Re: Metacritic Responds to Ongoing Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review Bombing Campaign

ThaBEN

Review bombing is not a problem, it's a symptom.
The real problem is current day game developers not understanding their core audience.
What good is a high review score if your game doesn't sell? (I'm looking at you Alan Wake 2.)
Instead of belittling gamers, maybe it's time to actually listen to some of the feedback from the people who actually are willing to pay money for your games, instead of solely focussing on praise by some review outlet.
Unless you want to play catch up with Ubisoft.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Lays the Foundation for a New Modern-Day Narrative

ThaBEN

For me personally, the modern day sections were the highlight of the series. That is, until the Desmond storyline ended. I loved the mystery not knowing exactly what was going on and finding that out together with the modern day protagonist.
I'm willing to bet though that the new modern day sections will just be a big excuse to introduce the "Infinity Launcher" and flock players for more microtransactions. This series has lost it soul a long time ago.

Re: Ubisoft Confident Assassin's Creed Shadows Will Make February Launch

ThaBEN

Why not January or March? You know the game is going to catch heat all over again beacause February is Black History Month...
Also, is this game's launch still tied to the AC Infinity platform? That might be another controversial topic if it doesn't immediately add value to the customer.
I heard rumours that they were planning to only put the Infinity launcher on the physical disc, not the game data. That you still need to download a digital copy from the game via the Infinity launcher in order to play it, which would make the whole point of buying physical obsolete.

Re: Insider Report Adds Context to Assassin's Creed Shadows' Big Delay

ThaBEN

Ubisoft is just being ignorant with the flag stuff, the Torii gate, the "Yasuke Katana" from One Piece, other cultural inaccuracies etc, whilre claiming they have historical experts working on the game.
And now, after all the criticism about Yasuke, they decided to delay the game to be released right in the middle of Black History Month. It's almost as if they are deliberately trying to sabotage their own product.
I see another delay coming, or another controversy about releasing in Black History Month.

@KeenAerondight
They did make AC: Freedom Cry in the past, which was an excellent game with a black protagonist in the Caribbean setting.
But that was before the woke epidemic and I agree that the Ubisoft of today wouldn't dare to do such a thing.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn's PS5, PC Remaster Is Very Much the Real Deal

ThaBEN

I need to have the physical PS5 version of this. Maybe not at launch but I will get it at some day.
I liked the story in the first game way better than the sequel. Probably in my all time top 5 stories for games.
I understand that they made a sequel, but storywise the first game was perfect and didn't need another chapter to expand the story.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

ThaBEN

For reference, the price is:
$699.99 USD / €799.99 Euro

That equals $882 USD for us European. And that is without a disc drive, that's insane!
Or another way to look at it, in the USA people pay the equivalent of €633,98.

If I didn't already own a PS5 then maybe, just maybe I would consider it.

Right now I'd rather wait to see what the Switch 2 will be and spend my money towards that/
The Switch 2 is probably cheaper and brings complete new gaming experiences.
Seems a better deal than just better graphical performance in games that already look pretty good if you ask me.

Re: Until Dawn PS5 Is Priced at $60 / £60

ThaBEN

I think this price is aimed at people who haven't played it before. A lot of PS5 owners didn't own a PS4. I saw a comparison video yesterday, which showed substantial improvements. New camera angles, new lip sync, new walking animations etc.
Sure, if youbayed the PS4 version, it's a steep price.
If your new to the game, it seems like experience worth the money.

Re: Arizona Sunshine Remake Resurrects the Zombie Shooter on PSVR2 This October

ThaBEN

@thefourfoldroot1
I own the base game without the DLC.
I don't see a upgrade path.
I guess you need to own the Deluxe version on PS VR1 first, before being able to upgrade to the PS VR2, which will cost you another €10 on top of the upgrade price.

*Edit
From the YouTube video description:
"Upgrading will require having the original game purchased and installed on your platform."

Probably can only do the upgrade on your console that way, not via the app.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Update Quietly Removes Sexy Lara Croft Pinups

ThaBEN

@DennisReynolds
Well, not all games are affected (yet). I don't want to go to off-topic, but lately it is happening in a increased pace. The fact that we're having this conversation in the comment section of a article about retroactive censorship via a patch should be a hint. And it's not the only game that this has happend to.

And I'm not saying that the characters are ugly per se, but I do think they are "Uglified", meaning they are made less attractive than they used to be.

Not every female character has to be a "babe", but the main thing which convinced me of this deliberately "Uglification" is when I started to notice that when I look at the male and female face models for popular Western games, the digital men always look spot-on to their real life counterpart (or even better), while the women in the same game will be dowgraded (Californian man-jaw and other androgynous features so that it no longer resembles the Face Model in the slightest).

And if this is a creative decision, why does it only seem to happen to the female face models that one would consider to have traditional feminine beauty in real life?

Re: Sony Aggrieves Anime Fans by Erasing Digital Funimation Content in Crunchyroll Merger

ThaBEN

That's why I practically buy all my games and movies on physical disc.
Too many examples of paid digital content being erased or replaced with a censored version "suitable for modern audiences".
I only buy digital games for PS VR2, because changing discs while wearing a VR-headset is cumbersome or when the price is cheap enough that I wouldn't care if I lost the digital item. In the latter, those most consist of games that I wasn't intended to play anyway (at least not for the recommended price).
