Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at Summer Game Fest Live?

Bleachedsmiles

This, and concept art, was an odd choice to end the show with.

It definitely looks different in screen shots of character models. I think it is telling though they had to use side by side to point out it does look different.
Last of us is probably my favourite PlayStation game ever. And in my top 5 of all time for sure. I still don’t think game direction has been matched. But they asked me to buy it again for ps4 to run at (an almost solid) 60fps. I played it again just before last of us 2 hit…so I’ve fairly recent memory of it. Probably won’t be picking it up again.
I am interested to learn what they’ve changed with the gameplay though…as I actually preferred the crafting in the first one

Re: The Callisto Protocol Will Have Exclusive PlayStation Content at Launch

Bleachedsmiles

@uptownsoul Are you actually trolling me? You’re comparing a gamepass perk of some digital daggers on a game that’s FREE…to exclusive content on a game that’s charging the same price across multiple platforms?
Ok, fine…I concede…that’s a huge win for Xbox. And is totally comparable to PlayStation having a complete character and story arch exclusive in avengers…a complete game mode timed exclusive in cod… a complete extra game In dead space 2… damn those Fortnite daggers! You sure showed me!
And PlayStation gamers had the nerve to complain about this timed exclusive Xbox content??? Wow

Just don’t Google Fortnite exclusive PlayStation content.

Re: The Callisto Protocol Will Have Exclusive PlayStation Content at Launch

Bleachedsmiles

@uptownsoul You’re comparing the fanbase of these platforms not the reaction the mainstream media has towards timed exclusivity between these platforms then?
It sounds like you’re specifically referring to how people on this site view timed exclusives compared to the sister site?… so basically you’ve taken a very small pool of people and ran away with an opinion that’s not reflected by mainstream media. I get you.

You also seem to have confused timed exclusivity with timed/exclusive content. Tbh with I can’t think of a single game, recent or otherwise, on Xbox with timed exclusive content. A few on PlayStation come to mind though…

Either way, you’re wrong. People call out Xbox timed exclusivity…you’re calling them out about it…on just one of the countless sites dedicated to PlayStation. What does that possibly tell you?
And people are right to call out exclusive content on a game that’s presumably going to be sold at the same price on each platform. You can see how that has maybe less to do about Sony and more about the practice right? I mean you wouldn’t like it if a game you’re into had more content on the xbox version right yet you’re being charged the same? It’s a different argument from a full game being timed exclusive…you can see that right?
Tellingly though you’re first reaction was ‘defend sony…attack Xbox’ … and you revealed so much that I know all this falls on deaf ears.
It’s cool… you do you.

Re: The Callisto Protocol Will Have Exclusive PlayStation Content at Launch

Bleachedsmiles

@uptownsoul I think there’s either a communication problem or you may be a bit slow…

To clear things up. I’m not saying Xbox don’t do timed exclusives. I’ve actually said the opposite.
You’re saying people only complain when Sony does them - this is not based on reality. This is your paranoid brain telling you ‘they’ are out to get Sony/you. It’s not real.

The reason for the possible perception of this, why you’ve tricked yourself into believing only Sony get called out on timed exclusivity, was explained in my previous posts.
The mention of Tomb raider not only demonstrated clearly that you’re wrong in your way of thinking but also brings to light that that’s the last established ip Xbox has attempted to make timed exclusive. And like you said, it was so long ago.
Where as Sony continue to make known established ip as exclusive - this offers more a perception of Sony being called out because more posts on messaging boards probably jump on it - where as mainstream media outlets are nowhere near as vocal…especially compared to how they were when Xbox had timed exclusivity with a known ip - tomb raider.

Re: The Callisto Protocol Will Have Exclusive PlayStation Content at Launch

Bleachedsmiles

@UltimateOtaku91 you’ve listed indie games and smaller publishers…
And then to back up your paranoia you’ve chosen to list only one from the many 3rd party deals Sony has had with major publishers as well as neglected all the indie timed exclusivity deals they do.
As well as no mention of the difference in exclusivity windows. As well as neglect the exclusivity in content. And exclusivity rights on known established ip.

There’s not even an argument. In fact it actually blows my mind just how often fanboys have this kind of victimhood thing going when anything possibly conceived as negative attaches to their preferred console…especially when their complaints are not only unfounded but pretty damn ridiculous - instead of going off dedicated sites have a look at the contrasting reactions timed exclusivity has gotten, particularly from established ip/devs/publishing houses, on supposedly unbiased sites that report on all platforms. Actual media outlets outside dedicated sites. Their views will always go where the money is.

To cry ‘nobody ever goes after Xbox for timed exclusivity deals’ is simply head scratching and shows such a broken mind at work I can’t even imagine the torment you must go through.
Again, look at the reaction tomb raider got them…look how Xbox changed after that. Look how rarely they even do promotion deals now for 3rd party compared to the 360 days.

Yes, Xbox still do third party deals (more in effort to get games day 1 on gamepass). But hell even when they make their first party games exclusive they get more flack than Sony does with their timed exclusivity third party deals - you telling me Xbox didn’t get more backlash for starfield being exclusive than Sony did for getting timed exclusivity for death proof, ghost Tokyo. Or even making an established ip like Spider-Man exclusive?

Trust me, if next week Indiana jones is revealed to be exclusive to Xbox you’ll have ign, eurogamer etc doing countless piece’s on ‘how is this allowed?’ ‘Is this fair?’ ‘Should it come to PlayStation?’ ‘We’ve asked them if it’s coming to PlayStation folks’ …
Yet a new final fantasy gets? Wolverine gets?

Re: The Callisto Protocol Will Have Exclusive PlayStation Content at Launch

Bleachedsmiles

@UltimateOtaku91 @uptownsoul shut up you tarts! I swear people here have such selective memories. Both get flack for timed exclusivity - do you both honestly not remember how much outrage/backlash tomb raiders timed exclusivity for Xbox got? Trust me when I remind you far more was written about the negatives of that than any PlayStation third party timed exclusivity.
The only reason why PlayStation getting flack over the practice is more prominent right this moment is because they do it far more often with more well established games.

As for exclusive content… the original dead space on ps3 was the same.

Re: PS Plus Games for PS5, PS4 in June 2022 Announced

Bleachedsmiles

The porpers get a bone with God of War. The rest is meh. But the value proposition for plus is high this month - carried by god of war.

Also, remind yourself it could be worse…look at what gold are getting. Not only has super meat boy been on every sub under the sun…it’s also been on gold before.

I do wonder what the quality of plus will be like going forward now their tiers. If it will go the way of gold… personally, sadly, I think that’s inevitable.

Re: Poll: Did Sony's Latest State of Play Livestream Live Up to the Hype?

Bleachedsmiles

Not sure how hyped people were… kept getting told to keep expectations low…so yeah, pretty good chance living up to the hype.

This was a good show if you’re planning on getting psvr.
This was a pretty average show if you’re interest is just in ps5.

What the hell was street fighter 6 trailer about? I was getting excited it was going to have a full on story mode. Also, Ryu needs to get of the peds… he’s gonna end up with some serious mental issues.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI Finally Comes to PS5 in Summer 2023

Bleachedsmiles

Gotta say…the was a disappointment visually for me. Cinematics are awesome as usual. But the gameplay visuals looked a bit ‘drab’…I dunno, something wasn’t doing it for me. Maybe because I’m finally currently playing through ff7 on ps5…guess that had me expecting more.
Least we have a date!

Re: PSVR2's Horizon Call of the Mountain Massively Upgraded in New Teaser

Bleachedsmiles

@Jaz007 Rdr2 would be amazing. But I always remember when dreams got vr support and everybody thought it would be just a case of flipping a switch and all creations work great in VR. Unfortunately games that aren’t designed for VR won’t take into account a sense of scale - what looks fine in flat often will look either way too big or way too small in the headset if not designed from the ground up with VR in mind. I can’t imagine Red dead was designed with future VR in mind.
I’d also love to see GTA in VR. Convinced myself it was gta5 was going to have it supported in the new ps5 version. Such a shame.

Re: PSVR2's Horizon Call of the Mountain Massively Upgraded in New Teaser

Bleachedsmiles

@WaveBoy I think, and I know people won’t like to hear it, but till we have all the big 3 console platforms jump all in with vr we’ll probably going to see psvr2 play out like psvr1 - the ‘AAA’ standard games coming mainly from first party. The rest mostly shovelware and ‘experiences’.
You need to start selling units to the casuals for third party to invest properly in VR - sure, first year or so psvr2 will have Ubisoft and EA and the link involved in some way…but, just like psvr, what happens after the honeymoon period with that support?

I don’t think vr sells to the casual console gamer till there’s no need for a big headset, or a need for it to be attached to the console. But I do think if all platforms are pushing VR it obviously helps keep that support coming and vr growing.

Re: PSVR2's Horizon Call of the Mountain Massively Upgraded in New Teaser

Bleachedsmiles

@KundaliniRising333 yeah I agree. It all comes down to how limited the actual gameplay will be. There’s quite a few really good looking games on psvr but gameplay limitations played more of a hindrance in immersion. Of course technical limitations beyond visuals didn’t help - drifting and tracking issues.

Thankfully not relying on a separate camera will probably solve the drifting and tracking. Hopefully the gameplay in these games will catch up and offer full immersion too. I think re7 is a prime example of something that looks great in vr but basically playing the same game with the ability to freely look around you - rather than be able to interact fully with everything around you. I think that’s why half life was so impressive …a game built from the ground up for vr with AAA visuals that allowed very few limits when interacting with the world it presented. I’d love to see Horizon be more that than say blood of truth or iron man…basically playing through a number of set pieces.

Re: PS Plus' PS1 Games Use Superior NTSC 60Hz Format in Japan

Bleachedsmiles

Can’t see how this will make a difference to what the states gets. What versions did they get with the mini? It’s an easier option for them to offer pal as it covers more languages…which you have to assume is why they opt for it. Charging a premium for it though there’s no excuse that the extra work shouldn’t be done…but, again, what did they get offered with the mini?

Re: Reaction: Why You Shouldn't Worry About Sony's New Strategy

Bleachedsmiles

@get2sammyb They’re travelling to the same destination but at different speeds. That’s the only reason they’re not comparable yet.
Xbox last gen - always online. Tv tv tv. Backwards compatibility. Pc ports. Live services. Gamepass. Day 1 releases. Investment in streaming. ‘Non-organic’ acquisitions.
PlayStation today - always online (effectively an necessity now). Tv tv tv. Pc ports. Live services. Subscriptions. Backward compatibility. ‘Non- organic’ acquisitions.
PlayStation within the next 5 years…do we honestly think it’s not going to be day and date pc ports? Day 1 games released on subscription services? Greater investment in streaming products?

And we all know how berated Xbox got when they started pushing live services. How pc ports would make them redundant. How gamepass gets vilified. Etc etc. We watch the goal posts move daily these days…remember yesterday it was all about ‘organic growth’? You can’t make it up.

Re: Reaction: Why You Shouldn't Worry About Sony's New Strategy

Bleachedsmiles

If nothing else it’s always entertaining watching people chase the ever moving goal posts. Basically if what Xbox is doing today doesn’t excite you then what Sony will do within the next five years won’t either. If Xbox does excite you today then you’re in for a treat within the next five years with PlayStation.

Re: Rumour: Killzone VR Was in Development, Could Have Switched to PSVR2

Bleachedsmiles

This would be awesome in VR. What was the last game sony made for psvr? Iron man?
There should definitely be a lot of first year support for psvr2…but I think I’m gonna wait a bit and see just how much they support it. I say this knowing full well I’ll cave in at some point and buy regardless. But if they start pricing vr games at £70 the whole things going to be a hard pass for me this time round. What would be a big incentive to buy a headset and a subscription upgrade would be placing VR games on their subs this time round - release those day 1.

Re: Sony Pictures Eyes Director Neill Blomkamp to Steer Gran Turismo Movie

Bleachedsmiles

Pretty funny how PlayStations messaging is sounding more and more like those first initial years of Xbox one. I remember the joke of ‘tv tv tv’.

I can’t see how a successful gran turismo movie could be done…all I can imagine is something similar to that classic Need for speed movie we all went out to watch.
I can just hope they make something bombastic and stupid like the fast and furious franchise but have a very serious 10 minute intro about the history of cars. And have no dialogue, only subtitles.

A tv show though…if they move away from any sort of drama and have it more akin to Top gear…I could see that working.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon

Bleachedsmiles

They all will be. And will be day 1 soon enough. I honestly don’t know how anybody could still be in denial about where things are clearly heading. You look at the investments they’ve been making. You look at the things they’ve been saying. You look what they’re currently doing… and some still insist day 1 pc releases are never going to happen. Actively get angry at the mere thought. Good times ahead for those people…

Re: Looks Like Sony Will Stop Making PS4 Games by 2025

Bleachedsmiles

If Spider-Man 2 and wolverine actually are ps5 exclusive then it will depend on how much they sell - if sales are decent then Sony leaves cross gen support for games going forward. If sales of Spider-Man 2 aren’t close to as good as the first one then maybe it will more depend on what’s going on over at Xbox - who will have left cross gen next year, prefering to support it via streaming.

Re: PS Plus Premium's Horizon Forbidden West Trial Lasts Five Hours on PS5, PS4

Bleachedsmiles

I wouldn’t class game trials as an additional perk for the higher tier subs…I think it’s going to end up the main selling point for most. And 5 hours is plenty of time to get a good idea of a game.
Game trials make perfect sense for Sony…just enough to get you hooked without really risking potential sales. It is a shame though that the game trials list will be limited rather than the report of every single games in store having a trial - I have no idea how that would have worked in practicality…but would have offered amazing value to the sub.
I wish we could get a clearer idea on the rules though, and what now is going to be on the service. Obviously we already know not every game is getting 5 hours…some are 2…some you would assume less than that. I wonder if it’s based on percentage of the game in question rather than set windows devs/publishers pick from.
Either way, game trials whilst not as good as full releases day 1 are still a decent selling point for those wanting to try these games but put off by the price tags.

What’s going to be interesting is seeing what effect, if any, they’ll have on day one sales

Re: PS Plus Premium's Horizon Forbidden West Trial Lasts Five Hours on PS5, PS4

Bleachedsmiles

@GusBH When asking for £70 everything should be considered. I personally know, just as gamepass has resulted in me buying less Xbox games, £70 price tags have certainly resulted in me buying less PlayStation 5 titles so far this gen. I’m still patiently waiting for decent sales on vast majority of Sonys first party output on PS5.
Gametrials are definitely needed and welcome

Re: PS Plus Premium's Cloud Streaming Does Not Support PS5 Games

Bleachedsmiles

‘Luckily’ they’ll only be a handful of ps5 exclusive games on the service for the foreseeable future…I imagine you can still stream ps4 versions of god of war etc?

Streaming is a great addition though. And the sooner Sony have it figured out the better. It’s made games so much more accessible on gamepass…trying them before downloading them. There’s just no downside to having that option…especially when games are getting bigger, requiring longer downloads and you’re playing with around 667gbs on a ps5!

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta Coming First to PS5, PS4

Bleachedsmiles

@ATaco No different to Bethesda only releasing games on PlayStation since Xbox got them so far. Actually, this one probably worked out better…get a remake out of the way, then once the deals gone through gamepass gets the next actual new cod day 1… least you won’t have to pay £70 for it this end if it makes you feel better

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta Coming First to PS5, PS4

Bleachedsmiles

@OrtadragoonX @hoffa007 Heh have you been complaining about betas coming out first on PlayStation so far?

They, as well as others, have been doing that for awhile where preorders grant access to betas. Yeah it’s dumb but, like I said it’s not the first time, must be helping those preorders. I guess you can always cancel afterwards
