Re: The Pinball Arcade Racking Up Points on PlayStation 4

Squiggle55

Pinball Arcade also needs to update their UI. It's slow loading and unnattractive and the leaderboards are tucked away. Once I finally get to the tables, it's a fine experience. Still not as fun as Zen for me. Something about the physics and gameplay (camera, glitches) that just isn't as good. But I think making the menus nicer and quicker would go a long way.

Re: How Much Would You Pay to Play Shenmue 3?

Squiggle55

I wish every studio would do this instead of confidently acting like there isn't a big enough demand for a game. At least give fans the real chance to prove you wrong. I think Nintendo is a huge culprit of this. Watch what happens if they put a new Earthbound on Kickstarter.

Re: You'll Be Able to Download 100GB Movies to Your PlayStation 4

Squiggle55

@nathunuc1988 I can understand why they have to walk a fine line and try not to offend Gamestop or Best Buy by selling their digital titles cheaper, but I can't figure out why they don't try to be more competitive with renting movies. Why on earth would they worry about offending or competing with redbox?

Re: PlayStation Plus Will Play a 'Prominent Role' on PlayStation 4

Squiggle55

Even if I did know most of my PS friends, I don't see much reason to watch their gameplay. I wouldn't pay an extra cent for that feature specifically. The only thing I can think of right now that would convince me to pay more for PS+ than I already do is if it unlocked better sales and giveaways, or if it unlocked streaming to the Vita.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue One

Squiggle55

@rjejr My wife and I were ridiculously addicted to Clash of Heroes multiplayer. For a while there we even tried to stay in the top 25 of the leaderboard. The only problem is they didn't plan well enough against rage quitting. People can quit several turns into the game and not be penalized. I really want them to release a version for the Vita.

On topic, I'm still playing Ni no Kuni of course!

Re: Kellee Santiago Backs Ouya, Takes Developer Relations Role

Squiggle55

I don't foresee much success here at all. I'm not saying it won't be a nice machine or the games won't be good. I just don't see success. Maybe I'll be proven horribly wrong. They're mainly trying to be attractive to the indie developer and the hacker/modder. I just don't see how that adds up to big success for a home console. Also, isn't encouraging hacking a bad idea for multiplayer games?

Re: Yes, You'll Be Able to Download Every PS4 Game

Squiggle55

I hope online is still free for everyone too. But potentially they could make it the bronze tier of PS+. The bronze tier of PS+ could be just the cloud saves and automatic updates and online gaming. It could be cheaper than PS+ is now, something like $15 a year. The silver tier could basically be what we have become accustomed to with PS+. And the gold tier could be what adds on the access to a library of games to stream (select ps1-ps3 titles)

I don't know if I would pay more than I do now for the gold tier or not. I'd rather pay a few dollars each time I wanted to rent a game. I don't really want to pay an extra monthly fee like netflix for old games because I have most of the ps3 games I want already and I'll mostly be playing new stuff by then. I wouldn't get my money's worth paying a fee. However, if they simply roll the service into the current price, I think they would attract a lot of new subscribers.

Re: Feature: Sony's PlayStation 4 Reveal - Did It Meet Our Expectations?

Squiggle55

I also still cannot think of a good reason to have a touchpad on the dual shock. I can think of practical uses for a touchpad on a screen like the Vita or an Ipad or the Wii U controller, but I can't for the life of me think of any good gameplay reasons to have a touchpad on a normal controller. I really can't think of anything.

Re: Your PlayStation Network Games Won't Work on PlayStation 4

Squiggle55

@Knux That's kind of how I feel about waiting, but I will probably go ahead and buy one if they start giving away good free games through ps+. But dang I just want to hear them say that they are making remote play compatibility a requirement with new games. If it isn't policy then support will suffer.

Re: Your PlayStation Network Games Won't Work on PlayStation 4

Squiggle55

Even though this was for the most part expected, it's still the biggest disappointment for me. The problem isn't even that I can't transfer all my games, it's just that somewhere in the back of my head I was holding out hope that the ps4 would somehow unlock remote play for my exisiting psn games. I thought there was a chance I'd finally get to play might & magic or critter crunch on the Vita.

I also agree that Dave Perry made it sound like the backwards compatibilty streaming was simply in an idea phase, so that's a bummer. Once I'd like to see their grand ideas be something they actually implement at launch.

And I still think all would be forgiven if they would simply make all ps4 content remote playable, but Jack Tretton said their goal is "most" ps4 games and "long-term" plans.

Re: Gaikai's Extensive PS4 Role Comes to Light

Squiggle55

I think I am going to give up on any expectations for backwards compatibility streaming.

I really wanted to remote play my beloved PSN titles from the PS3, but that didn't happen at all. Then I would have settled for the future, just make all future titles on PS4 remote playable, but now I'm not even sure about that.

In the presentation they say they are “unlocking remote play” and the Vita "will be capable" of remote play with PS4 games. Then he proceeds to say the long term goal is streaming ps1, ps2, and ps3 games as well. I hope that's the case, but more than likely they will roll out games for the service with the same frequency as ps1 classics for vita.

And now Jack Tretton writes on the PSblog:
“it’s our long-term vision to make most PS4 games playable on PS Vita”

I hate the sound of that quote, and this is really shaping up to be another empty promise in my mind. They seriously need to be very specific and honest about what will and won’t happen with Remote Play this time.

Re: Sony Officially Reveals the PlayStation 4, Launching Holiday 2013

Squiggle55

@Belmont
Exactly. I thought they were very unclear about remote play too. They said they are unlocking remote play, and that the ps4 can remote play games to the Vita. But I don't think he said every ps4 game will remote play to the Vita. And he sure as heck didn't say all of your digital ps3 games will remote play to the Vita. That would be the real selling point for me at launch.

If they botch remote play again and selectively choose what will and won't remote play and pretend to roll out ps3 games for remote play but stop after the first bunch and stop talking about it — then I'll be very comfortable waiting a year or 2 to upgrade to ps4. I'm not going to preorder, I'm just going to wait and see after launch if they held their promises.

And The Witness was definitely Myst.

Re: Live: Watch The PlayStation 2013 Meeting Right Here

Squiggle55

I Wish David Perry would have come right out and said every PS4 and eventually PS3 game will be remote playable on the Vita. He said they are going to unlock it with Gaikai tech with the PS4 as the server and the Vita as the client, but he didn't come right out and say every PS4 game will be remote playable. And he was very vague about ps3 games if I recall. I won't be in any hurry to get a PS4 unless the remote play of my big digital ps3 catalog is universal instead of some sort of slow rollout.

Re: Live: Watch The PlayStation 2013 Meeting Right Here

Squiggle55

1)Unlocking remote play to the Vita
2)Automatic streaming demos for everything
3)Start playing games the second you purchase them
4)the interesting sounding customization features in the store for the types of games you like
5)Watching the streams of your friends gameplay, as well as taking over the controls for them. That's pretty crazy.

those have to be the highlights for me. I also like the sound of their ambition to add the full catalog of ps1, ps2, and ps3 games to streaming eventually, but obviously that has to be the biggest candidate for empty promise like when they said the Vita would have remote play with the ps3.

Re: Feature: Sony's PlayStation Meeting - Our Hopes, Dreams, and Fears for PlayStation 4

Squiggle55

If I'm honest with myself, I'm actually much more interested in what my Vita will be able to do. I say this because what I really want to hear is how the PS4 is going to make owning a Vita better. Talk to me about remote play and cross-controller, Sony! And do please show off some games.

Also, what do you think the odds are they simply roll their streaming technology into PS+?

Re: Talking Point: Why Gaikai Is Paramount to PlayStation's Future

Squiggle55

I have Netflix and hulu plus as a replacement for cable. I actually enjoy those relatively cheap subscription models. I think I would prefer renting games individually however, instead of adding another monthly bill, unless the catalog is vast and the service is cheap, or if they simply include it with PS+.

Re: Rumour: Gaikai Will Enable PS3 Streaming on PS4

Squiggle55

Backwards compatibility = not that big a deal. Renting games on your console? = genius.

I'd love to see some ps3 streaming to the vita now through the more powerful ps4. And do you think they somehow plan to identify what ps3 games you own or something like that? Maybe you could only stream the ones you bought digitally?

Re: Microsoft: PlayStation 3 Doesn't Do Entertainment As Well As Xbox 360

Squiggle55

These statements are making Microsoft seem a little desperate moving forward. As far as I'm concerned the only thing I'm missing by not having an Xbox is Halo, the occasional indie game exclusive, ESPN, and HBO Go. The pros of choosing the PS3 (PS+, free online, NFL Sunday Ticket, better exclusives, blu ray) really put the xbox to shame in my opinion.
