LBP2 and LBPV somehow failed to completely capture the magic of LBP1 for me. I don't know if it's the music or the level design or what. The nonstop parade of characters and new gadgets somehow just wasn't quite the same. But with all that said I'm still excited about LBP3. I thought it was a great demonstration.
All that matters is this: we are getting 1 more free game a month. Losing the IGC means absolutely nothing to anyone using their noggins. Why would I care if there are 13 games available at any given time when I've been a subscriber for years and download everything the week it is released? Like Sony pointed out in their blog post, you download the games the week they are released and they are yours as long as you are a member, so who cares how long they stay available? Sony is getting rid of the big headache that was the IGC and the different lengths "available" for each game. 6 games a month, 2 for each system, cut and dry. So much simpler to explain to kids who are prone to complain when they are confused, and 1 more game a month for us is all that really matters. Which is fantastic.
I voted for Pixeljunk Shooter. Something tells me that will be the one I spend the most time with for some reason.
Of course 2 PS4 games in one month could happen, and it will happen eventually, but games exiting the IGC has absolutely nothing to do with it. This is the same faulty logic that makes people complain that a AAA game leaves the IGC and isn't replaced with a AAA game the same week. WHEN a game leaves the collection affects subscribers in no way. I don't care if resogun leaves next month or 2 years from now, I already have it now. My point is that simply bc 2 PS4 games leave does not mean we are "owed" 2, bc they aren't taking anything away from us.
If they added a fully functional and fleshed out online multiplayer mode I would be willing to pay more like $20 easily and I would spend several hours a day on this game.
I can't figure out why my dualshock would need to be tracked for virtual reality. I'm sure there's a reason I guess, but I can't figure out what it would be. And still they should have put in a "turn off" option when they went through all the trouble of patching in new dimming settings. Give people another hour of battery life and let them turn it on if they ever need it for VR.
Yeah this was a really bad idea. First of all, $50 is way too much in the first place. The explanation that they are treating the unlock as DLC is definitely the problem, and if someone is going to spend $50 to unlock additional cars and tracks they should obviously own that content. That's a no-brainer.
Thanks for the article. I was hoping for someone to run a test. Seeing that it does save battery life, I wish they would just provide the option to turn the light off completely, since they already went through the trouble of patching in light settings. I suspect they don't want to admit that it was a silly idea. If they simply included "off" while they were already patching in new settings, that's what mine would be set to, because I'll take every hour of battery life I can get. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't "bother" me, but the light serves zero purpose 99% of the time. The default should be off with the option to turn it on if you want to see your torch flicker gimmick in Tomb Raider.
I bought it during the .99 cent sale, but I still haven't played it. I bet I'll like it. And fixing presentation is easy so I think a sequel of sorts would be a good idea.
"Entitlement" is the key word here. The complaining started after the IGC was unveiled, a move that without question increased the value of PS+. But you started to see lots more complaints because 1)kids didn't pay for it and don't understand value. 2)people didn't understand (and apparently some still don't understand) how the IGC works or why it exists. "What? Why didn't we get another 12 free games this month?" or my favorite "If you remove a AAA game from the IGC, you have to replace it with one". You don't lose games when they're taken off the IGC, that only affects new subscribers. Stop thinking that way.
The only thing PS+ needs to improve is how they handle the situation of people already owning the games. People should NOT get less value for being more loyal customers. That seems like a no-brainer. They can easily see who already owns the game. Toss them a bone. I dunno what. Figure it out.
Mercenary Kings would be fine with me in the US. I REALLY appreciate inclusions into ps+ on their first day on psn, so I don't accidentally buy it a week before it's free.
@Fullbringlchigo I can't even imagine buying a system I wouldn't have bought otherwise simply because the one I wanted wasn't available. What kind of consumer does that with a big purchase? You really think the majority of gamers don't have a preference?
@Longaway "My main interest in it isn't even for gaming. If I can use it as a personal huge screen 3D video system, I'm in."
Exactly. I would love to play around with the VR in games that support it. But I would honestly easily pay $400 for what you said alone. And I would play games using my dualshock with no motion tracking activated.
Like Sammy I've been playing the small stuff more and more lately. I would definitely describe myself as a possible "high score hound" like you say. As long as the gameplay is fun and there are lots of diverse and challenging goals to achieve, then I am going to have a blast. Games like Dead Nation and Resogun have been perfect for me on PS4.
@Zombie_Barioth That's a good point. It used to be a good thing for your friend to have a different console. But clearly that's not the case anymore because most people play together online now as opposed to in the same room. And having a different console means you can't play together.
I've said for a long time now that Sony needs to give us an option to rent from PSN. I think it's a no brainer for absolutely everyone involved, publishers included. I think there is a whole generation now that doesn't even yet comprehend why rentals are such an attractive proposition. But they will learn and it will be a humongous success for Sony.
I've been thinking though, I really hope they include the option to download the game for rentals as well as the streaming. I understand the need for the streaming to play PS3 games on PS4, but if my internet is too slow for seamless streaming, and I'm playing on the PS3, I'd love to be able to download the game and my rental begins when I start the game.
Xbox's PR cracks me up. They're seriously bragging about winning February based on total $ because they're more expensive when Sony sold more units? Hilarious.
Nothing compares to Mario Kart. The only racing game that's come close is Sonic & All Stars. If Sony very closely copies the mechanics of Mario Kart then it could be good, but then they'd catch a lot of flack for copying again.
I agree that the coolest feature is being able to interact with the games like Dead Nation shows. As far as the scandal goes, I'm much more bothered by guys acting like jerks to women gamers than I am by any nudity. I'd like to see Sony hand out automatic permanent online bans on accounts where guys are just being assholes.
Or better yet, I imagine an ecosystem where all the assholes are slowly but surely sent to different servers, where they can only play with, talk to, and see the streams of other people who were sent to the asshole servers. Just like killer instinct did with rage quitters. That would be a nice solution.
I'm really super stoked about this. You aren't going to find Costume Quest on many people's best ever lists. But it's on mine. Playing it made me happy. Like playing Earthbound. It just captures a feeling and it makes me happy.
I love final fantasy, and I love disney. And I love RPGs. I can't get into new Kingdom Hearts at all. It gets worse with each iteration. Spastic battle systems don't do it for me and I get the feeling the storywriters are all in on a big inside joke seeing how much nonsense they can get away with.

@hadlee73 Or perhaps they get a one-time lump sum. I'd be interesting in the terms of those contracts too.

@get2sammyb thanks for confirming that. Now I just need to know if playing on the gamepad on wii u adds anything significant.

PS4 or Wii U? What are the differences? Is PS4 1080p and Wii U 720P? Different control options on Wii U? That's the decision I need to make.
