Re: First Final Fantasy 16 Review Awards a Near-Perfect Score

Drawfull

@Michael2008ish It's the only one I've done 'one and done' on. The only reason I haven't replayed VIIR is because I want to play it again with the second part ready and waiting. ONce I understood how the classic mode worked, I had a blast with it, depiste it being action-oriented.

Re: Poll: Was This Sony's Best PlayStation Showcase Yet?

Drawfull

GaaS/Live Service stuff isn't my thing, but I get why Sony would want some of the cash. The problem is that realistically, there can only be one or two GaaS that would be successful at a level Sony would want existing at the same time in gaming. It boggles the mind that they'd develop so many simultaneously. Especially judging by gamers' comments here and elsewhere, they're almost universally derided.

The rest of the PlayStation Showcase (not a State of Play, for those defending it) was bad.

PSVR2 is dead (well, mine is - it's seen 20 minutes of use) and absolutely should have released without the cable, regardless of cost.

The style of games that PS is synonymous with just don't seem to be on the horizon any more. I'm super disappointed.

Remakes, sequels, rip-offs and GaaS. What's good about that?

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PS5) - Fantastic Sequel Is Bigger and Better in Every Way

As others have mentioned, the frame dips are anything but minor (down to 15fps in resolution mode, sub 30 in performance mode) - and I'd take issue with the 'inconsistent visuals' too. They're consistently a blurred, horrible mess. Even the screen shots on this page are really poor.

PS isn't the only site to sing this game's praises but reviews need to hold unfinished games to account, else what's the point? They are becoming as untrustworthy as the developers.

Re: Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge - Enhanced Edition (PSVR2) - An Inconsistent Adventure

@munstre They really aren't. Crack on. All the mainstream VR reviewers are praising the hardware, bemoaning the software.

But maybe all the newbies know better?

Like I said, crack on.

Edit: for the avoidance of doubt, I have this coming, I am 100% behind PSVR in all its forms. But we don't need to sugarcoat subpar stuff, just cos it's Sony.

At a 600 quid entry, I'd be surpised if any more than 20% was 'new to VR' as well. You do you, I'll do me. Mwah.

@thefourfoldroot1 That was kinda my point, I agree with you.

I preferred NMS when it was a more, er, basic game but I am looking forward to Switchback, obviously the Moss games will have been played by a lot of VR users by now, but that doesn't make them bad games.

I guess I was hoping for PSVR2's HLA. I hope it'll come. TLOU could work really well in VR for the most part, for example. Actually, Sony!? Make ND do that!

@thefourfoldroot1

I agree with that, but for anyone that's been in VR for years, you can't argue that the launch line up is pretty underwhelming. I am looking forward to the big three titles, and I haven't played Village apart from its introduction section so that'll be great hopefully.

The lack of Beat Saber at launch remains a bizarre omission though - even though, I'll probably use my modded Quest 1 for it anyway as I've hundreds of customs on it.

I share a concern mentioned by Digital Foundry going forward though in that if the headset doesn't get the foothold in the market now are big third party devs gonna jump in post-launch and focus on it, or are they gonna continue starting with Quest (2, not pro) and scaling from there? Most launch titles are either Quest/PSVR ports that have already had the hard yards put into their development you'd think.

I'm a VR advocate, and I'm sure I'll get enough hours out of GT and Village to justify the entry cost, but I do have reservations about this headset's long term prospects.

Re: Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge - Enhanced Edition (PSVR2) - An Inconsistent Adventure

Looks like my pre-order is going to arrive late; in the EU PSVR2 was on general sale as opposed to Sony only. I used my preferred games/pc place and they've changed the delivery date to the 24th.

Nevertheless, the launch line up of games has looked underwhelming and Quest's influence on the genre (I love my Quests) is looking like it could be a problem for a while.

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Drawfull

@FuriousMachine Beat Saber can be played 'seated' in the sense that even with the turning songs you're standing in one spot. When a game says not seated, it means it expects you to physically move around the space in which you're playing, so you'll see games that require you to have a 2.5mx2.5m playspace or whatever.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Final Fantasy XV on PS4?

Drawfull

I really like the side quests. But then farming and grinding is my thing, and I could never get into W3.

For those that are not there yet (minor spoilers) there's a lucrative chain of quests at Chapter 3, guy down from the car park, will get you 80,000 gil and lots of EXP and they're easy. Maybe an hour for the lot that are available then.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?

Drawfull

@JaxonH Excellent thanks. That's the rationale I'd heard too, but I also read that when OG PS4 launched whilst it was rated at HDMI 1.4, it could already technically handle the as of then unannounced spec, but I guess that bodes well for whatever's in the PSVR if I put my glass half-full hat on.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?

@rjejr I love UC4, I'm sure you will too - it's simply a great game. I have R&C but it's not really my cha, so to speak. I've high hopes and massive worries about FFXV, but we're both in that boat!
