Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 431

Col_McCafferty

Finishing Cyberpunk 2077 this weekend, done most of the side missions including chatting to a vending machine (!) but still a lot of content left. It feels like it's time to wrap.up V's story and then move onto something new. What that will be I'm not sure, it's between GotG and Resi 8.

Also playing more GT 7, doing the circuit experiences at present. Fun, challenging and big rewards up for grabs.

Have a good one, folks!

Re: Poll: Which Final Fantasy Game are You Most Looking Forward to?

Col_McCafferty

Is this even a question?

😉

Tbh I'm surprised that it's relatively close between 16 and 7r but for me it's the latter all the way.

I was brand new to this series and now I'm a FF fan for life. I knew of the original VII, that it's a legendary game and that it had a huge fanbase but I didn't play it back in the day nor did anyone else I knew. Kinda regret that now but perhaps that's worked out nicely, means I'm not bothered by the direction they're taking with the new ones.

Rebirth is a Day One purchase for me, but I'm definitely interested in the other two games and will play them both.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Is Remake 2, PS5 Exclusive, Out Winter 2023

Col_McCafferty

I don't really want to buy an Xbox but if I want to play Starfield and TES 6 then at some point I will have to.

Not interested in PC gaming and my TV won't get the GP app (nor am I up for unreliable streaming for gaming), so this is my only option.

Xbox players really do think they ought to have ALL the games and preferably Day One on Game Pass. If you're a big Final Fantasy fan surely you would prefer playing on PS anyway?

I think it's a load of fuss about nothing but that's the internet for ya!

Re: Video: In Defence of The Last of Us' PS5 Remake

Col_McCafferty

Jesus Christ we're going round in circles here!

Pay it or don't. Buy it or leave well alone. Stop with the bloody outrage all the time.

The development of the remake hasn't impacted upon the development of any new title from ND. And if you have no interest in this game, good for you. I'm probably not interest in what you like either.

😝

Re: Video: In Defence of The Last of Us' PS5 Remake

Col_McCafferty

Also, the cynic in me wonders if someone at Sony realised that they couldn't release Part II on PC until they released the first and the remaster, as good as it is, wouldn't cut it on PC.

Maybe it's also in part to build up the hype regarding Factions 2 or whatever it ends up being called.

"The Last of All of Us" could be a good title.

😉

Re: Video: In Defence of The Last of Us' PS5 Remake

Col_McCafferty

I replayed the first one only last August so need more time to pass before playing the remake. I definitely will at some point, then follow it up with Part II.

The price isn't right BUT like all things you have a choice and wait a while and it will come down in price. Unlike some other things in life such as petrol or mars bars.

😝

Re: Xbox Appeared to Embargo PS5, PS4 Versions of Some Showcase Games

Col_McCafferty

@I_Go_by_Many_Names he did nothing more than convince some of the higher-ups within MS to splash the cash on some shiny new toys. He isn't responsible for a single great game coming into being.

He's a fraud, fake and full of *****. Can't stand his stupid smug grin on his stupid smug face.

Other than all of that though, yeah he's pretty great.

😉

Re: Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 PS5 Versions Available to Download Now

Col_McCafferty

@WallyWest yes I have. I wasn't as blown away by it as many others but that could be in part because I played it after 2 & 3 remakes, plus the setting didn't feel Resident Evil to me. It was still a good game with many memorable moments, just lacked the polish of the remakes.

8 looks absolutely bonkers and 4 remake something truly epic. I think the latter will be a Day One purchase for me.

Re: Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 PS5 Versions Available to Download Now

Col_McCafferty

As a newcomer to this series, all I can say is that Resident Evil games always deliver BUT I had planned on playing Village this summer so this leaves me in a bit of a quandary.

I much prefer third person but I've got a horror itch that needs to be scratched and perhaps I could save the DLCs when I replay it.

Choices, choices.

Re: Reaction: PS Plus’ Revamp Is Hours Away, But Sony Still Has a Game Pass Problem

Col_McCafferty

As others have said, nothing shown makes me think I need an Xbox right now but in a year or two time? That's a different matter entirely.

I'd rather just have the one console but a good game is a good game and it looks as if Xbox are building a decent library on Game Pass.

Those billions and billions AND billions of dollars spent look like they might be finally paying off.

😉

Still give me a Sony AAA sp 'cinematic' game over anything Xbox showed today, including Starfield.

Re: Reaction: PS Plus’ Revamp Is Hours Away, But Sony Still Has a Game Pass Problem

Col_McCafferty

@Deadhunter maybe you need to play better games.

😉

As for Game Pass, it's quantity not quality that rules. Most games shown look alright, nothing must play about them. For some people that's fine, after all most of the stuff Netflix produces is ok or average at best but drop enough new content and the peasants will be happy.

Stray is coming to the new Plus, I'm sure that won't be last game that releases day one on this modified subscription service.

Apart from Starfield and Forza, none of the Xbox games can rival the AAA releases that Sony specialise in. For now anyway.

Sony will be fine, give the new Plus time to grow and evolve. Expecting it from day one to be the same as Game Pass feels a tad naive and also self-entitled.

Re: A Plague Tale: Requiem Still Set for 2022 in New Trailer

Col_McCafferty

@Danloaded I enjoyed the show but they didn't show a lot that I would buy if on PS. But then the main draw is Game Pass and quantity over quality.

Getting this game Day One on GP is a bit of a coup though, perhaps I'll play it when it ends up one day on the new Plus service.

I liked the look of Forza Motorsport and Starfield and one or two others, but in reality the most recent State of Play was better although of course most of the games shown there are multi-platform anyway.

Shame Kojima has gone green but he wanted complete freedom to make what he wants and to publish where he wants, so can't knock him for accepting the huge sums of money MS are giving him.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 430

Col_McCafferty

@Bigtuna515 hey snap!, I'm playing both those games as well.

😉

Got a feeling I'm getting close to the end of the main story in Cyberpunk 2077, so will take my time and do some side stuff as I'm definitely not ready to finish it yet. It's been a bit of a slow burner at times, but I have reached the point where I can say that I'm a big fan of this game.

In GT 7 I have completed the Licence tests so doing some circuit experiences, missions and Menu stuff. Love it, perfect game for a quick 30 minute blast or so.

Also, looking forward to the Xbox show tomorrow. I think they're going to have some real bangers on show.

Have a good one, folks!

Re: Poll: Was Summer Game Fest Live a Show to Remember?

Col_McCafferty

People moan there are too many third person games.

I say, really? It seems to me there aren't enough and it's FP games that are the majority.

Yeah, not a great deal that was any good. Callisto at the beginning and The Last of Us at the end. Everything else (with the exception of one or two of the Indies) was really poor or of little interest to me.

Roll on the Xbox showcase, no seriously I mean it. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Forces PS4 Players to Buy Cross-Gen Bundle

Col_McCafferty

@carlos82 it's ridiculous, at least we all know that games will always go down in price. Eventually.

Or be added to a paid subscription service.

This situation isn't ideal but we have a choice, nobody is forcing us to pay for a game. Everyone needs to eat and pay for electricity and gas etc etc.

The world feels really broken and has done for a while. Gaming is an escape from this.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 429

Col_McCafferty

Still Cyberpunk 2077 and GT 7, the excellent State of Play on Thursday has me thinking what to play next. The plan was to give GotG a go (on a Marvel kick at present) but tempted to go for Resi 8 instead. Not this weekend though, the adventures of V and trying to get that final S Licence will take up my time!

No Royalist so definitely not celebrating this Jubilee nonsense, but I hope those that do have a good time and everyone else.

Re: Poll: What Was Your Favourite PS5, PS4 Game Shown at State of Play?

Col_McCafferty

Stray is my No.1 game shown last night, indeed if GoW Ragnarok isn't released this year than Stray is my most anticipated remaining game of 2022.

Really liked a lot of other things shown but especially the Big 2: Final Fantasy 16 and Resi 4 remake.

Good variety on show but still not enough to cater for all tastes, maybe missing a FPS or online game for some.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales Are Swinging Onto PC

Col_McCafferty

They made their bed when releasing HZD on PC and it was obviously not going to stop there.

I think they should have followed Nintendo's example by keeping their exclusives 'exculsive' to their own platform, but they've fallen into Microsoft's trap by thinking they need to get a few more sales on PC. Their games don't even sell in big numbers so can't imagine the profits are really that high. It seems a bit pointless really, PC players haven't embraced their games and it all it has done is to dilute their brand and the specialness of their games.

If you want to play Sony games then do like the rest of us and buy a PlayStation. That used to be the way anyway.
