Re: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Confirmed for PS4, Coming January 2021

ThaBEN

Definitely looked worse then I expected. This doesn't look like a true 'Remake'. In all honesty, this looked like a HD remaster that you'll get free as a bonus for buying the Season pass for some true new triple A Prince of Persia game.
I'm kinda sad, because this will fail and probably mean the chances for a true new Prince of Persia game are slim to none.

Re: PS5 Pre-Orders Reportedly Imminent, But Retailer Removes Tweet

ThaBEN

The official PlayStation blog just commented yesterday to keep our expectations in check, and that there will be no PS5 news this week since their focus will be all on PSVR games. So I guess we'll have to wait till next Monday at the earliest.
But that was before the Series S was revealed, though.

Re: Outrage as EA Shoves Real World Ads Into UFC 4 After Review Period Is Over

ThaBEN

I don't get how people are debating the quality of the adds and therefore state that it's not a bad thing, instead of the practise that they're adding adds in a full priced game!

Would you people say the same if Netflix showed a Doritos ad 3 times within 20 seconds between the end credits and intro of a new episode while trying to watch a series?

By that same logic it's not interfering with the content itself, and therefore not intrusive, right?

Re: PS5 Doesn't Have an Optical Audio Port

ThaBEN

@Richnj
Because of audio lag. When I use optical out on my TV there is additional lag. It's not much, but just enough to notice while playing rhythm based games. That's why is connected my surround set directly into my PS4. Then there is zero audio lag. Also Samsung TV's for some reason always defaults back to PCM every time your source switches between Dolby Digital or DTS. Which is annoying since you need to manually select the correct audio format in the TV's menu each time. So I hoped PS5 would have optical.

Re: The Audio in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Unreal

ThaBEN

If I remember correctly, I believe they (Marc Cerny) mentioned a similar system for non-headphone users on PS5 as well with profiles for TV speakers, surround sets etc. It's supposed to be their (Sony PS5) own proprietary 3D audio option which you can choose on top of the default DTS, Dolby Digital, Atmos etc that we're used to.

-Update-
Quote by Marc Cerny:
"While headphones will be the optimal way to experience 3D audio, PS5 will be capable of delivering the technology through your regular setup — even just your TV speakers."

Re: Talking Point: Did You Love or Loathe Gamescom Opening Night Live?

ThaBEN

The show's presentation was excellent considering the circumstances.
The content itself was pretty ok, but you can't fault the show for a lack of content if it's simply not available.
I wouldn't mind if we get more like this show, where all games are being presented, instead of the 30 something singular developer based livestreams we've got until now.
My ideal situation would be 1 big Nintendo/XBOX/PlayStation conference and for everything else one big show hosted by Geoff Keighley.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Is 4K, 120 Frames-Per-Second on PS5

ThaBEN

@SolarSailo
As weird as it may sound, this has me actually relieved. I don't own a HDMI 2.1 compatible TV and just bought a Hue HDMI Sync Box which doesn't support anything over 60 fps.
Unless you're accustomed to PC gaming, i'll think 60fps will be more then enough for most console gamers.They probably won't be able to see the difference between 60 and 120 in most cases.

Re: PS5 Price and Release Date Rumour Is Making Headlines in Japan

ThaBEN

@jsw-8
It's not only about what the tech is worth. Do you really think the digital version would sell great if for $50 more you'd get the disc based version? The $100 difference seems right to me from a business viewpoint. Besides I don't think many people will see the disc based version as being $100 more expensive, but the digital version being $100 cheaper.

Re: Gotham Knights Is DC Comics' Response to Marvel's Avengers, Launching 2021 on PS5 and PS4

ThaBEN

@RawnDawn
I'm excited as well just for the simple fact it's Rocksteady. Gotta say though, it does look more like an expansion for Arkham Night then a totally new game.
Not sold on the RPG levelling aspect, but going to give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

Edit
I feel so stupid. This is not a Rocksteady game. Forget Arkham Knights, this is the the game I'm looking for: https://youtu.be/V1p7nWylfNs

Re: Reaction: The Spotlight Is Now on PS5's Launch Lineup

ThaBEN

@rachetmarvel
That's still a lot. If we round it off at 25% that's 1 in 4 people owning an mobile phone (who doesn't own a mobile phone?). And i don't necessarily think it will only impacts iPhone users. It's just another negative story about XBOX Next Gen launch that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
When it's time to show your most valuable asset to the world (Halo infinite) and it ends up in a meme (Craig), you've got a serieus problem.
Microsoft realy needs to catch a break and come out with something positive. Let's hope the XBOX Series S can surprise us in a positive way.

Re: Reaction: The Spotlight Is Now on PS5's Launch Lineup

ThaBEN

People claiming that Halo's delay is for the best, no it's not. Not at this point in time. This is a disaster in the making. Sure, the game will look better. But this will seriously impact sales at launch. On top of the few exclusives, current gen looking graphics, Apple blocking xCloud, this might be the straw that will break the camels back.
Each person that was planning to buy an XBOX at launch and is going to buy a PS5 instead because of this will mean a couple of years loss of revenue per customer who made the switch to PS5. No console, games, game pass, XBOX live gold income from these potential customers for the period between console launch and when they eventually end up buying an XBOX further down the line. If they even end up buying an XBOX when they already own a PS5...

Re: State of Play Confirmed for This Week, Will Focus on PS4 and PSVR Games Along with Some PS5 Game Updates

ThaBEN

@ShogunRok
Agreed, plus to bring attention to the fact that PlayStation is the only console that does have VR support, to all the players that havn't decided yet which console to buy.

By the way, the PlayStation blog made a post today saying the following:

"The PlayStation Camera will work with PS5 for playing supported PS VR games. It will require a PlayStation Camera adaptor that will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users. More details on how to get the adaptor will be announced at a later date."

Maybe the State of Play is still PS5 related news in disguise and focussed on PS4/PSVR backwards compatibility with the PS5?

Re: Poll: What PS5 Information Do You Want Most?

ThaBEN

How PSVR works and looks on PS4, including setup (breakoutbox required, dedicated PSVR usb port on back of console?)
4K UHD movie disc information.
Storage space, how to replace the SSD and prices for internal SSD's with more storage capacity.

Re: The Big PlayStation Store Summer Sale Starts on Wednesday

ThaBEN

My top 5 would be:

  • The Walking Dead: Saints And Sinners (PSVR)
  • John Wick Hex
  • Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling
  • Blasters Of The Universe (PSVR)
  • Headmaster: The Lost Lessons DLC (PSVR)

Maybe we'll get a discount on the Danganronpa games since they'll be removed from PSN soon because of a ending publishing right deal.

Re: Increased PS5 Production Suggests Sony Expects Greater Demand Than PS4

ThaBEN

I'm going to buy the physical disc version regardless. But I'm interested in SSD storage space. Maybe the default size is way to small (to cut costs) and that you can upgrade for a hefty prize by buying a PS5 proprietary SSD.
It sounds almost to good to be true if they sell the console under €400. There has to be a catch, right?

Re: Rumour: Black and Red PS5 Console Spotted in Sony Marketing Material

ThaBEN

A while back Matt MacLaurin, vice president of UX design at PlayStation, said that the PS5 will be the most customizable console yet. "You can count on even more beautiful (and hopefully radical) special editions," MacLaurin said. "Customizations with special editions will be beyond anything seen before."

That makes me think that the white parts on the PS5 are actually customizable and interchangable face plates of which we can buy new designs to create your own custom PS5. And the LED's can easily change color to fit the new theme, just as the lights on the current DS4 controllers change colors.
Sounds like a amazing concept if true, where no two PS5's have to look the same!

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

ThaBEN

There will be at least a price difference of $100 between the digital and UHD Disc version. They will not make 2 different consoles only to make the price difference a couple of bucks. You'de be a fool not tot buy the disc version if the price difference is that narrow when the machines are completely identical otherwise.
$399 for digital
$499 for disc version
