Re: Hideo Kojima Reckons There's a Reason Death Stranding Didn't Connect with American Critics

AyanamiReign

I wasn't enjoying Death Stranding so traded it in.
It reminds me of the parts of Red Dead 2 that bored me, slowly travelling from place to place. Felt like it was wasting so much of your time and that's basically all that Death Stranding is. Plus cutscenes and item management.

And I've liked interactive movies and walking simulators. This game made the walking a nuisance and was paced worse than David Cage games.

Re: Reaction: Unrealistic Expectations Mar Sony's Best State of Play So Far

AyanamiReign

The last State of Play was back in like May or something wasn't it? That's a long break from them, was hoping it'd be a bit more substantial. We knew it was going to be focused on TLoU2 but they didn't really give us a deep dive or developer comments/excitement or anything, just a new trailer with a date.
If they'd just released that trailer on it's own without the whole run up to a live stream people wouldn't have gotten their hopes up.

Since Sony are skipping E3 now are we only going to get news from these states of play? Should we not get excited at the possibility there will be one revealing the PS5 and other bombshell announcements? Say if the next one is in January?

Re: Sony's PS5 Strategy: Aim to Please Hardcore Gamers, Focus on Exclusives and Big Publishers

AyanamiReign

Doesn't seem that smart to me. One of the main reasons the PS4 did so well is that it launched cheaper than the xbox, which forced MS to remove the kinect and lower their price.
The reason the PS3 did so badly to start off with was it's initial high price.
The only way this would work is if the new Xbox is similarly priced so one doesn't look more attractive than the other.
Or in theory they could treat it like the PS4 Pro... I could see all games releasing at launch for PS5 also being available on PS4 so people won't feel a need to upgrade straight away.

Re: European Survey Finds Vast Majority of Gamers Not Interested in Streaming Services

AyanamiReign

I've always been happy having a console and buying games, barely been paying attention to the streaming services as I think it's too soon for them based on internet speeds and a desire for as little lag as possible in the games I play most.
However my friend pointed out as an example, when the new Gears of War is on Microsoft's subscription thing we can pay like £10 for a month, play that one game and effectively save £40ish on buying the game properly, not to mention we can play it on PC since we don't have XBoxes.
I don't really see how this will be profitable for them but if streaming/subscriptions means super-cheap games then it'll really kick off.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Decision to Skip E3 2019 Is Starting to Look Really Smart

AyanamiReign

I was thinking the opposite watching Microsoft's conference, there were loads of good games shown off, details on the new console (I really think a big stage is best to announce such things and not a miss-able article), another studio acquisition, Keanu Reeves...

Sony on the other hand being completely absent doesn't look great : / Can't blame them though, they'd just have shown off the exact same games that were at E3 last year minus Days Gone, which wouldn't have gone down well.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Is More Powerful Than Project Scarlett

AyanamiReign

I already think games can look amazing on the PS4 Pro so both consoles are going to surpass that whilst also loading quicker and having backwards compatibility.
Games are the key to choosing one over the other and xbox are moving in the right direction buying studios, you've got to give them that.
I wonder what Sony are planning for it's launch to compete with Halo... PS4's launch relied on multiplatform games and Knack lol. They need a heavy hitter to sell consoles.

Re: Talking Point: Did Microsoft Deliver the Goods in Its E3 2019 Press Conference?

AyanamiReign

I didn't expect much and ended up really enjoying it.
Would have gone even better if the Bandai Namco games hadn't leaked.
Phantasy Star and Dragon Ball were surprises. Enjoyed seeing Cyberpunk and Keanu a lot. Didn't expect any gameplay for Elden Rings, just like when Bloodborne was announced.

So envious of their Elite controller. Sony need to get an official one made already.

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for E3 2019 Yet?

AyanamiReign

I'd actually forgotten Sony weren't doing a conference this year. Are they doing a State of Play at least?
Other than them there's at least Cyberpunk, Avengers and Final Fantasy VII to look forward to along with hopefully some surprises that are coming to PS4.

Re: Need for Speed Returns in 2019, But We Won't See It at E3

AyanamiReign

I absolutely loved Most Wanted and Rivals. 2015's Need for Speed was okay but a bit disappointing and Payback I could not get into at all, the progression system ruined it.
I love the gameplay and open world for single-player but always thought they should have made static races for online multiplayer that you could just queue up for with matchmaking without it being a full open world.

Re: Rumour: The Last of Us 2 Release Date Reveal Coming This Week

AyanamiReign

Need some big games to get confirmed release dates already, 2019 looks pretty barren/disappointing atm as far as I'm concerned.
Anthem was a flop. Days Gone just looked average. Kingdom Hearts I've never gotten into. Sekiro was good! And Apex Legends but that's about it lol. Bloodstained (which might not be great) in June and Control in August are the next PS4 games on the horizon with confirmed release dates I want and everything else is TBC.

Re: Apex Legends Revenue Has Reportedly Dropped Off a Cliff

AyanamiReign

I still enjoy playing Apex, prefer the gameplay, map, abilities and weapon balance massively to Fortnite and Blackout.
Not surprised about the revenue though, hopefully their second Battlepass's content is much better than the first or they reduce the prices in their shop for direct skin purchases.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play Livestream?

AyanamiReign

Trying to get my expectations in line for these, they're not as exciting or interesting as the Nintendo ones so far... Like they're just a bunch of trailers stuck together, I feel like they need a host or something. Or maybe just longer trailers going more in-depth?
Something feels lacking that's for sure and we're not getting an E3 presser from Sony this year so it'll just be one of these instead? : S
