Re: Site News: Where's Our Marvel's Avengers PS4 Review?

SegaBlueSky

I'll be interested to see what you guys think, but realistically speaking I can't see myself picking this up with the monetization they have in place. Thought the beta was...OK. Not as bad as I thought but not as good as I hoped. One of those games I'd maybe pick up on PS5 after a price drop.

Re: PS5 Price and Release Date Rumour Is Making Headlines in Japan

SegaBlueSky

If it's true then that's pretty damn competitive, all things considered. Having a quality, headline game like Miles Morales available for £30 would be amazing value for a "first PS5 game" to go along with the Astro Bot freebie. If you went all digital you could get the new console (including controller) and 2 games for under £400. Not bad.

But - we'll see if it's true.

Re: Reaction: State of Play Continues to Find Its Way

SegaBlueSky

As I said in the other article it felt like a very mixed bag for me. Some good stuff but a lot of very boring things too. Just seemed a bit of a weird livestream, as it kinda dulled the hype from the last PS5 blowout. Hopefully we'll have something else new soon to liven things up a bit. The format definitely works in general but this one fell flat a bit.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think of the Latest State of Play Livestream?

SegaBlueSky

Very hit and miss. Crash looks great, the Alan Wake stuff was a great surprise, but most of it was boring as heck. Godfall continues to look terrible and that auto chess thing was the worst trailer I’ve seen in a long time, looked like it was cobbled together in 5 minutes.

Really liked the look of Aeon Must Die but it looks like all the devs have quit recently due to crunch and various disputes so looks like I won’t be supporting that either.

A real mix, really don’t see why they bothered with this stream.

Re: Disabled Gamers Raise Concerns Over Decision to Scrap PS4 Pads on PS5

SegaBlueSky

It is a bit worrying, and the tweet from the accessability consultant doesn't help either, but hopefully Sony will put measures in place to improve the options for disabled gamers. You'd hope it would be apriority, given the measures that ND put in place to make TLoU2 as accessible as possible. Maybe it's something that can be done on a software level for example, to disable the trigger tension feature etc?

It would be great to see something like that special controller Xbox came out with a while back.

Re: Poll: What PS5 Information Do You Want Most?

SegaBlueSky

Definitely a mix of the last few options for me. First and foremost I'd like to see the UI and "extra" features that go alongside the games themselves. Then I'd like to know about backwards compatibility and PSVR2.

I feel like I know what to expect from price and date really, and to be honest I'm unlikely to pick up day one so it's less of a concern.

Re: Interview: PS5's Goodbye Volcano High Is a Reflection of the Uncertain World Around Us

SegaBlueSky

Love the look of this game and I really hope it turns out well. Life is Strange vibes with colourful anime dinosaur characters? Sure, why not! As always with narrative games it'll all rest on how good the story is, but I loved GNOG so feeling optimistic about what these devs can achieve. Right up there as one of my most anticipated PS5 games, personally. Caught me by surprise in the event and I can't wait to see more.

Re: PS5 Completely Outpacing Xbox Series X in Terms of Popularity, Says New Research

SegaBlueSky

It's a tiny sample size so impossible to really tell from this whether the pattern will be repeated on a larger scale.

Sony clearly has the advantage in terms of brand loyalty, and its lineup so far is looking much stronger - for my tastes at least. So whatever happens, I'm positive that I'll be picking up a PS5 eventually. As some others have said, it could be argued that the biggest obstacle is getting people to leave their PS4s behind. Hardcore gamers will quickly pick up the new console but that's only part of the story. Not everyone gets the latest console, just like not everyone gets the latest high end smartphones.

Microsoft currently have the stronger subscription service and it remains to be seen how Sony respond as a competitor and how the momentum of Game Pass continues following the XSX launch. ProjectXCloud integration could also be a game changer if they get that right.

If I'm putting my tin foil hat on and really speculating, my feeling is that hardware-wise PlayStation will comfortably "win" once again but that Microsoft's subscription services will also grow exponentially. The question is whether that drives hardware sales or whether it starts moving Xbox from a platform brand to a service brand.

Re: Poll: When Will You Buy a PS5?

SegaBlueSky

I'd definitely consider getting one at launch, but I'm more likely to wait until Demon's Souls is out. I waited about a year for PS4 I think and can imagine doing that again.

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Next PS5 Showcase Needs to Be a Scorcher

SegaBlueSky

I'm happy with the game reveals so far and don't feel as much like I really need to see extended demos. It'd be nice, but I've seen enough to be interested already. More games are always good though.

What I really want to know is what it's going to be like to be a PS5 owner. I want to know more about the controller (that video from Geoff Keighley was dire - need something more pro than that), and the UI, any new features and perks, sharing stuff, changes to PS Plus/PS Now/PSVR, extra entertainment options etc - all that cool extra stuff. The ecosystem, walled-garden, whatever you want to call it.

Re: Want Ellie's Guitar from The Last of Us 2 in Real Life? There's a Cost

SegaBlueSky

@Menchi Not to be contrarian, but it's not insulting. It's very much standard for Taylor and as far as I can tell seems to be in line with the price of a regular 314, making this limited edition version actualy very fairly priced, in the context of their product lineup.

Guitars are incredibly subjective and if you love Taylor, then only a Taylor will do and nothing else will quite feel and sound the same. And whatever price point you're looking at, there's always something that's arguably (or definitely) better for less. It's all about what the player wants and resonates with. Some people buy a custom guitar for $1800 off a little known fella in some small town, and others spend $10k+ ont he most ridiculously opulent, specced out custom from their favourite mass market manufacturer. Both have their merits and dismissing one or the other is massively oversimpifying the whole process.

I've been on factory tours for a few manufacturers of Taylor's standard and their facilities, tools and R&D departments are astounding. Truly astounding. It's easy to assume one fella carving things out of trees is doing a better job than a team of hundreds just because it's more grassroots, but it's a very different approach that is only better or worse in the eye of the beholder.

Re: 30 Minutes of Assassin's Creed Valhalla Gameplay Leaked Online

SegaBlueSky

This is obviously early footage that should never have been made public, but it looks ropey as heck right now. Haven't played an AC game since Black Flag but this looks almost cartoon-like in comparison, in terms of the fighting mechanics at least. COmpletely weightless and robotic. To think there were comparisons being made between this and God of War...

Re: Poll: Which Version of the PS5 Do You Plan to Buy?

SegaBlueSky

I'll probably go physical just so that I don't have to re-buy my disc-based PS4 games. That way I can sell my PS4 and 4k blu ray player to take a bit off the PS5 cost. But I'd definitely be open to digital-only and will probably think about it if the price is right. If I'm buying a game day one I tend to get physical but other than that it's all digital and the majority of my PS4 library is definitely bought that way. Either way, probably won't be buying one until Demon's Souls is out at the very earliest.
