Just watched it. I’m definitely up for an ugly sonic movie. The chip and dale film was ok. The throws of nostalgia was done well…but man, How cool would it have been if they had made a proper crime thriller out of chip and dale. Ultimately this is still aimed at kids. Those that remember rescue rangers the most though are touching 40…a film that plays on nostalgia but written like china town would have been awesome…rather than falling into tired tropes (which they make fun off but at the end of the day still play it safe and follow them). I’d love to see Disney take full advantage of the freedoms a subscription service can offer and be more adventurous with licences that haven’t been touched for decades. They do come close a few times with this film…but there’s so much further they could go…especially when it’s adults who have real affinity to these characters
They did the same on Xbox a few weeks back. Initially had zero interest in the games but ended up really enjoying the mp in this. Some of the new game modes really make things interesting. Will download and play again. But prob wait till it ultimately comes to gamepass next year now rather than buy
@Brydontk Getting access to games for just a month doesn’t sound right. I think it will be like gamepass where they add games every months and the games that leave each month are ones that have been on their for awhile. Expect a huge backlash if it’s literally taking games off after only a month. I think them staying ‘with some leaving the service’…rather than all that months games leave the service when the month is up, to me reads like it will work like gamepass
Wow having games you own cross over from system to system is a very unexpected move from Sony…and one Xbox didn’t get praised enough for. Good job Sony…now we just need Nintendo to stop charging us for the same game every time they release new hardware
What’s going to be interesting is to see how the basic psplus offerings end up. Psplus for the most part has been decent in the quality and value of the games offered. Compare that with gold where it’s clear the investment is in gamepass monthly offerings and gold is a clear second thought…I do wonder if we will start to see a similar decline in psplus standard offerings as this gen goes on
@Brydontk Not stressful…they shouldn’t be replaced every month…just added to. You’ll no doubt usually get 6 months to a year before games start getting taken off.
This is what a subscription service needs…new titles per month to ensure you stay subscribing. If those are first party games all the better. I imagine Sonys first party will stay on indefinitely. And this is why they’re no doubt investing more in live service games to ensure subscribers stay subscribing
As usual I await all those that previous slagged off Ubisoft games suddenly loving them as they partner with PlayStation. But this is actually a decent get for their subscription service. Gamepass has EA and now PlayStation has Ubisoft. You gotta love it when Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo fight for our money…rather than rely on their biggest defenders crying ‘entitled’ at us.
I’m still unsure if gametrials are for a certain selection of games or all and every game in the store?…I originally thought it was for all games, but announcing games that have signed on for trials so far makes me think its a selection…
Personally, the trailer looked decent. Only thing I didn’t like was the wide shot of all the zombies these things have to thrown in there. The dialog I though showed it’s not taking itself too seriously. I got suicide squads vibes from this trailer. Hopefully the show will be good.
@tameshiyaku Imagine if they made a resident evil series that was 100% faithful to the game… same level of cheesy dialogue, delivered with the same cheesy bad acting. Same stilted direction and camera shots. People would still say it’s rubbish, why can’t they make a good game adaptation that’s faithful to the source material. We can only hope somebody mentions somebody being part of a sandwich in this!
It will be layers of fear 2, Blair witch, and medium. All games that have previously been on gamepass and been slagged off here for being boring walking sims. Personally I like bloobers games (layers of fear and observer I liked so much I bought twice!). And it would be a huge get for Plus if their new silent hill game releases day 1 on it…but I can’t see it happening. Which is why you have to put stock in select titles
@Rudy_Manchego if they go the Xbox rout and plan to ultimately put their subscription service everywhere then there’s no way it won’t support cross save. Can you imagine the backlash if it didn’t? Be hard to defend that oversight
I’ve never used psnow on the pc but believe it was supported. Which make me think the new premium plus tiers will be too…just maybe rebranded. Be interesting to see how they’re priced as it currently takes into account online play paywall.
@pharos_haven You need to experience the joys of being super comfortable in bed playing a video game. That’s where my switch got the most use…on those cold lonely nights…
I don’t know anyone who’s just spent close to £500 on a ps5, or been trying over a year to get one, is excited for news about a ps5 pro. Would annoy more than anything.
As for a slim model…can definitely see the attraction there. Will have had my ps5 a year in June and it still looks like an HUGE router to me personally.
@Apfelschteiner Should have been a pack in game with every ps4/5. Would have grown the community ten fold. But yeah, they need to bring it to pc. And give us creatures a way of getting our creations off dreams…cause right now the moment the servers go down, or mm suffer a hack, everything is lost. And people have spent literally years making creations on dreams…not just a case of a couple of hours and a games done in most cases.
Wonder how much thermo was spent on that little slice. This person always creates good slices of ‘games’ that show off the dreams engine but the reality is no actual game in dreams can look close to having photo realistic visuals. Everything eats so much graphics and gameplay in the thermo. Sound by itself can have a huge effect on eating gameplay memory…let alone animations and logic. Be great if they could release a dedicated ps5 update with far larger thermo to play with.
I can see why this would be a concern for PlayStation only owners. And Sony can see it too…which is why they play up to it so much - they sold you the same ‘ensuring quality’ line when they raised the price of games to £70 whilst other platforms did not. They sold you the same line about quality when they charged for upgrades from ps4 to ps5 first party titles. It’s a line that instantly gets early adopters of the ps5, of new subscription services, on board as it plays into fears. Maybe there’s truth in it. Maybe it will risk quality releasing games day 1 on the subs. But then what the narrative be if/when they do release games day1?
Tbh I’m surprised we’ve not had a statement out announcing day1 pc releases to ensure the quality of first party games. When we do (which we will) I wonder if the same voices will defend the decision.
It’s also going to be interesting to see what this means for their live service games which they’ve repeatedly said they’re going to be investing in this gen. Those will not be f2p? If they are does that mean the quality of them will be terrible? This gen is going to be an interesting one. Thankfully there’s decent options competing for my money.
@Grumblevolcano that’s your personal opinion about FH (and I also like FH3 the best). But gamepass so far is definitely not proof of Xbox first party quality dropping because we prefer FH3 over FH5. Last year all the games that hit gamepass day one were critically acclaimed - all in the GOTY conversations. Some winning awards. More so than any other year I can remember last gen…where MS first party support was minimal.
Couch co-op would have probably saved this for me. Offering something different to set it apart from everything else uninspired they showed. That’s a shame.
This looks rough - to the point I’m actually surprised It wasn’t playing on last gen consoles. It’s certainly doesn’t look like it’s doing anything the ps4 hasn’t put out at similar, or better, quality. Really not feeling this one. Visuals aside, the frame rate/animations look a bit janky. The AI poor…doing the usual waiting their turn to attack. The world life less. The combat, upgrade system…it just looks like every super hero game I’ve played before. Maybe it will have a good story. Maybe co op will add a lot. But I can’t say the demo left me feel excited to get my hands on this tbh
@OrtadragoonX mate with all the respect in the world…what are you going on about?
First, how’s tomb raider going through a long term hiatus? Tomb raider had a game and movie out in 2018. And just the other week it was reported a new one is in development using unreal 5…
It’s already been reported that the studios were sold debt free. So didn’t take any debts with them. You mean square used the 300mill to pay off their existing debts to look a more attractive buy for Sony? I reckon it would have been better having a western franchise legacy ip on the table still tbh…especially when Sony also makes movies. But who knows.
There’s very slim chance though that MS didn’t know about it. Yet random YouTuber did. I think it’s safe to assume square enix wanted to sell their western studios and probably were open to offers from all those interested…rather than settling on a chance buy by embracer. Again, crystal dynamics is currently working with Microsoft…you don’t think they had any idea at all when square loaned them out that square were interested in selling them?
I don’t think MS are able to make any acquisitions till the activision deal goes through. And I reckon Sony may be in a similar boat with the destiny deal.
@OrtadragoonX Sony would have to be the dumbest publishers on the planet if they actively turned their nose up at owning the tomb raider franchise. I don’t care how many uncharteds they have…there’s still plenty of value in the tomb raider ip…Lara Croft arguable still more iconic than Nathan drake. No, I just can’t see them saying to square enix “we’ll only buy you if you get rid of all your highly talented western devs and their iconic ip first”… especially when they could have had it for an easy 300mill. And there’s no way in the world MS would have turned down the chance to have tomb raider and crystal dynamics (who they’re already paying for perfect dark) in the bag. There’s a reason why both Sony and MS didn’t bid on square enix western devs and ip…and it certainly isn’t because they already have similar games a new tomb raider would be competing against.
I can see Sony buying square…but then what I don’t get is that the general Consensus is the reason why Sony or MS didn’t go for square enix’s western studios is because both are already tied with big acquisition deals. It’s also doesn’t make much sense of squares press release after the sale. I dunno, I do think if it’s suddenly announced that Sony are buying Square people should be scratching their heads on how they let a big ip like tomb raider go…especially when you’d think sony would also jump on making a tomb raider movie/tv show
@themightyant No job in the world is done for free. It’s a miracle we get games given us free in a playable form…let alone those rare cases of quality. There’s no force payments on any of them. And if grindings too much then just walk away…it’s literally cost you nothing. So I don’t get complaints about microtransactions in f2p games. It’s when it starts seeping through to £70 games there becomes a problem. Where the argument may still be ‘it’s optional to purchase content’…but on the flip side the sudden extra grind forced in these games to unlock said content is not optional.
1 billion per 6 months though…it’s no wonder everybody wants to get into the mobile phone gaming business
I really hope Sony shows something this ‘E3 season’… I remember last year when they were too absent and a load of Sony fanboys lost their mind and convinced themselves Abandoned was silent hill after Xbox’s decent showing. Those were good times…and I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing the tin foil hats come out again…but it would be nice if Sony took part in something next month. This would be the perfect show to stick something from naughty dog on.
Every successful GAAS game has been f2p… it’s going to be really interesting to see how Sony push theirs. Will they be charging £70 for a live service multiplayer focused Last of us? Place it behind one of their subscription paywalls? Or release it free to play?…never an obvious answer with Sony this gen. And how much of an uproar is Sony making existing ip GAAS going to realistically be? So you don’t get another killzone sp campaign but get a live service mp focused one…how many really care? So many already bat for Sony when they raise the price of games, charge for ‘upgrade patches’, patch in microtransactions… who’s going to really care if they’re investing billions in GAAS games? These people aren’t going to care…and they shout the loudest. The rest just play FIFA and cod.
I think there’s a reaction to this because that money could be going into yet more cinematic story driven 3rd person sp games. Those are why WE buy the console. Or maybe most would have the money be spent on ensuring games don’t come out on Xbox. But obviously the real money right now is in service games…microtransactions. Sony clearly know this and pushing for it…how they handle it we’ll see. Certainly don’t make sense slapping a £70 on these games though when you want more people playing them the better.
Should also be aware VRR doesn’t currently work with some VRR supported tvs on ps5. Think there was a list on Reddit it might be worth checking out if you’re thinking of picking up a new tv
They’re definitely pushing the marketing for this. They’ve done a deal with flight sim too. Hope the film is actually decent…and has 50+ year olds playing volleyball
Hmmm… I don’t think I’ve once played Rocket league cross play against anybody other than PC players on PlayStation. I’ve also never once seen playstation icons when playing grid cross play, or cod vanguard, when playing on Xbox…just Pc players during cross play.
In fact I can’t think of a single game I’ve played where I’ve been up against anybody on another console during cross play.
I’m confused…so the game trails are for every single game that’s over £35 on the PS4/5…or for games that are specifically got for the service? As sometimes it reads differently. If it’s for every game then it’s definitely good for us gamers…whilst it lasts. But devs not seeing a penny for building up their premium service…that’s going to be interesting to watch play out.
There’s so many unknowns with this… like will ps5 versions of these game trails actually be on the service?
Also, it’s always a shame when I read psvr titles won’t be included in their subs. I guess it makes sense when most are so short and lean more on ‘experiences’…although I was hoping that’s psvr2 games would be offering a lot more standard game length play throughs and less of the ‘experiences’
@BritneyfR_ee @TommyNL and yet sony have been fine with people stacking subs as much as they were with slapping on ‘auto renew’ for a console generation.
Out of the millions currently on psplus and interested in the premium service when it hits you have to imagine the tiniest fraction will be exploiting it. It more reasonable to assume that far more people will be effected by their top up cards they buy from the supermarket not working than those looking to ‘exploit’ a service. This has to be a a short technical issue…otherwise Sony have really shot themselves in the foot trying to prevent such a small percentage from getting premium cheaper
So I’m on plus for a year…do I just pay the difference of premium for one month and get that year converted like with gold and gamepass ultimate? Or pay the difference of a years sub? Or is this just for it I have an active ps now sub?…so I could get a months worth of ps now and have it upgrade my years plus subscription?
Two hours…I wonder if that counts down if the games paused or console placed on standby.
I guess I 2 hour demo is enough to get an idea of a sp focused game. I’d hoped they’d do something like EA plays 10 hour trials for mp games though…especially as Sony keep mentioning their future push for games as a service.
Gonna be interesting to see if this is a requirement for third party games how many go for it…and how many day 1 ‘demos’ this leads to. And how this effects future gamepass 3rd party deals where Microsoft are paying millions for these third party games to be on gamepass.
Also, for those that speed run games. I really wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a cut off point within those two hours…reach a certain point and it just ends your run through…offering the remaining time to play through that again.
That’s cool. I’d love to see a live orchestra do video game music. Was listening to some Starfield music just earlier and sounds excellent. Have you to remind us of this closer to the time.
@Flaming_Kaiser Doesn’t matter how big a company is or how much money they have…when there’s backlash it can still change things if there’s a risk to future earnings. We’ve seen that recently with GT7. With Xbox live gold. We saw it with the Xbox one. And back in the day when online used to come with a one time use code. And further back when EA used to charge money for cheat codes. People just need to vote with their wallet. Unfortunately some are too eager to allow excuses…which is why we’re paying £70 for ps5 games and £10 for upgrades on this side. So who knows how this whole ad thing will play out on one platform compared to the other. They’ll all listen and react the if people shout loud enough…that’s been proven.
@REALAIS I dunno… i really would t be surprised. Money talks…and you don’t get much more of a money maker than gta. The Getaway had McDonald’s, Burger King, and everything else you can mention. I don’t know about blowing up (you can’t blow up buildings in gta now), but I’m presuming you can shoot at these buildings or smash into them with cars etc.
Also, Forza has allowed scratches on licenced cars since the beginning I think.
@Flaming_Kaiser this isn’t new to gaming. We used to get games brought to us by products. Ps1 era had the likes of Pepsi man. 360 I remember f2p games sponsored by Doritos. EA attempted to place ads in fight night at one stage…selling ad space on the ring. PS3 exclusive infamous apparently has subway in it. Sony PS4 exclusive death stranding had monster energy drinks advertising in it…and then they charged £70 again for death stranding directors cut that has Monster energy drink advertising still advertising in it. So let’s not put this all on MS just cause they introduced you to an old idea…if anything they’re falling behind.
If there’s a way to make money people will try and make it. How intrusive these ads will become we’ll have to wait and see. If they get out of control hopefully people will vote with their wallets and not blindly make excuses for them.
@Deljo Yeah something that adds an authenticity within the world the developers have created i’d, and I think most here, would have no problem with. But it’s a fine line that will ever try to be crossed. It’s already been crossed… let’s not all forget probably one of the more recent examples of in your face product placement for monster energy drinks in Death stranding. Added nothing to the world kojima built. Nobody here is disgusted by kojima or Sony placing product placement adverts in a game they’ve asked you to buy twice so far…
Oooooooo… this is why you have to be so careful about your vitriol and boasting on the likes of twitter… let’s seen if those jumping on Xbox for suggesting this keep that same energy now…or move the ever moving goalposts…
I’ll keep my same energy. Long as it’s kept f2p and keeps within the world the game is trying to create (no ads for McDonald’s or whatever popping up in a medieval fantasy) I don’t mind it too much as parts of billboards. If it gets intrusive though…as in we start seeing actual ad breaks within games then forget that. Rocket league billboards I can see jumping on this…like they already do with their micro transactions.
I think the line gets blurred more when it inevitably crosses over to £70 games. And then how many of us are going to complain about driving passed a McDonald’s in gta6?

I dunno, I do think if it’s suddenly announced that Sony are buying Square people should be scratching their heads on how they let a big ip like tomb raider go…especially when you’d think sony would also jump on making a tomb raider movie/tv show
Re: Genshin Impact Is Raking in Absurd Sums of Money
Re: Summer Game Fest 2022 Dated for 9th June, Game Reveals Planned
I really hope Sony shows something this ‘E3 season’… I remember last year when they were too absent and a load of Sony fanboys lost their mind and convinced themselves Abandoned was silent hill after Xbox’s decent showing. Those were good times…and I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing the tin foil hats come out again…but it would be nice if Sony took part in something next month. This would be the perfect show to stick something from naughty dog on.
Re: Video: Why Prey Is Arkane's Best Game
Still not over Prey 2 never becoming a thing!
For me Dishonoured 2 takes Arkane game number one spot all day every day over this.
Re: Sony Dumps Funds into Live Service Software Firm
Re: PS Plus Game FIFA 22 Appears to Be Targeting EA Play with Battlefield 2042 on PS5, PS4
EAplay another over looked value gamepass offers
Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games
Should also be aware VRR doesn’t currently work with some VRR supported tvs on ps5. Think there was a list on Reddit it might be worth checking out if you’re thinking of picking up a new tv
Re: PS Vita's PS Store Says Content Is No Longer for Sale
If you want to play all these vita games, psp games, PlayStation games, on a PlayStation console…get yourself a PlayStation mini.
Re: Ace Combat 7 Squads Up with Top Gun: Maverick for Crossover DLC on PS4
They’re definitely pushing the marketing for this. They’ve done a deal with flight sim too. Hope the film is actually decent…and has 50+ year olds playing volleyball
Re: All PS5, PS4 Crossplay Games
Hmmm… I don’t think I’ve once played Rocket league cross play against anybody other than PC players on PlayStation.
I’ve also never once seen playstation icons when playing grid cross play, or cod vanguard, when playing on Xbox…just Pc players during cross play.
In fact I can’t think of a single game I’ve played where I’ve been up against anybody on another console during cross play.
Re: PS Plus Premium Demo Requirement Puzzling Publishers, Devs
Re: Sony Blocks Subscription Stacking As Pre-Paid PS Plus Cards Stop Working on PS5, PS4
Re: Microsoft Bigwig Implies PS5 Is Losing Marketshare to Xbox
Great news. We want a closer generation. It’s the best out come for gamers.
Re: PS Plus, PS Now Members Will Be Upgraded to PS Plus Premium for the Duration of Their Longest Subscription
Re: Rumour: PS5, PS4 Games Over $34 Must Have PS Plus Premium Two-Hour Trials
Re: BBC Proms to Showcase Video Game Music for the First Time Ever This Summer
That’s cool. I’d love to see a live orchestra do video game music. Was listening to some Starfield music just earlier and sounds excellent.
Have you to remind us of this closer to the time.
Re: Rocket League Ditches the Ball for Combative Knockout Bash Event
My most played game of last gen. Best mp game ever…worse community ever.
The move to f2p/epic really hit the quality of the servers though.
Re: Sony Experimenting with Ads in Free-to-Play PS5, PS4 Games
Re: Sony Experimenting with Ads in Free-to-Play PS5, PS4 Games
@REALAIS I dunno… i really would t be surprised. Money talks…and you don’t get much more of a money maker than gta.
The Getaway had McDonald’s, Burger King, and everything else you can mention. I don’t know about blowing up (you can’t blow up buildings in gta now), but I’m presuming you can shoot at these buildings or smash into them with cars etc.
Also, Forza has allowed scratches on licenced cars since the beginning I think.
Re: Sony Experimenting with Ads in Free-to-Play PS5, PS4 Games
Re: Sony Experimenting with Ads in Free-to-Play PS5, PS4 Games
@Deljo Yeah something that adds an authenticity within the world the developers have created i’d, and I think most here, would have no problem with. But it’s a fine line that will ever try to be crossed.
It’s already been crossed… let’s not all forget probably one of the more recent examples of in your face product placement for monster energy drinks in Death stranding. Added nothing to the world kojima built. Nobody here is disgusted by kojima or Sony placing product placement adverts in a game they’ve asked you to buy twice so far…
Re: Sony Experimenting with Ads in Free-to-Play PS5, PS4 Games
Re: Shadowrun Trilogy Brings Classic Cyberpunk Role-Playing to PS5, PS4 in June
Always fancied playing these. If it turns out a decent switch port I’ll probably play it there though.
Game looks decent in the trailer
