@Dudditz09 easy clicks, easy money. We all love a ‘good’ rumour. Now we get to watch countless YouTubers talk about it for countless podcasts over the next couple of days
Drinking the cool-aid sammy. Which publisher has MS bought and made its entire output exclusive? Bethesda? The only games confirmed exclusive so far are starfield and redfall… Where as, as you know, since the deal all the Bethesda output has only been on PlayStation so far… clearly showing how starfield and redfall were likely to go. Need a bit of patience before crying the entire output will be exclusive yet. Reckon indiana jones is heading PlayStations way too.
Its such a shame Sony don't see the public worthy enough of showing up and supporting the gaming community taking part in these events. Maybe not financially viable...but you have to figure that at some point MS is going to reap some sort of rewards for supporting them. Like surely there's some benefit to get you out there in the collective consciousness that you care about the gaming community. State of plays alone will only travel so far.
Hopefully we'll see Sony making a bit more effort again soon. Maybe when they push psvr2
I remember a few months back when I think most of us were under the impression game trials was going to be for every game on psn...the proposition of that was pretty damn tantalising, and would have been a huge plus in favour of Sony's highest tier...
As disappointing as premium is it kinda makes sense now why 'extra' is such a cluttered mess with premium only games littered throughout the games catalogue. The constant hard sell of premium throughout the experience of 'extra'.
Its such a shame streaming is locked behind the premium service...but then that's probably its number one selling point at the moment.
@Richnj Yeah well, let's be honest, if and when Xbox patent gameplay I'm pretty confident we can be sure everyone here will want to talk about it.
Regardless of who's doing it, no gamer with a sane mind shouldn't be able to see how much this damages gaming and how we, the players/payers, really aren't 'winning' from these tactics.
@Richnj Yeah...all the talk about acquisitions, timed exclusives, or subscription services, being bad for gaming... Placing a patent on 'gameplay' certainly is....yet seemed to go mostly ignored, particularly with a certain sect of people. It's annoying. We saw it with a 'nemisis system' too...
And just think of how many retro arcade games we could have been playing through loading screens back in the PS1 days if it wasn't for namco...
Team Asobi is fast becoming one of PlayStations best studios. Its such a shame they get locked behind pushing new tech. Their psvr2 game will be great I'm sure, and exploit all the hardware features. But they could be doing so much more...there's no reason these can't be pushing out several platform games at the level of super Mario each gen for sony
@Would_you_kindly Yep. This game looks awesome tbh...was one of the most visually impressive games shown in June...and that sound design, wow. But...I won't be buying another cod again because of MW2019. I'll play through these when they hit gamepass. I can wait.
@uptownsoul What's even more interesting is that Sony now owns the patent to 'stranding' gameplay...so wouldn't be surprised if anything going forward with sequels is Sony published...or forced to be a very different game.
@Godot25 Yeah same. If not f2p themselves, makes perfect sense for them to place them on their subscription services and get as many people there day 1. And if that proves a successful move then I wouldn’t be surprised if they try it with other games. The Last of us remake would have been the perfect one really to see how many new subs releasing day 1 would get them on top of physical sales…test whether it was worth looking at in the future.
Same with pc ports…I don’t think Spider-Man selling less day 1 than god of war is going to put them off supporting pc. I do think it will convince them sooner to at some point test day and date with ps5.
@Dudeman1 Halo - No, look at what you're writing...usually you're answering your own questions. Does Halo releasing f2p with less content and 'cash shop' items...sound more like the product of a subscription model like gamepass/Psplus (baring in mind it's not on a subscription...as like you've acknowledged, it's f2p)...or a does it sound like a live service model?
And I certainly hope you like live service models...
Ok, well I personally can't think of even a handful of games I have that didn't need a day 1 patch. Nor several patches down the line. But if you tell me most games don't need patches then of course I'll believe you.
My argument about hardware makes no sense? Read what I'm actually writing again.
Re: full price games - in reference if you want to play it day 1, of course.
Its not bad 'owning' your games. You've missed the point.
I'm looking at cyberpunk right now, physical. When I play that back in 10-20years time...which experience will I get? Today's experience after it's been patched for over a year. Or day 1 experience?
I'm looking at driveclub physical. Not even 10years old. If I play that today what experience will I get...same as day 1?
What's the real value in owning these games? That's what I'm trying to get at. For me it's not enough to not be enjoying day 1 releases on a subscription service and playing them there. It does not remove the option of me owning them later if I really want to. You're creating an issue that's currently a non issue.
Sony is indeed a saint...if we forget how they brute forced their own way into the position they're in - which we will, as you're clearly 'delicate'. Gamers will ultimately go with where the games they want to play are.
@Dudeman1 Your comments are so hilarious to me. Gamepass' has negatively effected a f2p game that's a f2p game - that isn't on gamepass... 🙃
Gamepass, as of today, hasn't negatively impacted anything on Xbox. Actually, that's a lie, gamepass' pretty much killed games with gold.
When I look back at my PS3/PS2/PS1 collection and my lack of ability to just have them work without being locked behind their hardware, It all seems a bit pointless. I mean it's cool hooking everything up for the odd nostalgia trip...but outside of that, looking back has never excited me as much as looking forward. Then I look at last gen, how the vast majority of my physical games required day 1 patches. How some needed several patches. How some need an internet connection. How some have had their servers pulled since so you can no longer play half the content that's on the disc... I wonder how much I do actually own of these games. And how many of the games that are actually on the physical disc fairly represented what I actually ended up playing first time round...
I honestly think I'm cool with playing games on a subscription and simply enjoying them when they were released...and then moving on to the next one. Than paying £70 for each game and keeping them on a shelf in hopes one day when I do decide to play them again they actually work.
Of course, all of this ignores the option that you can still buy physical versions on Xbox if you wish... I mean there's nothing to suggest you can't enjoy starfield day 1 as part of your subscription and then buy the physical down the line far cheaper than its day 1 physical price, right?
@zebric21 But then what does it matter if a percentage of the install base is on a month for a quid offer? Or cheap trials? I’m sure you’ve noticed that those that care most about that are gamers that predominantly play on PlayStation, right? I mean you have to ask yourself why MS do those offers so often. It’s obviously not concerning them…the numbers grow and that helps the stock price.
It’s pretty obvious gamepass is growing… you can wait for the new numbers if you like…(but then you’ll just argue the vast majority of all those millions are on a £1 offer, right?). Or you can also pay attention to how gamepass has shaped the narrative since it’s conception - how it’s shaped xbox. How it’s starting to shape PlayStation. Gamepass is sticking around…it’s moving away from the confines of the console. It is growing.
Obviously they don’t want the majority of gamers just dropping in and out of gamepass whenever there’s a free trial or offer. The vast majority aren’t. But what will ensure that further will be the exclusives to that subscription platform…which is why they’ve invested so much in publishers and studios. They want something month by month that gains/keeps subs. If they can get that then it’s going to get very interesting to see how Sony reacts.
Well I think we all knew there was a big gap. Sony came out aggressive (passive) with the PS4...and went for the kill throughout the gen. Served them well.
A lot of fuss is being made of the whole 'paying to keep games off gamepass'...I'd love to know if any of those games were games they didn't have marketing deals with though - then it becomes a story.
Xboxs focus is absolutely different now. Their platforms gamepass'. And they're already changing the landscape with it. Sony have showed they're worried about it. Have showed a need to compete with it. For something thats 'not sustainable', 'killing gaming', 'rubbish', on the PlayStation forums...the fact is its growing. Its growing the Xbox brand. And it's only going to get stronger.
Sooner sony allow gamepass' on their platform the better it will be for them. And the more chance of more than doubling Xbox sales this gen too.
@JJ2 It’s definitely fascinating. I’m fascinated that you read my comment on why people may be making accounts just to get a rise out of people like you - as in people that spend their first two comments complaining that PlayStation should be Sonys focus and a suggestion pushsquare have some sort of motive writing these articles. I wasn’t being angry, I was just pointing out you guys are easy pickings…as, ironically, you came across a little angry.
And angrier still as you count up how many times ‘fanboy’ was written in said comment… that’s fascinating. I won’t mention how many times you wrote the word ‘focus’…
I don’t particularly think ‘Xbox needs payback’… I can just understand why an eagerness may be there to stir the pot.
But least we can all sit back and laugh! 👨❤️💋👨 <- that’s me and you!
Can’t wait till these consoles start having their capabilities really exploited. The Matrix demo was a good hint at what we should expect this gen. Graphics are finally going to start hitting that ‘photo realism’ we fooled our brains into thinking Goldeneye hit back on the N64. What I’m really looking forward to seeing though is the generational leap in AI and animation. As well as seeing what else new gameplay wise this gen can offer… what new genre of game it will lead to - probably something incorporating the cloud.
@Northern_munkey And your place in heaven is secure I’m sure. But that will be at least one of the reasons why you may be seeing fresh accounts made just to comment on these stories…just have to suck it up.
@JJ2 @Northern_munkey It’s called ‘karma’. For years of PlayStation fanboys mocking Xbox over their games coming to pc. You can’t be surprised that accounts are getting made specifically to try and trigger fanboys on dedicated PlayStation sites now ps4/5 games are coming to pc. This is what has been earned… and PlayStation fanboys are pretty easy to rile up. So it’s to be expected.
@naruball That sounds more like people with an agenda rather than why the phrase ‘go woke go broke’ was original coined - least that’s what I remember it meaning
@Godot25 none of that fits the narrative though. The narrative has to be that games that get released on gamepass day1 suffer in quality …because that’s why Sony aren’t offering it. I mean they’ll all go crazy for indie games that release on PlayStation subscriptions day 1 (like stray, rocket league) never any mention about those deals effecting quality. But gamepass simply HAS TO effect quality…even though the reality (so far) is higher more critically rated games. And zero proof budget has been pushed back in developing games…infact the opposite, we saw halo get a year long delay, and recently Xbox’s two most important games of this year get delayed to next…which should be proof enough that Xbox cares about quality regardless of games hitting gamepass day 1.
@naruball This doesn’t make much sense…the whole ‘go woke go broke’ thing isn’t for every movie featuring predominantly black cast…nor every movie that features homosexuality. It’s taking already established IP and changing the race, or sex, of characters to fit a certain narrative, isn’t it?
@BritneyfR_ee Heh the amount of backlash Xbox got for making tomb raider exclusive was insane…and enough to make them cautious about being aggressive with third party exclusivity since…where as Sony has gone the other way, and been more aggressive.
The funny thing is is that Sony themselves made tomb raider exclusive. Paying to keep it off the Saturn and N64…after the first one became one of the best selling Saturn games on the market. But that was ok, right?
As far as I’m aware, no, no game that Sony did exclusivity deals with sold better on the Xbox… but then PlayStation has been the platform leader…and it could be argued then that all these 3rd party exclusivity deals have effected the growth of the competition…right?
Again, what is it with you guys thinking Xbox invented timed exclusivity? Even the smallest amount of research will teach you timed exclusives have been a thing for EVERY GENERATION EVER.
Yes, the 360 was aggressive with it…Xbox had like a handful of their own studios. But PlayStation started out aggressive with it too. If you want balanced knowledge just do a little research. It won’t fit the narrative of ‘Sony good Microsoft bad though’ you guys here seem to take so much comfort in. But it will stop you all sounding so stupid crying ‘Microsoft started this’! Like spoilt babies. It’s business.
You’re last statement about ‘MS crying foul is like a bully crying victim’ is insanely hilarious because I know there’s not even a hint of irony there - you actually see things so one sided. Literally Sony just did this too…who are, as you all love to vast in, out selling Xbox each generation. Who are actively keeping 3rd party AAA games off Xbox and gamepass…whilst outselling them, what 7-1?
Ms are hamming it up for sure, they want the deal to go through. But they’re not wrong in what they’ve said. Sony are hamming it up too, they don’t want the deal to go through, there’s some truth in what they’ve said. But ‘bully’ tactics from MS? It’s about time they bit back! And hopefully Sony have now properly awoken a sleeping giant who isn’t going to play nice anymore and will once again be aggressive like in those 360 days. Get us some real competition going.
And you keep bringing up gta4 dlc timed exclusivity…yet apparently forget that Sony did an exclusivity deal for GTA 3 and Vice City, keeping it off Xbox for years. Which is why Peter Moore got the ‘gta tattoo’ and it was such a big deal gta 4 was released on 360 same day as ps3 version. And why it was so shocking they bagged exclusive dlc for it…because PlayStation had had such a hold on gta exclusivity. See…you have to put things into context and look at a whole story.
@BartoxTharglod exactly! It’s lovely to get a peek behind the curtain and see how they really view one another…and the good news is, it’s as competition - which means we gamers ultimately benefit
@Dudeman1 Xbox didn’t invent the notion of timed exclusivity. It’s been part of every generation since the beginning of gaming…including the ps1 - look into the timed exclusives they had over the Saturn.
Also even when Xbox had the cod marketing rights and made sure map packs hit the 360 first…they never once paid activision to lock out game modes day 1 on the ps3 version. You had the same game on ps3 as they did on 360.
Also skyrim, fallout, sold more on 360 btw. And in fact, particularly skyrim, had pretty shoddy ps3 ports in comparison.
@GagaOooLaLa hehe yeah…I also remember the huge back lash that got from various known outlets.
Hey remember that time Microsoft’s paid for timed exclusivity last gen of that other well established AAA franchise? …no?
Ok, do you remember the huge backlash from media outlets street fighter 5 and final fantasy 7 being exclusive to PlayStation got?
Remember the huge backlash all the sites like IGN gave Sony for all their years long timed exclusivity on AAA 3rd party games? Or year long exclusivity of game modes, like Spec ops in cod?
Or remember the huge backlash their exclusive deals with the likes of EA back in the ps3 days where games like dead space would come with additional content…even full extra games… for the same price as the 360 version?
Bet you remember the backlash From MS spending millions on gta 4 dlc though eh?
Hmm can’t say I’m impressed with neither extra nor premium this month. I guess it doesn’t help that I already have metro. And the yakuza games/ubisoft titles are already on gamepass. And bugsnax I already got via their cheapest tier.
This is why subscription exclusives are going to be so important as we progress in this gen - there’s going to be so many third party cross over games.
Hopefully they’ll sort out how cumbersome it is to just navigate to the ps extra games - I’m sick of being asked to upgrade to premium constantly
What didn’t click with you? Just one of those things…everybody raves about ghosts of Tsushima when tbh I’m finding it boring and a chore to continue with 🙅🏻
@Jacko11 No good being the best cod if you can’t play it! Everytime they updated warzone (which was a forced download with MW) they deleted the sp campaign…forcing you to constantly have to reinstall and download texture packs etc. Thus resulting in MW 2019 being one of the worse cod experiences…I know it certainly put me off from buying the game going forward.
@UltimateOtaku91 No, because Sony is a platform holder…the leading platform holder. And when the leading platform holder is fully committed to £70 games do you think this is an encouragement to AAA money hungry publishers…or a deterrent?
I’d also argue the ones that get ridiculed are the simpletons who defend paying more for cross gen games…which on here there were plenty…and not because of multi platform games.
It’s losing all the marketing exclusives like this that has Sony so scary. Seething.
Can’t wait to see how Xbox treat cod in the next few years…if they’ll start locking PlayStation gamers out of modes for a year or so whilst still charging them £70. If they’ll go back to getting dlc early. If they’ll get exclusive betas/skins etc…
It’s all these exclusive extra perks that end up swaying casuals from one platform to another when it comes to giant multi platform games. There’s a reason why Sony pushed so hard for exclusive marketing rights all last gen…and Xbox the gen before that.
Add to that the difference between £70 and day 1 gamepass… unless cod suddenly loses the ability to sell…xbox gonna be laughing
I’m about 65hours in and Elden ring is destined to be my game of the year. There’s just so many layers to it. Every play through feels like I’m discovering something new.
Numbers were never going to stay to the level they were when we were all locked down. We were all clambering for our time to be taken… look at what happened with the switch and animal crossing - crazy times.
End of the day gaming is a luxury for most. The cost of petrol and electric is pretty crazy right now. So even after the sun has gone back behind the clouds I can’t see gaming reaching the peak it did this time last year…especially with £70 games. I can see subscription models growing though.
Talking about luxury items…It’s going to be very interesting to what price point psvr2 comes out at…and just how well it does in its first 2 years.
@Ssimsim I dunno… I saw plenty of excitement for the new cod reveal in June. Personally I thought it looked great. I’m definitely hyped for it. The only shame being that it’s doubtful it will be part of my gamepass sub this year. Thanks Sony.
I wonder if Xbox can track benefit in going to these public facing events? I mean you’d think there must be some sort of pay off going that extra mile?… and yet Sony will be a no show again, relying on their state of plays…which gets people that are already onboard. This doesn’t make sense to me, but Sony must see the benefit over it than making sure they have a personal presence at public events…I wonder if their attitude will change at some point as we get further into this generation
Last of us 2 was great. But it has some serious pacing issues. The writing, and package as a whole, wasn’t as tight as the first one. The last of us is the greatest game ever if you want to kill dogs though. Which I personally didn’t gain too much enjoyment from.
Last of Us 1 was better all around. Just not as pretty… so I guess there’s one reason to buy the remake.
Neither are the greatest game ever though, come on.
This is going to be huge for Xbox, and gamepass in particular. Cod will definitely still come to PlayStation though. They really don’t need to keep it exclusive. In fact it probably ends up working out better if they charge £70 for it on PlayStation whilst marketing you get it day 1 as part of your Xbox subscription.
What will be interesting is if Xbox cared enough about all the timed exclusivity deals Sony has made over the years with the cod franchise that they’ll show a bit of spite and keep certain things like spec ops or maps timed exclusive for xbox and pc

Re: Sony Expands PlayStation Homepage for PC Games
@JJ2 you don’t find the subject of ‘console wars’ fascinating????
Re: This Unity Tech Demo Running on PS5 Is Super Impressive, and We Ain't Lion
Can’t wait till these consoles start having their capabilities really exploited. The Matrix demo was a good hint at what we should expect this gen. Graphics are finally going to start hitting that ‘photo realism’ we fooled our brains into thinking Goldeneye hit back on the N64.
What I’m really looking forward to seeing though is the generational leap in AI and animation. As well as seeing what else new gameplay wise this gen can offer… what new genre of game it will lead to - probably something incorporating the cloud.
Re: PS Store Sales Charts: PS Plus Extra Makes Stray July's Most Downloaded PS5, PS4 Game
But remember… day 1 subscription releases are bad. And subscription services are killing gaming!
Re: Sony Expands PlayStation Homepage for PC Games
@Dudeman1 🙅🏻
Re: Sony Expands PlayStation Homepage for PC Games
@Northern_munkey And your place in heaven is secure I’m sure. But that will be at least one of the reasons why you may be seeing fresh accounts made just to comment on these stories…just have to suck it up.
Re: Sony Expands PlayStation Homepage for PC Games
@JJ2 @Northern_munkey It’s called ‘karma’. For years of PlayStation fanboys mocking Xbox over their games coming to pc. You can’t be surprised that accounts are getting made specifically to try and trigger fanboys on dedicated PlayStation sites now ps4/5 games are coming to pc. This is what has been earned… and PlayStation fanboys are pretty easy to rile up. So it’s to be expected.
Re: PS5 Game Forspoken's Script Is Attracting Some Pretty Good Memes
@naruball That sounds more like people with an agenda rather than why the phrase ‘go woke go broke’ was original coined - least that’s what I remember it meaning
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
But again, doesn’t fit the narrative.
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
@Dudeman1 yet you’ve no problem calling out 3rd party games that MS helped to fund?
Re: PS5 Game Forspoken's Script Is Attracting Some Pretty Good Memes
@naruball This doesn’t make much sense…the whole ‘go woke go broke’ thing isn’t for every movie featuring predominantly black cast…nor every movie that features homosexuality. It’s taking already established IP and changing the race, or sex, of characters to fit a certain narrative, isn’t it?
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
@Dudeman1 MS published Mass effect
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
@BartoxTharglod exactly! It’s lovely to get a peek behind the curtain and see how they really view one another…and the good news is, it’s as competition - which means we gamers ultimately benefit
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass
Funny how memory works
Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusive Modern Warfare 2 Beta Begins 16th September
@Mikey856 No. why?
Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for August 2022 Announced
Hmm can’t say I’m impressed with neither extra nor premium this month. I guess it doesn’t help that I already have metro. And the yakuza games/ubisoft titles are already on gamepass. And bugsnax I already got via their cheapest tier.
This is why subscription exclusives are going to be so important as we progress in this gen - there’s going to be so many third party cross over games.
Hopefully they’ll sort out how cumbersome it is to just navigate to the ps extra games - I’m sick of being asked to upgrade to premium constantly
Re: Elden Ring Update 1.06 Helps Online Co-Op, Get All Patch Notes Here
@Grimwood It is. You just got to get gud scrub!
What didn’t click with you? Just one of those things…everybody raves about ghosts of Tsushima when tbh I’m finding it boring and a chore to continue with 🙅🏻
Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusive Modern Warfare 2 Beta Begins 16th September
@Jacko11 No good being the best cod if you can’t play it!
Everytime they updated warzone (which was a forced download with MW) they deleted the sp campaign…forcing you to constantly have to reinstall and download texture packs etc. Thus resulting in MW 2019 being one of the worse cod experiences…I know it certainly put me off from buying the game going forward.
Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusive Modern Warfare 2 Beta Begins 16th September
@UltimateOtaku91 No, because Sony is a platform holder…the leading platform holder. And when the leading platform holder is fully committed to £70 games do you think this is an encouragement to AAA money hungry publishers…or a deterrent?
I’d also argue the ones that get ridiculed are the simpletons who defend paying more for cross gen games…which on here there were plenty…and not because of multi platform games.
Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusive Modern Warfare 2 Beta Begins 16th September
Re: Elden Ring Had One of the Biggest Gaming Launches in YouTube's History
I’m about 65hours in and Elden ring is destined to be my game of the year. There’s just so many layers to it. Every play through feels like I’m discovering something new.
This game is something very special indeed.
Re: Sony's Not the Only One Struggling to Hold PS5, PS4 Players' Attention
Numbers were never going to stay to the level they were when we were all locked down. We were all clambering for our time to be taken… look at what happened with the switch and animal crossing - crazy times.
End of the day gaming is a luxury for most. The cost of petrol and electric is pretty crazy right now. So even after the sun has gone back behind the clouds I can’t see gaming reaching the peak it did this time last year…especially with £70 games.
I can see subscription models growing though.
Talking about luxury items…It’s going to be very interesting to what price point psvr2 comes out at…and just how well it does in its first 2 years.
Re: Sony's Not the Only One Struggling to Hold PS5, PS4 Players' Attention
@Ssimsim I dunno… I saw plenty of excitement for the new cod reveal in June. Personally I thought it looked great. I’m definitely hyped for it. The only shame being that it’s doubtful it will be part of my gamepass sub this year. Thanks Sony.
Re: Announcements, World Premieres Coming in Gamescom Opening Night Live This Month
Re: The Last of Us 2 Is 'One of the Greatest Games Ever Made' Say Avengers Endgame Directors
He is dead wrong.
Re: Sony Sounds Shook by Xbox's Activision Buyout, Says Call of Duty Has No Rival
