It looks incredibly cool but also something that you could get bored really really soon. Can’t imagine sitting through these intros every time a fight is starting, so hopefully it is skippable

It’s hard to tell from this rather impressive trailer but it looks like this could be a medieval SMT. I like what I see aesthetically but I hope they are trying something new in substance and not hitting us with yet another old style JRPG with pacing issues, riding on art direction and style alone.

@Ralizah I am not defending this rather charmless aesthetic but Splatoon itself lifted A LOT from Jet set radio in terms of aesthetics and always felt like a something trying to come off as “original” when it really is a copycat.

I hope we see more Dragon Dogma and Pragmata. I also hope Street Fighter 6 gets its own mini shows like SF5 did for season 5.

@naruball @Ralizah I get both points but it must be said that tonally both companies can be accused (and I don’t believe it to be true) to be a bit monotone. Nintendo also uses the same characters in many games so it’s more aggravating. As far as genre go Sony probably is a little less varied lately but in these conversations we conveniently forget that the first ps5 Sony exclusives were a platformer, a souls game, a cartoony action-adventurer and a rogue-like. So yeah you are both right Imho

@Uromastryx I agree with you but GOW and Shenmue are really similar: I don’t think people not playing the first ones would really enjoy the second entry, a lot of information missing, it is basically half of a story or a game split in 2 (or 3). So technically you don’t have to play it but it’s heavily recommended, as you say.

Well I mean you don’t have to play GOW 2018 to play Ragnarok and you didn’t have to play Shenmue to play Shenmue II, or Trails In the Sky FC to play SC but still…these are the closest comparisons I can think of atm.

For NEWCOMERS and people on the verge because of their skill: it’s never been so accessible, use modern controls and have a blast! Use character guides if you want to get better (but you don’t have to!). There are special servers for newcomers (they have a little chick icon next to them) where people who moved out of the first few leagues of ranked matches are not allowed anymore and you can relax!

Looks very nice but I need to know more about the additions. I am not going purchase it day 1 if it’s charging full price for a few new characters and a gameplay update, as I already have all the additional characters for Versus on Ps4 😭 I hope there’s more.

I will get it eventually. It’s kind of a game I always wanted to play but never got too.

@Jedihillis Good point. The majority of sites having a second digit are in fact giving it scores right there in the middle…95 etc.

@Samholy the (slightly useless but very cool) flying Regalia was there all along but I totally get what you mean. On top of that it had a gaas approach with times missions etc. I really don’t think this will be the case with XVI. Maybe we get a one off expansion like 7 Remake, next year.

I am really looking forward to play Diablo too btw! Maybe July-ish, hoping to play with some fellows from Pushsquare 😙

It would have been nice but probably would need a lot of compromises. The formula was near perfection so looking forward to how they build upon it.

@Samholy FF16 is so done for the programmers that it is shipping without a day one patch. So my really safe prediction is that Diablo IV will need a hella lot more of patching that FFXVI.
SE titles tend to be perfectly playable and polished at launch. FFXV had none of the game breaking bugs many open world-ish titles have for the first few months.

@tameshiyaku I know, I know, you are right. Finger crossed 🤞🏻 usually these look like very nice switch ports that run well on ps5 rather than ps5 titles (like Rise). The trailer looks cool so you are not wrong.

I mean, did I expect that a country would leave an economic system that allowed it to play by the same rules as every other state while at the same time having a different and stronger (at the time) money unit? If that happened I don’t see why this couldn’t happen as well.
Microsoft strategy is to make the Xbox brand image stronger at any cost so it can be relevant by 2058.

The only thing I am relatively sure of is that SE is not showing us more FF7 Rebirth until FF16 has shipped or nearly shipped.

Well, at least when Nintendo took some inspiration from the Jet Set Radio aesthetic for Splatoon it was a bit more subtle, this is borderline Splatoon plagiarism from SE. one of the worst trailers of yesterday’s show.

@ShogunRok @rachetmarvel have to agree with both of you as I think generally FFXVI is a very fine looking game but nothing crazy(at least from all the…many…trailers) and Remake can be ugly but has insane character and especially face models.

@Athrum i do remember it (it sold me on the game almost immediately) but will have to rewatch it for comparison’s sake

Gran Blue Fantasy, Dragon Dogma 2 and a few indies were cool! I thought it was ok, most people here being a bit dramatic…a bit disappointed in no team Asobi and no Stellar blade update.
It kinda felt like a Xbox show at times for the sheer amount of shooters, though

I guess we will see how Brand B manages the shift from their current hit toy to whatever is next, I think Sony made a pretty solid transition from PS4 to PS5.

And I have to agree with Phil Spencer Brand C will not outsell PlayStation even if the new Elder Scrolls comes out tomorrow and is exclusive and is amazing.
