I loved Apex Legends for the first like 3 years but have trailed off and not played it in ages now. Currently enjoying Marvel Rivals. Was actually wishing Marathon was a battle royale instead of an extraction shooter after watching the recent reveal, since I know I like BRs and the extraction genre just doesn't sound as fun to me...
My feelings don't really have an option. Played Worlds when it came out, it was cool, I finished it and had some fun, don't really feel the need to play another one. The story/characters/world weren't that interesting imo. The gameplay loop hooks you though.
Terrible timing from my opinion, I'm still playing Infinity Nikki, I like the look of this but don't have the time for another open world. Also it's lacking the excitement of a new game's launch since it came out on PC ages ago.
This is the most annoying thing about owning a PS5 Pro. Sony confirms a list of games that will be ready for launch, the store updates to show those games are enhanced. Have they been? It's more clear-cut if a new graphical mode to select gets added but it's entirely possible the game could just detect the console you're using and provide a single setting (plus a 120FPS toggle), like how Apex Legends and Fortnite typically have worked (both don't appear to have been patched).
Then it depends on what the developer even wants to do with the patch. Both of the games I mention do run better on a Pro as you'd expect; better holding to the resolution and frame-rate caps instead of getting drops. What you hope however is that they'll implement PSSR and add in some higher graphical settings from the PC versions. More info from devs would help if Sony isn't providing any.
Hardly flaunting it or trying to put a positive spin on in imo, it's just making sure people are aware since there isn't an edition with a disc drive this time.
To be honest this is pretty annoying, swapping between PS, XBox and Nintendo and getting prompts to press X when you've built up muscle memory for one position. Or even just how Nintendo tends to have confirm and cancel in the opposite config...
Sony sent it out to die, true. However up until the reactions to the trailer and then beta tests I think they'd have said the same as they're saying about Fairgames now. Both games will no doubt have big budgets and high production values as well as serviceable gameplay but that certainly wasn't enough to help Concord with it's pricing model and character designs. The cringey tone of that first Fairgames trailer doesn't inspire confidence...
Both Star Wars and this are on my 'I'll get them eventually' list. My plan might have changed if either got like 10s across the board but that hasn't happened.
They aren't wrong. Tons of games to play anyway, but that doesn't make the lack of even any announcements or reveals for whatever all their studios are working on any better.
XBox seems to have been buying up all the FPS IP they can. Sony has tried and failed at making any truly successful FPS games and Bungie has made some of the best. It made sense to buy them, what was weird was the 'we bought them but they're still independent' situation. Which maybe they were counting on not working out so they would own them properly? IMO Bungie alongside Infinity Ward/Respawn make the best feeling FPS games ever.
I'd have answered: No, because it's not F2P and I'm not paying for a PS+ sub just to give it a go. I'd definitely have given it a shot if I could do so for free however. Still think the character designs are awful but I liked Destiny and Halo so maybe it plays really well.
It does feel weird for a DLC to be considered for Game of the Year but Shadow of the Erdtree is a bit of a special case considering it's larger than most full games.
Could have been a good action game or a good JRPG instead it didn't succeed at being either. It's more disappointing for how promising parts of it are.
I was kinda hoping this would come out with the Switch 2 as a launch game... Like with Octopath 2 I like playing JRPGs like this portably for like grinding or playing mini games (DQ casino) but that game ran and looked better on PS5 so it was an annoying choice. Assume it'll be the same this time. No idea how Nintendo will be handling back compat and I could see Square Enix releasing a new edition rather than a patch.
It doesn't matter to me that much really but I am curious as to why a lot of F2P games I've played have trophies but no platinum. I'd assumed all of them didn't due to Sony making some rule but there are some free games that do?
Funniest part for me was the hero shooter XBox showed off (FragPunk) actually looked fun. Compared to Concord I preferred the character designs and the card abilities that are like cheat codes looked unique and pretty cool. Not sure if it’s coming to PS5 though.
I'd be more into the Hero Shooter aspect if I liked the look of the heroes more. Overwatch is on another level in that aspect. The thing I have the most issue with is that it's not F2P.
Still kinda expecting this to be free with PS+ If not, well, good luck competing in an already difficult space full of F2P games. Also battlepasses and such only feel justifiable in F2P games, I assume this will have one?
Unlike other F2P games where you have basically nothing to unlock unless you purchase a battlepass this game provides challenges to unlock weapons, grenades and character skins as well as a new faction. Plus a weapon on the battlepass you unlock for free. Then using the weapons to unlock attachments. It's been nice actually having something to work towards. Plus the game has been fun so far and is a nice change of pace. The Finals was interesting but didn't have much staying power, this feels more promising so far.
Yeah seriously, you listen to the podcast and think Phil said one thing then listen again and nope. He didn't actually confirm Starfield and Indiana Jones aren't ever going multiplat, just that they weren't two of the four games they're currently planning to put on PS and Switch. On a case by case basis is the best we'll probably hear as they've said before. Guess they have to be a year old to be considered so unlikely to be day and date and if they're a live service or small game it increases the odds.
Their 'Play Anywhere' slogans and marketing talk always bugged me since you couldn't actually play their games anywhere and Microsoft were actively taking away multiplatform games by buying up studios but hey it looks like they meant it.
I assume this is a live-service game with a battlepass ect, shouldn't it just be F2P to get the most amount of people possible playing it even after a month? Even Rocket League, which popularized the whole getting super-big with PS+ thing has gone properly F2P.
Final Fantasy is the only one I want to pick up day 1 full price. Granblue Fantasy, Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin all look interesting but I'll wait on reviews and until I'm done with FF. The new Yakuza game looks really good but the last one is still on my backlog.
I'd love a proper article explaining why it is/isn't a scam for us to have to pay to play online (With no lower tier option without the 'free' monthly games). Are you playing on PC? No charge. PS3? No charge. Playing F2P games? No charge. We using dedicated servers or Peer to Peer? Is it Sony's servers we're even playing on? Nope, other publishers. Are the other publishers getting any of this money for maintenance or whatever? They're making a hell of a lot of money from it that's for sure, if a customer has no interest in the free games how is that price justified? And yet if I want to continue playing Street Fighter 6 online I have to pay.
There isn't a dedicated video game store where I live and Tesco is the closest place I could go to pick a game up in person. That said, I usually order things online to be delivered. Are they stopping selling games online as well?
1 year timed exclusivity is far better than permanent exclusivity. Also there's no reason Microsoft couldn't also try to get timed exclusivity on all of these by bidding more than Sony. I wonder what percentage of Skyrim sales were from Playstation, which they'll now be missing out on with Starfield.
Really like how Ubisoft do these, you hear from the devs so it's not just trailer after trailer for way too long... The gameplay trailers and even breakdowns at the end were great. Bummed that the China Assassin's Creed is a mobile game still but apart from that it was a really solid lineup and show. Better than Sony's that's for sure...

Sounds a lot like what happened to the Visions of Mana studio and that game came out polished/finished so not necessarily being sent out to die imo.

How bizzare, why wouldn't you remaster the first game first?

That's a shame, been looking forward to trying this out since it was first shown off, it looked better than Genshin Impact to me.

Square Enix are always delusional. The collector's edition is £190 and the main thing there to justify that price is a set of acrylic stands.
