a shot in the dark but would love to hear Cerny talk about the success of PS Portal and how they could potentially explore the handheld market again.
@rjejr I don't understand your argument here. What does Nintendo have to do in this? Square is a 3rd party company that has been working with Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft for years.
This isn't about which games are exclusive to PS, but rather to pay homage to the Playstation legacy and the abscence of any SE series, particularly, FFVII is such a confusing decision since it's one of PS's most iconic 3rd party games.
Let's hope Cloud will drop in future DLC but otherwise, definitely a weird decision from Square to not let Cloud or other SE characters considering his Buster Sword was on Astro's Playroom and how iconic FF7 has been in the history of Playstation.
I already got Visions of Mana and Gundam Break 4 and won't be able to afford another game this month so sadly, I'm gonna miss out but I do want to try this in the future. For now, I think I'll settle with Astro's playroom, lol
As for the 2nd question, I'm actually surprised with the positive ratings it's getting but I am happy for Astro Bot. This is the kind of game we need more of and I'm really hoping the success of this game would lead to more platformers from Sony.
Wukong and now Astrobot. FFVII Rebirth really has some tough competion. There's also Echoes of Wisdom on the horizon. Definitely some good GOTY contenders.
GB4 and Visions of Mana both deserve it! Really having great times with both games.
Visions feels like going back to the old times of more traditional action RPG with some great visuals (also, gotta say I don't agree with the "bland" characters, lmao. They've been great so far and Morley instantly became my favorite).
While GB4 is great for its deeper customization compared to previous GB games. Even at early missions, you can already make some decent builds.
Really would be nice to see something about Gravity Rush, Ape Escape and Bloodborne. Really, anything from their legacy titles. Sony really have this unique legacy titles in their pocket but keep pretending they don't exist.
I wasn't planning on getting this game right away but with all the creative builds I've seen so far got me buying the game eventually lol.
Anyway, spot on review (as expected from the "Lightning Baron", lol).
Definitely the best aspect is the build and it's a lot easier to get the parts that you would want.
Combat wise (though this is me saying this while early in-game) but I notice that the missions are a lot shorter and more straight-forward compared to the previous games
So far, I'm enjoying the game and really liking the more creative freedom compared to previous Gundam Breaker games
In a way, this is Sony's karma for ignoring their fans and their legacy titles such as Bloodborne, Ape Escape, Gravity Rush, Killzone, Resistance, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, etc.
Let's hope Astro Bot does well enough that it sparks some hope for Sony to revisit their hidden gem of a games
The 10 people who bought the game can finally be refunded.
With all seriousness, it's better this way and let this be a lesson to Sony for pushing through their live service games. Not saying all of them are bad but there are definitely better ways to handle such games
Despite me loving JRPGs, I've never gotten into the Trails series. This might be a good opportunity for me to do so. I'll get it on the Switch and if I end up loving it, I might double dip (assuming it will come to PS consoles)
I think MGS4 need that remake treatment like MGS3 Delta does just to remove some few nods to the PS3 system itself (e.g. the joke of having to "swap" disc), which I don't think would fit well on modern consoles
I remember playing the first Suikoden game but wasn't into it very much compared to the 2nd game. I'll give it another chance this time around and of course, can't wait to play Suikoden 2 again.
Another day another Bloodborne rumour (what else is new?). But I have to admit, I really wanted for Sony to do something about this IP. Remaster, remake, a sequel or heck, a spiritual successor. Considering how much Sony loves remastering their previous gen titles (even though some of them aren't really that old), it's surprising that they haven't done anything about Bloodborne and it's the game fans have been asking for years more than whatever Sony is throwing our way.
Freakin' finally! This game has remained dormant in PS3 (and the 1st Graces game was on Wii but exclusive to Japan). Glad it's finally getting a modern console port. Hopefully Xillia gets ported as well soon
This is the game i'm anticipating this month and already got mine pre-ordered. Not that those cons swayed me from wanting to get the game but are some interesting points to consider. I'm still excited tbh considering how long it has been since we had a new mainline entry for the Mana series.
I'm excited for some new games to be announced. Hopefully, we see more from Japanese devs since Sony really needs to get back their fair share of the Japanese market after the Switch's dominance. Having MH Wild in there is a smart move considering that's a huge game in Japan.
My least favorite FF game. I just can't stand the characters and bantering in this game. Already tried replaying it several times but I just couldn't last for another hour or two with this game.
Well good luck for those wishing for this to be ported to modern consoles though. Will still be skipping the HD remaster if it ever does
While I enjoy the Souls game that FromSoftware made, outside of those, the only other Souls-like games that I enjoyed so far are Nioh and Lies of P (and maybe Code Vein)
I'm ok with the Souls-like games releasing more often but I do want to see some variety/unique take on the formula
I honestly don't mind silent protagonists. The dialouges spoken and their "personality" depends on the player's choices. tbh, there are times where I get annoyed when certain protagonists have their own personality and you have no control over what they say. That said, even with the graphics evolving, at the end of the day, it really depends on the aesthetics of the game
I got to play Soul Reaver on PS1 back in the days but never got the chance to finish it. I would definitely love to get a chance if this remaster is real!
I really need to get into SRPG more, Unicorn Overlord has been a banger and before that, SD Gundam Crossrays was the last SRPG I've played and then Disgaea 2 was the last game I've completed (and clocked in 200+ hours) but that was years ago on my PSP (Good times)
We really need more games like this and I'm really hoping Square finally announce Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster
Just an FYI but Onimusha 3 also starred a non-Japanese as one of its main character
That aside, at the end of the day, all I care about is how the story will go and how the gameplay works. All I'm hoping for is that this won't end up yet another open-world game that feels empty and have a lot of repetetive quests and filled with microtransaction/loot boxes BS.
Just watched the 10 min. gameplay and well, to me, everything about it just feels very generic open-world mechanics (regardless if it's polished or not). I'm just glad that I wasn't hyped for this and the more reason to skip. But I am more worried about AC: Shadows since that's the one I'm (cautiously) looking forward to.
Interesting to see this taking the Pokémon company route but only time will tell if this will be a massive success as Pokemon but tbh, I doubt it would. It could be a popular franchise but not in the same level as Pokemon, I doubt.
On the flip side, I do want this to be popular enough that it would make Gamefreak step up their game in terms of the quality of the Pokemon games they are making.
Glad Sony is back at TGS. They really need all that Japanese marketing they can get especially with games like Stellar Blade and RoTR doing well. Sony needs to get their Japanese audience back before the inevitable Switch successor
Currently playing the demo and while the gameplay could take some time to get used to (especially when commanding NPCs), I find myself invested in the game. Really liking the Okami collaboration and I think an Onimusha collab would be nice too.
Really depends on the games I play. I do love me some Fromsoftware games and I accept the challenges and I don't really blame the game if it's brutal. The thing about Fromsoft's game is that while they can be difficult, but at the same time they are fair and when I die, it's because of my own failures (whether it being impatient and charging head on straight, being cocky and/or not learning the patterns of certain bosses)
I can say the same for other Souls like game such as Nioh which I also love and I would admit that it will take me a while to beat these kind of games because there are times that I just give up (for a while) and then pick up the game again and continue from where I left off.
In some cases where games have difficulty selection, I tend to just go with "Normal" mode just to enjoy the game but at the same time, have some fair challenges along the way. Though in Resident Evil's case, I really do love me some challenges so for RE2 Remake and RE4 Remakes, I cranked up the difficulties to challenge myself, especially for RE2 Remake where the hard difficulty is the one that has the limited ink ribbon which I welcome as a challenge and as a tribute to the old RE games
Great game. The Eikon battles are still the highlights for me and I just love the characters and Soken doesn't disappoint when it comes to the soundtrack as expected
Hiro Mashima's artstyle never clicks with me tbh and the main characters yet again looking like Natsu and Lucy. Mashima just really have a thing for those two I guess
My childhood! I remember playing X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Vs Capcom with my uncle and cousins back in the PS1 days. So happy we're finally getting a new collection
All we need now are Rival Schools and the Tatsunoko games to be ported on modern consoles as well.
Been playing lots of Souls games for years and I use guides from time to time, especially when I get stuck in an area for hours
Nothing wrong going in blind as well. Did it with Elden Ring at the first few hours. I did eventually used some guides to get the Ranni marriage ending.
It's really up to people on how they wanted to play FS games and don't let others tell you otherwise
This is the kind of game that Sony is lacking nowadays and we need more. Hoping that this game gets successful enough for Sony to greenlight more platformers.

Re: PS5, PC Disaster Concord Is Now Officially Offline Indefinitely
Crazy how a game created in a span of 8 years only lasted for almost 2 weeks while a game created in just 3 years is already a GOTY contender.
Really hoping this new management at Sony would rethink their strategies with their games in the future

Astrobot is the game we need more of, Sony
