Re: Video: Is Live Service Really the Way Forward for PlayStation?

GADG3Tx87

Unfortunately, much like how paid online began and everyone else followed there is no stopping it now either way. Whether we want it or not, which I don't.

When it becomes the only way to play then I think I'm done. I've got a library of games that I doubt I'll ever get through. My backlog just keeps growing even going back 2 generations ago.

That being said I'm thinking of getting a Series X. I'm growing worried about PlayStation and losing faith. While Microsoft are practically, slowly buying up the industry and Sony have been silent about their future plans for a while, we've heard nothing. I feel like they've become complacent. I know they bought Bungie, but that's not enough reassurance.

If Microsoft are going to keep buying everything, and I doubt it's going to stop then switching will end up being a safe bet. I fear they'll get their hands on Square Enix and Sega, and if they do, not even Sony's first parties would be enough to stay. I was on my Xbox account the other day making some changes in preparation just in case. The direction the industry is going is awful, but might as well be with the platform likely to have everything.

Re: PS Plus Deal Devastates Oddworld: Soulstorm Developer

GADG3Tx87

Call me crazy but I got both. I downloaded the PS+ version and played it and I pre-ordered the PS5 Day One Oddition because I wanted it on disc forever.

Because if my PS+ ever expired I can't play it. Although since I have it downloaded it's still sealed. No reason to open it yet. But I love and have always supported the Oddworld series.

I was even a backer for the Kickstarter book and my name is printed in the back, I'm quite honoured with that.

Re: Crash Trilogy, Tony Hawk Remake Dev Now Officially Merged with Blizzard

GADG3Tx87

"but the Xbox maker has said that it'll continue to release Activision Blizzard titles on PlayStation platforms for the foreseeable future."

Yeah, I still don't buy it. What they say and what they do are two different things. CoD maybe because it's one of the biggest IP's and makes a crap ton of money from MTX, plus it would look bad since Sony will still allow Destiny on Xbox.

Anything outside of CoD like Crash and Spyro, highly likely isn't happening. Just look at Phil's wording for Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Single player IP's won't come to PlayStation. And that makes me sad.

If Microsoft were smart they'd play both sides of the fence. GamePass day one for their loyal fans and customers who may be enticed by a small monthly fee. And still release them on PlayStation at £70 full price. It's a win-win for them really. Money from both sides whole people may still be swayed by GamePass.

Re: Sony Invests a Further $1 Billion into Fortnite Maker Epic Games

GADG3Tx87

@OrtadragoonX
I didn't say we're not getting games I said their limited funds are better invested in making games rather than funding a service f2p game that doesn't do much for PlayStation.

And I also lived through the N64 generation and grew up with the NES, SNES, and remember vividly the PS1 launch. Games were not exactly few and far between but they took you much longer to complete back then so they lasted longer. Finding secrets and working for months on unlocks as opposed to paying for 'unlocks' in the form of DLC these days.

Re: Sony Invests a Further $1 Billion into Fortnite Maker Epic Games

GADG3Tx87

Nice one, Sony. Pouring your very limited funds reserved for the PlayStation division into a metaverse, service based, microtransaction filled pile of crap, for what exactly?

Money that could've been better spent on.. oh I dunno, games for the PlayStation platforms?

The customers know the funds for PlayStation are limited and you waste it on this? Well, I hope something comes of that 'investment' because your customers want games.

Re: Classic Games Including PS1 Curiously Expiring on PS3, PS Vita

GADG3Tx87

People saying physical won't last forever, well maybe. But I guess I'm lucky that I have a big physical collection with a lot of game discs even going back nearly 30 years which still look like the day I got them.
No scratches or the fabled 'disc rot' that I've never ever seen, and they all work.
I was playing my physical copy of Dino Crisis 2 on my still working perfectly PS2 just recently.

I'm not knocking digital because I see the convenience factor and the space saving but as long as the option exists I can't bring myself to put the fate of my games in the hands of the platform holder.
And this scenario, while a possible bug, is the reason why.

Re: Poll: Do Remakes of Old Games Get You Excited?

GADG3Tx87

Generally, yes. And I'm among one of the few who has been begging for a Dino Crisis remake since the PS3 days.

That being said, if we had proper backwards compatibility with resolution upgrade software similar to what Microsoft is doing then we can settle for that rather than full remakes, it'll be like a remaster. But Sony will never do that. (Disc based I mean).

It's why I'm actually starting to consider getting an Xbox Series X. Microsoft are really starting to gain ground. Plus I'm convinced they're slowly buying up the entire industry.
I'm worried about the possible news that Sega and Square Enix get bought. Then I'd have to switch.

Re: New Tomb Raider Game Confirmed, Uses Unreal Engine 5

GADG3Tx87

@Flaming_Kaiser
I don't know because I think Sony would keep their games exclusive too. With the eventual exception of PC. This buying up studios is getting out of hand. And in a buying war between them Sony stands no chance against Microsoft.

There will come a point that government officials will have to rule that Microsoft's buying spree of huge publishers is unfair competition that the other platform holders can't match. They're already facing barriers with Acti-Bliz.

I agree that Square Enix works very closely with Sony, but buying up third party publishers where the games will already come to your platforms does nothing but give fanboys satisfaction. Which is why the comments on PXB right now are exactly that.

As for Phil claiming he's 'protecting the industry' from Google, FB, Amazon etc, well these publishers just could simply refuse to sell to them so I call Phil's statement as a load of crap. He's just trying to bolster GamePass and uses that as an excuse.

Re: New Tomb Raider Game Confirmed, Uses Unreal Engine 5

GADG3Tx87

Well, let's hope the rumours of Sony buying Square Enix aren't true because they'll be a lot of people missing out.

Edit.
And there they are over on PXB right now hoping MS buy CD/SE. Why? They get the game anyway and all it does is lock out PlayStation users yet they have the audacity to complain about timed exclusives all the time.
Hypocrites.

Re: Savvy PS5, PS4 Users Stocking Up on PS Now Subs to Convert into PS Plus Premium

GADG3Tx87

@Gelly
To be fair you can't really blame people for wanting to save money. And it will help Sony in the long run. The more attention this service gains the more people will consider subscribing when news and word of mouth travels

Let's face it, Sony are awful at communicating and getting news out there. And even though I have no interest in a service, if it becomes a success that means more money for Sony and more games for us.

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

GADG3Tx87

@Apfelschteiner
"No one has PS3 discs anymore or a PS3 to play them."

Um, I do. My PS3 is sat right next to my PS5 and I was recently playing Mercenaries 2 on it

Y'know what else? I was also playing my PS2 a couple of weeks ago. A little blast on Mercenaries 1, Silent Hill 4, Star Wars Starfighter and Simpsons Road Rage

Some of us kept our consoles and games. And mine still work as perfectly as the day I got them. Even my PS1 from 27 years ago, I was playing Dino Crisis 2 on it last year

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

GADG3Tx87

@thedevilsjester
I'm well aware of that, I think you may have missed my point. I'm not saying that's the way it should be (streaming) I'm just saying (native) is the way it won't be. Despite this either way people will complain as I said, because in gaming, you can't please everyone. Someone somewhere will always be overentitled.

Myself, I have my PS1, PS2 and PS3 because I won't rely on a corporation to provide me access to backwards compatibility or preservation. I know not everybody does that but it's better than asking for something you might never get.

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

GADG3Tx87

Even if they did as unlikely as it is it won't be disc based compatibility. If they were going to offer physical disc backwards compatibility then they'd already be doing it with the PS2 since the games will be able to be played natively but locked behind the subscription.

And even if they got an emulator working via the subscription people will still get the pitchforks out because the consumers and fanboys love to complain and stir up trouble.

PS1 though is an impossibility as it has been confirmed prior to launch that the PS5 is incapable of reading CD's because it doesn't have the correct laser. And even that being the case people will still moan even though it is out of their hands. 😪

Re: PlayStation Boss Promises More Acquisitions Are Planned

GADG3Tx87

As much as I hate thie direction gaming is going and for the first time since playing games from the NES all the way to now, I'm afraid for gaming.

That said I highly doubt it will be Konami. They have their hand in other areas outside of gaming such as gambling that use their IP's. It'll be a complicated mess.

I doubt it'll be FromSoft either. It just doesn't feel right. It is highly likely to be Square Enix. Since the failure of Marvel Avengers I feel they could be struggling. A perfect time to sweep them up.

Sometimes I hope they partner with a large stake in Sega just to keep Microsoft's grubby mitts off them. I think Microsoft would ruin Sega and their beloved IP's.
There are folks over on PureXbox that keep consistently saying they want Microsoft to buy Sega while also some have commented here they don't want Sony to buy Sega.
They would riot if Sony bought Sega but would cheer and gloat if Microsoft did and I can't stand that hypocrisy.

In an ideal world Sega would be off limits because I'd rather everyone gets to play their games. Nintendo are in a relationship with them and that's where a majority of their games go. I also don't want to lose Persona and Yakuza. If MS bought Sega that would force me back over to Xbox and throwing their money around at big publishers that the other two can't financially compete with feels like bullying.

Hopefully if Microsoft tries to make any more huge acquisitions in the near future their government blocks it since they're too frequent and large. There already barriers and controversy over Activision and I'm guessing anti-trust/anti-competitive rules will trigger eventually. Or atleast I hope so.

Re: Talking Point: What PS1, PS2, and PSP Games Do You Want on PS Plus Premium?

GADG3Tx87

Even though I've already got most of them on disc it would be nice to see.

Dino Crisis/2
Metal Gear Solid
Nightmare Creatures
Star Wars Jedi Power Battles
007 Tomorrow Never Dies
Guantlet Legends
Casper
Ready 2 Rumble
Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro
Silent Hill
All the Tomb Raider games.

And that's just PS1,
PSP,
Metal Gear Acid 1/2
Death Jr

PS2,
Persona 3/4
Mercenaries Playground of Destruction
Metal Gear Solid 2/3
Star Wars Starfighter
Simpsons Road Rage/Hit and Run
Silent Hill 2/3
Harry Potter games
Lord of the Rings The Third Age
Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness

And that's just off the top of my head.

Re: Rumour Mill Points to 'Really Big' Sony Acquisition, But It's Just Speculation

GADG3Tx87

I don't like this consolidation era we have entered but if it's going to be the path going forward then all I care about is Sega and Square Enix. Microsoft can throw their money at the rest all they want.

And y'know, Sega has started putting out Sonic movies.. and So y have a movie company.

In the other hand Square Enix has Final Fantasy slowly going down the GaaS route which, as much as I hate it, fits with Sony's desire for service games.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Biggest Problem Is Consumer Relations

GADG3Tx87

Not only that but I'm convinced Sony has hired someone from Nintendo to name those tiers for them.

I mean to a lot of people out of the 'bubble' WiiU and 'NEW' Nintendo 3DS XL really confused a lot of people.

I mean what are we gonna call them short hand? 'PPE' (tier1) also 'PPE' (tier2) and PPP (tier3).
That's a lot of confusing P's.

Re: Poll: Will You Subscribe to Sony's New PS Plus Tiers?

GADG3Tx87

@LtSarge
I've got no doubt that day one first parties won't happen. They still have healthy sales of their titles. If they were to add first party titles around a year after release when they've had good sales, then.... Maybe.. it might be successful.

I mean if they're going into the services route then they will need a kick up the butt because GamePass already has a big, almost five year head start and a lot of recognition.

I mean, as I said while I do like my PlayStation I have scepticism on how Sony handles things, they can be pretty dumb. I guess time will tell, but I still hold firm against services because of my old fashioned ways of just buying a game. I still haven't even embraced digital distribution so the future going in this direction is a tough nut to swallow.

Re: Poll: Will You Subscribe to Sony's New PS Plus Tiers?

GADG3Tx87

@LtSarge
These services do nothing for me personally and I don't or won't be subscribing to any of them other than the ability to play online.

I know the 'premium' tier sounds a bit like GamePass but in practice it would need big and recent third party deals along with their own first parties (not necessarily day one) to even come close to competing.

It all depends how pro-active they are on securing recent and frequent games to the service or they've already lost to GamePass. And this is coming from someone who prefers PlayStation.

Re: PS Plus Premium Brings PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP Games to PS5, PS4

GADG3Tx87

@Rural-Bandit
I can actually understand where you're coming from and I hugely dislike hypocrisy. Personally speaking these services, both Sony's new one and GamePass do nothing for me because when it comes to new/current machines I prefer to buy games outright and for old games, I still have my PS1/2/3 working perfectly.

Re: PS5's DualSense Dubbed the Best Controller of All Time in Public Vote

GADG3Tx87

@SoulChimera
Are the replacement springs you bought identical to the new ones? Or maybe better/stronger?

I might even consider doing that myself because I always feel a little anxiety towards triggers in PlayStation controllers. It's happened to one PS3, one PS4 and now one PS5.
I look after stuff very well but they've never been very reliable.

I replaced the springs in my DS3 and DS4 in the past.
I don't think much of the new colours for the DualSense controllers and replacing the springs with stronger ones would be better than buying a new controller just for that.

Re: PS5's DualSense Dubbed the Best Controller of All Time in Public Vote

GADG3Tx87

@Voltan
I've seen the videos of the supposed improvement to the springs at 0.36mm. Not sure if it will do much in performance, I suppose we'll see. I just assumed that the added pressure for some games weakened the springs.

Although that did also happen on one of my DualShock 4's too. I don't think Sony are very good when it comes to triggers personally and I feel that Xbox controllers are better at that. Even though both have their pros and cons.

For one thing in PlayStation's favour I do think their D-Pads are better than Xbox controllers and always have been.

Re: PS5's DualSense Dubbed the Best Controller of All Time in Public Vote

GADG3Tx87

While it's a great controller it's not without its flaws. My DualSense triggers became loose and very sensitive to a simple light finger rest on them four months in on a launch console.

I think this was due to the pressure adaptive feedback on them. Sony replaced it under warranty and I've disabled the trigger feature without issue since.

I've always felt that the triggers on Xbox controllers are far better. Never had an issue with them.

I also use thumbtacks over the sticks because I don't like how they feel. They're not 'grippy' enough for me but I do this on every controller.

I also miss the iconic colours for the shapes.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Currency Rewards to Be Increased Following Player Backlash

GADG3Tx87

@Luigia
What are you even getting at? It has happened in a similar fashion on Xbox in the past. There were complaints then, just like there are complaints against Sony right now.

You're trying to insinuate that typical Xbox mentality of 'Sony can do no wrong' the fans spoke out and the situation reversed. It's not like Xbox fans say, that Sony fans let them get away with everything.

I'm sorry, you say otherwise but you definitely sound like an Xbox fanboy with that comment.

Re: Elden Ring Has Sold a Staggering 12 Million Copies Worldwide Since Launch

GADG3Tx87

@kyleforrester87
I went down to CeX on Saturday evening to pick up the one and only copy they had for PS5 and after walking for a little over two miles at a brisk walk someone literally picked it off the shelf when I walked in. I was pi**ed.

I only went there because I wanted to play with a friend that night. There are no other game shops in my tiny town so I'm waiting for it to arrive this morning.

They had plenty of PS4 copies though, but I wanted the PS5 version.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Gran Turismo 7 Races Past Elden Ring for Number One Debut

GADG3Tx87

I was thinking about buying it for my step-dad because he loves Gran Turismo games. But I I'm hearing conflicted comments about it needing a constant online connection.

He just wants single player and doesn't have PSPlus so I don't know if I should get it for him. Plus he hates MTX's.
His internet is pretty crappy so he'd prefer to play offline and I don't know how much of the game is behind MTX's.

Re: Sony Pulling the Plug on PS3 After-Sales Support in Japan

GADG3Tx87

I still play mine. It's still connected next to my PS5, Switch and WiiU. Was playing Mercenaries 2 on it not long ago.

I would have thought support for it ended long ago since production and warranties would have expired. I'm sure there are people out there that are going to make this into a bigger deal than it is, because... Sony.

Re: Steam Deck Is Running PS4 Games Like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn Remarkably Well

GADG3Tx87

@wiiware
Steam did have a console once called the Steam Box. It went largely unnoticed and faded away after about 18 months. Some manufacturers were making their variants like Asus and such but I'm not surprised you never heard of it.

I would personally wait for a smaller Deck since this one looks a bit uncomfortable to hold to me. Steam games in my country are mostly about the same price as console games and I play mostly on console anyway.

Re: Steam Deck Is Running PS4 Games Like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn Remarkably Well

GADG3Tx87

@Rural-Bandit
Yeah I don't know what that other guy is talking about. He seems adamant that the Switch gets loud and hot, I started to question myself that I must just be very lucky to have a quiet and cool one since he supposedly has 5 of them that get hot and loud.

I've never seen any of these videos or Reddit posts he speaks of with well documented reports of it that I had to check and found nothing.

I love my Switch too and think it's a perfect companion to the other main platforms.

I agree with you that the Deck looks a bit on the large side. If I get one I might wait for a smaller one in a revised model. I have a steam account with games but I rarely ever play there to be honest. With several other platforms and games I can't find the time. I'll have to evaluate if it's for me so I'm not going to rush out to buy one. I'm just about to start Mass Effect 3 from the trilogy I've been playing so I'm behind starting Horizon and Elden Ring on my PS5.

With the Deck I don't think Xbox will ever need a handheld since they release their games day one on Steam so this is the answer for them and I think that also means there'll never be a Vita2 since Sony are slowly releasing games on Steam too.

Re: Steam Deck Is Running PS4 Games Like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn Remarkably Well

GADG3Tx87

@Floki
No need to be aggressive dude, that's just my experience, and yeah I use mine a lot, maybe I'm just not sensitive to it but I literally never hear a peep out of it or ever feel it hot. I've never known any of my friends to complain either and they are sensitive to that sort of thing, they moan about their PS4's all the time.

Don't know why your sudden aggressive post came into it. What's the big deal? So my experience is different to yours? So what.

I can check out some videos but I've literally never heard anyone else complain either.

Edit. Just looked up some videos searching for overheating or loud fans, the only results I can see suggest defective units and 'fixes'.

Additional edit.
I just turned mine on with BotW and had to listen really hard with it against my ear to hear anything and even then it was barely a whisper. Sorry, but that's just me.

Re: Steam Deck Is Running PS4 Games Like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn Remarkably Well

GADG3Tx87

@Floki
I've only got my launch day one and as I said I've personally never experienced that. I'm on the move a lot and have played BotW, Skyrim, SM:Odyssey, PKMN Sword, SSB, Splatoon and many more in handheld and for a long time I thought it didn't even have a fan.

I only realised when I opened up my friends Switch to solder on a new USB:C port.

Not sure why but it's always been silent and barely even warm for me, slight warmth only if I place my hand on the vent but never from the chassis. And I usually carry a power bank because I deplete the battery a lot.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Drives Strong PS5, PS4 Digital Sales

GADG3Tx87

@bbauer36
No I don't think that. But atleast it can't be taken away from me. No need to be condescending or nasty towards anyone just because of your choices. You're not superior to anyone, dude.

Clear with physical still accounting for more than 50% of the sales then more people have a preference towards that.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Drives Strong PS5, PS4 Digital Sales

GADG3Tx87

Good to see physical still has a strong presence.
I just can't go digital, not until it's forced on me.

I cringe at the thought of going to the online store, pressing buy, downloading it only to feel like it isn't mine, I can't hold it, and it still belongs to Sony who can take it away if and when they want.

I just can't do it.

Re: Sony Goes Game Pass By Putting Shadow Warrior 3 on PS Now at Launch

GADG3Tx87

And so it begins.
No thanks, Sony. I don't support digital and services. I'll stick around so long as physical media exists. When that ends, and it will, and everything is service and digital only, bye-bye PlayStation, so-long Microsoft.

I'll stick with Nintendo until they follow suit then back to my vast retro library when the industry is a shadow of its former self.

It's upsetting to see where gaming is headed. Greed, mediocrity and licenced service crap full of MTX and NFT's with no rights to the consumer.

Re: Distressing Horror Martha Is Dead Censored on PS5, PS4

GADG3Tx87

Myself I generally don't care about this sort of thing but I know some people do.

Why can't they just allow a damn toggle switch like they do with enabling HDR or switching between fidelity and performance modes?

Just ask on the main menu 'do you want explicit scenes censored? [Yes] [No]

Problem solved. Everyone's happy. It's not that hard Sony (of California where everything changed for the worst)
