Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

@Intr1n5ic That’s cool…as long as you can point out where I’ve ever said the price of gamepass won’t rise or the price of the console won’t ever rise

I expect gamepass price to rise at some point…as the value increases because they finally start delivering on the promise of day1 AAA games…at some point I feel it’s a certainty.
But then with the introduction of things like family pass, I imagine a tier will also come out just focused on the cloud at a cheaper entrance price… there’s always going to be options there and, importantly, the right value proposition

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@Intr1n5ic and yet they’re not raising it in the states and keeping it the same in other countries…they’re keeping it the same price throughout… and now offering a new family and friends plan for gamepass.
They’re not talking about what’s best for gamers, non of them are. But that doesn’t change the fact that the message of not rising the cost of something compared to the message of we are raising the cost of something, is more pro consumer. You can say it’s because of this this and this…the reason doesn’t matter, it’s still benefitting YOU the gamer.

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@Deljo nah, us console gamers are just focusing on cod…MS get so much more than that out of this deal though - they get huge gains in the mobile market that will end up making them billions

If they just wanted cod they should have spent a billion on getting the market rights for the remainder of this gen…would have been a lot easier and allowed it on gamepass day 1 no doubt

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@SolaceCreed of course I do…elder scrolls 6 was announced over 4 years ago… they’re still not even past the concept stages. Star field has been delayed. Fallout 5 is next. Then the real work begins on Elder scrolls - that game isn’t coming out for a very long time…you’re not going to need an Xbox console to play it, I feel confident in that

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@Intr1n5ic It’s very doubtful they will…but who knows. Nintendo said the same and it’s the number one selling console across the world

Also, there must be some demand for Xbox…why do you think Sony didn’t raise the price in the states?

Of course the messaging is pro consumer…it doesn’t matter the reason. The fact still is the price isn’t going up - which is pro consumer.

Like you’ve literally just said Sony is pro consumer for allowing destiny to stay on Xbox - again it didn’t matter the reason…you didn’t suggest it was because it’s a f2p game and they earn more for it being on all platforms, or that Bungie insisted on it. It’s the message that matters - ‘Xbox still gets to play it’ that’s pro consumer.

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@hoffa007 It makes no sense for cod to ever be exclusive to Xbox…just like Minecraft didn’t. It’s too big.
Xbox doesn’t lose out - the value isn’t in the game being exclusive it’s in the marketing rights…Xbox will have those marketing rights.
And Xbox will be able to market that cod comes with your gamepass sub…or you can pay £60 (as I don’t think they’ll have it as £70) to keep playing on PlayStation.

Every micotransaction that is sold on every platform goes to MS regardless

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@UltimateOtaku91 They’re not established ip. They’ve never been on PlayStation have no legacy on PlayStation. And, frankly, good… we all want competition to drive gaming forward, like it or not xbox has to have some exclusives for competition. There has to be some value there. If I was Phil Spencer I’d be announcing everything going forward as exclusive and force gamepass onto PlayStation…and if I was Jim Ryan I’d work out a way to get gamepass onto PlayStation…before gamepass ends up not needing PlayStation because you can get it on your smart tv as standard

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@Intr1n5ic you’re right. 360 gen Xbox was a lot more aggressive with marketing…and had the cod marketing (which is why they both know how valuable having that marketing is for their platforms)…they would have map packs early. Never once did Xbox lock away features though for the PlayStation version - you had no years exclusivity of spec ops etc on 360

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@Juanalf I know…poor suffering Sony. Since the news broke of the price rise they’ve already announced buying another studio and paying for yet more exclusive content of 3rd party multi platform games. I think they have some sort of addiction…keep spending money this year whilst ‘struggling’ to remain in profit. They’ll be on the streets in no time.

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@UltimateOtaku91 MS aren’t making all single player games exclusive. You already know cod is still coming with all features to PlayStation - this includes single player.

This month you’re getting deathloop on psplus extra - a single player game from Bethesda
You’ll likely get ghost wire Tokyo on extra too
You’ll likely still be getting the Indiana jones game in developement

And, let’s be real fair here, Xbox hasn’t yet had a single exclusive game out of any of these deals - They’ve put more games out on PlayStation than they have Xbox. How confident are we really that Phil Spencer will keep the likes of doom etc off PlayStation?

Re: Microsoft, Sony Signed Agreement to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 'Several More Years' Beyond Current Contract

Bleachedsmiles

@UltimateOtaku91 That would be funny if Sony bought EA… you know for certain two things would happen

  • all those crying over the possibility of Xbox having a single exclusive (not even cod) out of this deal would be begging Sony to make every EA game exclusive to PlayStation.
  • Sony would make every game exclusive to PlayStation and PC without a second thought or concern over ‘public perception’

Re: UK Government Investigating Xbox's Activision Buyout Further

Bleachedsmiles

@mrtennis1990 Don’t be soft. What possible ‘damage’ is this going to do? Not allow you to get exclusive content on games that are sold the same price on both platforms?

The only possible ‘damage’ MS purchases could possibly lead to is you having the option to pay for gamepass on a PlayStation console - or have the option to pay for gamepass on your tv…on your phone…on your Nintendo console…etc
It’s not going to lead to you requiring to buy an Xbox…that’s never been the plan.

Re: UK Government Investigating Xbox's Activision Buyout Further

Bleachedsmiles

MS have gone for this acquisition more for the mobile gains than for cod.

But Sony is right to be concerned - they lose the marketing. Sony gamers shouldn’t be concerned though…nothings going to change for you. It’s doubtful xbox will exploit the cod marketing the same way PlayStation has.
What is pretty hilarious is the UK government concern that could lead to ‘worse terms’ for their rivals… Doesn’t Sonys marketing deals already do this?…exclusive betas, early access trying the game, timed exclusive game modes, timed exclusive map packs…
Nearly every marketing deal Sonys doing with third party offer exclusive content…these is not leading to ‘worse terms’ for Xbox gamers?

If MS were only interested in cod they should have just bought the marketing rights for it for this generation.

Re: The Last of Us: Part I (PS5) - A Better, More Beautiful Remake of a Modern Classic

Bleachedsmiles

@Titntin Easier to part with £20 for a movie in a new format than it is £70 though right? The bigger the price of anything the greater the pause of thought - you can understand that.

And then you take into account for the same price you could get the new god of war this year…and this has missing content…

Personally, this is one of my favourite games ever…I rate it way above the second, I’m gonna wait for a sale.
I really think Sony should have ‘sacrificed’ this to premium day 1 and tested how many new subscriptions they get off the back of it.

Re: PS5 Is the Only Console Getting Price Rise, Microsoft and Nintendo Have 'No Plans'

Bleachedsmiles

@Futureshark exactly! Screw tiny Tim! If he wanted heating and a ps5 he should have gotten a second job! 🤔

I'll never understand why certain gamers want the 'flames extinguished' from any backlash so quickly when it has every chance of benefitting them as a gamer.
Look at the actual message Sony is sending... Nintendo and Microsofts response to that message is of course news - positive (for now) news.

Re: PS5 Is the Only Console Getting Price Rise, Microsoft and Nintendo Have 'No Plans'

Bleachedsmiles

@LiamCroft It’s not the news they want to hear. They don’t want to hear about how tiny Tim is going to freeze to death this christmas in old London Town because his parents spent £30 extra on a ps5 instead of heating. Serves him right. PlayStation needs to stay in profit!

They want positive news! Like all the stories about financially struggling Sony buying studios this year. Post when they buy square!

Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More

Bleachedsmiles

@Flaming_Kaiser They’ll spin it the same way certain apologists on here have won’t they? I mean Sony just paid how many billions on Bungie? what are those people here gonna say if Sony announces it’s buying square some point this year? Or announce they’ve acquired yet another studio?
It doesn’t count because Sony aren’t as rich as MS though right?… Sony are clearly struggling for money.

End of the day it’s a bad look for any of them. Break the message down - they acknowledge a global financial crisis. Acknowledge people are struggling with the cost of necessities. But want to raise the price of the ps5 to keep in profit (not survive). It’s an out of touch message. And if MS did it they’d get just as much, if not more, backlash.

But of course they’ll still be people just as out of touch as them, saying things like “if you can’t afford it don’t be a gamer”…or “deny yourself something for a month and you’ll offset that price difference”.
Or start writing about the strong dollar, or how they should do this in these countries because they’re popular enough to get away with it etc etc… non of which should be on the consumer who isn’t a billion dollar company.

It’s the message that I have a problem with. And the same would be for Xbox or Nintendo, regardless of how many more billions they have in their bank accounts

Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More

Bleachedsmiles

@spcspc I have no idea why you think the countries getting the price increases should be grateful they're being chosen because it's 'less disruptive'.

And sure, gamers in those countries could go without something for a month to offset the additional price... But some people have this seemingly unique thing called principles. For some people it's not simply about the money...it's about the message. And the message from Sony isn't a good one however you guys want to spin it.
When you think about it...how much money has Sony spent on studios this gen so far? And now with cost of staying alive rising we're to be sympathetic to Sony because? Why?...has Sony actually made a single pro consumer move this gen?

You're right, the gaming community barely focuses on the positives... So let's see you lead the way and congratulate MS for not raising the price of xbox's...

Oh, and you're singing the wrong song friend.

Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More

Bleachedsmiles

@spcspc “and if your babies are going crazy…that’s how you made me…la la la lala”

You’re totally right… as reward for ps5 selling more in places like they UK we should definitely celebrate their success by paying more for the console…why stop at £30? We should be grateful and offer them £100 extra! And if we can’t afford a measly £100 extra we don’t deserve to be gamers! Right?

“La la la lala” 🙃

Sony feeling they can raise the price here because ‘popularity equals less impact’ does not translate into us feeling ‘valued’. Crazy right?

Xbox doesn’t appeal to you? Ok?

Re: Why the PS5's Price Hasn't Changed in USA

Bleachedsmiles

@get2sammyb MS gave us covid…I think that’s pretty clear now. And now they’re selling a current gen console the same price as the ps4 pro…whilst forcing Sony the raise the price of its console and games so they remain in 400million profit.

What is interesting, in these soaring inflated adverse currency trending times, Sony is still eager to sell us expensive luxury controllers and VR headset add ons…you have to wonder what those will be priced at and how well they’ll actually end up selling.

@daveofduncan @UltimateOtaku91 @spcspc @jrt87 @Voltan

“Here they come, the beautiful ones…the beautiful ones…la la la la la”

Tbh I’m surprised there wasn’t more defending a price increase.
So far the defence seems to be pointing out chip shortages and global recession…and global covid… there’s merit to it…until you take into account the no current price hike in USA. Surely then you must wonder why you’re defending this…regardless of how valid your points are you’re being asked to carry this extra cost over their more valued American market - don’t moronically clap your hands at that.

And then of course you have the saints that cry “if you can’t afford £30 extra you shouldn’t be a gamer, loser”. I guarantee these will be the same charmers jumping all over Xbox if they announce a price hike over the next couple of weeks.

Interesting times
