@GorosBat There are plenty of people who are against it even from PlayStation fans, myself included. There are games I want to play that are exclusive to one or another, just don't expect to see such complaints here on a primarily PlayStation website, but I assure you it happens elsewhere.
Just like you don't see people complain about third party exclusives on PureXbox. In fact I've seen them cheer and gloat for such announcements before.
@GorosBat
So what about Goldeneye and Indiana Jones? Two third party IP's that Xbox doesn't own yet exclusive to Xbox? Let's not pretend Sony are the only ones who do this.
Also, did you know that Epic was going to port the Gears of War trilogy to PlayStation so Microsoft bought it to prevent that? They're not so innocent.
You know, RetroFighters actually make pretty good controllers, maybe Sony could simply officially licence them because let's face it, they're not very good at making controllers, the triggers on Xbox controllers are better in my opinion. I held a Series X controller recently and it felt very good to hold, the stick placement doesn't bother me but the controller felt of better quality, it's hard to understand why though, that's just what I thought in the moment.
I'm waiting for the release of the RetroFighters PS2 controller coming out in September. It looks very high quality and I still play my PS2 regularly.
I used to be someone who talked down about Xbox still using batteries but I changed my mind recently. Due to the price of new gen controllers it got me thinking I wouldn't need two DualSence's if they had batteries that u could recharge in a wall socket while I play. (I don't like having a wire where I can help it).
I'm really upset there supposedly is no physical release. I hate going digital. Would love to have had them sat next to my copies of P5 and P5R (yes I have both, I know, crazy).
Looks like I have to hope Limited Run get to make a physical release. Or possible physical releases for Switch. P5/R are physical, and so is the Dancing All Night collection. Atlus being Atlus again. 😪
Yeah, given how 'free upgrades' have been handled so far it probably won't be. They'll likely charge an 'upgrade fee' which won't be worth it for a turn based game that doesn't need a frame boost. Sony probably have some say in upgrade offers and we all know how greedy they have become. I personally won't bother if there's a fee, nothing wrong with the PS4 entry.
Then again, there might not be an upgrade at all. They might charge full price.
Pretty scummy tactic when you think about it. Some People will be watching and think they're exclusive to Xbox without checking otherwise and then think they have no other option but to play them on Xbox/GamePass.
And with Microsoft 'forcing' it that shows desperation I think. They know GamePass is their last chance to stay relevant which is why they've also been buying big publishers to ensure content, although that's not going so well with barely anything in 2022 and most first party game releases are pretty mediocre so far. And if it's true that they paid for chip priority then it also adds to it.
Well that calms me down a bit. Nothing else at the Xbox event did anything for me and Starfield looks and sounds very uninspiring, a Bethesda version of NMS with their 1000 planets that are procedurally generated besides a few. So now I'm back on the thought process that Xbox has nothing I want, yet.
I really hope Nintendo get ports of these Persona games too. And I hope we get physical releases, that's my last concern. I'll likely double dip on the set between Switch and PS5. (Technically quadruple since I have the Vita and PC version too.)
I just don't know what is going on over in PlayStation HQ these days, it's absolutely bizarre.
I mean they had a showcase last week and the only thing they had to really talk about was how many games they're giving away to PC. Nothing of note for the console platform itself.
And now a set of Persona games hitting Xbox before PlayStation and that's assuming they even arrive at all.
I'm certain Microsoft's money is at work here, blocking PlayStation versions no doubt, there's no way Atlus would port games to Xbox first if not for that. I guarantee no fan on Xbox will say anything though even though they have been and still are outraged over FF7R. Because they are hypocrites, no attack intended but it is true.
That being said given how Sony seem so quiet, complacent and seemingly more focused on PC than even their own console makes me question why I have a PlayStation and regret the launch day purchase of the PS5.
The Series X has been in stock for a month over on my online retailers website and I am so tempted to ditch the PS5 for it. I feel Sony just can't compete anymore with Microsoft throwing their cash about and you always wonder which publisher they're buying next too.
After the success of the PS4 I think Sony are just sitting on their hands thinking they're untouchable. And it's going to cost them a lot of customers when they normally dominate almost every generation they've been a part of. I think I might be done with them soon after being with them since the launch of PS1.
@pip_muzz I would blame all the people that keep crying out for these remakes. Calling for TLOU and Bloodborne etc, games from last gen that look great already that don't need a remake. Miniscule differences that can be achieved with an update.
Coupled with Sony's stupid decisions, complacency, watering down the platform by pimping their games and Jim 'the accountant' Ryan PlayStation will never be the same again.
They've lost their Japanese legacy thanks to commiefornia and just chase money now.
Fortunately for me, when, not if, gaming goes completely down the toilet by next gen. Live services, no exclusives, constant 'remasters' MTX, NFT's, broken and incomplete games. I'll be going back to my PS1/2/3 and enjoying the glory days of great diversive games that had passion and imagination. I've got enough games to last a lifetime.
I hope all of you do too because gaming as we knew it is very nearly over. Cynical? Yes. But also true.
Ah, another one of our games that you're giving away?
Thanks for the free game Jim. Clearly you don't care about your primary customers anymore so I don't care about your platform since there is no reason to own it.

If they trigger anti-trust legislation over acquisitions they can easily be blocked from a buyout due to unfair competition since no one else can match that spending power. They were/are already being scrutinized for Actiblizz and while it will go through it's been a bumpy road. It wasn't until they said some games will remain multiplat that it looked like a sure thing and if you followed the months and months of articles surrounding it you would have seen that.
Unless I'm misinterpreting your tone you sound like you're fanboying with your comments.
@kpenders Did you know that in the 90's they had deals blocked by the FTC due to anti-trust legislation regarding Windows software? It's happened before. The FTC had doubts about letting the Actiblizz deal go through due to CoD being one of the biggest franchises until Phil stated it will continue to be a multiplat. They're not doing that out of kindness because they know it would attract a major portion of consumers to their platform if they had the chance.
The market share percentage itself is irrelavent. It's the effect of the case.
In a way a statement like this could bite them on the butt big time in the future. If they say this now and don't commit to publishing a reasonable set of titles on PlayStation after the acquisition is complete then the FTC will likely be less trusting to allow any future big acquisitions pass for them in the future. They'll likely attract anti-trust legislation.
Oh wait, silly me. It's a complete load of rubbish to get the Actiblizz deal to go through.
Oh, what's that? You really mean it? Ok, so I guess you'll be announcing Goldeneye for Xbox and PS next week too huh because you don't want to take games away from everyone else.
I bet all the people from the Xbox camp who have been saying "Kojima is overrated" for years suddenly fall silent with the hope this might be exclusive.
I doubt it will though, Kojima is and always has been very close with Sony. He said before how he will continue working with them because they allow him to fulfill his visions without interference and saw no reason to end their relationship. Likely a multiplat. Or timed at best.
I don't miss it at all.

I may sound cynical, but good riddance to E3. In the age and reach of the internet E3 is a relic.

As a matter of fact I'm a highly depressed, Autistic, Epileptic, Partially Blind (will eventually be completely), Half Deaf, socially anxious man who never leaves home with no family (dead) or 'real' friends and gaming is his only release. So, no I don't work for the Samaritans.
When I can see it going down the toilet thanks to lack of worthwhile platforms, services, microtransactions, NFT's and consolidation I think I have a right to be angry.
Loved the first one, day one buy. I was surprised at EA for making a single player game. I bet they were also surprised to learn that single player games sell.
Watched the first two episodes of Kenobi today, loved it and can't wait for next week!
Every movie or TV show that ever came out from a game has been absolute garbage in my opinion. I have zero interest in them and think it's a waste of money and resources.
@SuperPotato316
The Switch is far more capable than that and they are both heavily solidified with their Japanese audiences. Just because Microsoft were trying to support a console release with Sega over 20 years ago due to their desire to muscle their way into the games industry doesn't mean they are closer. Their documentary can say otherwise but history shows more favour to their Japanese heritage than western.
It is known that Microsoft avoided releasing a console back then because after Games For Windows Live failed when Steam entered the market they tried elsewhere. First attempting to buy Nintendo, then approaching Sony and finally helping with the Dreamcast. None worked and so the Xbox was born.
Sega work very closely with Nintendo and to an extent Sony, while Xbox fans still plead for many releases that never come. Particularly from Atlus and until recently Yakuza for years. Catherine full body never came, even the most recent Persona spinoff. Or any mainline Persona game.
Do you know how Yakuza was born? The first was published by Sony on PS2 (not owned) after Sega rejected it during the merger with Sammy (look it up) and Atlus have always worked very closely with Sony both prior to Sega buying them and still now more than anyone else.
These days they work very closely with Nintendo with Sonic appearing in many collaborations with Super Mario and Smash Bros. And they're now dipping their toes in the movie business.
Microsoft beyond more westernised appealing games are often left out in the cold hence the continued calling from fans for their Japanese games. Microsoft are the last ones on their radar.
Sony now becoming more westernised, and Microsoft being exactly that and despite a very small recent headway never having a real presence in Japan would both ruin Sega. Nintendo really is the best fit if it were to happen to simply protect them from those two.
There is only one acquisition I want to see, and even though they said they're not interested in acquisitions. It's Nintendo acquiring Sega. For one reason and one reason only, to stop Sony and particularly Microsoft from ruining them.
I know that locks them down but it's better than either of those two. And Sega work very closely with Nintendo anyway. Even though I'm against consolidation they're both Japanese companies and understand each other.
Gosh, please don't let either of the other two make an offer.
@dBackLash I didn't say it didn't sell. But it appeared on a torrent site within 24 hours of appearing on Steam. Because I reported it to Sony's anti-piracy team.
I kept seeing comments on its page saying "thanks for the free game, Sony".
There are many PC players that don't pay for games which is why I wouldn't give them anything.
And by 2025 you're going to lose a lot of your player base because dedicating resources to chasing greedy MTX filled platforms over quality is going to impact your great single player games. And why bother with PC? they're a bunch of thieves. I saw GoW being torrented less than 24 hours after you launched it on Steam.
Your quality first party, single player games are the reason a lot of us stick around. Tread carefully Sony because if the quality is affected then your profit isn't going to matter without customers.
With all your recent ridiculous mind baffling and insane decisions I am a hairline close to switching back to Xbox and dumping my PS5. Even your first party games won't be enough for me to keep forgiving you.
@huyi They have apparently confirmed the games can be bought on the store if you don't want the service and I've seen some of the pricing, I think it was here at around £4 each. If you bought any classics on PS3 then those will be downloadable without charge.
I would prefer my discs but atleast I don't have to subscribe because I'm against services. More so now with the news of Sony's absolute shambles of their launch of the new one.
@Saitama117
I think that's a bit disingenuous.
.... The Titanic sank much more smoothly than this.
...And the Titanic still has a respected reputation. 🤫
@NEStalgia.
Thanks for the clarification. Still all confusing as hell and it makes me worry about purchasing and stacking cards in the future to save a few quid. I'm not trying to cheat or take advantage of a loophole but when the shop sells them on a sale it's okay to buy them, it's reasonable. I only ever buy the PSplus and don't bother with PSnow.
I think this is the most anti-consumer thing Sony have ever done, and I've never actually called them that before but it's outrageous. I'd say it's probably the second most anti-consumer thing I've ever seen in gaming since I started playing 30 years ago. They need to watch out.
@get2sammyb
Wow. People in suits sat in board rooms just don't get it do they?
They're so out of touch that they need to find a way to liaise with their customers and understand how things work for 'normal' (for lack of a better word) people.
So, do we know if they have stopped allowing us to stack subscriptions? I buy the cards from shops, normally during a little sale and for years I normally buy about 3 or 4 for a little saving. In 2018 I bought four years for £139.40, which through Sony would have cost £200.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the insanity following my recent comment but upon reading #Update2 again are they seriously charging people their full stacked term in advance?
So if you have say, three years of essential and want to try premium you have to upgrade to three years of premium? (I am actually asking)
If that's the case, Why? Why can't you just select a term, pay the term fee and allow it to revert back to essential and continue your time limit until you want to upgrade again?
Example. *Three years of Essential stacked. *Want to try Premium for one year. Pay the remaining £50
Revert back to your remaining essential tier upon expiration of premium unless opting to upgrade again.
It can be done simply by it asking "how long would you like to upgrade? Please select your tier." [One Month] [Three Months] [One Year] Seriously Sony it's not hard. I'm sorry if my understanding is correct then your service is going to fail. You've already lost.
Btw, can you still stack PSplus cards bought from shops? Or have they blocked that now?
Oh wow, Sony what were you thinking? You want your GamePass competitor, your all digital future and your live service dream and your greed literally almost killed it in one day?! The future is scary.
Who is making the decisions over there? They must be a complete moron, I mean are they actually trying to destroy PlayStation? How can you go from the dominance of PS4 to being completely clueless?
I'm just flabbergasted, how is this possible!? Have they just simply become too greedy and complacent? Is it all Jim 'idiot' Ryan?
Sorry, ranting but these are the thoughts swimming in my head right now.
In trying to compete the only thing they're going to achieve us giving Microsoft more customers. Idiots.
@huyi
Yeah, true. However since the confirmation of the games being purchasable separately for around £4 each it hardly breaks the bank for the few that I would play on PS5 just for trophy support.
For the rest I still have my discs and will keep them safe. Not that I'm defending them. This is why I always encourage anyone I know to keep their old consoles and games, don't rely on a corporation to provide you anything.
If a subscription was the only way to play them then I wouldn't do it. I'm not subscribing to this, or GamePass or anything that appears in the future.
Trophies please! I still have my physical copies but since I can't use them on PS5 (still have PS1/2) I'll happily buy it again (not subscribing to a service. Ever) for trophies.
@HammerKirby3
They were over SCART and S-Video but we're using HDMI and that can't carry 240p so they will be using 480/576i, the PS3 did the same conversion with the classic games played on it. And most modern TV's no longer support 240p either which is why gamers that use retro consoles resort to the likes of RetroTink and OSSC.
@IonMagi Already getting confused over the ridiculous naming of this service. But still, they said the second tier was PS4/5 games and the third was everything and classics added. This clearly shows some PS4 titles have been held back. What is going on here?
Wait, why are some PS4 titles being held back into the 'Extra' tier? I thought the second tier was for the PS4/5 list and 'Extra' gets all that and classic games.
While I won't be subscribing to a service I am a little excited to be able to purchase and play the classic titles. Even though I have a collection of physical PS1, 2, and 3 games I don't mind buying them again.
If Sony can really put effort into porting a large library of classics that would bolster console sales massively I think. When they are more widely available of course.
Their classic games have a special place in a lot of people's hearts. They need to make the facts of the backwards compatibility well known to be a success. That means actually get people who know how to PR properly. Do a Phil Spencer and make sure the moon can practically hear it rather than the building across the road.
@Rural-Bandit
At the end of the day the gamers suffer with games being split between platforms with third party buyouts. As for Microsoft's claims of not competing with Sony, if that were true they wouldn't take the once third party games away from other platforms, they are competing with Sony no matter what PR statement they try to push. They're both in the same market, both competing for market share.
We don't know that Microsoft are 'saving' these companies because no one else has come forward or near these big buyouts on the same level. It's all just excuses to buy out the industry. In many ways, Microsoft are doing what they accuse the others of, taking games away from other people.
I actually would be in favour of these other tech giants buying these companies, atleast the potential is there that they might still be third party releases. Like Disney with licencing Star Wars games.
It's all just bad for gamers, in the end we lose, Microsoft are not saints or saviours.

Loved the first one, day one buy. I was surprised at EA for making a single player game. I bet they were also surprised to learn that single player games sell.
Watched the first two episodes of Kenobi today, loved it and can't wait for next week!
News on KotOR next please.
Re: Poll: Do You Care About PlayStation TV Shows?
Every movie or TV show that ever came out from a game has been absolute garbage in my opinion. I have zero interest in them and think it's a waste of money and resources.
Too each his own though.
Re: Sony 'Not at All Finished' Growing PlayStation Studios via Acquisitions
@Rafie
Don't get me wrong I'd rather they stay independant too but in an age with all this consolidation I want those two to stay far away from them.
Re: Sony 'Not at All Finished' Growing PlayStation Studios via Acquisitions
@SuperPotato316
Re: Sony 'Not at All Finished' Growing PlayStation Studios via Acquisitions
There is only one acquisition I want to see, and even though they said they're not interested in acquisitions. It's Nintendo acquiring Sega.
For one reason and one reason only, to stop Sony and particularly Microsoft from ruining them.
I know that locks them down but it's better than either of those two. And Sega work very closely with Nintendo anyway. Even though I'm against consolidation they're both Japanese companies and understand each other.
Gosh, please don't let either of the other two make an offer.
Re: 72% of PS Plus Subscribers Satisfied with Service, Says Sony
@TheCollector316
Loud enough for them to hear it.
Re: 72% of PS Plus Subscribers Satisfied with Service, Says Sony
Yeah, I dunno about that after the mass outrage. Sounds like damage control to me.
Re: Around 20% of Sony's Output Could Be Mobile by 2025
@Blaze215
I agree with you. I won't be buying a PS6 and that's if one even comes into existence.
The Series X is in stock right now at my favourite online retailer and I'm so tempted to buy it because Sony are pushing me away.
Re: Around 20% of Sony's Output Could Be Mobile by 2025
@dBackLash
I didn't say it didn't sell.
Re: Around 20% of Sony's Output Could Be Mobile by 2025
And by 2025 you're going to lose a lot of your player base because dedicating resources to chasing greedy MTX filled platforms over quality is going to impact your great single player games.
Re: Rumour: Looks Like PS1 Classic Dino Crisis Is Joining the PS Plus Premium Lineup
@huyi
They have apparently confirmed the games can be bought on the store if you don't want the service and I've seen some of the pricing, I think it was here at around £4 each. If you bought any classics on PS3 then those will be downloadable without charge.
I would prefer my discs but atleast I don't have to subscribe because I'm against services. More so now with the news of Sony's absolute shambles of their launch of the new one.
Re: Sony Appears to Backtrack on Bonkers PS Plus Discount Scandal
@Saitama117
I think that's a bit disingenuous.
.... The Titanic sank much more smoothly than this.
...And the Titanic still has a respected reputation. 🤫
@NEStalgia.
Re: Sony Appears to Backtrack on Bonkers PS Plus Discount Scandal
@get2sammyb
Re: Sony Appears to Backtrack on Bonkers PS Plus Discount Scandal
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the insanity following my recent comment but upon reading #Update2 again are they seriously charging people their full stacked term in advance?
So if you have say, three years of essential and want to try premium you have to upgrade to three years of premium? (I am actually asking)
If that's the case, Why? Why can't you just select a term, pay the term fee and allow it to revert back to essential and continue your time limit until you want to upgrade again?
Example.
*Three years of Essential stacked.
*Want to try Premium for one year. Pay the remaining £50
It can be done simply by it asking "how long would you like to upgrade? Please select your tier."
[One Month] [Three Months] [One Year]
Seriously Sony it's not hard. I'm sorry if my understanding is correct then your service is going to fail. You've already lost.
Btw, can you still stack PSplus cards bought from shops? Or have they blocked that now?
Re: Sony Appears to Backtrack on Bonkers PS Plus Discount Scandal
So, it was intentional?
Idiots.
Re: Rumour: Looks Like PS1 Classic Dino Crisis Is Joining the PS Plus Premium Lineup
@huyi
Re: Rumour: Looks Like PS1 Classic Dino Crisis Is Joining the PS Plus Premium Lineup
Trophies please! I still have my physical copies but since I can't use them on PS5 (still have PS1/2) I'll happily buy it again (not subscribing to a service. Ever) for trophies.
Re: PS Plus Members in Asia Irate As Sony Wipes Discounts on Tier Upgrades, Demands Upfront Fee for Stacked Subs
@naruball
With enough backlash, this will be reversed. Truly insane...
Whoever made this decision should be fired, no matter their position.
Hopefully it was Jim Ryan. Two birds with one stone. 😏
Re: PS Plus Members in Asia Irate As Sony Wipes Discounts on Tier Upgrades, Demands Upfront Fee for Stacked Subs
WOW! well done Sony. You launched and killed your service in one day. Impressive even for you.
Did anyone over there think this would go well when you need good will to convince people to subscribe?
Should have honoured it.
Re: Oh No! Some PS1 Games on PS5, PS4 Look to Be PAL 50Hz Versions
@HammerKirby3
Re: Oh No! PS1 Games on PS5, PS4 Look to Be PAL 50Hz Versions
PAL and NTSC is a choice between 576i/50Hz or 480i/60Hz.
Going for the slight bump in resolution given how big people's TV's are these days is probably a safer bet.
Re: PS Plus Games for Asia Officially Confirmed
@IonMagi
Already getting confused over the ridiculous naming of this service. But still, they said the second tier was PS4/5 games and the third was everything and classics added. This clearly shows some PS4 titles have been held back. What is going on here?
Re: PS Plus Games for Asia Officially Confirmed
Wait, why are some PS4 titles being held back into the 'Extra' tier? I thought the second tier was for the PS4/5 list and 'Extra' gets all that and classic games.
Re: Multiple PS1 Game Trophy Lists Have Been Revealed
MGS1 with a Platinum then I'll have the whole set.
Although that's probably down to Konami so if it comes it likely won't have a trophy list, unfortunately.
Re: Reminder: PS Plus Is Officially Rebooted in Asia Tomorrow
Re: Spider-Man Games Could Have Been Exclusive to Xbox
So can we stop hearing that Sony are 'paying to keep Spider-Man off Xbox' now? Because Microsoft had their opportunity and turned it down.
Bet we don't hear the same thing when Indiana Jones arrives after Microsoft bought the studio that is making it. (Not that I care)
Re: Juggernaut Publisher EA Planning to Sell or Merge
@Rural-Bandit
Re: Juggernaut Publisher EA Planning to Sell or Merge
I wouldn't mind a merger with T2. The games would stay multiplat and we could start calling them TakeTEA.
