Re: Video: PlayStation VR Comes with an Absurd Number of Cables

@Boerewors "Will Netflix support a cinema mode on day one and will the Blu Ray player? If so, will it have a fixed pov which allows you to wear it away from the camera (read: lying down)? "

Apparently there are three 'cinema modes' from day one. The largest is equivalent to 230" I think, and that one does not work lying down. I think it's the middle one (130" IIRC), that has the fixed POV. I don't know if Netflix will have a specific App, but cinema mode is reported to be supported by it. Same for BR.

Does anyone know if I can use the Wireless 2 headset with this, or does it have to be essentially tethered to the breakout box? @get2sammyb ? EDIT, Never mind - it needs to use the 3.5mm jack into the headset button bit.

Re: Feature: PlayStation VR Has the Power to Elicit Real-World Reactions

Drawfull

For those thinking it may flop:

Sony are looking at 2,000,000 users from the get go (based on 5%), users that have nothing to buy apart from the launch stuff (so they will buy). Developers would be mad not to sign up for that, and from the titles we've seen nothing looks. Maybe a couple of average ones, but nothing terrible. It will be a success because the PS4 install base is massive and it's half the price more or less of the other offerings.

It is certainly not the final vision of VR, but it will sell comparatively bucketloads compared to the Rift and Vive (apparently hovering around the 2-300k units sold mark). More units sold on platform = more devs willing to invest and that mushrooms. At the moment there's no 'new' AAA stuff coming out for it, so their budgets aren't going to be in AAA territory. I really think it will be well-supported and succeed.

Re: Video: Is Battlezone the Best Game on PlayStation VR?

I have it on order, but not 'cos of any particular hype. I looked at RIGS and this, pre-ordered both since they are 'full games' then changed RIGS to Tumble. Keep checking the store for the DCVR pre-order, but it isn't there for me yet. Those will be my three day ones.

@Neolit am I right in thinking Until Dawn is better with the move controllers? I haven't bought those yet, since they're not available yet on .es amazon.

Re: Buckle Up with DriveClub VR on 13th October

@bimobazinga I read somewhere else this morning (and can't find it, though am sure it was on PSLS) that existing season pass holders will get a discount. So not free, but better than nowt. To be fair, I bought the full thing well after launch for basically naff all, so it's not the end of the world to me if I have to find 40 euros.

Re: Soapbox: Uncharted 4's Higher Difficulties Kill the Joy of Combat

Certainly agree with the article. Playing through on crushing there are three or four areas with massive spikes in difficulty / forced stealth - even as early as the first 30s of the prison break, where stealth is pretty much hopeless and you're virtually a one-hit kill; having to restart countless times in a game of this length isn't exactly fun to me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 135

Drawfull

I finally got the platinum on FFX remaster, but whilst I still need to max out the inventory I'm a bit bored of grinding gil in the arena.

So, with that in mind I'll probably go back to the simpler? times that were 80s and do some R-Type Dimensions and eventually pass stage 6 on a console.

Re: Review: RIVE (PS4)

No prob, I've had my eye on this and DOGOS for the past couple of weeks, plus another one that I can't remember the name of (It's not out yet), but for £20 I may get both next week. It's been a heavy couple of months on Wallet gaming-wise.

@themcnoisy Dustia is a rare game, in the westersand at the beginning of the game.

Go thru the westersand gate and bear right, you'll need to kill or avoid two wolves* but you'll come to an exit in the north east. Before you go thru, hit yourself to get below ten percent HP (red numbers). The minute you enter that zone, Dustia will spawn and he's undead. Throw a phoenix down at hime and he dies - you need to (try and get the loot) back out of the screen before the XP etc shows. If you manage that, he'll respawn. Another phoenix Down, another 1000XP and repeat. You do need to grab the loot to give you the money to buy more phoenix downs, but it's easy if you're on wait mode (press x when he dies, see if there's a drop, wait for it to hit the floor, unpause, run forward, grab loot, exit). There's many vids and walkthroughs of it, but it makes your life miles easier, especially if you want high level equipment early, or just an easy playrhrough.

*if you're chaining obviously, don't kill them - well you'll run out pf phoenix downs, but you can sell your loot. You can run all the way west thru the westersand to the merchant before the sand sea, which I don't do, but that will keep your chain, or just go back to rabanastre, sell, buy PDs and go again. It's minutes, literally.

Re: You'll See More of Final Fantasy XII PS4 Remaster at TGS Next Month

@themcnoisy If you're bothered about the grind you can hit mid 20 levels at the start of the game in 30 minutes with Dustia, which sets you up for over half the title... I hope they don't remove that er, oversight, from the remaster (I don't know if you could do it in IZJS, but you know what I mean)

Can't wait for this, have probably 1500 or more hours in the original but I'd love to start again.

Re: Feature: PlayStation Now Review - The State of Cloud Gaming in 2016

I pay for it, then don't, then want to play R-Type again so, do*. It does work really well. My home net is fast enough plenty, but even at work (they have 40mbs down, not sure of up) it's great.

I agree it really is the future, but I wonder what this future will do to the PS brand.

*You used to have to pay an extra rental fee for some games, including RTD, but that seems to have vanished.

The only other neg I can think of is that Sony reserve the right to remove games at any time - there was some fallout when FFXIII disappeared a few months ago, when people had invested dozens of hours into the title.

Still It is great, especially if you have a VITA, or want to use a PC. Don't have a compatible PSTV.

Re: Review: Assetto Corsa (PS4)

@morrisseymuse I don't think anyone was vile? I was shocked only to the fact that PS dont have access to a wheel set-up, and I think the review should have reflected that. I just posted a link to a wheel-based review and it's been deleted. It didn't slag off this review, unless 'a second opinion' contravenes something, but surely after the demise of PX... oh I can't be bothered. There's staff asking the users of the site to buy them a wheel and here I go again getting annoyed about it. Life's too short.
